Reviews about HTC T7272 Touch Pro. HTC T7272 Touch Pro - Diamond with QWERTY Keyboard Manufacturer's specifications

HTC Touch Pro is a variation on the HTC Diamond theme, and the main difference is a full QWERTY keyboard. Otherwise, the characteristics and design of the devices are very similar. The HTC Pro has a slightly larger amount of RAM and ROM, a slightly larger battery, slightly different case materials, and as a bonus, there is a TV-out. The cost of the device is noticeably higher than that of a monoblock Diamond, so before buying this device It is worth weighing the pros and cons carefully.

The laboratory received a sample for testing, which includes only the communicator itself and Charger connected to the device with a sync cable. Commercial samples also include a wired headset, TV cable, quick start guide, complete guide user, warranty card and a list of service centers, a variety of brochures and CDs with additional software, spare stylus and protective film to the screen.

Appearance and usability

A cursory examination of the difference with the Diamond does not immediately notice, but it is - HTC Pro is noticeably thicker, heavier. In addition, the surface of the battery cover is not glossy, but matte, more precisely, soft touch plastic is used. The front panel is exactly the same as the Diamond, and it is just as quickly covered with various prints. It is difficult to find fault with the build quality, except for the standard problem of all sliders - a small backlash in the connecting mechanism. The mechanism itself is equipped with auto-finishing in both directions, which works quite softly and the communicator does not try to jump out of your hands when opening or closing. Despite the fact that the upper part does not have the usual two, but three guides at once, with pressure on the corners, the panel noticeably warps, but still opens.

As already mentioned, when viewed from the front, it is almost impossible to distinguish the hero of the material from the HTC Diamond. On the front panel there is a screen, above which a telephone speaker fits, with a light sensor integrated into the decorative mesh, and a window of the front VGA camera. Under the screen there is a block of keys - the transition to the main window, the back arrow - closing the application, as well as the start and end keys of the conversation.

A large round key is installed in the center, and the functions of the arrow keys are performed by the same single key block. In addition, when you move your finger along touch panel around the enter key, you can control the zoom in shooting mode, zoom images, web pages and text in messages, and Word applications and Excel, rewind while listening to audio and video files. The central input key can simultaneously work in both mechanical and touch modes, for example, when working in the "photo" mode, touching the key triggers autofocus, and pressing the key activates the shooting process. The backlight around the central button is an indicator of events, for example, reports a missed call or message. Such a manipulator is very funny, and most importantly - incredibly easy to use.

The back side, in addition to the body materials, differs from the Diamond in the presence of an LED flash installed under the window of the 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera.

On the left side there is a key-swing to control the volume level.

The right side remained untouched.

At the bottom there is a reset micro button hole, a built-in microphone hole and a universal HTC extUSB connector, which is used to connect a headset, cable, synchronization and charger.

Only the power button is installed on top.

Only by removing the battery cover, you can access the card slot microSD memory, which is located on the right side of the device. The phone card is inserted into a slot devoid of any mechanical locks, but it can be removed or installed only after the battery has been removed.

The size of QWERTY keys is small, only 7.5x5.9 mm, but HTC Pro has a significant advantage over other QWERTY communicators - this is the fifth row of numeric keys - there is no need to switch to another keyboard layout to dial a number or just numbers. And in general, the keyboard is very similar to a laptop keyboard.

Only the "superfluous" letters of the Russian alphabet - zh, x, y, e, which were "sent to settlements" were unlucky. Not easy to find and a solid sign. The backlight of the keyboard is a white glow, uniform and pleasing to the eye. Above the keyboard, on the left side, there are indicators for pressing the Caps and Fn keys.

: Of course, HTC does not want to be limited to the presence on the market of the multifunctional Touch Diamond, especially in light of the fact that it is not without flaws. These shortcomings have been corrected in the hero of our today's review, and at the same time quite interesting points have been added.

Introduction

Back in 2008, the February announcement of the flagship communicator literally excited the minds of brand fans with the introduction of a truly iconic device that has a number of advantages over other solutions in the Windows Mobile niche - communicators. But after the first admiration, the quite expected news followed, based on the fact that the communicator is a hardware development of HTC, and, moreover, the debut communicator will be produced by this company. Sony Ericsson. This moment immediately attracted the attention of those who actively followed HTC's steps to strengthen its position in the communicator market and its desire to maintain the title of leader.

It was quite logical to assume that HTC was not going to cede leadership to its customer at all, no matter how large sums would bind the companies to each other. And it was all the more logical to hear statements in March that Side Slide - the communicator will not only be produced by HTC within the framework of ODM, but will also be implemented within the Touch line. To some it seemed strange and unpleasant, while others, on the contrary, were glad for having a choice.

Further points regarding the announcement with a cursory demonstration of the sliding analog, the official announcement shortly before the start of P3700 sales, and the current situation with entering the market earlier than the Xperia X1, of course, are worth a cursory mention, but it’s much more interesting for us to go straight to the hero of our review, namely the HTC Touch Pro.

Appearance

If you put Touch Diamond and Touch Pro next to each other on the windows, most inexperienced users will easily see two identical models in the devices. Indeed, Touch Pro clearly continues the tradition of the fashion first-born in terms of dimensions, without standing out in front of most smartphones. Judge for yourself, the dimensions of the communicator are 102.2 x 51.2 x 19.3 mm.

On the one hand, the thickness of the case is slightly higher than modern frames, thanks to which Touch Pro can be called a sort of fat man, even in the niche of communicators. But it is worth remembering that a year ago, similar functionality was offered to users only in a massive one, and all claims will instantly fade into the background.

In the hand, the communicator lies much better than the Touch Diamond, from the first minute delighting the user with a dense assembly without critical backlashes and plastic squeaks, and the execution of most of the case from matte plastic adds more practicality to the overall appearance.

An additional charm to the tight fit of all the panels is added by an impressive weight of 168 grams, which can cross out the pockets of trousers and shirts from the list of comfortable places to wear. There is no significant discomfort in jeans, but wearing a communicator in a jacket will be more uncomfortable, the thinner its material is. Throwing aside all the craving for minimalism and airiness, we are left with an excellent combination of noticeable dimensions and a weighty dense mass, which is quite consistent with its value.

The front panel description could have been copied entirely from HTC review Touch Diamond, fortunately, the differences concern only large rounding of the corners of the case. In the upper part of the front panel there is a long slot of the earpiece covered with a metal mesh. In the left corner of the slot, you can see the diffusing glass of the light sensor, which adequately adjusts the backlight only after you turn it on manually. Closer to the right corner is a rather large module of an additional VGA camera for video calls, since Touch Pro supports 3G networks.

Immediately below the speaker hole, the active area of the already known 2.8-inch TFT screen begins. Thanks to excellent color reproduction and VGA resolution, the screen can rightfully be called one of the main attractions of the Touch Pro, and the system palette limit of 65536 colors does not prevent the user from viewing images and videos with the most correct color reproduction, comparable not only to Samsung phones and Sony Ericsson, but slightly exceeding even the screen in terms of color palette. The theoretical viewing angles of the matrix are about 175 degrees in both planes, but only a single glossy coating of the front panel reflects all the sun's rays with a bang.

If you look at the screen under the sun with a zero viewing angle, there will be no significant complaints about the fading of the picture, but the sharpness of the image will drop by about half, which is to blame for the film touch glass located on the same level of the front panel.

A centimeter below the screen is the navigation block of the keyboard, which consists of a single glossy plate with a concave confirmation key inscribed in the center. Around it, you can see subtle signs of inconspicuous four-position deflection buttons, as well as a circular touch pad that provides digital zoom in camera mode. Along the edges of the site, there are also buttons for returning to the desktop, as well as moving back, while the classic buttons for accepting / rejecting a call are located below.

Having examined the elements of the front panel, it's time to move on to the description of the ends, since here a curious feature opens up to the eye, associated with a flat slot, indicating the possibility of opening the case.

On the upper end, it is worth highlighting an almost non-protruding large power key, but the lower end hides not only a small reset button, but also an ExtUSB connector for connecting wired peripherals. Above it, you can see a small microphone hole, located already on the upper half of the case.

If the right end is interesting only for the protruding cap of the stylus, which is fixed in the groove only due to the magnet present in it, then the left end of the case is a little more interesting in terms of convenient massive volume keys, whose soft stroke will appeal to most users.

Now you can go directly to the description of the side slider mechanism, which caused the lion's share of users' interest in choosing Touch Pro, not Diamond. First, let's look at the sliding mechanism in terms of backlash. In the closed state, there is a small backlash of the half only in the part of the shift to the right side and no more. If you set yourself the goal of working with a communicator in one hand, this backlash is not noticed at all, and it is not possible to call it annoying. And now, in fact, it's time to go directly to opening the case and examining the QWERTY keyboard itself.

Opening the Touch Pro case turned out to be much more convenient than the assumptions built in my head based on dry viewing of pictures. Holding the communicator in your left hand, you just need to move the half with your thumb, and right-handers can just as comfortably use the middle finger for this purpose. The movement of the halves is one of the most pleasant among all devices on the market with a Side Slide-slider design. Thanks for this you need to HTC engineers, who, along with the classic thin rails along the edges, also used a wide guide in the form of a plate, and to top it off, a ball bearing. On the other hand, this whole construction was inevitable if you look at the device in its open form, where the halves are almost completely driving apart from each other. And this is while maintaining a small millimeter backlash, inevitable for any design. By the way, the considerable weight of the communicator is due to just this mechanics, since all moving mechanisms are made strictly of metal.

Opening the case, we see one of the most comfortable QWERTY-keyboards among all the latest communicators and smartphones on the market. The dimensions of each of the 44 keys are 7.3 x 6.2 mm, and buttons such as Space, Enter, Shift are also doubled in length. In addition to the keyboard itself, which we will return to in the corresponding part of the review, from the top edge, above the 5th row of keys, you can see two small LED indicator, highlighted when Caps Lock is active, or the FN function switch.

The entire back surface of the Touch Pro communicator is made in a similar faceted shape as the glossy Touch Diamond cover. But it is worth putting the device on a flat surface, as all the external similarity goes to the side. Not only is practical matte plastic with a Soft Touch rubber film used instead of gloss, but the geometry of the edges has also been seriously improved. Do you remember the main complaint about the appearance of the branded Diamond? It simply could not lie stably on the surface, constantly striving to deviate to the side due to the ill-conceived location of 3 peaks close to a single vertical axis. It turned out some kind of tumbler, but by no means a working tool. So, in Touch Pro, these edges protrude above the surface by an order of magnitude, their tops are spaced apart, and considerable weight allows you to press the screen without balancing the communicator swaying on the table. However, if you press the screen with some effort, or use the navigation keys, the stability of the device will be violated, but not as much as with the Touch Diamond.

In the upper part of the panel, you can easily notice the familiar face with a hole for a 3.2-megapixel camera module with autofocus optics, but the LED flash hole that fits just below is more interesting. On the left edge of the insert, you can see another interesting point, namely a small hole for a polyphonic speaker.

Before mentioning that the entire surface plays the role of a removable cover, let's better look at the bottom edge, which you need to rest your finger on when you shift the surface up. There is a small slot under the strap loop on the wrist, and the strap itself is fixed on a large clove, located already under the cover.

Having moved the lid up a few millimeters and heard a characteristic click, all that remains is to lift it up and examine the layout of the space similar to Touch Diamond. In the upper part, not far from the metal grille of the polyphonic speaker, you can see the designation of the slot for microSDHC - a memory card located at the end. Opposite, you can also see a slot for installing a SIM card, the emphasis for which is the installed battery.

The HTC Touch Pro uses a significantly thicker battery, comparable to a Diamond battery in width and height. Its capacity is 1370 mAh, which is enough for 2 days of use with half an hour of calls per day, 2 hours of listening to music and an hour of WEB surfing with the constant use of the QWERTY keyboard. If you set yourself the goal of watching movies on the communicator's VGA-screen, the final calls for the use of charging will begin after 4 hours of viewing, but in the reading mode, with a minimum backlight level, the communicator lasts about 12 hours.

Hardware specifications

In terms of hardware and software, the Touch Pro is very similar to the Touch Diamond we recently reviewed, which means that it is simply meaningless to describe the brief features of the MSM7201 chipset again.

But as for the memory section, here Touch Pro can not only surprise many users, but even completely stun those who changed their communicator 2-3 years ago. Let's start better with ROM-memory, since it is already difficult to surprise 309 MB of memory with free 250 MB for user data. And here is the volume random access memory deserves at least positive feedback, although when turned on, we see almost 80 MB occupied, but it is as much as 200 MB, of which 120 MB are available for use by running applications. It remains to add to this list also the absence of memory leaks, and a small amount of user ROM memory can be easily dealt with by purchasing 8 GB microSDHC memory cards.

Software features

The Touch Pro Communicator (T7272) runs an operating system Microsoft systems Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, which makes the device as close as possible to the Touch Diamond. However, a set of pre-installed applications, and the Touch FLO 3D software add-on itself, about which we have already written enough so as not to repeat ourselves, should also be attributed to the number of similar points.

Since the software similarities make the two devices as close as possible to each other, we can only list those programs that are in the hero of our today's review, but were not presented in the P3700, since all the utilities and applications described in that review are also installed in Touch Pro.

JetsetPrint

The positioning of the device in the business class could not but affect the partial expansion of office functionality, such as the presence of a dedicated utility for organizing printing using a network printer. The program is designed to use public printers with communication protocols within the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (UPnP) modules, while connecting via Active Sync is unlikely to succeed in connecting to a shared network printer. As for the possibilities of the program itself, here we have an amusing scope for creativity, since not only working with office documents and images is available, but also sending to PDF printing- directories. In addition, the ability to print settings within a common driver database allows you to set the paper size, number of copies, and hold the print job using a unified job manager.

World Card Mobile

This application is used by far not only HTC as a pre-installed business card recognition tool, although it is worth recognizing that the program has few, if any, competitors.

Horizontal mode Touch FLO 3D

If everything is already known with the vertical mode of the add-on over the Today standby mode, then the horizontal shell mode, available only after opening the Touch Pro case, causes some inconvenience for users, and this is due to the lack of pleasantly animated windows and tabs. Instead, there are eight large navigation shortcuts to Messages, Calendar and Tasks, Contacts, and Google Search. This set looks sparse, although it contains the main communication functions that require the use of a QWERTY keyboard block.

Entering text

The key feature of the HTC Touch Pro is the keyboard, or rather a full-fledged block of 47 QWERTY keys arranged in five horizontal rows instead of the usual four. An increase in the number of keys made it possible to significantly relieve the number of letters on each of the buttons, and the implementation of switching has improved significantly. But the description should still begin with the method of applying letters and the tactility of the keys. Each of the buttons is made in the form of a rectangle slightly protruding above the surface with a thin indented edge, providing a spacing of about one millimeter between adjacent keys. As for the tactility of the keys, here the user is faced with slightly protruding smooth tubercles of each of the buttons, which are best pressed with the edge of the thumb pad. If you press the buttons with the center of the fingertip, you can get an unpleasant result from a lot of false clicks, and only after a week of getting used to their number will be minimized. As for the letters on the keys, it’s worth paying tribute to just the number of buttons, because thanks to this moment, the engineers managed to place all 33 letters of the Russian layout one letter per key, while in most other devices 4-6 letters are usually left in conjunction with others . The payback for the location of the entire alphabet on separate keys was the layout switching system, which is necessary for the banal character input, including the dot. When you enter long texts such confusion with symbols is already tiring by the time this paragraph is written, after which there is a strong desire to continue writing text already from the PC keyboard.

On the other hand, getting used to entering characters through the transition to the Latin alphabet takes no more than a month, after which it is already safe to say that in the segment of modern Side Slide - communicators on Windows base Mobile hero of our today's review is the leader. It's funny, but text input from the Touch Pro keyboard can be entered at a speed of up to 100 characters per minute, which is quite comparable with TyTN II, and even on Nokia smartphone The E90 will have to work hard to type faster.

Communications

Already saturated with a variety of innovations, Touch Diamond does not cease to please us even in traditionally mediocre parameters. communication capabilities. The only thing missing is an infrared port, the main use of which was often limited to control household appliances, but certainly not by communication with other devices for data transfer.

Much more interesting in this regard is the installed Bluetooth 2.0 communication module, which supports almost all existing profiles, including EDR, A2DP and FTP. With the help of the latter profile, comfortable work with memory arrays on compatible devices is ensured, and as for headsets, everything depends on the Microsoft drivers. The data transfer rate for EDR-enabled devices is about 80 Kbps, which is twice as fast as its predecessors.

It is already somehow difficult to imagine a communicator of the upper price range without Wi-Fi, and therefore the presence of this IEEE 802.11 B/g communication module is rather a norm than a significant advantage. Work with WLAN access points is organized as a means operating system With Microsoft drivers, and through proprietary utility included with Communication Manager. As for the duration of the communicator in Wi-Fi active mode, here you have to put up with 3 hours of WEB-surfing or 2.5 hours of Skype calls.

In the reviews of most communicators, we try not to spoil the impression of the product with a detailed description of wired communication with a PC. This is due to the data transfer rate, often not exceeding 0.5 Mb / s. But since the HTC Touch Diamond has only a built-in memory array, you can't ignore the wired connection.

When the communicator is connected to a PC, classic work with Active Sync 4.5 is possible, or the second variant of work in the form removable storage. In the first case, the user is forced to be content with speeds of 700 Kb / s, but the second option looks much more interesting. Selecting a connection in mode removable disk, the communicator deprives you of the ability to work with a 4 GB array outside of a PC, but leaves the telephone and communication part turned on, so you don't have to worry about missed calls.

But you won’t have to wait long for the files to be written, since the write speed is about 4-5 Mb / s.

Camera

The communicator has a 3.2 megapixel camera module with autofocus optics, completely similar to that used in . It's hard to say how modern such a camera looks in HTC's fashion flagship, although a high-quality camera and Windows Mobile used to be incompatible concepts.

There are exactly 0 dedicated keys to launch the camera, and this is in view of the fact that Touch FLO 3D does not provide an easily accessible large label cameras. The way out is to maintain the label in the last five running applications, or launching it through one of the three photo viewing galleries.

The camera app doesn't look much different from its predecessors, apart from adapting the VGA resolution to the small physical screen sizes. Due to this, all the icons are extremely large, but do not interfere with seeing the picture of the full-screen viewfinder, which updates the image at a speed of 15 frames per second.

By touching any part of the screen with your finger, we see a large translucent line of icons, as well as a digital zoom scale. To control digital zoom, you can press your finger directly on the corresponding icons on the screen, or use touch scrolling navigation key. Now as for the icons on the drop-down line. The left shortcut allows you to quickly switch to the HTC photo viewer, while the central shortcut is used to switch shooting modes. As for the right icon, the output of the classic settings panel is assigned to it.

The main settings menu contains icons for adjusting brightness, turning on the shooting timer, changing the white balance, switching shooting modes, and choosing the image resolution. The format of the resulting image will have to be judged by the vague designations 3M, M, L, meaning 2048 x 1536, 1280 x 960, and 640 x 480, respectively.

Regarding the last label advanced settings, which include setting a large number of secondary parameters, the screenshots below will best tell about them.

Now a few words about the final quality of the images, or rather, about their basic quality. As you'd expect from a low-cost camera module with simple plastic optics, the Touch Diamond's shots are unlikely to print on paper, and on a PC screen they can only be comfortably viewed without looking at the details. Compare the camera with mobile phones in the spirit

Communicator HTC Touch Pro with a qwerty keyboard develops the concept of the Touch Diamond model. Thus, HTC, using Diamond's popularity, not only strengthens its position in the class of top communicators, but also outperforms its competitors. After all Nokia N97 and Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will only be available for sale next year.

Design and ergonomics
HTC Touch Pro looks like a fashion device, although it is positioned as a business communicator. One has only to say that this model has the same design as the popular Touch Diamond.
except for a few details: a much greater thickness (18 mm
vs. 11 mm), matte finish on the back cover and slightly rounded
edges of the front panel. We assume that the design of this model will have to be
taste of many business people, with the exception of aesthetes who like
only thin terminals.
Compared to traditional communicators,
Touch Pro is not very user-friendly. Large thickness and palpable
weight noticeably worsen its ergonomics, like a phone. In addition, the back
a panel of asymmetric planes (apparently imitating a precious stone, like Diamond)
can also cause some inconvenience when working with the communicator.
Although such a design refinement is very original and gives the device
a certain charm.
Slider auto-finishing mechanism works smoothly,
however, pulling out the keyboard with one hand is still not as easy as
conventional sliders. By the way, the developers implemented one
interesting design solution (perhaps developing the idea of the mechanism
autofinishing). Thanks to a special magnet, the stylus is drawn into the body, you just have to insert its tip into the appropriate slot.

How
and relies on a Hi-End class model, Touch Pro is assembled from high-quality
materials. All parts of the body are neatly and tightly fitted to each other.
friend. However, the problem of most glossy devices is not
passed - the front panel quickly gets dirty and fingerprints on
body are clearly visible.
Like other new HTC communicators,
Touch Pro has a very high quality screen with a large margin of brightness and
good viewing angles. A role was played by the fact that, under standard
diagonal 2.8 inches it has a high resolution(640×480 pixels).
The only weak point of the display is to read texts in bright light
it is problematic. But this is not a serious shortcoming, this property
most phones.
When getting to know the device, it seems
that "hot swapping" of the memory card is not provided, but this is not the case.
Just a slot microSD hidden under back cover but change memory cards
You can do this without removing the battery, which means without turning off the communicator. To
In a word, the autonomy of the T7272 is at a good level - two days of work without
recharging (but with included GPS and may not last a whole day).
Features and equipment
Touch Pro and Touch Diamond
turned out to be similar not only in design, but also in the “iron filling”. These
communicators are based on the Qualcomm MSM7201A processor (528 MHz)
under Windows control Mobile 6.1 Professional. Interface set
they are also identical: support GSM- 2nd and 3rd generation networks, GPRS, EDGE, HDSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth.
Available also additional camera on the front panel for
video calls with a resolution of 640x480 pixels, FM-receiver with RDS,
GPS-module and 3.2 MP camera with autofocus and flash.
There are also
significant difference - a significantly increased volume of constant and
RAM for Touch Pro - 512 MB and 288 MB. Recall that at
Diamond these parameters are 256 and 192 MB, respectively. In this way,
Touch Pro is one of the most powerful mobile devices, leaving
behind almost all PDAs and communicators (with the possible exception of the future flagship HTC Touch HD). However, the T7272 was stripped of its 4 GB of built-in memory (which Diamond had) and compensated for this with a microSD card slot.
Chips
Almost complete qwerty keyboard, convenient for working with mail and ICQ,
- the main argument in favor of buying this model. After all, others
significant advantages (except for more power) over a more compact
and the affordable Touch Diamond ($580), the Touch Pro does not.
Layout
the keyboard is well thought out: the absence of a number of function keys,
which laptops have is completely uncritical. You can complain about
that there is no separate Delete key (it is combined with Backspace). Small
the size of the keys and the same color of the layouts (English and Russian) we do not
will be classified as significant disadvantages. Indeed, to such nuances of ergonomics
over time you get used to it. Still, the dialing speed text messages on the
Touch Pro is one of the highest among phones, ahead of, for example,
qwerty smartphone Nokia E71.
But the fact that the keyboard backlight turned out to be uneven we
regarded as a disadvantage. Buying a phone for $1000 is unpleasant to see
careless attention to detail.

Among the advantages of the communicator is the use proprietary interface TouchFLO 3D(like Touch Cruise and Touch Diamond). We have already noted that in terms of convenience it is second only to the iPhone, leaving behind Asus competitors and Samsung.
In our experience, TouchFLO 3D on the Pro is faster than the
Diamond. In addition, the manufacturer specifically for this model made
special menu with 8 icons, which is activated when extended
keyboards.
The practical value of such a "chip" as TV out
is the ability to show business presentations without a laptop.
Fortunately, PowerPoint files open without problems on any
Windows Communicator.
Summary

Competitors of HTC Touch Pro - Nokia N97 and Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 qwerty-keyboard communicators
- will not be available for sale soon. So, now the flagship of the series
Touch is unparalleled except for noticeably cheaper models
(for example, Toshiba Portege G900).
However, this model is not very original in itself, but, in fact,
is a development of the ideas of Touch Diamond. Predictably Pro more
functional than Diamond, but inferior to it in ergonomics and design.
On the
touch pro's little flaws you can close your eyes given it
great merit. The communicator is highly commendable, and quite
justifies its status as the flagship of the series, and in combination and everything
model range of HTC (before the release of the Touch HD market). The only open question remains - is it worth spending $1000 to buy Touch Pro? It will be possible to answer unequivocally only, knowing the cost of competitors.

★★★ ☆☆ Rating: 3 out of 5

Advantages: 1. Pretty comfortable qwerty keyboard.
2. Regular ability to use the PDA as a drive for the computer.
3. Design.
4. Nice screen
5. Convenient stylus attachment. At least there is reason to believe that it will not loosen up and the stylus will not be lost.
6. Dimensions. Putting a laptop to your ear is uncomfortable, but this device still looks more like a mobile device.

Cons: 0. Price.
1. The existing control buttons are inconvenient. In the case, calls are dropped by themselves, the device turns on and adjusts the volume. To press the left / right buttons, you need to get used to it, because you can press the neighboring ones. I'm not used to it yet.
2. Even when the device is locked, the volume buttons work.
3. After several years with the Qtek 9100, soft buttons and additional buttons for launching applications are severely lacking.
4. Frankly weak GPS. Almost on a straight line on a 4-lane highway with excellent visibility of the sky, losing satellites is something you need to be able to do.
5. Regular cover - frank mockery. If you are not satisfied with carrying your phone in your pocket / purse - get ready to fork out for another case.
6. With the default firmware, the device is frankly gluttonous to the battery. True, the network claims that this is treated with shamanism with firmware.
7. The qwerty-keyboard lacks ёЁ and Escape (and you try to edit something in ssh in vi)
8. Plastic covering front camera virtually unprotected. Be prepared for the fact that it will scratch and it will no longer be possible to use it.
9. Weak front speaker.

Comment: What is written below is more likely related to the software part, so I take it out of the advantages / disadvantages:
1. Personally, I don’t understand this craving for zakosy under the iPhone and decorations in general. The first thing I got rid of was TouchFlo 3d and manila.
2. It is useful to have various firmware for the device on the sites, including the "cook" version with the ability to independently select the required set of software.
3. The desire to make the interface more "finger-poking" IMHO did not lead to its greater convenience. For example, when you click on status icons, for some reason an additional screen appears, where you need to click on the desired icon again. At the same time, this additional screen appears and disappears by no means instantly. Infuriates.

PS. Dimensions + keyboard + variety of navigation software is why this device was chosen.

Advantages: Most of the advantages listed by others are absolutely out of place. Qualitatively made, no backlash and gaps, wobbles and rattles. Convenient exactly as much as you set it up for yourself - that's for sure. Manila (aka touch fuflo) is for those who are ready to sacrifice functionality and speed for beauty and visuals - that is, not mine. Demolished immediately, because already on the way from the store I could not come to terms with stupidity. I filled in a normal sample, a handicraft one - everything became ideal, GPS began to catch on a cold one in a minute under clear sky(which for me personally is very good), RAM is always at least 100 free, with running navigators and toys through the emulsion - who knows what I'm talking about, he will understand the full scale. :) Video unconverted 640x480 sharashes perfectly, however, it depends on the compression codec - it happened, the speed dropped to 20 frames. Klava works adequately in all layouts (after a literate flash, again). Any issues with blockages and spontaneous movements are easily eliminated by rolling the software. During the day, the camera shoots cool with a slight blue shift. :) As for the design - just shine, nothing superfluous, strict lines, soft touch on the back, metal around the edges, black color - just the height of elegance and consistency, stylish, very stylish ... I look every day and pleases the eye. :)

Disadvantages: But in the evening or in artificial light, the camera sucks to the fullest! It slows down, tries to enlighten, and because of which only blurring is rushing and grain. In short, this is not a camera phone, well, nothing. :) Klava is not used by me as often as expected, because it is not supported in all applications - well, there's nothing you can do about it, you need to sharpen the software under this model. I am silent about the games - there is a current with a stylus. Very, just very inconvenient d-pad - as someone already wrote, left-right clicks are often confused with other buttons, which is why the application constantly crashes, minimizes, etc. - just annoying. A touch-sensitive circular scroller - so-so, could make a clear response like on iPods - it would be good, but otherwise - unnecessary crap. In general, something just seems very damp, as if screwed in a hurry. The screen is prone to scratches, you can see it right away. Eh, it would be like an iPhone harder - there would be no price ... and the film will peel off, since the screen is flush with the edge of the case. But this edge is iron, which is cool! :)

Comment: In general, the shortcomings would not prevent me from buying this phone again, because 90 percent are treated once or twice ... with direct hands and the forces of the guys who make the soft (much respect!). :) The device is stuffed with everything you need. Very, very satisfied (well, I was looking for something for a long time, I'm glad that it was not in vain) ...
