When on nokia lumiya. What to do if Nokia Lumia won't turn on? Battery life

Turning on the Nokia Lumiya phone is not difficult: to do this, press the power button, which is located on the right side panel of the gadget between the camera and volume keys, hold it until it vibrates. But there are times when the Lumiya smartphone does not turn on in the usual way, does not respond to the charging connection. In such a situation, it is not necessary to go to a service center and hand over the gadget for repair.

You can reanimate smartphones of the Nokia Lumia line (520, 620, 720, 820, 920, 525, 625, 925, 1020, 1320, 1520) and any other that runs on the Windows Phone 8 operating system using the keys on the right side panel - power, camera and volume down buttons. Before doing this, put the phone on charge for at least 20 minutes so that the remaining charge level is above 50%. After this time, disconnect the charger. Try pressing the volume down and power button. Keep them pressed for 10-15 seconds, then release the keys. After such a manipulation, the phone comes to life, reboots, your programs and files will not be affected, but you may need to set the time and date.

If you were unable to fix the problem, then try resetting your phone and restoring it to factory settings. Remember that in this case, all personal data - files, pictures, music, applications and games - will be deleted from the smartphone. You can reset the settings by simultaneously pressing the volume down, power and camera buttons.

You can do it differently. Press the volume down button and do not turn off, then plug in the charger. When an exclamation mark appears on the screen, you can release the key. Then press as follows: volume up key, volume down key, power key, volume down key. During the reset, you will see gears spinning on the Nokia Lumiya screen. The whole process takes about 5 minutes. Then the smartphone screen will turn off, rebooting after about 30 seconds. Now you can set up your phone.

These methods are also relevant in the case when Nokia Lumiya freezes, reboots for no reason, applications and games crash, and there are problems with sound.

Hey Habr!

It has been more than a year since the announcement of the first Nokia Lumia on Windows Phone 8, during which we have acquired a large number of users and fans of our smartphones on WP. But it seems to us that even the most "hardened" fans do not know all the secrets of the Windows Phone 8 platform. That is what we decided to devote our today's post to.

1. Write like a ninja.

Many keys have a mode for entering additional characters, allowing you not to switch to a keyboard with symbols. To invoke this mode, touch and hold the key until a pop-up menu with symbols appears. For example, if you touch and hold the left bracket button “(“, the left angle bracket “<“, левая фигурная скобка “{“ и левая квадратная скобка “[“. Чтобы добавить только один символ или цифру, не обязательно переключать клавиатуру с режима на режим. Достаточно коснуться кнопки переключения режима на цифровую клавиатуру и задерживая палец на экране переместить его к нужному символу.

And if you follow the rules of punctuation in Internet correspondence, then in addition to the plus sign in karma, we share advice: touch and hold the "dot" key - this will bring up a menu with frequently used punctuation marks. The displayed characters depend on the keyboard language.

2. Become an Internet Explorer master.

A feature of Internet Explorer in Windows Phone is its minimalism: there is only one button next to the address bar, and all other commands are hidden in the menu. By default, this button is Refresh/Stop.

Let's say that it is not so important for you to be able to instantly refresh or stop loading pages. Let's say you want to always have your bookmarks at hand. That's not a problem: open Settings > Applications > Internet Explorer and select "favorites" from the "Address bar button" drop-down menu. You can also select "tabs" to quickly display your open tabs if you're an avid mobile web surfer, for example.

3. Be polite when rejecting a call.

Signing a billion dollar deal to sell your startup? Do kids stuff pasta in a DVD player? Trying to catch the last train? No matter what situation you're in, you can reject an incoming call and still be polite. The built-in instant messaging feature saves you the hassle of picking up the phone and saying "I'll call you back."

When there is an incoming call, just press the "answer in SMS" key. Then choose one of the standard messages - or create some of your own. To customize the list of messages, go to Settings > Applications > Phone and in the "Reply to SMS" section, open the "Edit replies" menu.

4. Warn people if you are late.

There are billions of reasons why you're late, but you're obviously going to be harder to forgive if you don't warn people ahead of time. However, if you're using the calendar on your Lumia, with a few taps you can send an email to all meeting attendees to let you know you're late. To do this, simply open the event and click on the symbol of the Flash superhero (well, or just a running man). After choosing whether to email only the meeting organizer or all participants, the mail app will offer you a default text (editable, of course): “I'll be a little late, but I'll be sure to come. See you soon".

5. Make the Lumia screen as readable as possible.

Great advice if you have poor eyesight or, for example, if you are going to have a very fun and noisy Friday night. In order for you to accurately hit the icon of the desired application, write a message without errors or view small text, use the Accessibility menu (Settings> System> Accessibility). There you can turn on the high contrast mode for a clearer view of a number of elements, increase the font size and turn on the screen magnifier, which is called up by double-tapping the screen.

6. Control your Lumia's voice.

Probably, not everyone knows that with the help of a voice assistant, you can not only call a subscriber from your address book, but also launch applications, dial a number during a call, and even launch your favorite mixes from MixRadio. This is very convenient if you are very lazy or you are driving. Hold down the Windows key and hold it, thereby calling up the voice assistant, and then say one of the appropriate commands (you can see the full list of commands).

7. Don't let your pictures get lost.

To prevent this from happening, set up automatic synchronization of pictures with SkyDrive. There's nothing easier than doing this on Lumia: the sync options are in the Auto Send menu (Settings > Photos + Camera). Now each snapshot will be backed up in the cloud storage (if you have an internet connection).

8. Become the Caesar of multitasking (not a salad).

If you haven't read the Lumia Black update changelog, you may have missed the update on multitasking. Managing running applications is now quite simple: press and hold the back button. Voila, you have opened the multitasking menu. Now just scroll left and right to select the desired application or click on the cross in the upper right corner to close the unnecessary one.

9. Consolidate your mailboxes.

Are you one of those people who has a separate email address for every occasion? Don't worry, so are we. And if you want to check all mailboxes at the same time, you need to link them in the mail menu. Open one of your email accounts, click on settings (three dots in the bottom right corner of the screen). Then select the "link inboxes" menu and check the accounts you want to link. You can select as many accounts as you want and give a name to the shared label, such as "Workers".

10. Organize your phone book.

The Contacts app is the perfect place to store all your contacts (unexpected, isn't it?), no matter where they are.

Any technique is subject to failures and errors in operation. Smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile are no exception. If you have a Nokia, Microsoft Lumiya or another phone on the "top ten" does not turn on or freezes, then read this article to the end, you may find a suitable solution.

First of all, don't panic. And you don’t need to immediately run to the service, where, perhaps, quite serious money will be torn off from you for eliminating any frivolous error. First try the methods described below and if they do not help, then you can think about going to a service center.

Regardless of whether your Lumiya is frozen or does not turn on at all, you can restart your phone by simultaneously pressing two buttons: mute keys and lock keys (on/off). Press and hold these buttons for 15-20 seconds. Before this procedure, connect the charger to the device!

If everything worked out, then the smartphone display should go out, and then vibrate briefly after 1-2 seconds. After that it will reboot.

Factory reset

Even if the phone freezes completely, you can reset its settings to the factory state. How to do it? Simultaneously press and hold volume add and on/off keys. After that, an exclamation mark should appear. If this happens, then you need to perform the following sequence:

  1. Click the add volume button;
  2. Turn down the volume;
  3. On / off button;
  4. And turn the volume down again.

flashing

You can fix the error due to which your Windows 10 smartphone freezes or does not turn on by flashing. You can do this using the official utility from Microsoft, it is called Windows Device Recovery Tool.

In fact, these methods are relevant for all Lumia smartphones (925, 920, 625, 520, 720, 640, 800, 1020, 510, 635, 630, 710, 730, etc.) and other phones that work like Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile.

Smartphone screen resolution table on Windows 10 Mobile

A review of the Nokia Lumia 520, of all the "lumias" in general, or of OS Windows Phone 8 - it's hard to say how best to title this article. However, in our case, the problem manifested itself in the Nokia Lumia 520, so let's start with it.

I gave this yellow smartphone to my wife for her birthday earlier this month. The device is certified for Russia (Rostest). On the same day, we went to the MTS showroom to exchange a regular SIM card for a microSIM. Exchanged. Since then, the experience of using the device began. By the way, the firmware on the smartphone is the latest: updates were immediately installed “over the air” through the corresponding menu.

The problem manifested itself already on the second day: an outgoing call was made, the connection was established, but in the conversational dynamics - silence, the interlocutor is not audible. The chime did not help, the sound reappeared only after the phone was rebooted.

We thought - with whom it doesn’t happen, the device is complex, it failed, or maybe it’s the MTS or the SIM card. But a day later the situation repeated itself - already with an incoming call. The phone with the ringer turned on corny only vibrated, when answering, there was deathly silence in the speaker. The microphone probably didn't work either. The second call did the same. Again only a reboot helped.

Of course, we were upset, but given that the reboot helps, we decided that the matter was clearly software in nature and it was worth waiting for software updates. Moreover, two weeks have passed and it will not be possible to return the smartphone back to the store.

Two more days passed, then my wife listened to music on her smartphone with headphones, and at that moment I called her: again the same problem - I couldn’t be heard, I didn’t hear her either. She tried to speak both through the headset and without it. After the connection was interrupted, the music did not play either - the device gave some kind of error. With or without headphones. The reboot helped, but literally half an hour later the jamb appeared again! At the same time, I myself tormented the device for a long time, trying to find a way out - the music in the player was not played (the smartphone tried to open each track for a long, long time, but to no avail), I also could not listen to the ringtone. There was no sound in the headphones either (already the conclusion is that the speaker itself is working). And, of course, the phone did not ring with an incoming call, but only blinked the screen, and after lifting the handset, the speaker remained dead.

An attempt to adjust the volume, change the melody, turn off the 3G Internet or switch the phone to 2G mode, turn off the energy saving mode and other manipulations did not lead to anything. Only reboot. At the same time, the phone is practically “clean” - contacts are loaded, working mail is configured, Skype, Mail-agent is installed and that's it. No viruses for you.

I decided to turn to Nokia for help. To do this, I went to their official website and in the "Contacts" section, I selected "Visit the support page". There is a field "Need additional support" with the column "Enter the serial number (IMEI) of your phone", which I did when I recognized it by * # 06 #, after which I logged in with my Microsoft account and I had the opportunity to chat with a specialist Nokia technical support via online chat.

The girl quite tactfully and skillfully answered all my questions regarding the described bug. Her opinion is that the matter is in the new SIM card, which was incorrectly registered in the phone software. She didn’t hear anything about the jamb I’m describing, the problem is not massive (according to her information), so I was asked to backup all the data and reset the phone to factory settings. Thus, the software will be completely reset and the glitch should disappear. In principle, the usual solution offered by any support service is: a) do a master reset b) replace the SIM card.

We listened to the advice and made a general reset. Of course it didn't help. Today it happened again. The phone rang, but after the answer - silence, no voice can be heard. Chime - already only vibro and the same silence in the speaker, the microphone also does not work.

At the same time, I googled this topic, asking the search engine such queries as “nokia lumia sound disappears”, “nokia lumia speaker sound disappears”, etc. As a result, I realized that the problem is quite widespread and, apparently, only the manufacturer himself does not know about it (as usual, however). Here are some examples:

1. Question / answer on the Microsoft website regarding the Lumia 920 - answers.microsoft.com:

2. Question / answer on the unofficial site dedicated to Nokia Lumia - lumiaru.com:

3. In the same place, but about another model - Lumia 720:

4. Discussion on the forum dedicated to Windows Phone - w7phone.ru:

5. Discussion of Nokia Lumia 520 on the famous w3bsit3-dns.com resource:

6. Discussion of a similar Lumia 920 bug on the Nokia official technical support forum:

And that's not it. Earlier, I found an example of the sound loss problem in the FAQ on the website of the Windows Phone operating system itself. The solution was to make a general reset or stomp in the SC. Only meaning?

I also came across a topic on some forum with exactly the same cant, only on a Windows smartphone manufactured by HTC.

Conclusion: the described problem is not only with Nokia Lumia, but with Windows Phone 8 in general. Or a Windows glitch appears with a certain application. Perhaps a jamb with some specific micro-sim cards (MTS?), Although we lost sound not only at the time of the communication session, but also just while listening to music. That is, the buyer of any smartphone on this operating system is not immune from this trouble. And the jamb is clearly not new, but very, very sad, and when it is finally found, understood and corrected, science still does not know. Maybe never. But still we wait and hope. For, frankly, I don’t see the point in carrying a smartphone to a service center - the malfunction is most likely software, and there is simply no cure for it yet. Unless flashing a smartphone to custom firmware at home with the loss of the official warranty. Maybe it will help, but I can’t say for sure - I haven’t tried it. Or this case is individual, therefore it concerns only the nth audience of users of certain applications. Wait and see.

PS. Asked a question about the problem on the official Nokia support forum. My topic was pasted in the form of a message to an already whole branch of the same victims. Complaint one - the sound disappears. As an assumption, the situation is typical for those who have a Mail agent or ICQ installed. In our case, there is a Mail agent. Now let's take it down and test it. Then I will unsubscribe as an addition to the article. Discussion link.

Update as of December 24, 2013

So, deleting the Mail-agent application is valid solved the problem: No sound has been lost on the smartphone for the past 5 days. What conflicts with what - the Mail agent with Windows Phone or Windows Phone with the Mail agent - remains behind a veil of secrecy. However, a pill has been found, therefore, if you are concerned about the same jamb, you can eliminate it by simply demolishing the crooked application.
