It’s rare that electronics and equipment are sent to Russia from China with a memo or passport in Russian. If you find yourself in such a situation, then most likely you ordered a wall or table clock on Aliexpress or became the owner chinese watches from the shop.

In the Aliexpress online hypermarket, there are more than half a million options for the “electronic watches” item – of all sizes, colors and shapes. There are wall and table clocks with buttons, and even floor-standing solutions with thermometers. There are plenty to choose from! But how to set it up?

Most often, the buyer has to independently guess the purpose of the buttons and, using ingenuity and intuition, configure the device.

Fortunately, the experience of numerous users of Chinese products allows us to determine a certain algorithm for trouble-free setting of any electronic clock - wall, table and even floor!

What are the buttons on a wall or table clock responsible for?

To set up Chinese electronics, you will need to figure out what the buttons on the watch mean.

Everything is very simple.

Workers and important buttons in electronic watches from Aliexpress usually no more than 4. All other buttons are either fake or are responsible for demonstrating a specific function.

To configure, you will need to know the markings:

  • MODE/MOD – selection. Responsible for switching between categories and parameters. Typically these are the functions “time”, “alarm clock”, “stopwatch”, “date”.
  • START/SET – input. The area of responsibility includes setting the digital indicator of the selected parameter, that is, directly programming the date or time.
  • In addition to MODE and SET, there is certainly a RESET key on the device body - to reset the entered data or reboot the product.

Location of the RESET button in products from Aliexpress: in table and wall clocks - usually hidden in the battery compartment or recessed into back panel products.

All other elements of Chinese watch electronics serve to enable or demonstrate individual functions, but are almost never responsible for setting them up:

  • LIGHT – turn on the backlight;
  • 12/24 – switching between 12-hour time format and 24-hour time format;
  • MIN/MAX – in products with demonstration of temperature and humidity, it is used to display the minimum and maximum data values for a certain period of time;
  • C/F – switching temperature indicators in Celsius or Fahrenheit;
  • ON SC OFF – enable voice mode to quickly activate the screen backlight when it goes into a “sleep” state;
  • SNZ – delayed alarm start;
  • ALARM – setting the alarm time;
  • UP – blocking the “sleep” mode when the device is operating;

Buttons on the back or top panel without markings turn off the alarm when it goes off.

Sometimes manufacturers ignore any labeling options. Then one can navigate “by touch.” Two controls are exactly MOD and SET - “select” and “enter”, one is “select” and “set” at the same time.

In the case of single control, don’t be scared, because everything is simple:

  1. Hold, press the key – “select”.
  2. Short presses – “setting parameters”.

Setting the date, time and alarm of the electronic wall clock

The standard version of the push-button configuration is SET, MODE, RESET. And it is this that causes the greatest difficulties for users.

In fact, setting up a 3-button digital watch is quite simple.

In them:

  • MODE – choice.
  • SET/START – input of digital data.
  • RESET – reboot and “help” when setting basic parameters.

The sequence of actions is as follows:

Using MODE the parameter is selected. Each function has a certain number of clicks.

For example: one press – time, two presses – date, three presses – alarm clock.

In the absence of instructions, the sequence is determined experimentally; fortunately, there is only one electronic format time and dates and understand which function appeared on the screen is quite simple.

  1. Setting, that is, switching between numerical indicators by flipping, is carried out either using SET, or using SET and RESET. In the second case SET is responsible for hours and months, RESET – in minutes and days. Although there may be other options, since Chinese products are sometimes unpredictable.
  2. The time on the alarm clock is set in the same way: MODE – selection, other buttons – settings.

The moment of turning off the alarm clock is interesting - this often requires simultaneous pressing of two auxiliary buttons at once.

The peculiarity of Chinese watches is unpredictability. Buttons on devices have different names, are responsible for different functions, or are generally fake. But all this is not scary!

The operating principle of all models is similar and, having understood the basics of setup, you can quickly set the necessary parameters.

VST productions are gaining more and more popularity in the electronics market. They are made in China. The VST clock is made in modern design and have several options. Desktop models, thanks to the folding leg on the body, can be placed anywhere: on a table, shelf, bedside table, etc. Also available are VST electronic wall clocks that hang on the wall.

Short description

VST watches, made in a strict and laconic design, look very cozy and at the same time quite modern. All models have a 24-hour time format and an alarm clock. In addition, some wall-table options have a voice message time. All VST clocks have power backup. In case of an emergency, the time is saved in the clock memory. When you turn on the light, you do not need to set the clock and alarm again. Each model also has different color schemes.

1. Why is this needed?

I didn’t think that I would ever live to see the moment when electronic wristwatches would become popular again among young people. So, today many companies sell once popular classic models. Once again, as in the eighties, Casio from the same name is heard Japanese company or the Belarusian “Technochas” - an analogue of the cult “Electronics”. And everything would be great, but unfortunately, these models are relatively expensive. About 30-150 US dollars per copy, which, judging by the comments and reviews, discourages those who want to purchase such accessories.

Fortunately, Chinese pirates are counterfeiting well-known models of electronic watches. So, in any nearby market you can buy a replica of the iconic Montana for $3.5, or a standard Casio for $5, or a fantastically functional G-Shock for $10. Externally, these fakes are made a little rougher than the originals, but nevertheless functionally they are almost the same. The only significant and main problem Such models are characterized by precision. For example, the Casio purchased by the author of these lines was in a hurry for 20 seconds every day, which could not help but upset.

And if the old Elektronika watches had additional elements and capabilities for correcting the accuracy of the movement, the Chinese fakes do not have such functions. And everything is regulated only by quartz. And since the quality of these parts in China leaves much to be desired, counterfeits also suffer from this malfunction.

But the problem can be fixed using company store from the Integral plant, or in our particular case, by transplanting high-quality quartz from old non-working Soviet watches. And it doesn’t matter whether they are pointer or mechanical. After all, this does not matter for donation.

2 . Upgrade

And before you start modifying a fake electronic watch, you need to stock up on a screwdriver for adjusting the glasses. The fact is that Asian defectors use incredibly small screws in their models, in contrast to the covers and latches used in Soviet Electronics and other branded models. Therefore, in order not to tear off the already flimsy thread, you need to have an appropriate thin tool. After all, any inaccuracies are guaranteed to damage the screws.

In the specific case described below, the clock can be disassembled quite easily, since the author had all the necessary tools. Yes, and in general the Chinese clearly did not assemble Casio better conditions, since on the inside protective glass there was a mass of metal shavings that spoiled the view and appearance accessory

To disassemble the electronic watch, you need to turn it over and unscrew the screws of the protective case cover (number 1).

Then slowly remove the protective plate located directly under the cover (number 2).

Then carefully (number 3) with a small glasses screwdriver (number 6) unscrew the four screws securing the battery to the board, as well as the contact for it. Also, do not rip off the protective film or try to replace it. She doesn't interfere. It is important to note that the Chinese in fake Casio watch They did not regret installing a normal expensive battery at as much as 3 volts (number 4). Exactly the same one is used in motherboards.

Carefully pry up the battery mount and the battery itself with a sharp, thin tool (number 3), so that only the circuit board remains visible. Then, very carefully separate it from the inner plastic case of the watch (number 5). Attention! Be careful not to damage the thin strip of contacts on the LCD screen. Also, be sure to wipe the inside glass (number 7) of the watch, as caring Chinese leave fingerprints, fragments of metal shavings, and in some cases even hair there.

After the watch is disassembled, you need to prepare the donor quartz for transplantation into new board. For this, a small soldering iron is best suited, or a large one, but with a strong soldering iron attached to it. copper wire. For example, as shown in the photo.

At the beginning, carefully, so as not to damage the board, you need to desolder the original quartz (number 8), then unsolder the donor one from a reliable watch (number 9). And solder it in this case to Casio. If you are afraid yourself, then ask a radio amateur you know.

Then repeat all steps in reverse order and assemble the clock. Just remember to install all the fasteners correctly, so that the strip of contacts on the LCD screen fits snugly against the contact on the board. Also remember that it is best to wipe fingerprints left on the glass with alcohol, otherwise they will remain there for a long time. Keep in mind the size of the screws. Despite their truly tiny size, the holes for them in the case and the watch itself must match very precisely. Due to the fact that when forcibly screwing in an installed small element, it is very easy to damage the thread. Of course, this can be corrected with larger screws, but such inch-sized parts are not so easy to find on hand. Therefore, it is better to try it on seven times than to twist it ten times.

In this watch, the mode control buttons rise too high above the body. Because of this, when moving the brush, the switch from 24 to 12 hour mode on the right side is constantly triggered. What prevents you from perceiving time? To solve the problem, the author of these lines used small wire cutters. Since the buttons are metal, and therefore excess material can be bitten off. But you need to be careful not to damage the case. After all, after the button is cut, it needs to be trimmed with a small file. And this can leave scratches. At all this operation It is better to spend it on a disassembled watch. But there is always the possibility that more will be bitten off than required. In any case, filing the button solves the described problem.

3. Upgrade

After such a small but necessary upgrade, Chinese fake clones of popular electronic watches become exactly the same analogues. Meeting the requirements of Soviet GOST. In fact, for 3-5 dollars you can assemble the functionally same accessory for which branded manufacturers charge from 25 to 150 US dollars using only high-quality quartz.
