How to use aomei partition assistant. Copying Hard Drives with AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition

Unlike the "old lady" XP, they require at least 16 GB and 20 GB of space on the system partition to install 32- and 64-bit systems, respectively. hard drive, drive C. But this is only a technical minimum. For modern programs and games, this is a negligible amount. A system partition of 80-100 GB is today the standard for ordinary users. And if on system disk also install resource-intensive games, standard 80-100 GB may not be enough. So, the system partition of a disk, unlike non-system and removable media, should never be 100% full. At least 15% of the C drive must always remain free to ensure the performance of Windows.

What if the size of disk C is so small that system notifications about the lack free space on it, Windows slowdowns and freezes - quite a common thing in a computer? How to enlarge the C drive without data loss, so that the system always has its legal 15% of the disk space available for its own needs?

If storing user files on a non-system drive is welcome to avoid losing them in case of a crash Windows work, then the constant fuss with cleaning the trash, Temp folders, Internet cache and other temporary files is far from a solid solution to the problem of having free space on the system disk. The cardinal solution to the problem can only be an increase in the system partition due to the volume of other, non-system partitions of the disk. We will talk about this in more detail below.

1. AOMEI Partition Assistant

Earlier in the article "" we considered the reverse process of increasing the system partition: the size of drive C was reduced, and a non-system drive was formed from the remaining space. For this purpose, we used the program AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition- hard disk partition manager, free analogue professional programs for systems engineers Paragon Hard Disk Manager and Acronis Disk Director. AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition will also be used in this case to increase the system partition of the disk.

Download the program from the developer's site and install. Installing AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition is standard.

2. Data backup

Hard disk partition managers are far from the programs with the functionality of which you can experiment, quench your thirst for curiosity and replenish your PC user experience. Redistribute computer disk space while maintaining performance operating system and user data is required in strict accordance with the instructions below. Availability of a backup copy of both the system and significant user files in cloud storage or at removable media welcome. For Reserve copy and system recovery, there are a huge number of programs on the software market, including the free AOMEI Backupper Standard, the brainchild of the developer AOMEI Technology, who created the AOMEI Partition Assistant program.

3. Expansion of the system partition of the disk due to part of the non-system

Well, let's get down to work on increasing the space on the C drive. In AOMEI Partition Assistant, expanding the system partition by taking space on one of the non-system partitions of the disk is the simplest procedure that does not require the program to run in preload mode, or even restart Windows itself. At the same time, everything happens without damage to the system itself and without loss of user data.

Launch AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition. In the program window we will see a representation of the existing disk partitions - 350 MB reserved by the system, system drive C, non-system partitions, additional hard drives or flash drives, if available. In the upper part of the program window, disk partitions are presented in a data table, and in the lower part you can see their visual layout.

To increase the C drive, we will use a test one with a small hard drive size - only 25 GB. Regardless of the size of the hard disk, the procedure for increasing the system partition by physical computer will be exactly the same.

So, we have a system partition C with a size of 20 GB and a non-system partition F, the size of which is 4.56 GB. First, we will not completely destroy the non-system partition of the hard disk, we will only take away half of the volume from it and give this half to the C drive.

Important! In no case should the increase in disk C be due to the 350 MB reserved by the system. It's a Windows emergency.

Open the program menu Master"and in the list of commands select" Split Wizard Extension". The same command is also available in the quick access panel to some functions in the program window on the left.

In the wizard window that appears, the option we need is preinstalled - this is an extension of the system partition. Click " Further».

If a HDD has several non-system partitions, in the partition selection window, due to which the C drive will expand, select the desired one. In our case, there is only one non-system partition, it is selected by the program by default. Click " Further».

We get into the window for setting the size of the future system disk. Either using the slider or in the table for setting numerical indicators, you must set the new size of the system drive C. As mentioned, for smooth operation of Windows, it needs at least 80 GB. In our case, we will symbolically increase the system partition by a little more than 2 GB, leaving the non-system partition about the same. Click " Further».

Detailed information about the planned operation. Click " Go».

AOMEI Partition Assistant will issue a warning that during the operation it is better to leave the computer alone and not carry out any parallel actions. Click " Yes».

Upon completion of the operation, press " OK».

Then - " End».

After that, we will return again to the window of the wizard for expanding disk partitions, click " Cancel' to get out of it.

In the main window of AOMEI Partition Assistant, we will see the converted picture of the hard disk partitions - the system partition C will be enlarged, while the non-system one will be reduced.

The same picture will be displayed in Windows Explorer.

4. Increasing the system partition of the disk by merging with the non-system one

If one of the non-system partitions of the hard disk is not needed, its space can be attached to the entire system partition. In our case, we return to the original picture of hard disk partitions, where we have drive C - system - and drive F - non-system. The latter will soon disappear, giving all its space to the needs of Windows. As in the previous case, nothing will happen to the system itself or to user files - after the partitions are merged, all data will be in place.

In the main window of AOMEI Partition Assistant on the system partition, call context menu and press " Merging Sections».

The program will return to the main window, where we will observe the future picture of disk partitions. As you can see, the non-system partition F has disappeared, and the size of drive C has become larger. We press the button " Apply».

In the window with detailed information about the planned operation, click " Go».

We confirm our decision, click " Yes».

We are waiting for the completion of the operation.

Click " OK».

As in the case of expanding the system partition, Windows boot not required. In the window system explorer we can observe the disappearance of the non-system partition, while the system partition has grown.

Everything - the problem with the constant lack of space on the C drive is solved forever.

Many users often experience problems related to some important actions that needed to be performed with a hard drive and flash drive. You have to, as they say, “shovel” the entire Internet in search of the optimal application, which would perform the required operations as quickly as possible (and safely), and was easy to use, and was free. As a result, the choice often falls on a software product called AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition, despite the fact that Home, Pro and Server versions are offered for download and installation (there is even a portable version).

You will be interested:

Why preference was given to this modification of the package, let's try to figure it out. At the same time, using some examples, we will explain why this program is needed and how to use AOMEI Partition Assistant. We can immediately add that ordinary users will really like this application, since even operating system tools designed to work with hard drives may seem quite complicated to many.

Adherents software products Acronis may object to the choice of tools from AOMEI. But they look a little more difficult for ordinary users to master, and besides, their use is far from always justified.

AOMEI Partition Assistant in Russian: brief announcement

Initially, as you might have guessed from the common name of the application, it was developed specifically as a tool for splitting, merging or deleting existing hard disk partitions, which was very often required when installing operating systems for which similar utilities that could even be used when starting from normal optical discs and flash drives, could only be found in custom builds. In the official installation distributions from Microsoft, such tools were not provided at all.

Even despite the fact that many users often use the toolkit command line, which is considered the most powerful and most efficient of all that is available in Windows (not to mention the PowerShell console), using the DISKPART applet still looks much more complicated. Without special knowledge, an ordinary user will not understand it. And if, in addition to everything, you perform some actions incorrectly, then it will be quite difficult to correct the situation. It is for this reason that it is recommended to install the AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition version, since it is free and supports the Russian-language interface, and practically does not differ from professional or server modifications in terms of functionality. Of course, you don’t need to activate it either (we will talk about actions with other versions a little later).

8.1 requires at least 16 GB of free space on the system drive. But these are requirements only for installing the operating system itself, the space for the software that will be installed on the system disk in the future is not taken into account. Given this, it is recommended to allocate at least 50 GB of space for the system partition of the disk. And even more. The fact is that when the system partition of the disk is full, and less than 1 GB of space remains on it, Windows starts to slow down and freeze terribly.

Of course, this problem can be solved by periodically cleaning folders with temporary files, storing videos, photos and music on a non-system disk partition, reinstalling resource-intensive programs on it, but all this is not a solid solution to the problem. The only way to solve the problem is to increasing the volume of the system partition of the disk. And it will be possible to do this by taking away part of the space from another partition of the disk - non-system.

How to increase the size of the C drive or system drive without losing data - we will consider this issue below.

Working with hard disk partitions - creating them, redistributing volumes, deleting them - is actually a simple process, just risky. One wrong step, one seemingly innocuous option, set at random, can destroy both the system and all the data contained on the hard drive. There is special software for working with disk partitions, many have probably heard or even come across such functional software packages for working with hard drive like Acronis Disk Director or Paragon Hard Disk Manager. But we will not expand the system partition of the disk with their help, but we will go in a simpler way.

- This is an analogue of the above software products for working with . Unlike the latter, AOMEI Partition Assistant is less known, but this does not detract from its advantages in any way - the functionality in it is implemented without unnecessary troubles that can often be seen in professional software for system engineers. Its drawback can only be noted is the imperfect translation into Russian - sometimes mechanical, sometimes incomplete. Nevertheless, this shortcoming will not prevent us from doing the work of expanding the system partition of the hard disk without losing data. Moreover, the program allows you to carry out this operation relatively quickly (depending on the volume added to the system partition), even without restarting the computer.

You need to download and install AOMEI Partition Assistant. In our case, we will use professional version Edition 5.5, we recommend it.

Run the program and you will see a picture of your hard drive, in particular, which partitions take up how much space. Clearly determine for yourself how many gigabytes you want to increase the system partition of the disk and due to which of the other partitions this increase will occur if you have more than two disk partitions on your computer. In the left part of the window of the AOMEI Partition Assistant program, the so-called wizards for working with certain tasks will be displayed, click the first one - “Split Wizard Extension” (meet one of the “masterpieces” of the program’s mechanical translation).

The wizard window will start. Here you need the "Extend system partition" option. Click "Next".

The wizard's welcome window will appear, stating that the disk partition you selected will be enlarged without data loss and even without rebooting. Click "Next".

Then you will see a disk partition selection window, due to which the system partition will be expanded if you have more than two disk partitions on your computer. Accordingly, exactly as much as you increase the system partition, the partition you selected will be reduced. Select this section and click Next.

You will be taken to the settings, where you need to specify the new size of the system partition. Drag the slider to the approximate volume you need and specify the number (if necessary) in the table below. Click "Next".

A window will appear with full information about the operation. Click "Go" if you don't want to change anything.

The status of the ongoing operation to expand the system disk will be displayed in the next window of the program. Here you can set the option to turn off the computer if you go to bed or go somewhere. And the AOMEI Partition Assistant program will turn off the computer after completing its work.

When the operation to expand the system partition of the disk is completed, AOMEI Partition Assistant will issue a notification about this. Click "OK".

When you return to the main window of AOMEI Partition Assistant, you will see the picture of the hard disk partitions again. But the system partition of the disk will already be enlarged.

That's all - now you can freely allocate space on the system partition of the disk and not be afraid that an extra installed program that requires installation only on the system disk will stand in the way of Windows performance generally.

Hello admin, the question is this, I decided to create disk D: at the expense of disk C: (the volume of disk C: with installed Windows 8.1 is 500 GB, 40 GB is used), went into Disk Management, right-clicked on the C: drive and selected "Shrink Volume"

and there was such a proposal "Available for compression space" - 50 GB, respectively, and "Size of compressible space" is also 50 GB and cannot be increased in any way.

That is, if I compress drive C: by 50 GB, then drive D: I will also have 50 GB, which of course is not enough and I need at least 300 GB for drive D: - 300 GB.

I got on the Internet, they advise me to defragment and disable the paging file, but it didn’t help me. Then I came across your articles and my eyes widened.

Is there a program like free EaseUs Partition Master Free, but only in Russian?

How to create disk D with a free program (and in Russian) AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition

Friends, there are situations when you do not partition the hard disk (as you need) in the Disk Management utility built into Windows 8.1 and nothing can solve this problem, neither by deleting the paging file, nor by disabling hibernation, nor by defragmentation.

Create disk D: the right size will help in this case special program from the class of hard disk partition managers.

I recently started testing a relatively new, free (and in Russian) program of this class called AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition. For a whole month, I tried it on various computers and laptops and came to the conclusion that I can introduce you to it.

So, two articles about the work of the program have already been:

In today's article, we will create a D: drive using this program.

  • AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard- a program for managing partitions on a hard disk without losing data, the program is free for home and commercial use!
  • Friends, AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard refers to disk partition managers and if you make a mistake somewhere, you can lose your data, so before working with the program, I recommend making a backup of all partitions on your hard drive. In my opinion, all users should be able to create backup Windows and expand it if necessary. Help articles.
  • in the built-in Recovery Media Creator program.

Let's go to the official website AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 5.6, link

http://www.disk-partition.com/download.html

and click Download Freeware

If you want, download the program in the archive from my Yandex.Disk

The program is very easy to install.

After successful installation, run the program

and in the main window of AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 5.6, right-click on the (C:) drive and select "Resize Partition".

In the "Moving and resizing the partition" window, we cling the delimiter with the left mouse and drag it to the left, thereby freeing up space for the disk (D:)

We leave 150 GB for drive C: 150 GB, and for drive D: select 315 GB and click OK.

In the main window of the program, we see that we have unallocated space on the hard disk just for volume D:. Right-click on the unallocated space and select "Create Partition"

We allocate all 314 GB for the D: drive and click OK.

AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 5.6 is running in pending operation mode and you need to click the "Apply" button to implement our changes

The "Pending operations" window, in it you can see everything that we have planned. Click "Go"

For further work The program asks for a restart. We agree and click Yes.

The computer restarts. AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition asks us if we have changed our mind and waits 10 seconds. If you change your mind, press any key. If you have not changed your mind, then do not press anything, just wait 10 seconds.

then the first phase of the program begins - the creation of unallocated space for the future disk D:.

We go to "Disk Management" and see our created disk D.

In this article, we will do Windows transfer to another media from the AOMEI Partition Assistant utility, designed for various disk manipulations. The transfer of the system is carried out both on the SSD and on a regular hard drive - HDD.

What do you think is a plus? this action? Of course, the plus is that all data will be saved, that is installed programs and other files stored on the disk. And you don’t need to bother with, so that later you can reinstall drivers, updates and programs.

In order to transfer Windows to another media without consequences, quickly and free of charge, we will use a special software— AOMEI Partition Assistant. With it, we can expand disk partitions, delete from or create new ones. In general, the program has many functions. By the way, when using this program, we will transfer systems without losing the structure of non-system partitions. All this can be done for free. There are similar utilities that charge a fee for using certain features, such as Paragon or Acronis.

Sorry for such a long introduction, but it will be helpful for novice users. And now we can proceed to the most interesting part - transferring Windows with saving all the data.

Download and Install AOMEI Partition Assistant

To download the AOMEI Partition Assistant utility, you need to go to the official website. There you choose free version standard.

After installing the program, launch it. A window will open in front of us, divided into two parts. On the left, we see the options performed on the drives, and on the right, the drives themselves that are connected to the computer. There may be flash drives.

To determine the name of the disk and other properties, double-click on desired disk, and select the item on the left "Properties".

Above the disk, which will become the carrier of the operating system, you need to work a little.

Preparing a Drive for Windows Migration

The system partition with Windows OS, as well as the "System Reserved" partition will be transferred without problems, although you need to make sure that there is enough space on the disk. On the media where the OS will be transferred, select the required partition, right-click on it and click on the item "Remove Partition", thus, it is not necessary to touch sections with the data.

A window will open in which we select the item "Quickly delete partition" and click OK.

If there is not enough unpartitioned space, you can select another partition and also perform the “Delete Partition” operation on it.

Suppose it so happened that the provided disk space is again not enough for the needs of the system, and there is no partition that we could delete, then you can take some space from the available partition. This is done as follows: select a section, right-click and click on the option "Resize Partition".

Now a window will open in which you must drag the left slider to the right, so you will free up the required amount for the needs of the portable OS. The slider should be at the right edge as close to it as possible.

If there is some data on the partition, the program will not destroy them, it will simply free up space that is available on the disk.

The freed space will be designated as "Unallocated space before", and the next item "Partition size", this is the volume of the partition that will be above the disk after saving the changes.

Also click the button "Advanced" and check the box "Allow partition alignment...".

After all the actions performed, press the button "OK".

In the program window, you can see the unallocated space that will go to the needs of the system. For all changes to fully take effect, you need to click the button in the upper left "Apply".

We confirm our actions and wait for the operation to complete, and then click the "OK" button.

Transferring Windows to a New Drive

Finally, we come to an interesting moment - transferring the operating system to a partition of a new disk.

In the AOMEI Partition Assistant window, you must click on the tab "Master" and from the list that opens, select the item "Migrate OS SSD or HDD".

In the next window, click on the section where it says "Unoccupied" and press again "Further".

The volume of the entire system partition may be less than the partition to which we will transfer, then you need to drag the slider on the right side to the right to the maximum. This is necessary so that another unallocated space is not created, which would have to be merged again by the system or other partition.

After doing this, press "Further".

Coming to the end, you need to press the button "End".

In order for all the actions that we performed to be applied, you need to click the button at the top left of the window "Apply".

A window will appear showing the operation we have planned. Just press the button "Jump". By the way, there will also be indicated the time that will be spent on the operation. A very useful feature that many programs of this type do not have.

As soon as you click "Go", a warning window will appear that says that we will not be able to use the PC during the operation. Well, let's press "Yes".

The computer or laptop will go into preboot mode and begin transferring the system to the new partition. All this you can see on the screen.

After the operation is completed successfully, the PC will restart and Windows will boot from the original disk. Yes, the OS that we transferred is located on two disks at the same time, nothing will be deleted on the original one.

If you want to check if the transferred Windows boots, you need to put the new hard drive in first place.

So we have completed such a long, but useful operation as transferring Windows. I would leave the system of the original disk, because on any of them the OS can fail, and with a working one we can fix any problems. The only negative is that the second OS will not be activated, so you will have to remove the system from one disk and activate it on another.
