How to refill a brother laser cartridge. How to refill laser cartridges? What are cartridges made of?

Brother TN-2090 cartridges are very easy to use: they are easy to disassemble, and after refilling you do not need to check the toner reset box, as with many other cartridges. The process of refilling such a cartridge consists of three stages: disassembling, refilling and assembling the cartridge.

Attention! If something is not clear to you, then in this case you can watch the videos at the end of this article.

First you need to unscrew the 2 screws and after that you need to remove the side cover.

Then remove the gears. Below you can see 2 gear options. On the left are the gears of a regular cartridge. On the right are the starter cartridge gears.

Now our task is to unscrew the screw that secures the developing shaft sleeve, as shown in the photo below.

The next step is we need to remove the bushing. We cling to the bushing with a screwdriver and carefully move it away. You may be worried if you're doing this for the first time, but don't be - these mechanisms are easy to assemble and disassemble, so you can easily return everything to its original state.

Now, using a screwdriver or other tool, we need to move the development shaft latch and rotate it 90 degrees.

It should look like this:

Now you need to remove the development roller itself.

Now we need to unscrew the two fasteners (screws) as shown in the photo below.

After this, you need to pry off the dosing blade of the cartridge with a flat screwdriver, and then dismantle it.

After this we will have access to the toner. We need to completely get rid of its remnants. The best way to do this is with a vacuum cleaner or you can blow out the toner. We also need to clean the particles that are under the transfer roller film.

Now you need to clean the metering blade and transfer roller. This can be done with a dry cloth or other material, such as a napkin. For better results, the blade can be wiped with isopropyl alcohol.

Refueling

Only now you can go directly to refueling. Carefully add 50 grams of toner. Number 50 gr. Suitable for HL-2030/2040/2070.

Reassembly

The first step is to secure the dosing blade with screws on both sides:

Then you need to wipe the transfer shaft bushings with alcohol, as well as the places where they come into contact with the shaft itself. You also need to apply a conductive lubricant to surfaces that rub during printer operation. We put the developer shaft in place.

The white latch, which we unscrewed 90 degrees during disassembly, must be turned to its original position - turn it 90 degrees.

We put the transfer shaft bushing in place.

And secure it with a screw.

We install the gears in their places. Afterwards, the mechanism needs to be checked: if all the stars spin freely, then everything is working properly.

Turn the indicated gear as shown in the figure.

The final stage: installing the reset lever. It is very important to note that the latter should not engage!

Replace the side cover and fasten it with screws.

Ready! The cartridge has been successfully refilled. If you refilled the starter cartridge, then there is no reset lever and therefore the printer will display a message saying that there is no toner. In this case, there are 2 options: do a manual reset or buy a side cover with a lever and replace it.

If you are interested in how to refill a Brother cartridge, then you should pay attention to some details. The design of the models may be slightly different, which determines the procedure. Therefore, the following two options need to be considered.

Operating a Printer with a Toner Cover

Refilling Brother cartridges is quite simple if the model is equipped with a special lid for working with filler. Therefore, the user needs to carry out a number of simple procedures:

  • — first disconnect the device from the network;
  • — prepare work surface, covered with paper or soft cloth;
  • — install the printing device on a level surface;
  • — open the special cap used when refilling the Brother cartridge;
  • — carefully pour in the toner, remembering that the filler is toxic.

If you spill the filler, you need to wipe it with a dry cloth; you cannot use water, especially hot water.

The figure below shows a plug that needs to be removed to get rid of any remaining toner.

Difficulties with Brother equipment

Some printer models may not have a dedicated toner cover. To do this, you need to disassemble the side of the device. After this, the shaft is carefully removed. Then you need to take an A4 sheet and make an imaginary tray out of it. It is inserted between the shaft and the squeegee.

Toner needs to be poured onto a sheet, this is how Brother cartridges are refilled. During the process, the sheet must be supported so that the toner falls into the device’s hopper. After the procedure is completed, a checkbox is set to reset the counter so that the data is reset to zero.

If refilling Brother cartridges is a difficult procedure for you, it is recommended that you contact

The Brother TN-2080 cartridge is similar to the TN-2075 cartridge, except for the volume of the toner hopper. TN-2075 - 2500 sheets. TN-2080 - 700 sheets.

Remove the toner hopper plug and shake out all the toner. We clean the bunker with a special vacuum cleaner. The better you do this, the cleaner your hands will be later.

Unscrew the three screws and remove the side cover of the drive gearbox

Under the cover there are several loose drive gears. They need to be removed and cleaned of any adhering toner.

Remove the lock of a pair of gears

Push out the locking pin

Rotate the developing shaft stabilizing plate and remove the shaft

Using a special vacuum cleaner, remove all remaining toner from the hopper. We remove the magnetic shaft and thoroughly clean it with a special vacuum cleaner.

Fluff the felt seal of the magnetic shaft

The felt seal is glued to the metering blade, so it is not recommended to remove the metering blade

Clean the blade tip with a lint-free cloth

Reassemble the cartridge in reverse order, after lubricating the gears

When installing the side cover of the drive gearbox, install the counter handle as shown in the figure.

Refill Brother HL-2040 type toner in the amount of 50 grams and close the compartment with a stopper

We install the cartridge cover, this will prevent spillage and damage to the development roller during transportation

Brother TN-2080 cartridges are used in the following printing devices:

Cartridge Brother TN-2080 black Resource: 700 pages A4 at 5% coverage

Laser printer Brother HL-2035R

MFC laser Brother DCP-7055R

The brother company pleased us with its new small-sized laser printers and MFP. Unfortunately, these models use small capacity cartridges of only 700 sheets. Such cartridges will require frequent refilling for larger print volumes.

In this article we will look at the option of correctly refilling brother TN1075\1095 cartridges. We will not refill it through a plug, as many services do. Our refilling method will allow your cartridge to work for many years, and most importantly, it is simple.

Unscrew the screws on the side cover of the cartridge and remove it.

Carefully remove all gears and set them aside.

Now the hardest part, remove the retaining ring, it holds the developing shaft.

Remove the side cover and then take out the developer roller.

Turn the hopper over and pour out any old toner.

Take a cloth and add degreaser to it. Wipe the edge of the metering blade and remove any carbon deposits that have built up. It is very important to remove all carbon deposits! Carbon deposits interfere with the normal flow of toner to the development roller and scratch its surface. Do not press too hard on the dosing blade! The blade should not be deformed.

Fill in about 60 g of new toner. Reinstall the development roller (wipe it with a napkin), then the side cover and put back the retaining ring!

Reinstall the gears.

Attention!!! Do not allow the printer to remain idle for long periods of time with empty cartridges! This may cause ink residue to dry in the print head and block the nozzles. In this case, the printer will not print until you clean the print head!

To refill cartridges, use only ink that is suitable for them.

1.Prepare the necessary tools and materials for refilling: ink, small screwdriver, 10 ml syringe without needle, napkins, latex gloves.
2.To refill the cartridge, you will need to remove the cap. To do this, use the tip of a screwdriver to pry off the cover from both sides (photo 1).

3.Remove the cover by sliding it parallel to the body (photo 2).

Attention! In this case, 2 metal springs are released and fall out. Don't lose them, they will come in handy when assembling the cartridge.

4.Put the lid and springs aside (photo 3).

5. Wear rubber gloves. Fill the syringe with ink of the required type and color, remove the needle.
6.Press the vent valve pin with the index finger of your left hand to allow air to escape when refilling the cartridge.
7.Insert the tip of the ink syringe into the outlet of the cartridge and slowly inject the ink while holding down the air valve pin (Photo 4).
8. Refill ink until a drop of ink comes out through the vent valve.
9.Press the valve (remove your finger) and remove the syringe from the outlet.
10.To assemble the cartridge, install the springs on the special pins inside the cover (photo 5). Holding the spring cap vertically, place the rest of the ink tank onto it, making sure the springs snap into place (Photo 6).

11. Connect both parts of the cartridge until it clicks. Check that the lid is placed correctly on the body: press the lid - it should spring back. If the cover does not spring back, it means it is installed incorrectly; remove it as described above and reinstall it.
12. Install the cartridge into the printer and carry out the initial test cycle according to the printer maintenance instructions.
Note: The cartridge has an ink level float sensor, so the printer must detect that the cartridge is full.
