Vox with speech delay. VOX function - automatic activation by voice

The NEXEDGE™ system provides the ability to use the automatic VOX function in the radio, accessible using special accessories (conventional mode only).

1 Description

The Voice On (VOX) feature is used to monitor voice activity on an optional microphone. When a voice is detected, it is transmitted over the radio station. If there is no voice activity on the additional microphone, the transmit mode in the radio station is disabled.

2 Use

There are a number of issues to consider when using the VOX feature. Primarily, the VOX Voice Activation feature is designed to enable the radio to transmit when voice activity is detected. This means that the radio will transmit every time the user says something. If a radio user is close to another subscriber, the radio can detect the voice activity of that subscriber and begin transmitting. To successfully use the VOX feature, the radio user must be aware of any possible audio sources that could cause the radio to inadvertently transmit when it is not necessary. Secondly, the position of the accessories to activate the VOX function is an important factor in its use. The radio user must place them in such a way that the minimum level of external noise is ensured.

3 Temporarily disable VOX function

In situations where use of the Voice Activated Transmit (VOX) feature may not be desirable, the radio user can temporarily suspend it by pressing the talk-to-talk (PTT) button. The radio immediately pauses the VOX function and turns on the transmitter. For subsequent transmissions, the radio will operate in normal mode (i.e. without using the VOX function). Operation using the VOX feature will be restored if the user re-enables the feature through the menu or by pressing the appropriate softkey.

You can disable the Voice Activated (VOX) feature by using the appropriate menu or a designated programmable button.

4 Talk permission tone

When using the Voice Activation (VOX) feature in conjunction with the Talk Tone, you need to be aware of how the radio will behave. When the tone is muted, the radio operator may begin to speak, causing the radio to turn on and not transmit the entire phrase spoken by the radio operator. However, in the event that the Talk Permit Tone is enabled, the radio operator must use a keyword, the "start" word, to put the radio into transmit mode. After pronouncing the key word, the radio station operator needs to wait for the conversation permission signal, after which he can start speaking, which will allow him to transmit the entire phrase without loss.

The Kenwood TK-2206 portable radio has a compact design. The body of the TK-2206 radio is made of high-strength carbon fiber, the basis of the transceiver design is a reliable aluminum chassis. The connector with SMA type thread ensures reliable fastening of the antenna to the transceiver. The Kenwood 2206 radio is quite easy to use. Compact model Kenwood TK2206 without a display with a minimum of controls, thanks to this the user does not require special skills to operate. Programming the frequencies of the TK2206 radio station is extremely simplified and is carried out through proprietary software, while the functionality of the radio is sufficient for the most demanding consumer.

The Kenwood TK-2206 portable radio combines proven quality, miniature size and superior ergonomic design. Distinctive features of the professional transceiver TK-2206 are such functions as priority scanning, voice signal encryption, built-in VOX (hands-free function) and compliance with the requirements of the American military standard MilStd 810 C/D/E for dust and moisture protection and IP 54/55, which allows you to use the Kenwood 2206 radio under adverse conditions.

The Kenwood TK-2206 wearable station has small overall dimensions and high build quality. The advantage of the Kenwood TK2206 is its ease of operation. The built-in VOX function allows you to use the radio station in “hands-free” mode. When the VOX function is activated, the radio station starts transmitting when the user starts speaking into the microphone; the mode has 10 levels of voice sensitivity control. The portable radio TK-2206 can operate in VOX mode not only in a quiet place, but also in a place with high noise and will switch on transmission exclusively to your voice, ignoring other sounds and noises; this function is provided by the VOX mode with increased noise. The “hands-free” mode is recommended in places where the user’s freedom of action is required or when he speaks on the radio without attracting the attention of others; for the hands-free mode of using the Kenwood TK-2206 station, a hidden-wearing headset is used, which is attached to clothing and does not stand out during everyday use .

The portable radio TK-2206 provides a priority scanning function for the easiest way to monitor multiple channels. The station's hardware capabilities offer 2 methods of priority and standard scanning. The transceiver allows you to immediately respond to a received signal without the need to manually search or switch channels. The shock-resistant Kenwood TK2206 model uses a proprietary digital signal to automatically transmit subscriber identification. The encoding mode in the Kenwood TK-2206 portable radio provides access to the communication system and division of users into groups at the frequencies used. On the Kenwood 2206 body there are two side functional buttons, which are programmed to perform various functions that can be used by the user during operation. The Kenwood TK2206 radio transceiver has a built-in powerful speaker that provides the radio user with intelligible and high-quality sound. The sixteen-channel radio Kenwood 2206, according to its intended purpose, can be used as an alternative replacement for discontinued models of Kenwood TK-2107 and Kenwood TK-2106 stations.
