Loading error Unable to load Internal memory is unavailable. Not enough free memory on Android

This is the question we received from one of the users of our site, Alexey. He writes that when downloading an application from Google Play Market displays the error: “The application could not be loaded. There is not enough space in the device memory." At the same time, there is plenty of memory space - at least several gigabytes, while the size of the downloaded application is only a few megabytes. What to do, what to do?

This is what the error looks like when downloading the application:

Let’s say right away that there is no single solution to this problem, so let’s consider various options that can help cope with the problem.

Clearing the cache in the Google Play app

If you believe numerous reviews on the RuNet, the first thing the user needs to do is clear the cache for Google apps Play. It is primarily recommended to take this action in cases where there is a lot of space on the device, but the application is not installed.

Go to the settings of your phone or tablet.

Select the “Applications” section.

Find the Google app Play Store or Google Services Play (the name may vary depending on the firmware) and tap on it.

Here, click on the “Erase data” button, then “Clear cache”.

After that, try to install the application from the Market. This method should help you.

Make sure there is actually enough memory

In some cases, the available memory may not be correct. For example, you think there are a few more gigabytes of memory available, but in reality there are only a few megabytes available. To make sure you have free memory, go to settings and select the “Memory” section.

As you can see, in our case there is very little free memory and if you install applications several hundred megabytes in size, there really won’t be enough space.

Clear the contents of your device

If there is really not enough memory, you need to get rid of junk and unnecessary applications, as well as files.

To delete temporary files, cache data, etc., it is better to use special application, for example, Clean Master. Download it, run it, then click on the “Trash” button.

When the system finds all unnecessary and temporary files, simply click on the “Clean” button.

This way you can free up quite a lot of space, but if it is still not enough, we recommend deleting unused applications that are usually always present.

In some cases, the memory is occupied by various files, for example, music, video files, photos, etc. They must be removed manually, preferably using file manager. We use ES Explorer. Find the file or folder that you want to delete, tap on it, highlight it and click on the trash can icon.

Often there can be a lot of such files and deleting them frees up a huge amount of memory.

Transfer applications to a memory card

If you have a memory card and have the ability to transfer applications to it from the main memory, use this option so as not to delete applications.

To do this, go to settings, then to the “Applications” section. Select here the right application and click on the “Move to SD card” button (in our case, the button says “Go to SD card”).

Please note that system applications are not migrated. It is possible that your device does not have the ability to transfer applications to a memory card at all.

What else can help?

Tips from the web that may or may not help. If they are worth using, it is only in the most extreme cases, when nothing helps at all. You can also try:

  • Uninstall updates for the Google Play application.
  • Delete cache and data not only for the Google Play application, but also for the Google Service Framework.
  • Clear Dalvik cache using .
  • Do . In this case, all data will be cleared and files will be deleted.

Which differ in their parameters. One of the most important parameters is the amount of memory of the device. Some manufacturers make smartphones even without an SD card slot, as they produce devices with a considerable amount of internal memory, for example 64GB or 128GB. But no matter how much memory your smartphone has, even if you have an SD card, sometimes the Play Store throws up an error when downloading with the message “Insufficient memory on the device.”

Really out of memory

Sometimes apps won't download because the phone has actually run out of memory. So you need some applications etc. If you free up some memory, you can download new applications.

Error when downloading heavy games

The second situation is when the error Insufficient memory on the Android device appears when downloading heavy games (GTA, Most Wanted, etc.). There may be several options here.

The first option is when there is not enough space on the memory card. The cache of a heavy game takes up more than 2GB, and is often installed on a memory card (if you have one) and located in the “Android” folder. And if your memory card is full to capacity, then you certainly won’t have enough space for a cache. To do this, clean the SD card so that the Play Market does not throw up an error.

And the second option is when inner memory is the default. And again, you don't have enough memory to load the cache. In this case, in the settings you need to set the SD card as the default memory. Then everything you download from the Play Store will be downloaded to the flash drive.

There is a lot of memory, but an error appears

This is a glitch of the Play Store itself, but it can be easily solved.

If you have Android version 4.4.2 and lower, proceed as follows:

  • Go to settings;
  • Select the “Applications” item;
  • We are looking for Google Play Market (Do not confuse it with Google services);
  • Click "Clear cache".

After that, try downloading the desired application again. If the error continues to appear, then go to Settings, Applications again, and select Play Store.

  • Click “Erase data”;
  • Click “Uninstall updates”.

After this, you can launch the Play Store. If an error appears and the phone will not connect to the Market, restart the phone.

After these steps, the Play Store's appearance will change slightly, since you erased the updates, and now you have old version program, but it works. Over time, the Market will be updated to a new version.

Now let's talk about Android 5.0 and higher.

With newer versions of Android, all the steps are almost the same:

  • Go to settings;
  • Let's go to applications;
  • We look for the Play Market and select it;
  • Tap on the “Storage” tab.
  • Click “Clear cache”.

Let's try to download the program. If the error continues, then go back and erase the data in the same place where you cleared the cache. Press the back button, then tap on the three dots on the right top corner and click on “Uninstall updates”. Reboot your smartphone and rejoice.

If none of the methods helped

In this case, two versions: either software glitch, or . In any case, first install antivirus program. Just download it in .apk format from a third-party site. Then install an antivirus and scan the system. If you find a virus, then remove it. If the system is virus-free, then only a system reset will help.

To do a reset, go to settings, scroll down and click on “Backup and reset”, and then click on “Reset settings”. The system will return to factory settings.

Conclusion

No one is immune from this error, when there is not enough memory on the Android device. She can appear at any moment.

In this article, we tried to figure out why such an error still appears, and also examined methods for solving it.

Many owners of Android devices face the problem of full memory.

It seems like there aren’t many user files saved, but the drive is still full. There are several reasons for this problem - consider each of them.

But first, a note for novice users. The largest amounts of memory are usually occupied by videos. We recommend going to the “Gallery” and checking your smartphone for unnecessary materials. Unused videos, downloaded movies, video clippings - all this accumulates in the file system and takes up memory. Delete unnecessary videos, photos and other data downloaded from WhatsApp or other apps and instant messengers. They are saved in a separate folder located in DCIM.

Clearing phone cache

First of all, you need to clear the cache on your Android smartphone. There are several cleaning methods. Let's start with the basic settings:

  1. Open your smartphone's settings.
  2. Go to the “Memory” or “Storage” section.
  3. Select the “Cache Data” section and click the “Delete Cache” button.
  4. Next, click “OK” to complete the cleanup.

Also, the cache memory on Android is cleared through (which recently). Here is a cleaning method using the CCleaner utility as an example (the program is available on Google Play). After installing it, follow the following algorithm:

  1. Go to the application, select the “Clear cache and memory” option and click on the “Analysis” button.
  2. Once the system scan is complete, check the “Cache” option and select “Clear.”
  3. Cache, temporary files and other garbage are automatically deleted from the phone.

If you have any questions, be sure to study for more details. Note that one of the most effective methods for clearing cache memory is in.

Cleaning up unnecessary files

Large amounts of unwanted data most often accumulate in download or messenger folders, as well as in the hidden .thumbnails directive. We recommend a thorough analysis file system. The disk analyzer DiskUsage, which is also downloaded from Google Play, is suitable for this operation.

After installation, go to the program and select the “Memory Card” option. All data that is on the device is collected here. Select unnecessary file and delete it. To do this, go to the menu in the upper corner of the screen and click the “Delete” button.

DiskUsage is suitable for individually deleting files and analyzing disk space, but the application is inconvenient for mass cleaning of the system. Also, you won’t be able to view media files here - for this it is recommended to use some kind of explorer or.

Deleting files from the hidden folder.thumbnails

Located in the DCIM folder - in the gallery where photos and videos are stored. Thumbnails stores thumbnails of media files so that the smartphone can load thumbnail tiles faster in the future. Over time, several gigabytes of thumbnails accumulate, especially if the owner of the device likes to take pictures or shoot videos.

For example, one of the editorial office’s smartphones stores 500 photos. The size of the thumbnails.thumbnails folder is 1 GB. This space can be easily freed up.

Since the .thumbnails directive is hidden by default, you won’t be able to access it through the gallery. To diagnose and delete thumbnails, it is recommended to download the Total Comander application. Next you need to do the following:

  1. Go to installed application Total Comander and find the .thumbnails folder there (it is located in the DCIM folder).
  2. Under the list of saved thumbnails in the lower left corner of the screen there is a “Select” button - click it.
  3. Then click on the cross at the bottom of the panel to delete existing thumbnails.

The only drawback to this operation is that now the thumbnails will load a little slower. After clearing the .thumbnails folder, the device will start creating new thumbnails again. To prevent this, you will need to block the creation of thumbnails.

How can I block thumbnail creation?

To avoid permanently deleting the contents of the .thumbnails folder, follow these steps:

  • Delete the .thumbnails folder and connect your smartphone to your PC.
  • On your computer, create an empty text file and give it a name .thumbnails(make sure the folder name is correct).
  • Next, this file is transferred to the phone in the DCIM folder.

Saving thumbnails will now stop because the system will not be able to create a new directive .thumbnails, since a folder with the same name already exists in the gadget. If for some reason this method did not work, follow the same steps, but instead .thumbnails, give the empty text file a name .nomedia.

Memory card

Logical and most simple solution If you don't have enough memory, you can buy a memory card (if your smartphone has a corresponding slot). When installing microSD on some devices, you will need to activate it, because by default the phone will continue to save files to the internal memory. Go to the “Memory/Storage” section and place a marker next to the “Memory Card” option.

It should be noted that smartphones running the latest versions of Android have the ability to combine internal storage with a memory card. In such cases, the smartphone itself will offer to make a connection after installing the card.

Reset

The most radical method of solving all system problems is to completely format or reset the gadget to . This method is recommended for use in cases where simple ways solutions to the problem did not bring the desired result.

To return your smartphone to factory settings, follow these steps:

  1. Go to settings and select the “Backup and reset” option.
  2. There are two options here: a reset without data loss and a reset together with a complete formatting of the drive. Choose the second option.
  3. Next, click “Reset settings” and wait for the procedure to complete.

Results

Memory problems vary, and so do their solutions. Start diagnosing the system by performing the most simple actions and deleting unnecessary games, applications, photos, videos and other files. Don't forget to add a memory card, clear cache and folder .thumbnails. If this doesn't help, try more drastic measures.

Here the situation is not as simple as it seems: it all depends on the device itself, namely, on the version of Android that is installed on it and on the processor architecture (ARM V6, ARM V7). In principle, one cannot exist without the other: on devices with ARM V6 architecture, the latest demanding versions of Android cannot be correctly installed, be it Android versions 4 (Jelly Bean, KitKat and earlier) and newer versions of Android (5-6 and so on) Further). This was the introduction.

Let's go further, if Google Play does not have enough memory to install a particular application, it means that there is not enough space in the device’s memory, where, in fact, all Google Play applications are initially installed; unfortunately, progress has not yet reached the point where standard means reconfigure Google Play to install applications directly onto a memory card or into the internal memory of the device.

How can we solve this problem? Of course, you need to free up your phone's memory so that there is enough space to install a new application from Google Play. You can clear your phone memory different ways, this is garbage cleaning, removal unnecessary applications etc. (see messages above), the most common way is to move existing applications in the device on the phone's memory to an SD memory card or to the internal built-in one, if available, to do this you need to go to Settings - Applications - Select any downloaded application in list and you will see there the corresponding transfer application button, if possible, transfer the standard or system application to an SD memory card is not possible.

Similar difficulties begin on devices with ARM V6 architecture and Android versions below 3.0.0, because initially there is very little phone memory available there, and not all applications can be transferred to an SD card, here you can’t help with standard means, you need to dance with a tambourine.

On the ARM V7 architecture and on Android version 4.0.0 or higher, there are no problems with this: there Google Play installs applications in the built-in internal memory, which is usually enough (from 8 GB and more) so that you don’t even have to buy additional cards Micro memory SD and anything to transfer to.

Conclusion: either spend it more money and live quietly, or just be creative.

This is how things are, I wrote purely from my own experience, I could be wrong about something.

More than ten years of use has made operating system Android is the most popular OS for smartphones and tablets. It is really very easy to use on mobile devices, since it takes up a very small amount of memory, has a simple interface and is compatible with many convenient applications.

However, Android developers have not been able to get rid of some shortcomings to this day. The most common problem is refusal to install applications due to an alleged lack of space in the device’s memory. Why is this happening? Let's try to figure out what to do in order to still install the necessary application.

If there really isn't enough memory

All applications that you install from Google Play, are automatically loaded into the device’s own memory. If the download attempt fails and the system reports that there is not enough memory for the installation, you should check how much free memory you actually have. The easiest way to do this is by opening the RAM tab in "Task Manager". If there is really not enough memory, press the button "Clear memory"- this will help get rid of obvious “garbage”.

The next stage of memory cleaning is deleting applications and files in manual mode. To do this, look at:

  • a list of applications and games, deleting those that you do not use or use very rarely;
  • list of downloaded files in a folder Download;
  • list of temporary files in a folder Temp(these can be removed completely);
  • list of SMS and MMS messages, leaving only those that contain the necessary information.

Look through the remaining applications and files and try to transfer everything that is possible from your own memory to the microSD card. If you are confident enough in the Android OS and have managed to get Root rights, go to the directory /data and clean the logs. By completing all the above operations, you will free up enough space to install the desired application.

Clean Master will help keep Android clean

Regular, thorough cleaning of your gadget's memory is performed using the application Clean Master, which you can easily find in Google Play. The program is completely free and Russified, takes up very little space and can be installed on all Android phones and tablets.

The application not only efficiently clears the memory of remnants of temporary files and other “garbage”, but also ensures that cleaning is performed regularly, periodically reminding you to “vacuum clean” the files of your gadget. The “Trash” tab in Clean Master analyzes the memory state and starts cleaning, the “Acceleration” tab optimizes the phone’s performance. Using the "Application Manager" you can delete unnecessary programs and games, without leaving memory-loading “tails”.

The memory is cleared, but the application still does not install

The most common cause of the problem is a full cache. Google Service Framework or Google Play. Just in case, clean both, for what:

  • open the settings menu;
  • select the Applications tab;
  • select Memory usage;
  • Find these applications in the list and stop them;
  • uninstall updates and clear the cache;
  • restart your gadget.

Typically, this operation helps get rid of memory deficiency in 99% of cases.

What if it didn't help?

There are two ways to radically solve the problem.

  1. Using the Folder Mount or Link2SD utilities, the phone's own memory is combined with microSD memory, becoming a single array. To do this you need to get Root rights, to the average user this operation is not available. In addition, you need to remember that microSD card after merging, it will actually become non-removable, so it makes sense to install a card of the maximum allowable capacity before merging.
  2. Reset your phone by restoring factory condition memory. In this case, as you know, the memory contents are reset to zero, and all previously downloaded files and applications disappear. Before deciding to take such a step, we advise you to make a “backup” necessary information to a desktop computer.
