General information about using STDU Viewer
After installation, the main window of the STDU Viewer program will open.
You can enter the program settings from the “File” => “Program Settings...” menu. In the settings, if necessary, you can change the default program settings.
To control the program, you can use the buttons on the toolbar or use commands from the program menu.
On the left is the navigation bar. From the area below the navigation bar, you can switch between different panels - Contents, Bookmarks, Thumbnails, Search, Highlights. The sidebar can be removed by clicking on the button located in the lower left corner of the program window.
At the very bottom of the program window, in the middle, there is page navigation. Further to the right, there are buttons for switching the viewing mode of a book or document.
When you switch between panels, the contents of the navigation bar change. Here you can find a table of contents of the document, thumbnails of page images, advanced search, and bookmarks you have made.
At the top, below the toolbar, above the area in which the open document is located, there is a panel for tabs of open documents. On the right side of the panel there is a “Quick search...” field.
When using the STDU Viewer program, you can add several documents of various formats to the program window at once. To view them, you just need to switch between tabs.
For easy viewing, tabs can be highlighted in color. To do this, follow this path - menu “File” => “Program Settings...” => “Settings” => “Tab View”, and then select the desired display of the tab view.
A document opened in the STDU Viewer program can be rotated, scaled, opened several pages at once, in short, you can perform all the necessary actions with it.
The entire document or its individual pages can be sent for printing. STDU Viewer allows you to save pages or entire text as an image or a TXT file.
Bookmarking a page
To add a page to bookmarks in the STDU Viewer program, you need to right-click on the page you are currently viewing. After this, the “Add Bookmark” window will open, in which you will need to click on the “OK” button.
If a bookmark was made specifically to mark information that is important to you, then the name of the bookmark can be changed so that you understand exactly what this bookmark is for.
How to save PDF to TXT
First you need to open the PDF file through the “File” => “Open…” menu, or click on the “Open” button on the toolbar. Next, in the Explorer window that opens, you need to select required file, and then click on the “Open” button.
After this, the PDF file will be opened in the STDU Viewer window.
After this, the “Export text” window will open, in which you need to select export options. First you will need to select the exported pages - all, the current one, or make a selection by specific page numbers. Then you need to select a location to save the file, and then click on the “OK” button.
Selected pages or all text from a PDF document will be exported to TXT format.
In exactly the same way, you can save files in DjVu formats (if there is a text layer) in TXT, FB2 in TXT, ePub in TXT, MOBI in TXT, AZW in TXT.
How to convert DjVu to graphic format
To do this, you first need to open the file in DjVu format in the STDU Viewer program, and then enter the “File” => “Open...” menu. In the Explorer window, select a file in the DjVu format, and then click on the “Open” button.
Then again you need to enter the “File” menu, and in context menu select “Export” => “as image...”.
Next, the “Export image” window will open, in which you need to select the desired settings. You can select the file type - JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG - into which the conversion will be made, as well as its resolution. After selecting the pages to export and the location to save the image, click on the “OK” button.
Copy to STDU Viewer
When using STDU Viewer, you can copy text or an image on the document page you are viewing.
To copy text, you will need to click on the “Select Text” button on the toolbar. Next, select the text and then right-click in the program window. In the context menu, you will need to select the option to save text.
By simply copying, the selected text can be pasted into the window of another program - text editor, save this text in TXT format, or send the selected text by email.

However, reading text files (for example, some books are still presented only in this form) is much more convenient in our program.

When you work with files in Explorer or some other file manager, then each file is displayed with a thumbnail corresponding to its type (for example, documents on the desktop). Which thumbnail to use is determined by the settings of this type file in operating system. If you check the box "Use one icon...", then all documents associated with the viewer will have the same mini-image (this is a plus, from the point of view that most often it is not so important what specific format the document is in, what is important is that it will be opened by our wonderful program), if the checkbox reset, then each type of document will have its own mini-image, this will allow you to quickly distinguish books in pdf format from books to mobi, etc.
List of recently opened files
If you have already opened documents, take a look at "File" main menu, or click on the arrow next to the button "Open" in the toolbar, and you will see a list of the files you opened most recently. This is very convenient if you often access the same documents, because you don’t have to go through several windows each time and look for a file on the disk; you just need to select the item corresponding to this document in the menu.
Option "Remember the list of..." gives you the ability to configure how many files the viewer should remember and then show in the menu.
Tabs
The viewer has a modern multi-document interface with tabs, the same as, for example, and many other programs whose operation requires the simultaneous opening of a large number of documents. For each open file, a tab is created in the program window, which, if there are several open files, facilitates access to a specific document.
In the group of settings we are considering now, there are several related to working with tabs. Let's look at each option in more detail.
If only one document is open, then a panel with a single tab is completely useless, and rather even harmful, because it takes up space on the screen and reduces the document display area. To prevent the tab from being displayed in this case, you can check the box "Don't show tabs if only one document is open"
The following flag allows you to determine whether the tab bar should be placed at the top or bottom of the open document. By default, the panel is on top, if you want to change this situation, check the box "Show tabs below".
The last checkbox is self-explanatory; with it you can determine whether you want the document to be closed when you double-click the left mouse button on a document tab.
Checking for new versions

Some people want the entire first page to be visible when opening (scale - fit to page), and for others, so that the document pages fit the width of the screen. You can determine what scale the viewer should set.
This setting only affects documents that you have not yet opened. If you open a document that you have already worked with, then the scale that you set for of this document before it closes.
View mode for a document opened for the first time
Likewise previous point, for a document that is being opened for the first time, you can determine not only the scale, but also the viewing mode. For example, if you have a widescreen monitor, it may be more convenient for you to have the document displayed U-turns, i.e. two pages at a time.
This setting also only applies to documents that you have not yet opened. If you open a document that you have already worked with, the viewing mode that you set for this document before closing it will be restored.
