Overhead headphones sennheiser momentum on ear ivory. Review of wireless headphones Sennheiser Momentum M2 Wireless (AEBT)

Among music lovers, Bluetooth headphones with good noise reduction. Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless is one of them. For 15,000 rubles you will get stylish, comfortable headphones with excellent workmanship. They have a pleasant and slightly distant sound, the purity of which we can still criticize.

Advantages:

Top quality workmanship and wearing comfort
Good sound
Active Noise Cancellation

Flaws:

Sound picture lacks clarity and presence
Bluetooth connection not so stable
Sony and Bose have better Noise Cancelling

When style is everything

We recently compared the four most famous headphone models from Sony, Sennheiser, Bose and Beats within. But besides the PXC550 reviewed there, Sennheiser has a Momentum 2 Wireless model.

The PXC550, with its serious design, is aimed at those users who value functionality more than appearance devices. And Momentum 2s look more expressive (especially in the “ivory” color option) and push the Noise Cancelling feature into the background. These headphones sound more restrained, but can please lovers of stylish gadgets.

Here, Senneheiser abandoned the use of sensors: the sound control on the Momentum 2 is carried out in a classic way through mechanical elements. We liked the buttons on those much better than the PXC550's naughty touchpad, although the Momentum's Play/Pause switch is still too small. Like the PXC550, the Momentum 2 Wireless can be folded up for easy portability. A matching case is included with the headphones.

Headphones look not only stylish, but also of high quality: plastic ear cushions in a wide leather upholstery, and a metal bow covered with leather. They sit comfortably: the "ears" have a small degree of mobility, and the wide frame is pleasantly pressed against the head. The earphones stay in place well and do not slip even with quick head movements.

Sound is great but not perfect

The sound of the Momentum Wireless can definitely be called decent, but during the test tests it did not lead us to much enthusiasm even despite the support for the improved aptX Bluetooth-Sound codec. Sennheisers have a soft, simple and really pleasant sound, but they lack clarity and liveliness.

In a direct comparison of the two models, the PXC550 sound is crisper and clearer, it pleases with a pronounced effect of presence and fullness of voice reproduction. But the PXC550s get overdriven at high frequencies and start to crackle. In this regard, Momentum 2.0 Wireless has an advantage: in the upper frequency range, the headphones do their job much more accurately.

The bass is balanced here - those who need more pressure should try listening to the Sony WH-1000XM2. Regarding the PXC550, as well as the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II and Bowers & Wilkins PX that we took for comparison, the Momentum sound picture is cloudy and poor in detail. The voices lack intimacy, naturalness and fullness. But all these are features that can only be heard in direct comparison. By themselves, Momentum has no flaws that can darken the pleasure of music.

What conclusion can we draw? The sound of the headphones from is very decent, but in this price category you can find "ears" and better. Value for money here let us down, but if the style and appearance of the device is important to you, Momentum will become good choice.

No one will hear your music

So far, no one has been able to compare with Noise Cancelling systems from Sony and Bose. So Momentum 2 Wireless has a noise reduction function that hides primarily low-frequency noise. You won't hear with these headphones. deep sound running engine and you can listen to music on the go without interference. But at the same time, you will clearly hear all the cars and people passing by. The Sony WH-1000XM2 and Quiet Comfort 35 II suppress external noise not quite perfectly, but noticeably better than Sennheiser headphones.

But you can be sure that no one will hear your music - even at maximum volume, it practically does not break out. You will definitely not disturb others if you decide to listen to your favorite song in a public place. As is the case with many noise-canceling headphones, the user will hear background noise and microphone rustles from the wind that blows over the ear pads.

Almost 21 hours of continuous work

Headphones from Sennheiser will work without recharging more than 20 hours

How long can these Bluetooth headphones last? The length of time with the noise canceling function activated here is decent: during the test tests, the Momentum Wireless managed to last 20 hours and 46 minutes.

You cannot turn off or fine-tune the parameters, as in the case of the PXC550, with the Noise Cancelling system. Nevertheless, this model can work in passive mode without noise reduction with an empty battery. It takes 114 minutes to fully charge the device.

Bluetooth not picking up through walls

The stability of the -connection of the tested model leaves much to be desired. In line-of-sight conditions, we did not record any interruptions, but when a wall appeared between the sound source and the headphones, problems began. The music stopped playing as soon as the smartphone was two rooms away. If you want to move freely around the apartment, you will certainly encounter certain difficulties. For everyday use when the smartphone and headphones are on the user's body, there are no restrictions.

All the Bluetooth headphones we tested, most of which do not have Noise Cancelling, can be found in our.

There is a tendency among gadget makers to refer to the smaller versions as mini, and one would have guessed that Sennheiser would call the compact Momentum headphone model Momentum mini. But the Germans wanted to stand out and called the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear. I bring to your attention a review of the new headphones with retro style - Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear.

At the first meeting, Sennheiser headphones Momentum On-Ear made a good impression, metal and high-quality materials, microfiber, covers of various colors make themselves felt. The first time I put them on my head, they seemed a little stiff and put pressure on my head, but being smart, I straightened the metal arcs a little and the level of comfort increased. Even after such a fraud, I would not call the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear the most comfortable headphones, don’t think that they sit terribly, on a ten-point scale I can safely give them 7-8, it’s quite normal to listen to music in them for a long time. On the other hand, everyone's head is different, and some people may like these headphones, or vice versa. Here you have to try.

In general, the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear are well made, so to speak balanced - not too heavy and not too light. The design seems solid (there is no desire to carry out crash tests), most quickly due to the use of high-quality materials and metal.

In terms of features, the headphones have a detachable cable, and you get both a standard cable plus a cable that has integrated remote with microphone (works with Apple gadgets) for phones and track switching (some of the functions will not work with mobile devices not Apple). Like the older model, the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear has a non-folding design, but this flaw is slightly offset by the presence of a carrying case.

Case Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear

Performance

  • Frequency range: 16 - 22,000 Hz
  • Impedance: 18ohms
  • THD:<0.5%
  • Other Features: Microphone, Remote Control, Volume Control, Shielded, Stereo Sound
  • Form Factor: Ear
  • Cable length: 140 cm

Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear have a strong sound, you will never feel that something is lost in the track. The purity of sound is the main feature of the headphones, well, the bass has not gone anywhere. This is a powerful and excellent bass, even better than the V-Moda CrossFade M-80s. Momentum On-Ear sound more open and less "conservative" than the M-80. The headphone's stumble-free bass will delight fans of EDM, rock, and hip-hop music.

The ears of the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear sound slightly warmer and richer compared to their older brother. Just as detailed, but the acoustic instruments and vocals have a more natural, rich tone, which I liked. Orchestral music comes through in full, but the stereo “picture” is bigger and more spacious on the Sennheiser Momentum.

Remote Control Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear

We compared these headphones with Bowers & Wilkins P3, and they turned out to be very different. The P3s sound soft and calm, with much less detail, from deep bass to treble. The sound in the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear is immediate, with bass felt deep and precise, while the P3 barely hints at bass. The vocals seemed to me the best on the P3, Sennheiser kind of thins the sound. I can’t say that someone is better, and someone is worse, each headphone is good in its own way, but when counting the pros and cons, I can say that the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear is the undisputed leader.

Conclusion
I liked the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear headphones. They provide good sound for a headphone in this price range, and have a nice, solid look with excellent build quality. There is also a remote control with a microphone, which allows you to use the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear as a headset to the phone (although you can only switch songs from the iphone). Well, do not forget about the different colors of design.

Sennheiser electronic is a German manufacturer of audio recording, broadcasting and playback equipment. The company was founded in 1945.

Attention!
This review is solely the subjective opinion of the author.

Let me tell you the most important thing: Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear - e The sound I've been looking for!

It would seem that you have to pay a high price for high quality, but here Sennheiser break stereotypes.
My previous headphones from this company were Sennheiser HD650, I also often had to listen and compare the sound in Sennheiser HD598. At Sennheiser HD650 was the best sounding I've ever heardThe Sennheiser HD598 is a little simpler, the stage is a bit narrower and there are some problems in the lower frequency range (they seem to be qualitatively, but they are not quantitatively). In general, everything is fine with them, but there is a small jamb- they are not portable. Yes, I tried to walk down the street with them, but I had to carry a brick in the form of Fiio Mont Blanc E12, and it looked funny.

Sennheiser HD650 and The Sennheiser HD598 are great open-back headphones with good sounding right, but sounding right isn't delicious, it's like eating unseasoned rice and convincing yourself that it's the right food. It's another thing to throw a delicious favorite sauce into a plate of unleavened rice! It is in the modelMomentum 2.0, the developers added this very sauce and did not overdo it, as is the case with Sony MDR-1A.

When buying, I compared the following models:

  • Sony MDR-1A - bust on low frequencies, decent sound in the rest of the range, they sit very comfortably

  • Sony MDR-100A (direct competitors) - bust on lows and strong bust on low mids (or upper lows),The mids are relegated to the background, the top is present, but of less quality and in less quantity than in Sennheiser Momentum 2.0

  • JBL E45BT - a completely different level of headphones (I don’t know why I compared)

  • Beats Solo 2 bust on bass, mids are strongly relegated to the background, above about 14 kHz nothing is heard anymore(I do not understand people who buy such headphones)

  • Bose SoundLink - really liked the sound of these miniature headphones, a bit lacking in high compared to Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 on-ear. Excellent headphones in sound / size ratio

  • Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear - sounds similar toSony MDR-1A, but there is no such strong search for low frequencies, a kind of golden mean between monitor and basshead models

My criteria for choosing headphones before buying:

  • high sensitivity and low impedance for use with a telephone without the use of an additional amplifier

  • headset to control media player

  • not very long cable (on previous headphones the cable was 3 meters long)

  • comfort in use

  • average sound insulation

Package
A cardboard box with a photo of the headphones themselves and mentions that this is a model for the iPhone, iPod, iPad (the M2 OEG model was developed for Android). On the back of the box there are a lot of inscriptions in different EU languages (no Russian). Next comes the manufacturer's address and an indication that the headphones were designed and manufactured in Germany (the previous ones were assembled in England). Under the lid, everything is in foam rubber with a recess for a hard case, in which there is a soft case in which the Germans hid the headphones themselves (a needle in an egg, an egg in a duck, a duck in a hare, a hare in a chest, etc.). It remains a mystery why the hard case was made so big, when folded the headphones are much smaller, and when unfolded they do not fit into it, perhaps two such headphones will fit in it when folded (I don’t have a second one, I haven’t tried it), or a model Over-Ear when folded.

Equipment
In addition to the headphones themselves, there are two cases inside (soft and hard) for carrying (I don’t need them, I always wear headphones around my neck).

Design
The ear cups are attached to a metal bow on a ball mechanism for a comfortable fit on the ears. Sturdy steel loops of the folding structure are spot-welded on the side of the cups, and on the side of the headband are fixed with 4 massive steel rivets.
The headphones are equipped with a 1.4 m single-sided cable with a straight 3.5 mm plug. The cable can be unfastened by turning counterclockwise (it can be replaced with OEG for Android, or fold into a separate pocket in a hard case). The cable has a slight memory effect but does not tangle.
On top of the headphone cases there are holes for phase inverters. On the reverse side of the headphone cases there are inserts with the manufacturer's logo. On the inner side of the arc, the headphones are marked with the letters "R" and "L", the channel markings are also applied on the outer side of the arc of the left cup in the form of 3 raised dots.

materials
The headphone cups are made of plastic with metal round inserts with laser engraved manufacturer's logo. The headband is made of durable stainless steel covered with stitched suede. High-quality headphone wire with soft PVC insulation. The headset is made of plastic. The material of the ear cushions is soft to the touch and passes air well (so that the ears do not sweat), does not tan and does not tear when exposed. Plug with gold-plated contacts.

Design
Headphones are made in the style of "retro", have a strict and discreet design, and the mixture of brown color of the headband with ivory color of the ear cups looks very stylish. The Sennheiser Momentum headphones combine style and ergonomics, looking solid and solid.

Comfort and ergonomics
The earphones fit well on the head, do not fall off and do not hinder movement. After a proper fit on the ears, the design is absolutely not annoying, despite the weight of 160 g.

Compatibility
Headphones are compatible with any smartphones, tablets and portable players, they are easily swayed even by the weakest amplifier. Sensitivity to recording quality is much higher than average. Headphones are great for fans of electronic music such as Dubstep, Chillstep, Hip, and since they are also "fast", they are great for Breakbeat and Drum and bass. Using the headset, you can stop / start the player, rewind / fast forward tracks, adjust the volume, give instructions to the Siri voice assistant and communicate on the phone (pick up the phone / end the call).

Noise isolation
Noise isolation is average. Loud noise interferes with listening to music. There is no effect of noise from the wire when walking or actively moving the cable.

Sound
The headphones were "warmed up" for 72 hours. For testing, we used an Apple iPhone 5s mobile phone (I have a Xuelin 770 NEW portable Hi-Fi player on my hands, but I didn’t buy headphones for use with it, moreover, the difference with the Apple iPhone 5s in a blind test with a switch is noticeable only on some rare tracks (here many will throw stones at me)). From the available works, a conditionally random selection of various genres, both live and electronic music, was made, all listening records were exclusively in lossless (ALAC) formats.
low frequencies. Low frequencies are slightly raised relative to the rest of the frequency range, they sound good and tight.
Medium frequencies. The mids are slightly relegated to the background compared to the lows and even less compared to the highs. The mids sound good, pretty clean, good detail, female and male vocals in their place. Secondary instruments are heard a little worse, which does not have the best effect on instrumental musical styles.
High frequencies. The upper frequencies are slightly raised relative to the mid-frequency range, clean, transparent, do not hurt the ear,

Headphones have a slight emphasis on the lower frequencies. The overall sound of the headphones is darkish, the frequency response can be represented as a letter "U" with a slightly lowered right edge of the letter (the upper frequency range is raised above the mid-frequency range, but is lower than the low-frequency one). In general, the headphones have a frequency response that is ideal for my hearing and any experiments with the equalizer only exacerbate the situation. I loved this sound. If you take into account the price, the sound is very decent and worth every $ invested!

Reliability
When you pick up these headphones, it becomes clear that their construction is very reliable, despite the fact that it is foldable. E If you're not a fool with your headphones, they'll last a long time. Dynamic radiators are very resistant to overload, they do not lock up at high volume, they do not rattle.

conclusions
Headphones are durable construction, made of very high-quality materials and produce an excellent "delicious" sound. They sit very well on the ears and they sound much more expensive than they are asked for.
An important advantage of the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 headphones, in addition to sound, is also their portability, which allows you to enjoy sound almost anywhere. If you have a question about purchasing good, sturdy, stylish portable headphones, then definitely look towards the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0.

Advantages
Excellent "DELICIOUS" sound! (NOT MONITOR)
Durable metal frame
Ergonomics
Comfort (no sweaty ears)
Workmanship
Material quality
Appearance
Noise isolation at a good level
Folding design

Flaws
It takes a bit to get used to the "blind" control using the headset

The topic of high-quality portable audio is now more relevant than ever. A huge fleet of mobile devices has many owners who are not indifferent to the musical theme, who choose their headphones very carefully and are ready to pay a good price for advanced solutions - especially wireless ones. Both newfangled brands with a young history and classic brands, whose recognition has been won for many decades, are fighting for their attention.

The German company Sennheiser is one such pillar of home and professional audio. They have many iconic models to their credit, including the world's first open acoustic design headphones. Naturally, their line simply could not do without current wireless models. Meet the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear Wireless, Bluetooth on-ear headphones for the era of mobile entertainment!

Design

First of all, let's remember that headphones are not only a means of listening to music, but also a stylish accessory. Naturally, everyone wants them to be a kind of decoration, and for this you need a bright, unique design that would become a weapon in the fight for buyers.

Appearance Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear Wireless stands out from the rest of the brand's models. Their well-thought-out and practical design with an emphasis on minimalism will be equally loved by amateurs and pros alike. In addition, the design successfully combines elements of retro and modern style, which makes this model recognizable. Not forgotten are the embellishments in the form of company logos and the Momentum line on the headband and cup fasteners.

In the second version of Momentum, a lot of work has been done in terms of overall comfort of the headphones. Now they have a convenient folding design, so the headphones take up less space when stored in the carrying case supplied in the kit. Some users of the first generation Momentum complained that the cups were harsh and put too much pressure on their ears during prolonged listening. This nuance is taken into account: the Momentum 2.0 On-Ear cups fit more gently to the ears, and the ear cushions are filled with softer and more pliable two-layer foam material. Now no fatigue is felt even after several hours of continuous listening!

As usual, Sennheiser didn't skimp on materials. Of course, Momentum 2.0 On-Ear feels expensive and high-end headphones: the ear pads and headband are trimmed with Alcantara, a very hardy synthetic material that resembles natural suede to the touch. In addition, it provides the ears with good ventilation and does not absorb moisture. The headband made of brushed stainless steel provides the necessary flexibility and strength, and you don’t have to worry about the integrity of the headphones: everything is assembled and adjusted to the conscience.

There are two color options to choose from: a black version will appeal to lovers of the classics, and there is also an option with ivory cups in combination with a coffee-colored headband and ear cushions. Such a noble combination will suit real stylists!

Control and characteristics

The controls, as well as the on/off button, are located on the right cup of the headphones. They are convenient to use blindly, without being distracted from listening. Like many Bluetooth devices, the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear has built-in voice prompts with a pleasant female voice. He tells you when the headphones are ready for use and warns that the battery is low, and it's time to put the device on recharging.

By the way, the battery life at moderate volume is up to 22 hours - an impressive result, for a whole day of active listening, one charge is always enough. The range in wireless mode reaches 10 meters, and the stability of the connection is not satisfactory. In a noisy air, short-term interference is possible, but in practice this happens extremely rarely.

In addition to using the Bluetooth 4.0 wireless protocol for connectivity, the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear headphones have built-in Active Noise Canceling for maximum intelligibility in traffic, flights and other noisy environments. To pair with sound sources, it is convenient to use the built-in NFC tag: bring the headset to the corresponding smartphone, and voila, the devices have found a common language and established a Bluetooth connection without any hassle and searching.

If you need to connect your headphones to a non-Bluetooth device, a 1.4m cable with a low-profile 3-pin mini-jack (3.5mm) optimized for mobile devices is included. But it can be replaced with any other cable you like.

Support for the aptX codec provides improved audio quality when streaming wirelessly from devices equipped with this feature. For a long time, Bluetooth was the bottleneck for wireless headphones, giving a reduced sound spectrum - but now it's in the past! Curiously, when wired, the headphones sound even a little better and more dynamic - real purists should take note of this.

As for the general technical characteristics, the headphones have a closed acoustic design for better noise isolation (including active). The declared sensitivity of 113 dB allows you to accurately convey the dynamics of a piece of music even at moderate volumes. The frequency range, according to the manufacturer, is 16-22000 Hz: the entire useful audible range is worked out with a margin, so not a single detail will escape your attention. Finally, the low impedance of 18 ohms allows them to be used with a wide range of audio sources, including low-power portable devices, without loss in sound quality and assertiveness.

It is worth mentioning separately that the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear is equipped with a built-in microphone, so, strictly speaking, these headphones belong to the class of headsets for mobile devices. When connected to a smartphone, you can answer calls without taking the device out of your pocket, which is very convenient. Your voice is heard in headphones, so it's comfortable to talk in any conditions, and it does not intuitively pull you to raise your voice to "shout" the surroundings.

Sound

The sound quality of the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear is consistently top notch, making it one of the smartest wireless headphones you can find. Firstly, they retain excellent sound detail when connected via Bluetooth. There are no extraneous artifacts or extra coloration, and the aptX connection sounds even better: here, even the most ardent supporters of a wired connection will have nothing to complain about. However, you can always switch to wires: as already mentioned, the headphones work quietly through a standard 3.5 mm plug, including the headset mode with a microphone.

In the tonal balance, the low frequencies are especially emphasized. This is not the first time Sennheiser has emphasized the bass, but without crime: just enough to give the music extra density without clogging the rest of the spectrum. This hardly affects the transparency of the mid and high frequencies! Therefore, listen to music on the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear both at home and on the street: the necessary pressure is already achieved at a moderate volume and does not dissipate if you find yourself in a noisy environment. This is where Active Noise Cancellation comes in.

It's no secret that over-ear headphones themselves have an average level of noise isolation. Closed cups and delicate Alcantara ear cushions block out only some of the extraneous sounds, but do not greatly isolate low-frequency noises, such as the rumble of traffic. To avoid blurring, Sennheiser built active noise cancellation into the Momentum 2.0 On-Ear. It analyzes extraneous sounds with the help of 4 microphones, and adds this signal in an inverted form (ie the sound wave "inside out") to the sounding music. As a result, 90% of extraneous noise is successfully suppressed, especially those very low-frequency components! At the same time, you do not find yourself in complete isolation and do not “fall out of reality”, so walking with such headphones on the street or in the subway is still safe.

Conclusion

The Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 On-Ear Wireless is an evolution of the popular line of headphones that is heading in the right direction. The biggest step has been taken, perhaps, in the direction of ergonomics and comfort: the new ear cushions do not tire at all during long listening, and the headphones have received a reliable folding design for easy carrying.

If we talk about their sound characteristics, then everything is already on top: excellent detail and dynamics both with a Bluetooth connection and via a wire. Ultimately, the Momentum 2.0 On-Ear isn't exactly surgically accurate, but it's precisely honed to make listening to music bright and comfortable, no matter where you are. A moderate emphasis on low frequencies is appropriate, because it does not harm the rest of the spectrum. This combination will satisfy the tastes of most listeners. A separate bonus is the active noise reduction system, which helps to overcome noise that is not extinguished by overhead ear pads.

In the bottom line, we have stylish and high-quality headphones that are perfect for portable devices, and can also work as a headset for a smartphone. An excellent choice for modern people who want to complement their street image and wear their favorite wireless headphones for most of the day!

Up until last year, it was typical for Sennheiser to release headphones with rather trivial designs. However, with the release of the elegant Sennheiser Momentum set of headphones, everything has changed.

The Sennheiser Momentum On Ear are, you guessed it, an on-ear alternative to their over-ear predecessors. They are also cheaper - 8000 rubles. Just like their larger siblings, they are labeled as the "Best Headphone Set" in their class.

Design

The headphone market is one of the fastest growing, and it just lacked headphones in the style of the Sennheiser Momentum On Ear.

The Momentum series is initially aimed at a more “adult” audience than models such as, for example,. You don't have to look super stylish to wear them.

Their design, even compared to the original Momentum models, is less intimidating, partly due to the colors they come in. Four colors are available for your choice - pink, pistachio (green), blue and cream - all in soft shades. Sennheiser has hinted that bolder red and black versions will be available in the upcoming winter collection.

Like any good portable earphone, the Sennhesier Momentum On Ear are quite light, yet they are reasonably well built. The headband is made of a single piece of flexible steel, the ear cups are made of high quality molded plastic, they are topped with a soft material called Alacantra, which in our opinion is a bit like camel skin, in fact, it is the latest generation of man-made fiber.

The material feels like suede or velor to the touch, but it is more durable and resistant to deformation in everyday life. Alakantra is durable, water-resistant and - most importantly - quite comfortable for your ears. This is the same material that is used in .

All on-ear headphones cause a bit of discomfort as they put enough pressure on your ears to ensure a comfortable fit, but the Sennheiser Momentum On-ear are certainly among the most comfortable in their class. Alakantra, internal inserts and headband make the headphones very pleasant to use.

However, alacanthra causes one big problem - the most serious drawback of the Sennheiser Momentum On Ear. Its name is poor noise isolation.

On the London Underground, for example, headphones struggle to "compete" with the noise. Over-ear headphones in general often have poor noise isolation, but this is especially bad. If you're on a regular train rather than the subway, isolation is still acceptable, but if you're going to listen to music in particularly noisy areas, think twice before buying the Sennheiser Momentum On-ear.

The rest of the headphones can not find fault. They come with a convenient detachable cable with a 3-button iOS remote control, they are well designed, feel like a real product and don't look as outrageous as their competitors.

Sound quality

The Sennheiser Momentum On Ear drivers are no surprises. It uses 40mm dynamic loudspeakers, Momentum On Ear are classified as closed-back headphones.

As with all portable headphones, you can't claim studio sound. These are flat headphones that do not have super features, but they sound quite pleasant and fun.

The headphones have a slight bass shift and the same mid-range performance that we loved so much in the base Momentum model. Despite the fact that they are much cheaper than their famous "brothers", there is no catastrophic decrease in sound quality.

A particularly commendable feature of the Momentum On Ear is that while they are not completely neutral, the headphones are extremely well balanced. Bass strikes clearly and as needed, bass control is much better than in almost all other headphones in this direction. Headphones do not shift the focus and do not "tread" the mids and high frequencies, as competing with them.

The upper frequencies in these headphones are very clear, despite the fact that the upper limit is quite "calm". These headphones are more for enjoyment than crisp high-frequency micro-detail. And, as is quite common in headphones of this class, the mids are a little low - however, a slight V-shaped sound is very easy to perceive.

In terms of sonic character, the Momenum On-ears are very similar to the full-sized Momenums. And this is their undeniable advantage.

Conclusion

Our reaction to the Sennheiser Momentum On-ear was the same as to their full-size brothers. We like them very much. They sound exhilarating and fun, without the sonic flair found in many competing headphones.

However, they do have a drawback - their sound insulation is not very good. If you buy these headphones and use them on public transport and noisy streets, you will be in trouble. These headphones do not isolate you from the outside world. We weren't put off by this, however, if you're looking for a set of well-isolating headphones, look elsewhere.

pros:

  • Excellent sound quality, colorful sound;
  • Powerful subbass;
  • Good design and construction.

Minuses:

  • Mediocre soundproofing.
