Yes, yes, the same socialism, which is often called the prison of peoples, a dead end branch of historical development, and further down the list. It was under socialism that programs were created, or rather, prototypes of programs that are known today to every user.
I already told you about, but about ESET NOD32- Not yet. So, friends, ESET NOD32 has a no less glorious past. Its history began back in 1987.
And so, imagine: 1987, the city of Bratislava, Czechoslovakia ...
How it all began
If you have never worked on computers from the 80s, then do not be discouraged - you have not lost much. Today, this can only cause a smile, but the first computers did not even exist. And there were already viruses. Some unfair imbalance, don't you think?
One of these viruses, later called "Vienna", was discovered on their computer by young programmers from Czechoslovakia (Czechoslovak Soviet Socialist Republic) - Miroslav Trnka And Peter Pasko. Others would have panicked, and these guys themselves went on the attack: they quickly created, which removed the infection. Alas, viruses are not appendicitis, a one-time removal of the problem is not solved: soon programmers again had to develop fresh anti-virus solutions for new threats.
After some time, it became clear that the creation of anti-virus protection should be brought to more high level, fortunately, the matter was argued, and there was enough knowledge. Future millionaires had the idea to write a program that would massively delete malicious code, rather than inflicting helpless pinpoint strikes.
As you probably already guessed, this program became the progenitor of the successful NOD32 genus. By the way, do you know why NOD and exactly 32? Do not look for some secret commercial meaning in this abbreviation, especially since it is not there. The world-famous NOD32 program is named after the popular TV series Nemocnica na Okraji Mesta (Hospital on the outskirts of the city) in Slovakia at that time. Turning on creativity, our keyboard geniuses call the program "Nemocnica na Okraji Disku" ("Hospital on the Outskirts of the Disk").
The number "32" means the usual bit depth. And although the number of bits in today's systems has long exceeded 32, this figure froze in place, becoming part of the brand.
E SET stands for "Essential Security against Evolving Threats". What in translation means "Effective protection against evolving threats."
NOD is moving forward
In May 1988, one of the major events in the history of the company happened - the first version of NOD for MS-DOS was released. At first, the program was not very popular. Gradually, improvements and improvements were made to the original version, and they started talking about NOD. And then the first ones started. There was a need for an official status, an office and more of a trademark.
In 1992, Miroslav, Peter and a man with an alarming name Rudolf Rude registered ESET company. The first office of the future giant of the anti-virus market was located in modest Bratislava (Slovakia). It will then be representative offices in 180 countries and millions in profits, while the partners are barely making ends meet.
In the flesh until 1998, their anti-virus business was more likely to survive than to flourish and expand. Everything changed in the same 1998 after the release of NOD32 1.5 for Windows 98. Success came to new program more and more attention. Yes, there was also NOD32 1.0 for Windows 95, but this did not bring much triumph to the product.
But the version of NOD32 2.0 for Windows XP was already noticed far beyond the borders of Slovakia. With its release, hundreds of thousands of users saw that NOD32 is quite nice: it is undemanding to computer resources, does not hang the system and perfectly catches viruses.
By the way, about viruses. Since the program is still anti-virus, there must be some difference that made the ESET product stand out from the competition. And there was this difference. His name is ThreatSense. This is a special technology responsible for advanced heuristic scanning. It was ESET who was the first in the world to develop and apply the advanced heuristic technique.
Even without seeing your eyes, I understand that the term "heuristic scanning" needs to be deciphered. In short, heuristic scanning is the capture of both known viruses listed in special databases and still unknown infections. In other words, even if the virus databases of your antivirus have not yet been updated and do not contain information about some new virus, then NOD32 will most likely catch and destroy it anyway.
Glory and recognition of ESET NOD32
G somewhere in the middle of the "zero" ESET antivirus NOD32 has already reached the international level, and it was not a shame to send it to specialized competitions. The result paid off - today it is ESET NOD32 that is the most titled anti-virus software in the world according to the prestigious Virus Bulletin award. Already in 2008, NOD32 had 50 awards, and by the end of 2010 - more than 80. No other antivirus in the world has achieved such a result. Naturally, there were other, no less authoritative certificates, prizes and diplomas.
In parallel, the company expanded its product line, adding more and more new offers to its customers. This is how ESET NOD32 Smart Security and ESET NOD32 TITAN appeared. The market willingly accepted novelties, things went uphill. In 2005, an ESET representative office in Russia was opened.
Since today, ESET products have successfully competed for leadership positions in the global software market. All the company's products have proven to be reliable and cost-effective solutions that will not interfere with the lives of users once again.
