Sony Tablet P video review
Weight/dimensions, very convenient to use.
So far the new one is great. But this is not more than 1-2 months.
Nimble, thin, lightweight, splash-proof
Of the virtues: 1) cool tablet design 2) even withstood heavy loads operatives, it works quietly even with many open programs 3) a convenient screen for reading
3 years ago
Most lightweight tablet in the world. Thin, bright. The performance is quite high, it all depends on the clutter of the internal drive. Holds a charge for a very long time even with active use. Waterproof claimed. Very good quality cameras for photographing documents and other texts (alas, only for this).

Large battery capacity. Nimble processor. Appearance

Slim, handy waterproof nimble large battery
3 years ago
Lightweight (significantly lighter than z1), nimble (a lot of memory, not a weak stone), LTE, regular OS updates from Sonya, it can, unlike z1, vibrate and has a module for calls, and not just for SMS.

Sound, fast processor.

Stylish, thin, fast. I've been using it since 2014, not a single problem, except for the "worn out" in the center of the screen. Excellent color reproduction
The sensor - it's terrible, on the ipad - works more clearly and adequately. Performance - the main problem in excess software, at the office. 6.0.1 lags are noticeable. The case - it seems like the thickness is a plus, but there is 1 tablet that has become a little crooked over time. On the 2nd it is not noticeable. The camera quality is extremely poor. The location of the connectors - it is inconvenient to charge and simultaneously use the tablet in the headset.
Within 2-3-4 months, serious problems and production defects begin to emerge: 1. A "starry sky" appears on the screen. 2. Irregular illumination and incomprehensible "color shift", it seems that color stains appeared on the screen. 3. The tightness completely disappears due to the wear of the plugs (if you use them at least sometimes) 4. It is very easy to crush the display. No additional "super protective glasses" help. They bend with the display and everything breaks inside the tablet, not outside. Covers and other pribludy also do not save. 5. Absolutely inadequate attitude of authorized service centers. Even with an official warranty, warranty repairs will be denied under any pretext in 9 cases out of 10.
sensor, matrix
Well, now there are a huge number of minuses ... 1) after a couple of months of use, the starry sky appeared 2) after a few months a yellow frame appeared around the edges for both of the above reasons, Sony kicked off in a request to replace the display 3) after 2 years of use, the power circuit flew off. And this is where the fun begins. To get to the insides of the tablet, engineers need to climb through the display and in all SCs (primarily in the official ones) they immediately warn that if the display bursts during dismantling, they have nothing to do with it and successful removal of the display occurs in 15/20 cases, but what if you are "lucky", then the repair will cost you about another n + 5k
3 years ago
Screen. It seems that most owners have the same problem with starry skies and yellow spots around the edges, and I am no exception. And the screen is afraid of wet fingers! If your hands are wet and you leave drops of water on the screen, then the tablet will react to these drops, and not to your fingers. Camera. Unfortunately the camera leaves much to be desired. She is unable to capture nice photos with faces, architecture, etc. All photos will remain blurry. But on the other hand, this camera photographs documents very decently, here I cannot complain about it. System. Perhaps this is somehow related to the Android OC itself, but for a long time I could not transfer applications to the SD card. Moreover, with each update, the system takes up more and more memory of the internal drive, which really gives one more

Marriage. After several months, beige spots and a "starry sky" appeared on the screen. Return only through the court, since Sony's management quickly removed these problems from the guarantee.
Camera. Although, in principle, it is now the same everywhere. Prints are visible There is a fairly well-known bug - "starry sky", namely small green dots on the screen that are visible only in low ambient light or in complete darkness and only on a dark / black background. The jamb of the matrix or dust has got there - it is not clear, so after the purchase, examine the screen very carefully!

Bolshevat, in the subway, the hand gets tired to hold. Very fragile, two tablets were crushed, screen repair costs as good as new
In Moscow, almost at every step you can find an advertisement for this curious tablet. Let's see what the Sony Xperia Tablet Z can do, what are the pros and cons. Some of the information in the review is taken from a first glance, mainly it concerns design, characteristics - everything remains relevant now.
It was great to see the same design on the new tablet. Yes, imagine an Xperia Z proportionally enlarged several times. The same design from the "nothing superfluous and nothing sticking out" series. Same materials, only rear end with a pleasant velvety finish, fingerprints are visible on black, but nothing is visible on matte white. By the way, these prints are very difficult to remove, the photo shows that I tried, but nothing happened. As far as I understand, while there are more black tablets on sale, I recommend that neat people wait for the white version.
Dimensions are 172 x 266 x 6.9 mm, weight 495 grams. A little harder than iPad mini, but the diagonal of the display is much larger. When this “tile” lies on the table, you cannot lift it with one hand, you need to pick it up from both sides. It is interesting that here they used and special solution to activate the device, you can tap on the display to activate it - without pressing any buttons. This feature is not new, but the tablet will certainly be in demand. Can be disabled or enabled in the display settings. Apart from black and white, there are no other colors. The assembly is excellent, stylistically everything here is similar to the Xperia Z - the design of the speakers, ends, plugs. There are three plugs, they cover the microUSB (MHL) connectors, slots for SIM-card and memory card, 3.5 mm jack. There are also contacts for the docking station on the end, such an accessory is already available.
As you already understood, stubs are needed here for a reason. The tablet can withstand immersion in water to a depth of one and a half meters for half an hour. In Japan, they like to cook and hang out in the bath, obviously this is a gift for residents of Tokyo and other big cities. But it is also true for us. Watch a movie while lying in the bath? Scrolling through a recipe in the kitchen with greasy fingers? Then wash the tablet in the sink along with the dishes? On the beach under an umbrella to read a book and the Internet, not being afraid of wet sand and high tide? All this is possible.
In general, I really like the design and the security feature. And to get that experience with an iPad, you'll need a special case. And here no covers are needed. And the design, it seems to me, Sony turned out to be very good - we should continue this topic and make a tablet smaller. All the same, Xperia Tablet Z turned out to be healthy. He needs a big bag. You can also carry it in your hands.
In any case, the thing turned out to be solidly built, stylish looking and very different from all other Android tablets. I want to say sincere thanks to Sony from all fans of "sonystyle" - the company is coming out of hibernation. And it's very good that no trace of past devices is visible in the Tablet Z.
There are also disadvantages, you don’t have to open the plugs, but pick them out, if you have short nails, you will have to use some kind of paper clip or something like that.
The package is meager, a power supply and a USB cable, it's a pity that there is no stereo headset in the kit - the same as in the box with Z or ZL. I would also recommend immediately finding a case for the tablet that can turn into a stand. For example, this branded SGP-CV5, made of leather, costs 3,590 rubles. It is a pity that there is no analogue of polyurethane or something like that.
The SGP-DS5 stand is already on sale, it costs 1,690 rubles. With it, the tablet can act as a kind of photo frame.
Display
The Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA). Good black color, the Xperia Z display may seem faded (depending on the lighting, brightness and how the viewing angle is chosen), I did not notice this fade here. Not Retina, but overall the display is quite good. And there are no those unnatural colors that we can observe on Galaxy screens. Thanks to the aspect ratio, the tablet is very well suited for watching movies, for almost the entire time of the test I just watched everything in the evenings or sitting in a cafe in between meetings. After all, that's what tablets are for! In the sun, the image on the screen can be difficult to distinguish - the top Sony smartphones this situation is much better. And yet, the screen is covered by two films, one for transportation, the second protects the screen, you should not remove it. Most likely, the Sony inscription above the display will peel off at the same time.
Please note on the left upper corner The display has slots for shortcuts to frequently used programs, in total you can put four shortcuts there, it's convenient.
Performance
Inside, the device is very similar to the Sony Xperia Z. Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) is already installed here, you can read about the capabilities of this version in a separate review.
The main thing is that now you can leave only one desktop, put all the necessary icons there and make the second one only if there is not enough space. Now let's talk about the different features. For example, the proprietary widget "Clock" allows you to select a binary clock, for those who like to rack their brains during the day. Very beautiful new themes, but the ringtones have not changed much. As always, Sony has a lot of its own icons, but I liked the lock screen most of all, sort of shutters, you can move your finger endlessly, the process is mesmerizing. Not only that, on this screen you can quickly go to the player or to the camera. There is a radio, but about the rest of the points I will write in more detail in the review.
Quad-core processor 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 + MDM9215M Quad Core is used, Adreno 320, 2 GB is responsible for the graphics random access memory. It is not clear where to direct all this power, what applications are needed to unleash the full potential of such powerful stuffing. In life, the device is quite fast, you can work with any applications, any modern games.
Interestingly, frequently used applications can be installed at the top of the display, there seem to be four in total. While configuring widgets Xperia app Home constantly stops, you need to have time to change the wallpaper or select the desired widget (hangs after about a minute). They say that Home does not fall out, you need to remove all the pre-installed Yandex applications. Maybe it will help.
There is a radio, the player is made in its own way, OGG and FLAC are supported, in addition to the usual formats, there is also WAV support. If anyone buys music on Beatport, you can immediately listen to it. By the way, AVI is supported for video, the tablet opened the downloaded file without problems (and MKV is also supported, but I have not tried it). On the screen in standby mode at the bottom there are icons for calling the infrared application (for controlling home appliances), Sony mini-applications, here you can call the browser, its reduced version, in a separate window. Another file manager, notes, voice recorder, calculator, timer. A sort of analogue of Multi Window Samsung, only here a small window can be moved on top of other windows. In my opinion, it makes little sense. Among installed programs there is Steam, you can rent movies, Yandex applications, branded Sociallife, Wisepilot for Xperia, TrackID, to view OfficeSuite documents. In general, the set is typical, if you wish, you can remove half of the basic programs, they are stupid.
Sound
The tablet has two speakers, they are quite loud - you can easily watch a movie without headphones. In the settings there are special effects just for external speakers, it seems to me that this is pampering. Compared to the iPad, the sound is even slightly louder.
Working hours
Here, too, there is something interesting. Everyone has long been accustomed to the fact that in tablets on Android based often used their own power supplies. This is confusing. For example, to charge an iPhone 5 and an iPad, I need one cable. And to charge samsung galaxy SIII and most Tab are two different things. Although Samsung has now also come to their senses, in the same Galaxy Note 8.0 familiar connector. In general, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has microUSB installed, you can charge it from the connector on the laptop, you can use the power supply.
Battery capacity 6000 mAh, the claimed operating time is 10 hours when watching a video, 8 hours when browsing the web with using Wi-Fi. Claimed charging time 6.5 (hours) - six and a half hours. I recommend using the included iPad power supply (not iPad mini). As for the video - I don’t know how I got such data, I managed to watch only two films using Ivi, after which the tablet turned off. I think if you watch movies loaded into memory, the results will be slightly better, but, in general, it is far from the iPad.
Like the Sony Xperia smartphones, there is a Stamina mode, when the display turns off, all connections are turned off - although, from experience, I can say that Facebook may not stop climbing the network. In any case, I highly recommend using Stamina, a useful thing.
I would like to note that the tablet keeps the battery perfectly while it is idle, in this the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is very similar to Apple laptops. That is, it will not suddenly be discharged to zero, just after lying down for a couple of days without work.
Modifications
On this moment three modifications are sold in Russia, these are SGP321RU (16 GB, Wi-Fi + 4G) for 25,990 rubles, SGP312RU (32 GB, Wi-Fi) for 23,990 rubles, SGP311RU (16 GB, Wi-Fi) for 21,990 rubles . There are no top versions yet, the prices seem quite reasonable until you start comparing with the iPad. Of course, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has its advantages, but any sane consumer, looking at the prices on the network, will immediately find a fourth-generation iPad, Wi-Fi + 4G with 32 GB of memory for 23,000 rubles (cited a very average price). And this is a completely different story.
By the way, microSIM cards are used - keep that in mind.
cameras
On the back is an 8.1 MP camera lens, an Exmor R sensor is used, video recording (HD) is supported, HDR mode, of course, there is autofocus. On the front is a 2 MP camera. The device takes pictures quite well (for a tablet), you can quickly launch the camera from the lock screen, the pictures are saved very quickly. There are various effects, the default resolution is 5 MP, I recommend changing it.
Wireless interfaces
Everything here is quite traditional, but there is also something interesting. There is Bluetooth, profile 4.0, there is Wi-Fi, there is support for LTE, the specifications indicate that voice transmission is not supported. Although, it will be possible to try to install a SIM card, put some kind of “dialer”, and suddenly the tablet will work like a phone. After all, there are two microphones on the body. Or you can connect a headset. Apparently, the tablet will work in our LTE networks, this is typical for modern Xperia, I hope that the tablet will not be an exception. By the way, microSIM is used here. There is NFC, DLNA, and infrared port on the upper end, a special application is installed to launch - it will be possible to control all home appliances. See our video for details.
Memory
Two versions, 16 and 32 GB of memory in the device, but there is a card slot microSD memory. I think you can safely take the 16 GB version and add your card here. Despite what is stated in the official documents, the tablet perfectly sees 64 GB cards, if you suddenly have problems, just format with help from Sony Xperia Tablet Z. By the way, this is typical for all the latest Sony gadgets - the site states that only cards up to 32 GB are supported, in fact, this is not true.
They brought me a version with 16 GB for the test, in fact about 11 GB is available, this is typical for Android, there is no need to be afraid.
conclusions
The tablet turned out the same as many of the latest top Sony devices. On the one hand, a chic design, water protection, a good display, everything is not bad with performance. There are other positive features, such as microUSB for charging, infrared port, memory card slot, support for LTE - many of those who have tried this feature do not want to give it up, and are looking for other devices with 4G. There is also a good camera, the sound in the headphones is not bad (it depends heavily on the headphones). Nice soft features, but this is unlikely to surprise anyone. You can take good pictures with the camera.
Cons - a strange power supply included, the charging time is more than six hours, this is too much. The battery life leaves much to be desired, but this is typical for all Android devices. It is not clear what will happen to the plugs during active use, they can become loose. It would be possible to immediately add a headset to the kit and not follow the example of Apple. The case of the black tablet is very quickly covered with fingerprints, if you plan to use the Z to watch movies, I recommend buying a stand case. And it, too, could well be added to the kit. The flaws in the software are also angry, because of the Yandex programs, the desktop closes during setup, they will probably fix the problem in the update. It is not clear how the firmware was tested, how this was missed.
Other than that, this is Sony's best tablet. After the strange S and P (the company tends to just forget about them), the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, despite the shortcomings, leaves the impression of a well-thought-out and high-quality thing - no, for me the device will not replace the iPad, but I used it with pleasure. I think when the price drops, the device will become even more attractive. And certainly it will be bought much more actively than tablets of past generations. I recommend if you are ready to close your eyes to the cons.

Sony has been renowned for its high-tech and reliable electronics for many years. By purchasing equipment from a Japanese corporation, you choose design, quality and many additional options. The novelties of the year inspire users to new achievements and discoveries, which fully confirms the company's motto. Sony is the creator of a certain technological culture, which is inspired by the emotions of fans of innovation and progress. In 1990, the corporation became famous for producing two new products a day, given the constant desire to minimize, this was a real sensation. At its core, the media conglomerate that is Sony cannot produce ordinary devices.
Today, it is difficult to find a store where one could buy cheap products from a Japanese manufacturer. In our online store we constantly offer cheap tablet computers Sony with free delivery in Moscow. Compared to market prices, the cost of tablets in our store is much lower. This fact is due to the absence of intermediaries between us and the official representative offices of Sony Corporation.
