Why is the wireless bell not working in the apartment. How to install a wireless call to an apartment with your own hands: a diagram and detailed instructions

The doorbell is one of the most common devices in everyday life. modern people. When it is in working order, its importance is almost imperceptible. But as soon as the call breaks, it immediately pops up a large number of domestic inconvenience associated with its breakdown. This article describes the instructions for fixing the doorbell.

  • screwdriver;
  • rubber gloves;
  • wire cutters;
  • indicator screwdriver;
  • fork;
  • socket;
  • two table lamps.

The sequence of actions when repairing a call

So, if all the tools indicated in the paragraph above are prepared, then you can get to work.

Step 1 Power outage

In order to start repairing the door lock, you must first de-energize it. But it is worth considering the fact that desk lamp must also feed on something. To do this, turn off just one automatic stopper. Most often, the doorbell is powered by the same machine as the chandelier, so you need to turn on the chandelier and turn off the plugs in turn until it turns off. After the desired plug is turned off, you can get to work. In this case, it will remain possible to connect a table lamp to the outlet.

Step 2 Check for a network break

Before proceeding with the repair, it is necessary to check the network for a break. To do this, after putting on gloves, remove the insulation from the bell wires. Then you need to temporarily connect the socket to the wires, and connect the lamp to the socket. After that, you should turn on the appropriate machine. If the lamp turns on, there is no network break. If the inclusion did not occur, then this is direct evidence of a break in the network. This breakdown should not be repaired on its own, and it is necessary to call an electrician.

Step 3 Check the hardware with an ohmmeter

Again, you need to turn off the corresponding machine. Then you need to turn off the temporary outlet. After it is worth attaching an ohmmeter to the wires, holding them by the insulated parts. Your partner must press the button, and if at this moment the arrow deviated, then this means that both the wire and the button are in good condition.

Step 4 If the needle on the ohmmeter does not deviate

If the deviation of the arrow did not occur, then you need to disassemble the button. Then check the tightness of the ohmmeter contacts and carry out the verification procedure again. If necessary, clean the button contacts. Also, in order to avoid burnout, it is necessary to check the contacts to see if they are constantly busy.

Step 5 Checking the call

After all the above activities have been carried out, it is worth checking it. To do this, you need to connect all the contacts in place, turn on the appropriate machine and make a test run. If after that the call did not work, then it cannot be repaired. You need to buy a new device and install it according to the instructions from the manufacturer. If the call started working, it means that you did a good job. It is necessary to attach all the elements in place so that the wires do not get confused and do not stick out.

Probably most of us have come across various wireless calls, especially in a summer cottage. Indeed, the gate from the country house is usually located far away, and you want to close this gate more tightly from uninvited merchants and dogs. On the other hand, the neighbors will not get through to you - you drink tea at home, and behind the gate the neighbor shouts - “Masters!”. Agree - the situation is familiar. It is clear that the ideal option is to hang an intercom. But this is money and not everyone is ready to purchase such a device, especially to the country, where in winter they can even steal food, not like equipment. An easier option is to call. But very often you don’t want to pull wires from the house to the gate, and in some cases it simply doesn’t work. And here numerous wireless calls come to our aid, which, for a very reasonable price, can be bought in almost every store. At the same time, manufacturers claim that this is a complete alternative to a regular call, only much more convenient and without any installation problems. But having bought such a bell, a person quickly discovers a very high battery consumption in the bell itself (ie, in the part that is at home). It comes to the fact that the most powerful batteries (which are far from cheap) are enough for about a month. As a result, a person is either constantly forced to “feed” the device with more and more new batteries, or he stops using it. But this problem has a very simple solution that allows you to reduce battery costs by orders of magnitude. In today's post, I will tell you how to make a reliable and economical device out of a regular wireless call.

But first, a little theory: A wireless call consists, in fact, of a transmitter and a signal receiver, i.e. we are dealing with a one-way radio exchange. In such a situation, the task of the transmitter, at the user's signal, is to generate a radio pulse of maximum power at a specific point in time. Hence the power of the call button, in which the transmitter is integrated, from a 12V battery. But this device generates signals very rarely, only when someone presses a button. Accordingly, energy is consumed only at the moment of signal generation, and the rest of the time the battery is not discharged. Well, since the bell is not a piano, then usually a small battery lasts for at least a year, or even two or three. Everything, of course, also depends on the distance to the receiver (the greater the signal transmission distance, the sooner the call will be disrupted when the transmitter battery runs out). Well, from obstacles on the way (to pass a signal through iron or stone obstacles, the charge power is required much more than when transmitting a signal through the wall of a wooden house). But in general, it can be argued that the battery in the transmitter "lives" for quite a long time.

Another thing is the receiver, which is placed in the house. This device is forced to constantly work "on reception", i.e. be turned on and monitor the signal of the transmitter, so that when one appears, it will notify others with a call. It does not require a lot of power, but it needs permanent job, therefore, as a rule, the receiver uses three AA batteries each of 1.5 V (however, as a rule, only two batteries work for the receiver itself, but we will return to this below).

Accordingly, the constant work "on reception" quite quickly puts the batteries. As a result, it is the receiver, which seems to be in the house and is not subject to, say, frost, “eats” batteries much faster than the transmitter on the street. From personal experience, I’ll say that blue “enengizers” become unusable in about a month, respectively, everything else will “wear out” much faster. I’m generally silent about batteries (you are tormented to charge).
Such energy consumption is very inconvenient, and the point here is not even the cost (well, in all honesty, 100 rubles a month is not such a big amount), but the fact that most often you just forget to change the batteries on time and, as a result, a guest who you need, just doesn't get into the house. It’s good if he has a phone number, but if it’s a random neighbor who passed by your apiary and noticed a flying swarm ...

And so, we found out that the main problem with wireless calls is the rapid discharge of batteries in the receiving device. But how can this be avoided?

The answer, I think, is on the surface - to power it from the network. Yes, indeed, 220V power supply can solve the problem of battery consumption. But how to do that? I think those who are at least a little familiar with the train will say “through an adapter” and, in fact, they will be right. However, if you connect the power from the 4.5V adapter to the contacts in the battery compartment of the call receiver, then the device will not work in 80% of cases. So what's the deal? What to do if this is your case?

But the fact is that many wireless calls in the receiver use a "cunning" scheme - there the board itself is powered by 3V, and the speaker is powered by 4.5V for greater volume. If you disassemble the receiver, you can see that the first two batteries in the circuit feed only the receiver board, and all together they feed the speaker. Accordingly, in order to start the operation of the device from the adapter, you need to connect the power supply of the board and the speaker and apply a voltage between 3V and 4.5V to the common contact. I would recommend something in the range of 3.5-4V with mandatory stabilization.

In principle, the connection of contacts is done “one-two” and even without a soldering iron (although soldering is still more reliable), another thing is the power source. It’s good if there is a suitable one, but in my case, for example, this didn’t happen (as, I think, most people won’t either, since 90% of all adapters in the average person’s house are charging from already exhausted cell phones and players, and their voltage is higher than required). And even if you have found an adapter with a suitable voltage, do not rush to rejoice. First, check its real voltage with a tester - very often Chinese adapters give out voltage much more than what is written on their case. Remember that more than 4V power can "kill" the call receiver.

In principle, a stabilized voltage reduction circuit can be soldered on resistors and diodes, but for this you need to have at least some idea of \u200b\u200bwhat needs to be done. Here I will not go into such details and explain "for dummies" what you need to take in order to get the required voltage.

To begin with, any 5V adapter is taken (say, iPhone charging from the outlet, but not native, but primitive made in China, since it really gives out a little more than the prescribed voltage). Personally, I used a similar adapter from an old player.

Next, you take an adapter to power the same iPhone from the car’s mains, disassemble it, take out the board, and hum the charging output contacts for the iPhone from the mains to the place where the power supply for the car models (12V) is (only follow the polarity). Accordingly, at the place where the charging voltage for the car adapter comes out, solder the wires to power the bell. And that's it. The car adapter for charging the phone lowers the current approximately as needed for us, while it has protection against electrical fluctuations. This is exactly what we need. At the same time, everything charging device you can buy the same "Auchan" at a price of 100 rubles apiece (which will pay off after two months of operation of the call).

Then you can insulate the board, but not necessarily - no one will be harmed by a voltage of 5V, isolation is needed rather to protect the board itself from accidental influences. Personally, it looks like this to me.

Let the doorbell not be calling card at home, like the front door. But he leaves some idea of his owners. Typically, doorbells are selected by a melody that turns on when a button is pressed. More sophisticated buyers pay attention to specifications such a device. A wireless doorbell is a great way to show your guests your status and taste.

How wireless call works

The principle of operation of a wired call is very simple. From the button installed in the outer part of the door, a wire is laid connected to the speaker, which is located inside the apartment. Electricity is connected to the speaker. When the call button is pressed, the circuit is closed and the speaker is turned on, playing a melody.

Wireless calls use the same principle as their wired counterparts. But to turn on their dynamics, you do not need to close electrical circuit call button. The signal from such a button is transmitted to the call receiver using radio waves. The sensor reads them and activates the speaker - a melody sounds.

Due to the absence of wires in the device, the installation of wireless calls is greatly facilitated. No need to drill holes and run a wire from the button to the speaker of the call.

Wireless calls can be of two types:

  • call speakers of the first type are connected to electrical network, and the button is battery operated;
  • in some models, not only the button, but also the speaker is powered by a battery. The installation of such wireless bells consists only in installing a button on the outside of the door and installing a speaker inside the apartment. It does not need to be connected to electricity.

Attention! When setting up a wireless bell, you need to consider the maximum possible distance between the button and the speaker. Depending on the materials from which the walls are made, this distance may vary.

Some wireless calls are equipped with several speakers at once. They can be installed in different parts at home: in the kitchen, in the garage, in the workshop, etc. - where there is a possibility of not hearing the speaker at the front door.

Setting up a wireless call

  • Equipment inspection.

After purchasing such a device, you need to inspect its equipment. In addition to the main components, modern doorbells can have intercom modules, a video eye, a motion sensor, etc. Check that all accessories are in place.

  • Choosing a place to install.

We unpack all the components of the call and select the place where its modules will be attached. If the “internal” parts of the bell are powered by the mains, you need to think about how to provide them with access to electricity.

For external button you also need to choose a location. Typically, manufacturers of wireless calls provide buttons with double-sided adhesive tape ("Velcro"). I must say right away that this option is not very practical. It is best to fix the call button with self-tapping screws.

You can do this next to the doorway. If this is not possible, then a door leaf can be used for this purpose.

  • Setting the wireless call button.

After you have decided on the place, you can proceed to the installation of the button. If it will be mounted near the doorway on the wall, then using a perforator, you need to make holes for the dowels. To do this, you need to choose the appropriate diameter of the drill and drill to the desired depth. We install the button with self-tapping screws.

Attention! The button of the old wired bell, if you have one, must be carefully removed. To do this, you need to de-energize the wires that fit it, disconnect them from the button and completely remove them from the wall. Technological holes that remain from such wiring must be sealed with putty.

  • Installation of indoor wireless bell units.

The internal parts of the wireless bell do not need to be hung on the wall. Some modules can simply be placed on the nightstand next to the door or in the place where they will be used. If you decide to attach them to the wall, then again you need a puncher for this.

Attention! If the internal parts of the wireless bell are powered by the mains, they must be connected to it. To do this, use the instructions. This procedure is no more complicated than connecting a conventional outlet.

  • Functionality check.

We insert the battery into the button and check the operability of the system. If a melody starts to sound when you press the button, then everything is set correctly. You can use.

Wireless calls are not required additional connection to the network, because they work on a battery or batteries. If the bell stops working normally, the first thing to do is to replace the power source and check the operation of the bell again. However, if the problem is not solved, then a deeper examination will be needed: the mechanism should be opened and the integrity of the structure checked. From constant use, some wiring may move away. It also happens that the parts of the call are completely worn out, and depending on the model, it will be possible to replace them or you will have to purchase a new device.

Wireless doorbell working principle, easy to install by yourself

In the age of modern technology, more and more new gadgets are appearing to make our lives more comfortable and simplify our work.

One such device is the wireless doorbell, which has replaced its outdated counterparts. It's simple compact device can have many functions, and its installation is so simple that it does not require special skills and the presence of any special tools.

Recently, such devices have become more and more popular. So what is the secret of such demand? The answer lies in the principle of the call.

Operating principle

To make it easier to understand how a radio call works, let's first look at how a regular wired call works. It consists of two parts connected by a wire. The outer part is a button that is installed outside the front door.

The second inner part is a receiving device with a speaker. It connects to the mains. By pressing the button on external device a signal begins to flow through the wire to the internal device, then it is converted and fed to the speaker, as a result of which a bell rings.

The principle of operation of a wireless doorbell is similar, the only difference is that the signal from the button (transmitter) is sent to the internal device (receiver) via radio waves, not wires. To do this, the transmitter and receiver have mini-antennas, through which the signal is transmitted.

Most modern devices of this type, the role of the antenna is performed by the circuit of the microcircuit. This allows them to be compact.

Such wireless devices are especially popular not only among the owners of apartments, but also among people who have private houses. This is due to the fact that there is no need to drill walls, lay wires through the air or underground from the gate or gate to the house. In addition, the range of such calls can be up to 150 meters, which is a definite plus.

Types of wireless doorbells

Today there are many various models wireless doorbells. They differ in price, configuration, functionality and type of power supply, reliability and scope.

Models of such gadgets are presented in various configurations. They may have multiple buttons paired with the same receiver. This is useful if there are multiple entrances to a room or lot.

Wireless call with two buttonsBut there are options with several receivers that work from one button. Such receivers also have many advantages. For example, they are installed in places where usually the bell located near the door can not be heard (kitchen, bathroom, garage, and so on).

Wireless call with two receivers If the distance between the button and the speaker is greater than the range of the device, then it can be supplemented with a repeater, which will significantly increase the range.

The principle of its operation is that it simultaneously performs the functions of a receiver and a transmitter. A repeater configured for both devices receives a signal from the transmitter and transmits it to the receiver.

The following main types of devices are distinguished by the type of power source:

  • The transmitter and receiver are powered by batteries or rechargeable batteries.
  • The transmitter is battery powered and the receiver is mains powered.
  • The transmitter operates by pressing (without batteries), and the receiver - from the mains or batteries (accumulator).

The first type is the most common, as it is simple and does not require a network connection; The transmitter and receiver require only the insertion of AA or AAA batteries, depending on the model. The second type is less common, but more economical, since a speaker connected to the mains consumes little electricity and does not require constantly changing batteries to operate. There are two options here: the receiver is plugged into a socket or wires are connected to it.

But the third type is very promising. Its essence lies in the fact that the transmitter starts working by pressing a button. That is, when pressed, energy is generated sufficient to send a signal to the receiver. This type is very popular among owners of private houses, since in winter in the cold, the batteries are quickly discharged, and the batteries lose their capacity much faster.

Models of wireless doorbells also differ in functionality. The main difference is the number of melodies played. AT budget options there are usually no more than ten of them.

In expensive models, there are better speakers, and the set of melodies is an order of magnitude larger. In addition, some models provide the ability to download own melodies or sounds via electronic media or wireless connection. In more expensive configurations of such devices, the functions of a vibrating call or a light indicator of a call are also provided. This is very convenient if someone is resting in the house, and it is necessary to know that guests have arrived.

More advanced models can be equipped with a surveillance camera, video intercom and motion sensor. The sensor is triggered when movement starts at a distance of several meters from the door, it turns on the camera and records what is happening. Thus, such devices can become part of a smart home or security system if everything is configured correctly.

Wireless bell with camera and motion sensorDepending on the purpose, there are two main types of wireless bells: outdoor and indoor.

The first, as a rule, is chosen by the owners of private houses, and the second - by the owners of apartments. Since outdoor involves the installation of the transmitter outdoors, it must have such qualities as resistance to ultraviolet rays, moisture resistance and shock resistance.

For more durable operation, most models are equipped with a small visor that is installed above the button and protects the device from rain or direct sunlight.

In addition, the case of such a button must be sealed to protect the filling from dust or moisture. If protection against vandals is necessary, then, as a rule, the receiver is placed in metal case, the button itself is also made of metal.

Therefore, before deciding which call is better, you need to decide on the place of its installation and the necessary functionality.

Self installation

So how do you install a wireless doorbell yourself? As mentioned earlier, setting up a wireless bell is pretty straightforward. The easiest to install is the model whose receiver is powered by batteries or a rechargeable battery. It is enough to attach it to self-tapping screws or dowels, depending on the material of the walls.

Double sided tape can be used for faster installation. The button is attached in the same way. Before that, batteries must be inserted into the receiver and transmitter. If the receiver is connected to the network, then you must first de-energize the wires connected, and then connect the receiver to the mains.

Why does a wireless bell on a metal fence ring by itself

A high-quality wireless call to the front door of an apartment or house is in no way inferior to its wired counterpart, and even surpasses it in ease of installation and dismantling.

The signal transmission unit can be so tiny that outwardly wireless call models are no different from ordinary ones. They are equipped with a video peephole combined with a motion sensor, a backlight, an anti-vandal cover and other little things to increase the comfort of use.

The main features of wireless call models

When choosing any thing, first of all, it is worth evaluating how it will fit the conditions in which it will be used. To understand exactly whether it is worth installing a wireless call at home, you need to evaluate their features in more detail:

  • No need to pull the wires from the button to the speaker. This is the main difference that often influences the choice of this type of device for a private house, in which the front door is far enough from the gate and a friendly dog runs between them.
  • Autonomous food. Since wireless calls are battery powered, when the power goes out, guests do not have to call the host for a long time from the street. It is also a determining factor for suburban areas to which electricity is not provided. Battery power at the same time creates certain inconveniences associated with their periodic replacement, but here you have to choose what is more important.
  • Wireless call is not available everywhere. It is necessary to look at the distance from the receiver to the transmitter and for the presence of obstacles between them that prevent the passage of the radio signal.
  • If the house has more than one door (or gate), but several, then you can purchase an electric bell with two buttons. This will significantly reduce the cost of their installation compared to wired models.
  • Easy installation, dismantling and transfer of the button. This feature is rarely required, but if you need to move the gate, change the side of its opening or install mailbox exactly where the button is located, it will be much easier to do this. If with a standard call you will inevitably have to shift the wiring, then the wireless one is simply outweighed.

Scheme and principle of operation of wireless calls

For an ordinary user, the principle of operation of wireless calls is very simple - the transmitter button is pressed, the radio signal from it goes to the receiver, activates an electrical circuit there that supplies voltage to the speakers and plays a melody.

Despite the fact that the device’s circuitry is rarely applied to it by the manufacturer, numerous radio amateurs have adopted the remote method of controlling the device itself, making with their own hands not only calls, but also various control devices - a wireless light switch or a remote garage door lift.

The circuits of these devices are easy to manufacture and unpretentious in operation. The first two are separate boards for the button and the receiver, and the third circuit does not even require any configuration - the receiver is an ordinary supergenerator and, according to user reviews, everything is highly stable.

Video peephole for wireless call

The general scheme of mounting the bell on the door can allow you to remotely monitor the entrance or street. If a video peephole with a camera is installed on the front door or in the gate, then inside the house you can immediately see who is calling.

Depending on the device model, the image that the video eye transmits is displayed on a separate receiving display or transmitted to an ordinary computer monitor. The quality of the picture is determined by the camera that is installed in the video eye.

When such a device scheme is selected, it must be borne in mind that a video eye with a camera requires a more thorough power supply. The main solutions to this problem are:

  • Choosing a high-quality kit with minimal power consumption (if you need to record constantly).
  • The scheme provides for the use of the camera only after pressing the call button (the video eye captures only those who called).
  • The video eye with the camera is powered separately from the network. It would seem, why then a wireless call, but such a scheme is also quite common.
  • The connection diagram must be equipped with a motion sensor (a video eye with a camera starts working when someone passes by - useful if there are people with an inadequate sense of humor in the entrance).

Depending on why it is planned to install a video eye with a camera, the resolution of the latter is selected - what quality it will shoot a picture. It should also be noted that the higher the resolution, the large quantity data will be transmitted by the camera via a radio channel per unit of time, and the more demanding such a circuit is for power supply.

Nuances when choosing a wireless call

Like conventional models, wireless doorbells for the front door must be chosen according to certain rules, especially if the purchase of such a thing is made for the first time, and there is no experience in operating such devices.

Distance

The main quality for a wireless call is the radius and power of the signal that is transmitted from the button to the speaker.

If there are 5-10 meters between them, then this indicator is hardly worth paying close attention to, and when it is supposed to use the device at a distance of 50-150 meters, it is better to test it before buying and agree with the seller about an exchange or refund, if right place this call still won't work. This is also quite possible - after all, you can’t see with your eyes whether there are obstacles in the way of the signal or not.

Food

The number of batteries needed to operate the device, what types are used, and how often they will need to be changed. It is unlikely that anyone will answer the last question truthfully, but if the seller praises the unprecedented efficiency very much, then it is worth considering. You should not pay special attention to the type of batteries - the main thing is that they can be freely purchased.

Equipment

Everything is simple here - you need to check on your passport so that everything is in place. Particular attention should be paid to a call equipped with a video eye, several buttons and other additional trifles. If at home it turns out that some part is missing, then at best you will have to go back, and at worst you will have to prove that this is a factory shortage, and not the loss of spare parts due to the fault of the buyer.

Overpayment

Opportunity to purchase a simpler model. If from a call you need it to just ring, then buying a device that can be connected to a computer to record your ringtone into it and overpaying for it twice or three times - most likely it makes no sense.

Fastening

Velcro can leave traces of glue on the surface if you rearrange the button, and the screw will have to be screwed into the wall or front door. Velcro may fall off, and the screw is screwed in once. Which is better - you need to choose according to the situation.

Manufacturer's Warranty

There is nothing special to break in simple calls and taking it for repair can cost more than buying a new device, but it is advisable to clarify this issue. If a model with a camera, an internal screen and a motion sensor is purchased, then you should not only pay attention to the guarantee, but insistently require that all documents be filled out.

General impression

In addition to the fact that the device should be beautiful, you need to look at the quality of the materials from which it is made. If a street bell is purchased, it is better to choose a button with an anti-vandal case.

Next - pay attention to the melody that you have to listen to every day, and choose a device from the manufacturer. The last point is quite important - many characteristics of the device and the quality of its warranty service depend on it.

Call setting

Based on the size of the button and the functionality of the device itself, the place for their installation is also selected. The choice here is not rich - it is necessary that the button be clearly visible, and if it is an entrance, then it should be clear which door it belongs to.

  • Wall next to the door. This place for fastening is used most often - if the button is Velcro, then its fastening depends on whether the wall is painted or whitewashed. In the first case, the surface must be carefully degreased, and in the second, it is better to use a screw.
  • Platband or door leaf. Everything is extremely simple - the usual fastening on a self-tapping screw.
  • At the gate of a private house. Here we need to think more not about where and how to screw the button, but how to protect it from direct rays of the sun, rain and other atmospheric phenomena.

When installing speakers inside the house, there are two options - if it's just a call, then install it as inconspicuously as possible, but taking into account that you may have to turn off or change the melody, which requires relatively free access to it.

We choose a bell for our apartment, we analyze why the bell sometimes does not want to work

The bell is used to let hosts know when guests have arrived. In Soviet times, the range of calls produced by our domestic industry was very small and there was no problem of choice as such.

Now everything has changed. The number of models is off scale and this fact makes it very difficult to choose. Just look at how wide the range is of a conventional electric wired doorbell! But, as if that weren't enough, they also invented calls that work wirelessly.

But let's not rush, let's go in chronological order. So, meet! - wired calls.

Wired calls

Wired ones are two modules - a button and the bell itself, which are connected by wires (well, of course). These are the most reliable and affordable devices for the end user. They don’t care about anything, no interference in the radio channel, no batteries that have run out in the cold.

The principle of operation is sometimes as simple as Soviet three kopecks: thanks to a normally open button, initially no current flows through the circuit. It is worth pressing the key, as the circuit closes and the voltage is supplied to the bell module, which works.

The most primitive models will ring while the circuit is closed, a little more advanced ones will fall silent after a specified period of time. This is necessary so that if the button is blocked, for example, with a match, the bell does not ring indefinitely and does not overheat.

Wireless calls

The advantage of wireless calls is obvious: there is no need to run wires from the button to the bell module. This will be fully appreciated by the owners of large private houses or summer cottages, where the distance from the door or gate to the room where the owners rest can be very significant.

Such calls, of course, are more expensive and more complicated than wireless ones. And as the system reliability theory says, the more complex the device, the higher the probability of its failure. In addition, in all such calls (in the radio button itself) batteries are inserted, which have an unpleasant feature of sitting down at the most inopportune moment.

In such cases, you have to take all measures to protect the button module from the effects of the external environment (well, there is rain or hail the size of a chicken egg).

Stove heating: an echo of the past or a modern solution? With batteries, in fact, everything is not so bad, because the batteries are consumed only at the moment the call button is pressed, so they usually last for a long time. The only thing that can significantly reduce their resource is severe frosts or a curve chinese pattern, which eats batteries even in idle mode.

Since the module with a button and batteries is quite complicated (after all, there must be a radio transmitter inside a special call activation code sequence), it becomes a desirable prey for all radio amateurs.

Some literally can't get past your button without picking it off with a screwdriver and putting it in their pocket.

By the way, technology does not stand still and now some radio calls are equipped with a video camera and a door lock control module, which turns them into a full-fledged access control system with visual identification (or even fixation) of the visitor.

Sound module

The ringing unit itself can be arranged either on the principle of a primitive school bell (remember, were there such?), Or in the form of a solenoid with a movable core that strikes loudly on a freely suspended metal plate.

But there are fewer and fewer such calls, now more are in use. electronic circuits with speakers or piezoelectric elements. One of the reasons is that such a call can sometimes work spontaneously, and this is not very convenient for anyone.

Accordingly, this gives the widest possibilities in choosing melodies, programming to turn off so that they do not disturb at night, etc. A cool modern bell, as a rule, is a symbiosis of a video eye, the bell itself and a system that unlocks the door remotely.

The store can offer you two options for doorbells with a button: wireless and wired.

The most interesting and convenient choice is a wireless bell, its installation does not require wiring.

It transmits a signal over a distance of up to 50 meters or more, which is very convenient not only in apartments, but also in private houses, since there is no need to run a wire from the gate to the residential area.

However, wireless calls have one significant drawback - they run on batteries, which have to be changed frequently.

In this regard, traditional wired doorbells are much more practical, especially when it comes to a city apartment, where all the wires have already been brought out by builders.

A wired bell works approximately on the same principle as any lighting device in a room: one of the two power wires for the sound device is supplied directly, and the second is connected to the break (through a button). When the button is pressed, the circuit is closed and a signal is triggered.

This is what a standard doorbell button wiring diagram looks like:

Connecting a doorbell button - instructions and rules

You can connect a wired doorbell yourself.

You just need to have at hand the necessary tools and materials:

  • Electric drill with drill bit for concrete
  • Dowel-nails of a suitable diameter;
  • Screwdriver with indicator;
  • Copper twin-core wire with a cross section of 0.5 sq. mm. and cable channel - they will be needed if the wires are not laid;
  • Construction knife;
  • Side cutters;
  • Electrical tape.

A typical wiring diagram for a wired doorbell is no different from a wiring diagram for a light switch.

The only difference is that instead of a lamp, audio device, and instead of a switch - a button.

Which wire to run on the bell button- phase or zero? Zero is connected directly to the sound mechanism, and the phase is fed to it through a button.

If you have moved to a new building and are going to connect a bell, use the following instructions:

  1. Turn off the power supply at the electrical distribution panel;
  2. Choose the most suitable place for installing the sound mechanism in the apartment and the button near the front door. The optimal installation height of the call button is 145-150 centimeters;
  3. Lay a wire that will connect all the elements of the circuit;
  4. Secure the button and buzzer by removing the front covers to allow access to the wire terminals;
  5. Zero connect directly to the sound mechanism;
  6. Connect the button phase to the doorbell phase;
  7. Connect the phase from the buzzer to the corresponding terminal of the switch box;
  8. To connect the button, disassemble its body in accordance with the instructions and fasten it to 2 dowel-nails. Connect two wires to the button contacts - you can connect the wires to the bell button in any order;
  9. Recheck that the wires are connected correctly.

Why might the doorbell button not work?

Reasons why it doesn't work sound signal when you press the call button, there may be several:

  1. The sound mechanism itself is faulty. To check this, you should try to apply voltage to the bell terminals directly. If the signal does not work in this case, the reason is a failed sound device.
  2. The button doesn't work. Typically, the reason is that the bridge does not close the contacts. You can check this by connecting the contacts with a jumper (for example, a screwdriver). There may be no contact due to the formation of oxide on the bridge, which in most cases is made of a copper alloy. The problem in most cases is solved by cleaning the bridge and contacts.
  3. Button-sound mechanism connection is incorrect. Zero should go to the call through the button, and the phase should go directly to the sound mechanism. To fix the problem, you should check the connection and correct the error.
  4. The integrity of the wire is broken. To check the health of the circuit (presence / absence of breaks in it), ring the wire with a multimeter (tester).

Attention! When performing the above manipulations, it should be borne in mind that the doorbell is powered by 220 V.

Basic safety rules must be observed when working with electrical appliances.

Answers to frequently asked questions about the protection of the doorbell button

If the bell is installed indoors, no additional measures to protect the button are required. It is a completely different matter when the call button is installed outdoors, where it is exposed to moisture and temperature changes.

  1. How to protect the bell button from the rain? For these purposes, you can build a small visor from any improvised means. However, it is better to purchase a ready-made waterproof button. Additionally, it will not be superfluous to treat the surface with hydrophobic (water-repellent) agents.
  2. Are there anti-vandal doorbell buttons for outdoor installation? Yes, there are special buttons on sale in an ergonomic metal case with increased strength. They are sold separately, cost about 200-300 rubles.
