Samsung galaxy ace gt. Summary review of smartphones Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), Fit (S5670) and mini (S5570)

samsung galaxy Ace (GT-S5830) was officially presented by Samsung only today (at 2 am Kyiv time). It is designed to strengthen the position of the manufacturer in the middle price segment, where today Samsung has a slight "sagging". I had the opportunity for a week to walk around with a pre-sale sample of this, of course, an interesting device. He has all the ingredients for success, but can he become as popular as the legendary Galaxy Spica model?

Excursion into history

At one time, the Android smartphone Samsung Galaxy Spica (GT-i5700) produced the effect of an exploding bomb on our market and became the most popular device running an operating system. Android systems. The "blame" for this was an excellent combination of price and characteristics, and neither some technical problems nor an uncertain situation with software updates could affect the popularity of the phone. The Galaxy Spica was quickly discontinued - both because of the above mentioned technical problems, and due to the fact that the device turned out to be too successful and potentially cannibalized sales of more expensive phones Samsung, in particular, preparing at that time for the release of the bada-flagship Wave (GT-S8500). A logical continuation of the super-popular "Spokes" was a device called Galaxy 580 (GT-i5800), which, however, did not become popular, since its characteristics were partially degraded compared to its predecessor. In particular, users were indignant about the reduced screen resolution (240x400 versus 320x480). Competitors, meanwhile, did not doze off and presented very interesting Android smartphones in the same (and even lower) price category - within just six months, we saw Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini and Mini Pro, HTC Wildfire, Garmin-ASUS A10, Gigabyte GSmart G1305, LG Optimus (GT540) and finally Optimus One (P500) which is on this moment is the most balanced and attractive offer on the market. The answer to the encroachments of competitors was a smartphone called Galaxy Ace, which is designed to return the company's leadership in the middle price segment. The name - Ace - was certainly not chosen by chance, it is such a trump card that the company pulled out of its sleeve at a decisive moment. As with the Galaxy Spica, the combination of price and specifications, but at the same time, the company approached the creation of the phone carefully enough so as not to damage the sales of older models.

Specifications

With the Galaxy Ace, the company ditched its own S3C6410 processor and opted for the Qualcomm MSM7227 platform, which is a complete solution for budget smartphones. The Qualcomm MSM7227 integrates an ARMv6 processor core running at 800 MHz and GPU Adreno 200, which currently has the most complete support in Android games. Full Specs smartphone looks like this:

Appearance and design features

Personally, I categorically dislike the direction in which the design idea of Samsung is developing: the phones of this respected manufacturer with each new iteration are becoming more and more similar to the iPhone. And do not tell me that the sensory devices all look the same, this is not true: the same "Spoke" had its own and quite recognizable appearance, while Ace looks like Chinese fake for iPhone 3GS.

At the same time, the case materials are quite good: the front panel is covered with solid glass, and the battery cover is made of decent-looking glossy plastic. The only element of the hull that inspires concern for its safety appearance, this is a silver-colored plastic edging.

It is worth noting that recently Samsung has begun to withdraw a separate camera button from its phones: it was absent in the Galaxy S, it is not in the Galaxy Ace either. In my opinion, this is inexcusable, because it makes taking pictures with the phone as inconvenient as possible.

Screen

Galaxy Ace uses a 3.5-inch TFT-screen with a capacitive touch surface with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. The screen is bright and contrasting, viewing angles can be called satisfactory, but nothing more. In my opinion, in terms of screen quality, the Galaxy Ace is somewhat inferior to the same Optimus One. Apparently, there is an oleophobic coating, since the screen is reluctant to slam and then it is easily rubbed off.

There is no light sensor and, accordingly, automatic brightness control.

autonomy

The smartphone is equipped with a 1350 mAh battery. Autonomy is typical for most Android smartphones, that is, with heavy use and in large numbers mobile Internet traffic, he is able to work a maximum of one and a half to two days. Fully charging the battery from the mains charger takes about 2.5 hours USB phone charging a little slower.

Performance

Initially, I had information that the Galaxy Ace would be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7230 chipset (800 MHz Scorpion processor core and Adreno 205 GPU). Unfortunately, this information has not been confirmed, the smartphone uses the “budget” Qualcomm MSM7227 solution with Adreno 200 graphics, but the processor core is overclocked to 800 MHz. AT HTC smartphones Gratia and Samsung Galaxy Mini use the same processor at its native frequency of 600 MHz.

Despite the budget chipset, the phone performed well in the Quadrant and Neocore benchmarks. Even 9 months ago, such performance was available only to buyers of top-end Android smartphones, and today it is already the lot of mid-range solutions.

Firmware features

The phone runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, on top of which it is “stretched” branded shell Touch Wiz 3.0. In general, the interface differs little from other Android Samsung smartphones e.g. Galaxy S.

The Galaxy Ace has finally almost fixed the long-standing trouble of Samsung smartphones, namely, incomplete localization. In particular, the Cyrillic alphabet appeared in the quick navigation bar for contacts, which allows you to quickly search for contacts with names in Russian or Ukrainian. True, Cyrillic input is still not provided in the Phone application, so if you need a T9 search for contacts, you will have to install the Dialer One application (luckily it is free).

You can use both the standard Samsung keyboard and Swype to enter text. In the Samsung keyboard, layouts are now switched as follows: you need to press the space bar and swipe right or left. Swype also has innovations, the main of which is support for the Ukrainian language.

The Galaxy Ace, like other Samsung Android smartphones, comes preinstalled with office suite Think Free Office.

The smartphone has a very good (convenient) MP3 player and FM-receiver, which has good reception quality. Of course, there are standard Android 2.2 connectivity options. mobile phone as a modem and using it as a hotspot WiFi access for distribution of mobile Internet.

Camera

The Galaxy Ace uses the already familiar 5-megapixel camera module with autofocus and LED backlight. The quality of photos during the day on the street is very good, at night and indoors it naturally falls, but overall the camera is pleasant.

And here is the entry samsung video frankly squeezed: the maximum resolution of the videos is 320x240, the movement in them is frankly jerky, as if the frame rate does not exceed 15 fps (although QuickTime shows 25 fps in the properties of the video file). Also, note that audio recording starts about a second after video recording starts.

In the dry matter

No wonder Samsung called this smartphone"Ace", oh, not in vain. Despite the controversial design and not the highest quality screen, Galaxy Ace is one of the most interesting offers in the price category up to 3000 hryvnia. It even surpasses even our current favourite, the LG Optimus One, in terms of features, especially considering the excellent 5-megapixel camera and high performance for this price segment. In general, I wholeheartedly recommend this device for purchase (although, of course, I would like to get acquainted with the "corrupt" sample). 6 reasons to buy Samsung Galaxy Ace:

  • high (by the standards of this category of smartphones) performance;
  • very good combination of features and price;
  • quality camera;
  • a good set of pre-installed programs - you can start using the phone immediately after purchase;
  • Swype keyboard with support for Russian and Ukrainian languages.

3 reasons not to buy Samsung Galaxy Ace:

  • secondary design;
  • no camera button
  • poor implementation of video recording.

Ace S5830, positioning it first as a medium device, and then entry level. Designed to Raise Expectations for Opportunities budget phones, her offspring Ace 2 was also released.

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830: model specifications

Equal in size iPhone display 4S, in other respects, the 3.5” TFT screen cannot be compared with it. This is just one of many concessions to the level installed by smartphones Apple company. While the 5-megapixel camera initially matched the sensors of more expensive phones, its video capture capabilities are limited to 640 x 480 pixels.

In terms of basic specifications, the model is equipped with a single-core 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. In 2013, its frequency was already significantly inferior to its average value for mid-range smartphone chipsets, equal to 1 GHz, and even dual-core novelties that were just appearing at that time, but it corresponded, for example, to Motorola Motoluxe. Cheaper than Nokia Lumia 710 with 3.7” OS AMOLED display Windows phone 7.5, the Galaxy Ace entered a highly competitive market segment dominated by models such as the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray on Android platform 2.3.

Design

Many high-end smartphones, following in the footsteps of the iPhone, were also produced in an attractive white version after the standard black model was released. Samsung, keeping up with the general trend, has killed two birds with one stone and offered a couple of interchangeable back panels, reminiscent of the Nokia 3330 days. At the same time, completely out of line with other smartphones in terms of color, the black back panel is more pleasant to the touch than its smooth glossy white version. Brilliant cut provides better grip.

Elegant, stylish and pleasant to look at, the phone, despite its budget plastic construction and lightweight design, is surprisingly reliable and flexes slightly under load. The excellent build does not have ugly seams or unnerving spaces between components, but suffers from badly placed buttons.

Placement of three physical keys (transition to homepage, volume control and power on) Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace user reviews find it inconvenient. Two of them are located in places that allow them to be accidentally pressed too often. When the device is in the left hand, the thumb rests on the volume up button, and the index finger rests on the power switch. And if you hold the phone in your right hand, then the switch falls into the sphere of influence of the thumb, and the middle one constantly risks reducing the volume.

This inconvenience is more annoying than a disadvantage, because. Samsung's lack of forethought in these basic design aspects often forces users to resort to an unnatural and unbalanced grip to avoid accidental clicks.

The rather chunky phone has a bulge at the top, so the manufacturer made room for a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro-USB port hidden by a plastic shutter. Helping to smooth the design and mask unsightly holes, the slider is stiff, uncomfortable and difficult to access, requiring the use of two hands.

Resistant to accidental bumps and contact with keys and coins, the relatively durable case of the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace is not prone to scratches when everyday use. However, the plastic finish scratches after a few months of use. It is a pity that cases are not included in the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace.

Big touch screen responds quickly and works flawlessly. The target audience of the model, which is novice smartphone users, will not worry about having the latest version of Android.

With a thickness of 11.5 mm, the model is 0.2 mm thicker than the flagship HTC Sensation. At 113g, it feels solid in the hand, but given that the 4.3-inch Galaxy S2 is only 2g heavier, users might expect a lighter phone.

Display

The most important component of any smartphone is its touch screen. It allows you to control the device and view media content. The 3.5” display is acceptable, although it fails to stand out from the crowd. With a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels and a density of 165 dpi, the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace's capacitive touchscreen is very mediocre and displays images, although distinguishable, but completely unsatisfactory and unattractive.

With minimal video playback, photo viewing and app experience, the phone doesn't live up to the standards you'd expect from a mobile phone. Samsung devices. The display is a far cry from the vibrant AMOLED colors found in high-end and mid-range Samsung smartphones, or the 720p and 1080p HD displays of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Colors are muted and details are not sharp. Mostly obeying the user's commands, the device sometimes becomes unresponsive, requiring a few convincing presses to perform the desired action.

However, not everything is so gloomy. Samsung smartphone screen, joining forces with the Android OS, automatically dims when the battery reaches the lower limit of its capacity, extending the time battery life. In addition, the display is protected from scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass.

Interface

After launching the model with Android 2.2 Froyo installed, it was upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread a year later. However, later the manufacturer's support ceased, and the appearance of the Jelly Bean version, in which many improvements were made, made the model obsolete even at its release. However, for a novice smartphone user, this is not so important - for its cost, it does the job just fine.

Model combines operating system with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. This provides a proven and secure shell that satisfies user needs without being revolutionary or inspiring. The intuitive platform treats the user with a standard set of pre-installed Google Apps, which are easy to organize along with many widgets and shortcuts on a somewhat limited trio of desktops.

Largely due to the limited 258 MB of RAM and 800 MHz CPU, opening programs becomes a difficult task, as their launch is preceded by a slight pause. Interruptions are observed in other situations. Resuming the phone from sleep mode is sometimes slow, often requiring you to repeatedly press the button. This creates an annoying vicious circle of counteracting button presses.

Scrolling through menus and lists is also slightly slower - a smooth start is followed by abrupt stops. This slows down the user experience and also distinguishes the device from some peers and even weaker competitors.

At the bottom of the screen are 4 main applications for calls, contacts, messages and menus, which are separated from the rest of the programs above them, just like in iOS. There's also a great task manager widget that lets you save battery life by showing you which programs are currently running in the background.

In the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, the battery is not very durable. Standard lithium ion battery with a capacity of 1350 mAh, which, despite its low power compared to other smartphones, is able to provide the phone throughout the day.

Another useful widget is a bar at the top of the screen that allows you to quickly turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and sync on or off, as well as increase the brightness of the image.

Unfortunately for users who do not like to play, the built-in games for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 cannot be removed. They clog memory and space on the menu screen.

From point of view telephone communication model leaves a double impression. The standard set of contacts and the call menu are easy to set up and navigate. Thanks to TouchWiz 3.0, contacts are easily integrated with accounts Facebook posts, Twitter and Google, which is a definite plus for fans social networks. The contact history is convenient, as it shows not only received and made calls, but also messages. But the audibility of the subscriber is not very clear, and it may take several attempts to answer the call signal.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), which was priced to fit into the mid-range when it launched in 2011, had a relatively good 5MP sensor. But gradually he ceased to meet the requirements of the market, which offered many budget models producing high quality pictures.

According to user feedback, there is no well-functioning dedicated macro mode. The camera struggles to focus when the target is too close. Attempting to photograph a close subject confuses the autofocus system and throws it out of sync, resulting in poor quality and very disappointing shots.

The attempt to remedy this situation by magnification raises a wide range of new questions. Although the phone has a 2x digital zoom, which is far from impressive, in reality this feature can only be used when shooting with reduced image quality. The upper limit of the resolution does not allow you to activate the zoom, either optical or digital.

Button quick launch there is no camera app, and a tiny amount of internal memory (158MB) means you can't take photos unless you insert the 2GB memory card that came with your smartphone.

In good light conditions, the phone is capable of capturing impressive shots with a choice of single, continuous, panorama modes and a smile-activated shutter. The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) has less than ideal camera performance, with the built-in LED flash often overpowering the subject, making some parts of the image too pronounced, leaving others in deep darkness. It is of little help if you need to take the perfect shot.

Although the front camera is rarely used for video calling, its absence is a clear omission that is very noticeable in the mid-range smartphone market. It also deprives users of the much-needed ability to take selfies. There are various photo modes to choose from, and most of them improve image quality.

Video

According to user reviews, the phone does not meet HD standards, which are a must in today's mid-range smartphone market. Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), whose settings do not allow you to shoot video with a resolution of more than 640 x 480 pixels at 24 fps, is too outdated. The enjoyment of the footage on large screens will not be possible. Users are not advised to even try to do this.

The recipe for successful video shooting on the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) is a cloudless sky on a sunny day. The phone's often erroneously cautious color management system is the cause of overexposed images, which give frames an unwanted, artificial yellow tint. At the same time, a pleasant surprise is the smartphone's ability to record loud clear sound with good directional action and isolation of unwanted sounds when shooting video. background noise. A useful function is the countdown of the remaining amount of memory, which will allow you to navigate how much space a shoot will absorb on a frail two-gigabyte card.

Multimedia

Although the cards microSD memory are relatively cheap and easy affordable option storage, missing from the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) memory is an annoying omission. The lack of ROM means that without a Micro-SD, you won't be able to take a single picture.

The presence of a music player and FM radio allows the smartphone to be a media center. However, due to the weak built-in speaker, this potential is not destined to be realized. Weak acoustics Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) reproduces little bass and produces a metallic sound that, when watching movies, is not able to support an unremarkable screen. Only the location of the speaker saves the situation. Unlike many smartphones, whose sound sources are in the most inappropriate places, significantly degrading the audio quality, the speaker is located at the back in the central part of the phone.

Video and music files stored in individual applications(gallery and music player, respectively). This means that if you want to watch a music video after listening to the soundtrack, you will have to exit one program and enter another. The videos in the gallery are sorted by date and play only in landscape mode.

Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace phone is not suitable for running video player. It can play various media files, but the combination of low screen resolution and lack of internal memory means you have to invest in a high-capacity Micro-SD card before thinking about a movie marathon. The user will not receive anything similar to the Galaxy S3, since the smartphone does not even have an OLED display.

Battery Life

Promising 420 min. in standby mode with 3G enabled, Samsung overestimated the 1350 mAh lithium-ion battery. According to the reviews of the owners, during testing, it loses its charge much faster than the advertised seven hours. Charging the battery takes a long time, unlike, for example, the Panasonic Eluga Power, which can reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Like many smartphones, the Galaxy Ace suffers from rapid battery drain. According to the owners, he is able to withstand one day if not worked for several hours in a row.

In terms of connectivity, the standard set of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are joined by GPS capabilities, thanks to which you can use google maps and assign geolocation tags to photos. Standing out from the competition, the phone allows you to share an Internet connection via a USB cable to devices without a mobile connection, such as laptops. It's always nice to know that for a small amount in one case you can get satellite navigation, mobile hotspot and Wi-Fi connection.

Advantages and disadvantages

Is the phone good? No. Already at its release, it was very mediocre and did not change for the better. The smartphone fits comfortably in the hand and has a good design. With interchangeable black and white rear panels, offers a design that will appeal to a wide range of users. Easy to operating Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) "Android" does not spoil the outdated modification, and its price is simply amazing. You can buy a phone for 4.5 thousand rubles.

However, the phone wakes up sluggishly, and its low resolution TFT display lacks the vibrant colors that have become Samsung models. A smartphone equipped with a weak camera is filled with software that can turn it into a universal media center, but Hardware does not allow this, because the audio and visual capabilities fall short of expectations. The interface does not give confidence to the owner dealing with it for the first time Android device. He will be extremely disappointed, thinking that this is how all smartphones work.

Conclusion

Recommend samsung phone S5830 Galaxy Ace is not allowed. Even if there are those who are desperate to get some kind of inexpensive smartphone, this is still not something that can suit them. There are other, cheaper and more powerful models. Obsolete software smartphone also does not speak in his favor.

The processor could not cope with the loads back in January 2011, and modern more resource-intensive applications only exacerbate the situation. The screen and pre-installed software are relics from the time when the manufacturer was just trying to enter the smartphone market.

Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) - an echo of the era of the first android steps, so modern software doesn't work as well on it. This is not the fault of the South Korean company. The model had to leave the stage at the end of her life cycle, but for some reason its release was continued.

Pros:

Big screen, camera, beautiful, fast internet

Minuses:

Little memory, big size

General impression:

huge bright screen and the sensor is cool, so fast =), the most gorgeous camera - the pictures are so cool!!! The interlocutor is very well audible, a loud call, when an SMS comes - you can even hear it on the street! You can set a good alarm and adjust the volume and ringtone! Fast Internet, catches everywhere, there is synchronization with Google. The price is nice =). Disadvantages - the screen gets very dirty and is not completely wiped off. I don’t know why, it’s like I’m not dirty). The memory inside is sooo small, I had to delete Yandex. The phone is big - you can't put it in your jeans pocket. There is no camera in front, it is inconvenient to talk on Skype. It’s hard to figure out the settings (. The battery is eaten up very quickly, especially with Skype and toys. The keyboard is not very good, it’s very inconvenient to enter messages! Some games do not work, there is not enough memory - I already said. There is no flash player, many videos do not show Headphones need to be purchased separately and not all fit. They say that the flowers on the back panel are quickly erased, but everything is fine with me.There is no “camera” button on the phone itself.Despite all these shortcomings, I like the phone and do not regret it at all about buying!

Pros:

Thin, white color, beautiful pattern on the back cover, comfortable, large screen, fast internet.

Minuses:

Headphones are not included, you need to buy separately.

General impression:

I bought it a week ago, while everything is fine, it never hung and there were no glitches. Before buying, I read reviews on the Internet for a long time, the choice fell on the Samsung Galaxy Ace. I really liked the design - thin, white, comfortable, with a beautiful pattern, similar to an iPhone. Wi-Fi catches very well (even in the elevator), the screen is not scratched and the pattern is not erased, although I carry it without a case in my bag or pocket. The battery is good - the charge holds almost two days. Beautiful large and bright screen, downloaded live wallpapers - they look so cool! Lots of free programs and games. The speakers are also good, the sound is loud. It's a pity that the headphones need to be purchased separately. Personally, I do not require too much from the phone - calls, the Internet, Skype, sometimes games, music, watch a TV series. read a book, in general, just for me! The size is optimal for the hand - neither big nor small. It does not interfere in your pocket and is not ashamed to get it out of your bag). In general, an excellent inexpensive phone with a memorable design, does not get dirty, does not scratch, fits comfortably in the hand. Perfect for a girl with her own style!

Pros:

Design, camera, Wi-Fi.

Minuses:

A little thoughtful.

General impression:

Bought a few months ago on the advice of a friend. A very feminine phone with a nice design, comfortable - just under my arm, a very good (even excellent) camera - ideally shoots books and documents in text mode. There is just a huge amount in the Market free apps. Large, comfortable and bright screen. WiFi =). The speaker is loud, you can hear it very well - the previous phone was very quiet). I really like to write SMS using Swipe. Now about the shortcomings ... The phone was defective - it often lost contact with mobile network. Passed under warranty, it was reflashed. The third day is fine. There were no headphones in the kit, though many others fit (the headset did not fit from my old Nokia) There was no driver disk, but removable drive Connected fine and works. Sometimes freezes for a few seconds (thinks). The battery is weak ((, you often have to recharge it. When buying, it’s better to immediately paste the film (I immediately pasted it) - a huge screen, it’s sure to be scratched somewhere! Despite all the minuses, I really like the phone, I recommend it to everyone!

Pros:

Beautiful, fast, everything is there

Minuses:

Little memory, no headphones

General impression:

Pros. Android - everything that I need is available, the screen resolution is enough for me, touch control is convenient in principle, you can get used to the camera button. The speed of work is quite fast, an excellent program for synchronizing My phone explorer is fast, free, everything perfectly synchronizes the computer and smartphone! Angry Birds Star Wars, although it slows down a bit, it searches and determines everything with a bang. The battery is normal, without the Internet it lasts for three to four days. The screen is in order, the sensors do not blunt, no need to glue the film, as it is not scratched. The case is good - it lies tightly in the hand, does not slip, does not get dirty, dirt does not climb into all the cracks, it looks like an iPhone =), the sd-card is inserted from the side, and not inside. The speakers are great - the sounds are loud. True, I was a little upset that there were no headphones in the kit, I had to go to the store again. Little RAM - only 250 MB. ((. There is such a cool thing - SWYPE! Many people write that they often lose connection, I don’t know, I’m fine with it. When I download applications from the market, for some reason they go to memory, and not to a USB flash drive and how I have no idea how to install =((! The kit includes two covers, a charger and a USB flash drive with an adapter. While the phone suits me, it's inexpensive, maybe I'll change it later if I have money).
