Nokia X 2 specifications. Review and testing of the Nokia X2 Dual SIM smartphone

Almost every user dreams of budget smartphone with a capacious battery, but is it really possible to find one on the modern market? The question is quite complicated, because most devices hardly last until evening charging, and some even ask you to “eat” several times a day. While reviewing Nokia 2, we were pleasantly surprised by the results of its autonomy; this is exactly what sets it apart from numerous competitors from well-known and not so well-known brands.

He received budget processor Snapdragon 212, which negates performance, but really gives good time battery life. It turns out that on the one hand we are being offered a real long-liver, but on the other, these are almost all of its advantages. We will analyze how things stand with other characteristics as part of our review.

Equipment

Nokia 2 dual sim review moves on to the configuration, which is unremarkable. The smartphone is delivered in a simple, elongated package. Opening it, we see the gadget itself, charging with a power of 2A, detailed instructions with pictures (the smartphone is clearly not designed for young people), and also microUSB cable and a headset.

Nokia 2 review 2017 moves on to a design that immediately evokes associations with the once great brand. The case is only partially constructed of metal (the back side and ribs are made of plastic, only the frame is metal), but despite this, a feeling of reliability immediately arises and memories of push-button phones brands that were considered indestructible. The parts are tightly fitted to each other, thanks to which you can press on any part of the body and not see any play, although it is collapsible.

The Nokia 2 smartphone review demonstrates that by removing the cover we get access to the built-in battery of increased capacity - as much as 4100 mAh. There are also connectors located here - two for SIM cards and a separate one for microSD. Conveniently, replacing cards does not require a reboot. In general, the design of the smartphone looks very laconic and restrained.

There is a glossy brand logo on the back, a multimedia speaker in the lower right corner, and the main camera and flash are located in the upper part. They are built into a glass insert.

As the Nokia 2 ds review showed, the front side is entirely covered by glass. It is decorated with another logo occupying the upper right corner. Next to it were placed a front-facing camera and a conversational speaker. The navigation keys are on-screen and pop up as soon as you unlock the display.

The volume rocker and power control button are located on the right.

The port for connecting the charger was installed at the bottom.

A 3.5 mm mini-jack for the headset was installed on top.

The smartphone fits well in the hand due to its compact size and pleasant ergonomics. The matte coating prevents it from slipping in your hands and allows you not to worry that it will slip out and break. It is heavy for its size - 162 grams, thickness is 9.3 mm. This is most likely due to the use of a capacious battery, for which there is not much space in the case.

Display

Smartphone Nokia 2 dual sim black review shows that it has a good screen with HD resolution and a diagonal of 5 inches. The manufacturer managed to achieve perfect balance regarding its characteristics and energy consumption. It is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass 3 generations.

The image is clear, contrasty and with natural color reproduction. Viewing angles are acceptable, but far from standard. The sensor responds well to pressure. For the price, the screen is great and a pleasure to work with. In the settings, you can choose adaptive or manual brightness adjustment, set your font size and display scaling. But there is no possibility of flexible color settings. There is no eye protection mode here either.

Nokia 2 performance

Nokia 2 technical specifications hint that you won't be able to play much on it. In terms of its contents, it is inferior to most state employees of 2017; the emphasis here is only on autonomy. The smartphone runs on a Snapdragon 212 processor with 4 cores at 1.3 GHz. It is complemented by an Adreno 304 graphics accelerator, 1 GB of RAM and only 8 GB of user memory. You won’t be able to overclock it much here, even music will be difficult to fit into such a volume, so it’s better to immediately get a flash drive with a capacity of up to 128 GB.

Nokia 2 synthetic test results

The interface is quite slow, almost any action is accompanied by a delay - applications open with a certain pause, and there is a lack of power in literally everything. Under load, the case heats up noticeably in the left top corner. Web browsing is still good, but as soon as you open more than 5 tabs, it starts to slow down wildly.

Nokia smartphone 2 technical characteristics allow it to play videos well, both from the internal storage and online. But the smartphone copes poorly with more serious tasks; most games in it are terribly slow.

Nokia 2 2017 full review showed that the included headset has good sound, of course within its price category. But to listen to music it’s better to buy more good headphones. The external speaker is loud, but it doesn't sound very good at all.

Wireless interfaces

Nokia 2 ds black ta 1029 phone review showed that the smartphone supports the ability to accommodate two nanoSIMs with the ability to work in LTE networks. There is Bluetooth 4th generation, GPS and GLONASS, but let’s say right away that it takes a long time to find satellites.

Nokia 2 battery life

The Nokia 2 test makes it clear that autonomy is one of its strongest points, and the main emphasis is placed on it. The battery with a capacity of 4100 mAh lasted 15 hours in continuous video playback mode. Drying a smartphone within a day of use will be a very difficult task. Games take up about 15% of the charge per hour, although you are unlikely to play on Nokia 2, this is not what it was created for.

Nokia 2 camera review

The full review of the Nokia 2 smartphone moves on to photographic capabilities that you can't hope for with such an affordable price tag. The Camera app works slowly, which is especially noticeable when shooting in difficult conditions. When shooting in low light conditions, focusing takes a very long time, and after pressing the shutter button, several seconds pass until the moment the photo is taken.

Nokia 2 dual sim full review showed that the main module was equipped with a 5 megapixel resolution, autofocus and LED flash. The front camera resolution is even weaker - 5 megapixels. While during the day you can still get more or less passable pictures, at night the quality drops to the point of impossibility. You can’t count on macro photography at all - the camera focuses on nearby objects without much desire, especially when shooting in difficult conditions.

Nokia 2 2017 review revealed support for the HDR mode, which brings out details in the shadows a little better and improves detail overall.

The quality of the front panel is approximately comparable to the main module, only slightly inferior to it in terms of color rendition and detail. Video shooting can be done in 720p resolution, the videos turn out soapy, the images change too abruptly.

Conclusion

Nokia 2 is cheap smartphone with a huge battery - this is the most suitable characteristic. It has enough drawbacks in the form of poor performance, not only in games, but also in the interface. The camera is also impressive. But many will not pay attention to this, buying it as a simple work phone that can work for several days without being connected to a charger.

Positioning

In the line from Nokia, the Nokia 2 model is this moment the simplest one, it opens the lineup. But it is impossible to call this device the most inexpensive on the market, there is no shortage of offers in the 120 euro segment, and Nokia found a win-win option when they decided to choose a set of characteristics that have proven themselves in models from other companies and achieve correct ratio price quality. Such models have a large, capacious battery and fairly typical, minimal characteristics.

For the consumer, Nokia 2 is a device with for a long time work, which is aimed at those who make a lot of calls, play few games or do not play them at all. This is an excellent choice for those people who want to charge their phone less often, rarely watch movies and do not spend time on the Internet constantly. That is, social networks and calls are the main use of the device. And in this capacity, Nokia 2 fully justifies its positioning. Moreover, in the case of Nokia 2, we also see a good design of the case, which can ensure continuous use for several years. But expect updates for new ones Android versions possible only in theory (most likely Android Go), since the hardware characteristics of the model are modest.

Design, dimensions, control elements

By modern standards, when the market is dominated by smartphones with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and above, Nokia 2 looks like a compact device: dimensions - 143.5x71.3x9.3 mm, weight - 161 grams. A small smartphone that fits well in the hand. The aluminum frame, removable back cover with a matte finish - all this creates the impression of an expensive device, which this model from HMD Global cannot be called. In my opinion, this is a good example of the use of materials, the smartphone turned out to be very nice for its price category, often they simply offer a plastic case, and such models look cheap. Nothing similar can be said about Nokia 2.

The device is available in several colors, you can see them in the photo.

The downside of the matte cover is that it rubs off quite easily. Such covers are not sold separately, so, oddly enough, the most durable device will be white, the cover will definitely not be shiny. It is possible that the service will be able to purchase the cover separately; I can’t even imagine the cost, but it is unlikely to be low.

On the right side there is an on/off key and a paired volume key. At the bottom end there is a microUSB connector and a microphone, the second microphone is at the top end, there is also a 3.5 mm jack.

Under the cover you can see two slots for nanoSIM cards, as well as a separate slot for microSD. Depending on the market, the model may come with one SIM card slot. In Russia, this is a dual-SIM option.

The glass covering the screen is recessed into the body; the frames protrude slightly, but this does not create any flaws in the ergonomics; your finger cannot feel the edge of the screen. On the back of the device you can see the camera with flash and the main speaker. On the front panel above the screen is the front camera.

The bottom line is that the Nokia 2 is well built in its price class and the device does not cause any complaints. I like the fact that it has a cool design and body at a fairly affordable price point.

Display

Screen 5 inches, LTPS, 1280x720 pixels, 16:9, 294 ppi, automatic brightness adjustment, Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Minimum settings, maximum brightness can be turned on (in automatic mode The backlight level increases for better readability outdoors). I like the quality of the screen, it's not bad and provides readability both indoors and outdoors. By today's standards, the screen is small, although five years ago 5 inches was considered a large screen. You can watch video on such a video, but it’s not as comfortable as on large smartphones, but it all depends on your habits.

The oleophobic coating is good, which is important, since people usually save on it in this segment. And the presence of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is a plus for the phone. For those who will choose this device for older people, I note that you can enable larger font sizes, then readability will increase, and this also makes the device interesting for this audience.

Battery

Built-in Li-Ion battery capacity 4100 mAh. Unfortunately, HMD Global does not even indicate approximate operating modes and the expected time in each of them with a fully charged battery. Therefore, we can only focus on the results that we obtained in practice. So, at maximum brightness, playing unconverted HD video in MX Player will give approximately 8 hours of work. This is a good result for an IPS matrix; there are no records, but there are no failures either.

When using the device for calls for an hour, browsing the web, communicating in instant messengers and in social networks it lasts for two full days. In this case, the screen backlight was set to 60%; with automatic backlight adjustment, the operating time did not change much. The total screen operating time was about 4.5 hours, the volume of transferred data was about 600 MB.

The battery charging time using standard charging (fast charging is not supported, wireless is also not supported) is about 4.5 hours. There are no special power saving settings, only the one that is present as standard in Android and can be activated when the charge reaches 15%. In a word, this device is quite superior in this aspect.

For those who use a smartphone only for calls and occasionally browse the web, the operating time will easily be 4-5 days. These are very realistic numbers in this scenario.

Chipset, memory, memory cards, performance

One of the main complaints is the small amount of RAM of 1 GB; it is not enough for “heavy” games and modern applications, so slowdowns may be noticeable in operation, although they are not critical and you can get used to them, it all depends on your previous experience. There are no miracles, and the small amount of built-in memory of 8 GB can also be interpreted as a drawback, since it runs out quickly, especially if you use a large number additional applications. In many ways, the ease of use of the device directly depends on how you use it, on your scenarios.

Snapdragon 212 chipset, 4 Cortex-A7 cores with a frequency of up to 1.3 GHz, Adreno 304 graphics processor. There are no records in synthetic tests, everything is predictable, and the numbers are far from average for modern smartphones, which is explained by the budget nature of this device.

Communication capabilities

Budget decision, and that says it all, there is no USB Type C (it’s a few pennies more expensive), regular microUSB. There is no second band for Wi-Fi, which immediately makes you a hostage good internet and absent neighbors transmitting a lot of data on their Wi-Fi networks. LTE cat.4 supported.

Cameras

The front camera is 5 megapixels, without any special features, very budget-friendly, the image quality is appropriate.

The main camera is 8 megapixels, it works slowly and very slowly, sometimes it takes up to 5-7 seconds from the moment of start to the ability to take a photo. The quality of the images leaves much to be desired, the device cannot boast of anything here, the interface is familiar to HMD Global devices.

Sample photos

    1. Rear camera 5 MP. 2. 3.5 mm jack, allowing you to connect headphones 3. Slot for microSD memory cards, allowing you to increase your phone memory for media files and applications. The memory card can be removed/installed without turning off or disassembling the phone. 4. Opportunity Java installations applications that expand the functionality of the phone. 5. Possibility of Internet access, the phone can also be used as a modem for a PC/laptop/netbook/tablet with Windows 10 on board. Alas, the speed is limited by the characteristics of GPRS/EDGE 6. Bluetooth, you can connect a wireless headset/wired headphones. 7. Flashlight. 8. Radio, and it works even without headphones. 9. Camera, photo, shoots and video,

Everything! an excellent phone, for those who need a phone with multimedia, and not a smartphone, everything is very high quality, it works flawlessly

I bought it a long time ago, now it’s 2019 and the phone works properly and holds a charge for a week, it picks up a signal where smartphones don’t. Although the case is made of plastic, it does not break no matter how many times it is dropped.

Not bad at all for its class, everything was fine for that time, excellent camera, ability to set individual signals for calls and SMS, etc., works well on the Internet for a phone, convenient MP3 player

I've been using it for 5 years! Everything is still working, I’ve dropped it many, many times already! And now the time has come to change it, probably, in my opinion, this is the best push-button phone. Loud speaker, good battery life (3-4 days), good sound in headphones, after 5 years nothing has been changed, the body is worn out and that’s all. A normal camera, for 2011 it was very cool, but now you can take a photo of the text, everything is clearly visible. Fits well in the hand.

Flashlight - For me, a super convenient alarm clock - player, radio - Metal body - it even plays video (although you know what the quality is...)

In 2k19, all the disadvantages come from the advantages. 1. 2.2-inch screen 2. 16 GB memory card (microSD HC), not 64 GB or higher (microSD XC). 3. Java applications in the era of Android and iOS dominance. 4. The charging connector is 2 mm, not micro-USB.

The paint has peeled off a little from the plastic parts.

Weak battery, buggy with memory card.

No critical ones. Well, maybe just one alarm clock, they could have sewn in three. And even when the flashlight is turned on, the buttons are blocked; in order to turn it off, you have to first unlock them. But the most important thing is that during a conversation the camera often turns on - the button gets under your finger and for some reason is not blocked for this time.

Weak camera, clearly not 5 megapixels.

The battery does not hold a charge much, perhaps this is the main thing

No Wi-Fi, when I bought it I didn’t care, now it’s a significant drawback. - The price for such a model is very high and does not become less over the years. - Sometimes it doesn’t pick up the network (and it’s not the SIM cards) - Weak camera, but it’s a phone, not a camera

Sometimes it loses connection and doesn’t call - I had to buy another phone to stay in touch. It constantly loses bluetooth - the sound either floats or disappears, and often it simply disconnects from bluetooth and in the car while driving you have to frantically take out your phone to answer the call. The 5MP camera is small, the quality is average - a point-and-shoot camera takes better pictures. After a year, some of the buttons were washed. 3 years have passed, the phone is working, but the screen died for a long time and turned off. Finish. The fairy tale about a simple and reliable model is over.

The best, practical and concise smartphone I have ever seen. I wanted to buy the same one for myself - it’s a pity it’s no longer for sale. It has been in good service for almost 4 years. The charge was enough for only 5 days.

It has been working for more than two years and continues. A couple of times I slightly shook it. Used as a phone, player, book. Sometimes a reboot helps when it doesn’t search for GPS; after losing the network, it doesn’t always find the network itself, you need to click auto search through the settings.

We sold the phone in the operator's online store. They took it off the shelf. Yes, I ordered Nokia 3.1.

They wanted to make a compromise between Android and Windows 8, but the result was nonsense. The design is terrible, designed either for children or the blind. It seems like there are 2 mega-corporations - Microsoft and Nokia, with a staff of expensive and high-quality designers, and the result is simply annoying. The only thing that is normal is the hardware: the sound and screen are good, but for such parameters the phone is too big and heavy. The camera is so-so, it doesn’t cause any enthusiasm. But the worst thing is that no Google play and the user is forced to use Yandex and Nokia stores. And there are not even half of the usual applications there.

I have been using this smartphone since September 2014 until now June 2018. Everyday, active use does not matter to it. Photos, Internet, music, navigator - I use everything. It has never frozen, the proximity sensor works great, calls are not dropped during a conversation. For the last six months, my 10-year-old son has been actively using it with endless toys, and he doesn’t refuse him either. The battery remains almost the same. Holds charge well. The downsides are that there is no way to automatically save to a memory card, boring app stores, but we got used to downloading everything through Shareit. After many years of use, I will say that this is a very good and reliable phone.

When unlocked with a standard screensaver with a clock (black background), the screen flashes as if with all the pixels. I was scared, but I read on 4pda that this is a variant of the norm and you can install a third-party screensaver, for example, OneLocker, and this anxiety will go away. And so it happened. The phone itself pleased me with the battery charge, the convenience and intuitiveness of the settings, the camera (by the way, with a pretty decent flash) and the built-in program for editing photos and PicsArt camera settings. The sound is good, there is no noticeable rattling like the Lumia 800, but the player, despite the built-in simple equalizer, is not listenable for me. I'm used to the rich sound of my old Nokia 5320XpressMusic, which has a music chip and, as a result, a drop-dead sounding player. Third party programs I haven’t tried it for witchcraft with music yet, so maybe everything can be changed for the better) As for all sorts of Google services, playmarket and root rights that allow you to install them: I didn’t want to take risks and didn’t experiment in this vein, still not I want to reflash the phone, losing the warranty. However, I can say that the built-in markets and 1mobile are quite enough for me personally. WiFi connection is excellent, there are no surges. I fell in love with the curtain, which gives quick access to settings and notifications. It’s comfortable to talk, you can hear your interlocutor perfectly. But Speakerphone It’s not very loud, but I’m already nitpicking. In general, the phone makes a solid impression, because the body looks monolithic and this cannot but rejoice. I can say that the stated disadvantages are not disadvantages at all, but only negatives, because the phone fully justifies its cost and features. I definitely recommend it. ADDENDUM: I am writing from January 2018 (the review itself was published on November 17, 2014) - the phone still works and I still use it. After all, Nokia is our everything =)

The phone was taken 4 years ago. We looked at others in front of him, Nokia / they are also Microsoft - with Windows on board, prices are 1.5-2 times more expensive, but there were no measures to slow down. We saw this model in the DNS, although the seller was “pleased” that it had both Windows and Android OS, 2 in 1. Of course, this is an Android, but thoroughly redesigned. We were pleased with the device’s response to pressing and other tactile tests. In all this time, we have never regretted the purchase. Videos, games, work correspondence, Internet, telephone conversations. Back cover though it cracked after two years (we filmed in the cold to insert a memory card), Ali bought a new one for 150 rubles, so it’s not critical. Now my head hurts, what to take instead, the new Nokias that have appeared do not differ in the same speed of operation, it feels slower - unlike the price))) especially since there is a bad manner of making batteries non-removable in most modern smartphones, which is not good in terms of How information security, and fire department))))

Getting acquainted with the Nokia x2 Dual Sim smartphone, we knew that this model was a budget one and that its cost was about $120, but in general, it seems that the phone costs at least twice as much. Moreover, everything in the device works without glitches or unnecessary freezes, and this creates a pleasant impression, which even an Android-based operating system cannot ruin. Nokia X 2.0 is a fusion of Android and Windows, on which you cannot initially use the play market, however , then we managed to get around it. What else. The processor is quite fast, as a result, all applications work quickly, the RAM is of course not enough for modern games, but for the rest it is quite enough. The only thing that let us down is that without root rights you will not be able to update the operating system, and Nokia does not provide after-sales support.

Conclusion

The Nokia x2 Dual Sim smartphone is an ideal device for a gift to a child or as a work phone, with a bunch of applications and the ability to use the Internet. The biggest advantage of this phone is its price, however, this does not mean that the smartphone works extremely poorly - rather, it is an exception to the rule that cheap things cannot be of high quality. Additionally, the color scheme of the phones is pleasing, while the design, as always, remains at the same level. The OS was a little disappointing, but the matter turned out to be fixable; I would like to include the weak one as a minus RAM- this is more of a quibble. Overall, the system works quite quickly and conveniently.

Rated 8/10 for price and quality
