Flip the image as a mirror. Mirror text in Microsoft Word

Good day to all blog site friends
Sometimes you need to get pictures in mirror image and there are several options for this simple ways using standard or third-party software, as well as various online services. In this article, we will consider all of the options listed.

How to make a mirror image in Paint

Any Windows operating system comes pre-installed with graphics paint editor, from which we begin the list. You need to write “paint” in the search bar⇒run the application.

After selecting the desired image on your computer, File ⇒ Open.

Click on the Image tab ⇒ Rotate ⇒ Flip Horizontal or Vertical, depending on the need.

How to make a mirror image in Word

The Word text editor is probably more familiar to many than the graphical one, and you can do a lot of things with it besides generating documents. So:

Create a new document or open an existing one

Insert a picture

Right-click on it

A menu will open where you select the Picture Format tab.

Here we are interested in three points of Rotation around an axis, but in this case, for mirroring, select the “X” item and enter 180°, after which the goal will be achieved.

Mirroring in Photoshop

This method is also very fast and simple like the previous two, but it requires the presence of the Photoshop graphic editor, which not everyone has in their arsenal.

Launch the program, insert a picture by dragging it or File ⇒ Open ⇒ Select a picture.

Edit ⇒ Transform ⇒ Flip Horizontal. At this point, all actions are completed, the drawing will take the desired form.

How to do mirror image online

If you don’t have any of the above programs, then it doesn’t matter, there are special online services and I’ll show you one of them now. Let's move on to this link to the site, a window will open:

Click the Browse button to search for an image on your PC

Flip: Direction selection

Leave the rest as is, click OK.

In this window you can immediately Download the processed image, Open for viewing or go back.

Well, all four methods shown in the article are very easy to manage and not time consuming; everything is done with a few clicks in less than a minute. This concludes today's topic until we meet again.

P.S Thanks to mirror reflection, the picture is naturally unique, provided that it has not already been flipped over.

When working in MS Word the need arises to rotate text, not all users know how to do this. To effectively solve this problem, you should look at the text not as a set of letters, but as an object. It is on the object that you can perform various manipulations, including rotation around an axis in any precise or arbitrary direction.

We have already discussed the topic of text rotation earlier, in this article I would like to talk about how to make a mirror image of text in Word. Although the task seems more complicated, it can be solved using the same method and a couple of additional mouse clicks.

1. Create a text field. To do this, in the tab "Insert" in Group "Text" select item "Text field".

2. Copy the text you want to mirror ( CTRL+C) and paste into the text field ( CTRL+V). If the text is not yet printed, enter it directly into the text field.

3. Perform the necessary manipulations on the text inside the text field - change the font, size, color and other important parameters.

Mirror text

You can mirror text in two directions - relative to the vertical (top to bottom) and horizontal (left to right) axes. In both cases, this can be done using the tab tools "Format", which appears in the Quick Access Toolbar after adding a shape.

1. Double-click on the text field to open the tab "Format".

2. In a group "Arrange" click the button "To turn" and select "Flip Left to Right"(horizontal reflection) or "Reflect from top to bottom"(vertical reflection).

3. The text inside the text box will be mirrored.

Make the text field transparent by following these steps:

  • Right-click inside the field and click on the button "Circuit";
  • Select an option from the drop-down menu "No outline".

Horizontal reflection can also be done manually. To do this, you simply need to swap the top and bottom edges of the text box shape. That is, you need to click on the middle marker on the top edge and drag it down, placing it under the bottom edge. The text field shape, its rotation arrow will also be at the bottom.

Now you know how to mirror text in Word.

The Image menu in Paint.NET combines commands that run on all layers of the current image at the same time.

Crop an image to the edge of a selection in Paint.NET

Menu item "Crop to selection" in the "Image" menu of the Paint.NET graphic editor is available if there is a selected area in the image. Using this command will cause the image size to be reduced so that only the selected area remains. If the selection is not a rectangle, the image will be cropped to a rectangular shape that includes the selection area. However, areas of the image that were not included in the selection area will become transparent in this case.

Let's give an example. In the first picture of the car, I used the lasso marquee tool to select an area. The result obtained after using the Crop to Selection command for this image is shown in the second figure.

Note that the size of the drawing itself, after using the Crop to Selection command, was reduced to the size of the rectangle containing the selection. Areas of the image that are not included in the selection area are displayed as a checkerboard pattern. The checkerboard pattern is not part of the drawing; it simply represents the transparent areas of the image in Paint.NET.

How to resize a picture in Paint.NET

Team "Resize" in Paint.NET allows you to resize the entire image by stretching or shrinking it. To change the size of a picture, you can specify a percentage change relative to the current size or explicitly set the dimensions of the width and height of the desired new picture. If the "Maintain proportions" checkbox is checked, then when you change one of the parameters: width or height, the second parameter will be calculated automatically based on their current ratio.

The Resize command in Paint.NET allows you to control the print size of an image. The print size is determined by the “resolution” parameter, the default value of which is 96 dots (pixels) per inch, or what is the same, 37.8 dots (pixels) per centimeter. For example, if you specify the width of the image print size as 10 centimeters, then at a resolution of 37.8 dots per centimeter, the image width will be 378 pixels.

You can change the print size of the image in the dialog box by simply changing the "resolution" parameter. Please note that when you change the image resolution, the size of the pixel itself does not change. The image size automatically changes due to redrawing: thinning or restoration, depending on which direction the “resolution” parameter was changed.

There are several options for redrawing an image when changing resolution. The choice of redrawing option determines how the colors of new points will be calculated based on the colors of points already in the drawing. Bilinear and bicubic redrawing, as well as redrawing taking into account neighboring pixels, are available for selection. With the default "best quality" option, Paint.NET itself uses either bicubic redrawing or supersampling, depending on how the image was resized.

Let's illustrate the changes in image size using the following pictures. Below is the original image.

The first picture shows the result of enlarging the picture, the second shows the result of compression. To improve the sharpness of a picture after resizing it, you can use the standard sharpening effect.

Canvas size in Paint.NET

The Canvas Size command allows you to resize the canvas in Paint.NET without changing the dimensions of the image itself. This command has a dialog box, just like in previous paragraph menu, but in this case there is an additional snapping option "Pin" in the window. If the new canvas size is larger than the existing image, then the free space will be filled with the color selected as a secondary color in the Color Picker.

Let's give an example of changing the canvas size in Paint.NET on a picture of a car we already know.

The first image shows the result of enlarging the canvas in Paint.NET, the image was centered, and white was used as an additional color. The second picture shows an example of shrinking the canvas using the same center pin.

How to rotate a picture in Paint.NET from left to right or mirror it

Teams "Rotate horizontally" or "Rotate vertically" in Paint.NET I allow you to rotate a drawing from right to left horizontally or flip it vertically. An illustration of the actions of these commands is given using the example of a picture of a car already known to us in the two following figures.

How to rotate a picture clockwise or counterclockwise in Paint.NET

A series of "Rotate..." commands allows Paint.NET to rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, as well as flip it 180 degrees.

Merge Image Layers in Paint.NET

Menu item "Merge All Layers" Available in Paint.NET only if the image contains multiple layers. In this case, when executing this command, all layers of the image will be combined into one layer.

Often when designing an image there is a need to reflect a picture or text. This can be done in several ways that will not take much time.

Why do you need the mirror function?

Let's say you need to make a beautiful composition for a website, where a pretty girl will be reflected in the mirror against the backdrop of nature. Or you just need to make a mirror image of a picture downloaded from some site so that it is not too similar to the original image. Or the photo turned out not very good, but if you turn it in a mirror, it will be better.

This is far from full list reasons why they do mirror image. Even if this function is not needed, it does not mean that it will not be needed tomorrow. You can mirror an image in any editor and in almost every image viewing program. This is done very simply: you just need to open the editor or program, find the “mirror” or “flip” button (choose horizontally or vertically as necessary), after which the photo will go into the state we need. The only difficulty is that this function is located in different places in different programs, so let’s look at the most popular viewing and editing utilities graphic files for this function.

Viewers

Almost all graphic file viewers have a mirroring function. Except for the built-in Windows Photo Viewer utility, which does not have this capability.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager

This viewer is included in the software package Microsoft Office. It has a small set of functions: remove red eyes, adjust brightness and contrast, crop and flip photos. You can mirror it as follows: launch the utility and open the photo (or open the photo using the picture manager), in the top toolbar click on “Picture”, where from the drop-down list select “Rotate and flip”. Now in the panel on the right we determine exactly how to reflect it and save it.

FastStone Image Viewer

Quite a powerful viewer of graphic elements, which has a lot of different functions and effects, among them “Mirror reflection”. We go two ways:

  • open the utility and find the desired image in the file tree;
  • open the photo using this program directly.

Now right-click anywhere in the picture, find the “Change” item and select “flip horizontally” (vertically).

Paint

The drawing tool known to everyone from an early age can also turn a drawing upside down. The procedure is the same as with other programs: launch the painter and open the picture (you can drag it) or open it “with help”. Now on the top toolbar we find an icon with two triangles and a rotating arrow (located next to the “Select” function). Click on the triangles and click on the items “Flip horizontally” or “Flip vertically”.

Using the Adobe Photoshop graphics editor

Photoshop is perhaps the most famous graphics editor. This is all thanks to its impressive features for editing and creating graphic files. Of course, this utility will be able to reflect photos without any problems.

Open the image using Photoshop and go to the “Image” tab. In the list that appears, find the “Rotate canvas” item. We point at it and see how another list appears, in which you need to click “Flip canvas horizontally” or “Flip canvas vertically”.

Reflecting the text

In addition to reflecting a picture, many text and graphics editors are capable of mirroring text. We will not consider all programs, we will focus on the most popular - Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop.

You can mirror text in Word as follows. Open the document and go to the "Insert" tab in the top toolbar. Here we find the “WordArt” tool, click on it and select the template you like. Next we write required text. Now we have two ways to reflect what we have written:

  • Click on the text, as a result of which dots appear around it to change the size. We clamp one such point, which is located in the middle on either side, and drag it in the opposite direction;

  • click on the text, after which the “Format” tab appears in the toolbar, highlighted a certain color and signed “Working with WordArt objects”. Go to it and find the “Rotate” tool (with the image of two triangles with an arrow).

Adobe Photoshop

We proceed in the same way as with the image. But first you need to write the text. In the toolbar, click on the “T” button (or the Shift+T combination), click on the sheet with the cursor and type the text. Then go to the “Image” tab, “Rotate Image” and “Flip Canvas”. But before you make a mirror image of what you have written, you need this particular layer to be selected, otherwise something else will be reflected.

Paint is a simple graphic editor, which is a licensed component of the operating system version Windows systems. Despite the fact that in modern world There are many other more functional programs and utilities, Paint remains an excellent solution for standard operations. Any user can easily and quickly understand its functions. This article will look at three operations that can be performed with a photo file or picture in Paint.

How to reduce crop and mirror image in Paint?

Microsoft Paint is considered an editor that allows you to cope with tasks of minimal and medium complexity. Often users encounter such a problem as reducing the image size. This is especially important if in the future the file needs to be sent to a device that cannot open a photo or picture from high resolution. Another option for this situation is the desire to reduce the file size. For example, a photo takes up 5 MB of storage space, but you need to reduce it to 3 MB.

So how do you make an image smaller in Paint?

  • Action #1: Open your editor and open it with the image or photo you want to reduce. This can be done in two ways - either through the “File” menu and the “Open” tab (the combination is known as Ctrl + O) or simply by dragging the file into the working window using the mouse.
  • Action #2: Once the image has appeared in your work area, open the “Image” menu located in the upper left corner of the editor. There will be a "Resize" tab here. It can also be launched using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+L.
  • Action #3: In the dialog box that appears, you will be faced with several fields at once. The first one, located at the very top, will report the new size of the image after resizing. In the future, when you change the size, you will see how the image volume in KB or MB changes. Next comes the selection field. Here you should set the option " Best quality”, because it is this that will allow you to preserve the original state of the image as much as possible. Next comes the percentage field. This is quite convenient if you want to reduce the image several times. For example, if you want your file to be half the size, then set the indicator to “50%”. The same can be done by analogy in another case.
  • Action No. 4: if you need to set only the size that you need individually, then check the box next to the “Absolute size” field. Now below you can set the height, width and placement in pixels. By checking the “Maintain proportions” box, you can get an image without distortion.
  • Action No. 5: after the completed operations, you must click the “Okay” command. The image became smaller. All that remains is to save it. This can be done using commands such as "Save" and "Save As..." in the File menu.

How to crop an image inPaint?

A situation often arises when an image contains details that are unnecessary to you. At the same time, I want to leave only what should be in focus. This operation can be easily done using Paint.

  • Action No. 1: we perform similar operations with the file as in the first case (add it to the workspace).
  • Action #2: go to the tools menu and select “Rectangle”. Use it to select the fragment you want to leave.
  • Action #3: go to context menu"Image". The topmost command should be “Crop to Selection.” By clicking on this command, you only have the image that was selected. Also, after selection, you can crop the image using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+X. If you don’t like the result of the operation, press the “Cancel” key or Ctrl+Z.

How to mirror an image inPaint?

After you have carried out an operation similar to the first two sections with the file, you should go to the “Layers” menu. Here you will see a command such as “Add New Layer”, select it. This can also be done using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N. You have a new one transparent layer in the image. Next you just need to make some adjustments. The “Flip Horizontal” or “Flip Vertical” command, which are also located in the “Layers” menu, will help you mirror the active layer, both horizontally and vertically. Ready!

Conclusion

In general, performing operations in Paint is not difficult. However, there are certain nuances. We hope this article helps you.
