Tools used

Remove the battery. Unscrew the two screws securing the memory module cover and remove the cover.

After removing the cover located on the bottom panel, you can easily remove both memory modules. Slide apart the plastic latches located on both sides of the slot to remove the memory module from the connector, installed at an angle of 30 degrees. Then carefully remove the memory module from the slot.

Now let's remove the keyboard. The keyboard is secured with 4 latches on the top panel.

Press down on the latch with a sharp object and at the same time lift the keyboard slightly. Repeat this operation with other latches.

Once all 4 latches are opened, you can lift the keyboard.

Lift the keyboard carefully, the keyboard cable is connected to the motherboard. To remove the keyboard, you need to open the connector latch and remove the cable from it.

To open the connector latch, slide the cinnamon tab approximately 2-3mm towards the display. The cinnamon tongue should remain on the white base. The following photo shows the connector with the latch closed.

After opening the connector latch, you can remove the cable from it and remove the keyboard.

The label shows the keyboard part numbers. I don't know which one is the official Asus SKU, but you can find the data on Google. Most likely, one of the numbers will correspond to the keyboard you need.

Remove all screws that secure top cover. Disconnect the touchpad cable.

The touch keyboard connector latch opens in the same way as the keyboard connector latch.

Start removing the top cover from the base of the netbook. You can use a piece of soft plastic to open the latches. For example, a guitar pick.

Remove the top cover.

Now you can remove HDD, cooling fan and CMOS memory battery.

Remove the four screws securing the hard drive. Slide the hard drive to the right to remove it from motherboard. Lift and remove the hard drive from the netbook case. As you can see, this is a regular 2.5-inch SATA hard drive for laptops.

To remove the cooling fan, remove the two screws securing the fan. Then disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard. The fan can now be removed and replaced.

Reassemble in reverse order.

Detailed description how to disassemble and repair a laptop at home. As an example, it shows how to replace cracked hinges on a laptop.

General information about disassembling laptops

In this article I will try to show how to disassemble and reassemble a laptop, I will dwell in detail on the important nuances that will help you do everything correctly. This manual complements other repair material: .

Important Note: Disassembling and repairing a laptop is quite a complex operation. If you are not confident in your abilities, then it is better to entrust the work service center. The author is not responsible for any consequences of your actions.

I was prompted to write this article by the need to replace the right hinge in the Asus N61Vn laptop:

Unpleasant situation. I had to order new hinges on eBay. A couple of weeks of waiting and new hinges are on my table:

To replace them, you need to disassemble almost the entire laptop. Let's get started.

Laptop disassembly and repair

First of all, you need to make some small preparations. For disassembly we will need a set of screwdrivers:

The fact is that you can find a variety of bolts in a laptop. To avoid damaging them when unscrewing, you need to use an appropriate screwdriver.

It is also highly advisable to use an antistatic wrist strap and mat. In some cases, static electricity can damage laptop electronics. Before disassembling, it is advisable to remove excess electrostatic charge from yourself by touching a grounded battery or pipeline.

I'll tell you briefly about what we have to do. To access hinges and other internal components system, you must first disassemble the base of the laptop. It most often consists of two halves, which are fastened with bolts on the bottom and sometimes under the keyboard. Also, these two halves are fastened along the perimeter with numerous latches. We have to carefully separate these halves.

Important Note: Since different components of the laptop use different bolts (at least 2-3 types), before disassembling, remember where each bolt is used. This will simplify the subsequent assembly of the laptop.

Now you can move on to your laptop. Be sure to disconnect the laptop from the power supply and remove the battery:

Remove the bottom cover and drive. They are usually held on by bolts. Drives in most cases have a similar fastening system: they are held on by one or more bolts. One is located approximately 20 cm from the center of the disc tray. It can be accessible both from the bottom and from the keyboard. In this case, in addition to it, there is another bolt that holds the drive:

We unscrew both and pull out the drive itself:

Hard drives in laptops are most often placed in frames or other mounts:

To remove it, you first need to unscrew the bolts, and then move the basket with the hard drive to the side and lift it up.

When disassembling a laptop, it is worth considering that in addition to bolts, panels, hatches and other parts can be held in place by the following latches:

You need to be careful with them. In some cases you need to gently pull the panel up, and in others you need to move it a little. To replace the hinges, you need to completely disassemble the entire laptop and disassemble the bottom. Unscrew all the bolts on the bottom and remove the cooling system:

Now carefully turn the laptop over and remove the keyboard. In many modern laptops it is held on by latches at the top:

These latches are pressed into the case and at the same time we lift the keyboard:

When removing the keyboard, you need to disconnect its cable. There are two main mechanisms for attaching cables: using a frame that protrudes from the connector and which folds up. In this case, to remove the keyboard, use a screwdriver to carefully move the frame away from the connector to the side:

In the same way, you need to pull the cable higher. But to turn off the touchpad cable, you need to turn the frame up:

I specifically emphasize this because often not knowing how to open the connectors leads to damage to the frames, the connectors themselves, and the cables. They are difficult to repair.

Let's continue. Now you need to unscrew the bolts under the keyboard. They hold the halves of the laptop base together. When all the bolts are unscrewed, carefully separate the halves of the base:

At this stage, it is important to do everything carefully so as not to damage the latches. After a little disassembly we will finally have access to the hinges. Here's the left one:

And here is the broken right one:

We unscrew them and release the roof with the matrix:

Now let's disassemble the lid itself. It usually consists of two halves. They are held on by bolts and latches. The bolts are usually located under the linings:

We remove them and unscrew the bolts:

After this, we finally get access to the broken loop of the matrix:

We change it to a new one:

Please note an interesting detail. There is a small nut on the hinge:

It serves to adjust the tightness of the loop. If you unscrew it a little, the lid will open easier, if you tighten it, it will be more difficult. You can adjust the hinges if desired.

Assembling the cover together with the linings:

Now let’s assemble the entire laptop. Pay special attention to the trains. Before installing the cooling system, do not forget to remove the old thermal paste and apply new one:

This does not apply to thermally conductive pads. There is no need to change them.

A few minutes later the laptop is assembled and working. The hinge has been replaced:

That's all. Thank you for your attention!

A guide to reducing the noise level from a laptop, netbook, computer and other similar devices. The manual also describes how you can extend their service life.

  • Solving sound problems

Detailed description Get rid of sound slowdown, various extraneous clicks, wheezing or jamming when playing music or video.

  • Laptop cooling

If your laptop just turns off, freezes, or just sometimes lags in games, then this article is for you. This article describes how to determine whether a laptop is overheating, as well as how to deal with overheating.

  • Overheat- one of the three most common “ordinary” problems of all laptops. It occurs due to the fact that the cooling system of the laptop becomes clogged with dust over time, preventing hot air from escaping from the case.

If your laptop, some time after turning it on, begins to get very hot, make noise, slow down, or even turn off abruptly - all these are signs that you urgently need to clean your laptop from dust and change thermal paste.

You can contact a computer service, or you can try preventive measures on one's own.

All you need for this is a couple of simple, available tools, and a certain amount of accuracy and attentiveness. Well, some kind of algorithm for disassembling a laptop, which I will explain to you in this article on my computer blog.

Overheating begins to appear after 1-5 years of using a laptop, depending on the model and conditions of use. But, sooner or later, it will come, because over time, a layer of cosmic dust slowly but surely accumulates on the laptop fan.

I'll try to make my own subjective TOP Hottest laptop models:

    1. HP, especially models Dv6,G7
    2. ASUS
    3. ACER
    4. SONY
    5. LENOVO
    6. SAMSUNG
    7. DELL
    8. TOSHIBA

I have already written an article about that, as well as how fast and free.

We will assume that you have already An overheating problem was diagnosed. That is, they did a temperature test and found out that under load the temperature of the processor and video card of your laptop rises to 90 degrees or more.

But this was all theory and diagnostics. Now we will get down to practice and actual repairs - disassembling and cleaning the laptop from dust with your own hands.

Disassembling a laptop- not such a simple task as it might seem at first glance to a person who has never “opened” his laptop.

If in most system units, to access the “internals” you need to unscrew 2 screws and slide the lid, then in laptops everything is much more complicated.

There are many laptop manufacturers, each with hundreds of different models, and they are all understood differently. Somewhere you just need to remove the bottom cover. For example, this is exactly the case with . And somewhere, in order to get to the motherboard and remove the cooling system for cleaning and replacing thermal paste, you need to completely disassemble the laptop case, “down to the bolt.”

But general algorithm for disassembling a laptop, as a rule, is always the same. In short, you need to unscrew all the screws, disconnect all the cables, connectors, and open all the latches.

How to independently disassemble any laptop and clean it from dust - universal instructions.

Below I have drawn a laptop device with all the details indicated, so that it would be easier for you to navigate when reading this article.

    1. Disconnect the battery

First of all, always disconnect the battery. Disassembling a laptop under voltage can ruin your laptop by accidentally dropping a bolt onto the motherboard. Therefore, the first thing we do is take it out.

On some laptops, the battery is located inside the case, such as. Before turning it off, be doubly careful not to short-circuit anything.

    2. Unscrew all visible bolts on the bottom.

Pay attention to their length and thickness. If they are the same, you don’t have to worry. If some come across longer/shorter, we remember/sketch where they were twisted.

    3. Remove all the caps on the bottom, and unscrew all the bolts under them

Remove all the small covers on the bottom of the laptop (RAM, hard drive), unscrew all the screws, put them in the next pile. Disconnect all connectors, if any.

You may not have such caps; the bottom of the body may be solid. Don't be alarmed - go to step 5.

    4. Disconnect the Wi-Fi module, hard drive, RAM, DVD.

To disable the Wi-Fi module, first remove the 2 antennas from it by pulling them perpendicular to the module. Remember where it was. Then unscrew the bolt securing it and pull the module out of the slot.

Having unscrewed the hard drive, we look at how it is connected. You can remove it by either moving it away from the connector, or by disconnecting the flexible wiring by pulling it.

As a rule, it is not necessary to remove RAM. But you can remove it and clean its contacts with an eraser.

At this stage, most often you can remove the DVD-ROM by slowly pulling on it.

The removable keyboard is easy to distinguish - it looks like a “block” keyboard, i.e. does not form one whole with the rest of the body.

If you have made sure that your keyboard is built into top part laptop case (Sony, ASUS 500 series) - go to step 8.

    6. If the keyboard is removable, remove it.

Don't forget that there is a connection from the keyboard to the laptop motherboard. plume, so after removing it, do not rush to pull it, but first lift and disconnect this cable.

More often for removing the keyboard you need to carefully pry it off with a pick or spatula, and open all the latches around the perimeter.

It happens that before this you need to first remove panel above or under the keyboard.

On some laptops, another unpleasant surprise may await you - an additional keyboard held on by glue. In this case, carefully pry it up with a ruler/spatula/screwdriver, and, gradually lifting it, peel it off.

    7. Unscrew all visible bolts under the keyboard, remove all cables and connectors

There are several main types of loops. They all unfasten differently. Some rise, some lift, some stretch.

I will try to systematize them in one of the following articles on the site.

Sometimes at this point you will need to pull long wires from the wi-fi adapter through the case.

    8. Carefully “open” the laptop from the side around the perimeter and remove the top cover

For me, the most convenient way to do this is to use a guitar pick, preferably thicker - 0.8-1 mm.

    Also, sometimes a spatula helps:

Having walked around the perimeter with a pick and unclipped all the latches, we carefully try to lift the lid. If it doesn’t work, check again that all the screws are unscrewed. If it still doesn’t work, check it again.

No need to use force! And an unscrewed screw often turns out to be imperceptibly recessed into the case, or hidden under a rubber stand at the bottom of the laptop.

The motherboard can be attached either to the bottom of the laptop case (most often) or to the top (this is what they do Sony Vaio). Be careful and take your time.

    9. Unscrew the remaining screws and disconnect the connectors, remove the motherboard

We look at which cables go to the motherboard and pull them all out.

Sometimes, in order to remove the motherboard, you have to completely unscrew and remove the top part of the laptop with the screen.

    10. Remove the cooling system from the board

The screws on the radiator are usually marked with numbers - we unscrew and tighten them in the order of these numbers, so as not to accidentally damage the chip by misalignment.

We work very carefully here - a screwdriver can easily slip and knock down some element on the motherboard.

Having unscrewed all the bolts, carefully pry up the cooling system; if it doesn’t work, you can turn it a little in its plane. We try not to tear the thermal rubber bands, if any.

    11. Disassemble and clean the laptop fan from dust

Actually this is the most important stage laptop disassembly. Right now, in fact, “cleaning the laptop from dust” will take place.

Usually, to disassemble the cooling system, you need to unscrew several small screws on it, and tear off a piece of fabric/adhesive tape, “turning” the fan outward.

We see dust accumulated on the radiator grille - remove it with a brush and blow it out. Congratulations! The laptop has been cleaned) But that's not all.

    12. Remove the old one and apply new thermal paste

We remove the old thermal paste from the places where it was, on the chips on the motherboard, and on the cooling system. You can remove thermal paste with a dry cloth and cotton swabs. If you have them, you can soak them in alcohol and take them internally at the same time :)

Often, instead of thermal paste, you can see thermal pads. It is very desirable if they remain intact - it is quite difficult to find them on sale, only to order. If this rubber band is severely torn, most likely it is already “non-working”, you will have to look for it and change it. Or spread a layer of thermal paste. But I don't recommend doing this. Change it! Usually thermal pads are placed on elements that do not have a temperature sensor and protection against overheating, and your laptop may suddenly “die”, while showing normal temperatures on the processor and video card.

Apply new thermal paste. How to smear? As thin a layer as possible. Thermal paste is needed not to cover the entire surface of the chip, but to smooth out surface irregularities.

I will write a short review about various thermal pastes in one of the following articles on the site.

And in this video On my YouTube channel you can see how to apply thermal paste using the Pavillion G6 laptop as an example.

    13. Reassemble in reverse order.

We assemble it in the same way as we disassembled it, carefully checking at each stage that all connectors are in their sockets. In theory, there should be no “extra, empty” ones (but there may be some).

It is advisable that there are no extra bolts left, but if there are some left, don’t worry! 😉 The main thing is that the bolts in the hinge area are screwed in - otherwise the laptop will fall apart over time.

    14. We do a temperature test - rejoice! 🙂

Thermal paste needs some time to spread evenly under the pressure of the plate. So its maximum effectiveness is achieved after a couple of days of using the laptop.

Tips and tricks when disassembling a laptop yourself

    • Collect screws from each stage of disassembly in separate piles - this way you won’t be mistaken about which screw comes from, and you won’t have any left over.
    • Use the Internet - for almost every, or similar, laptop model there is detailed photos and video instructions for disassembly!
    • Don’t use force - if something “doesn’t work”, double-check 10 times to make sure you’ve unscrewed everything and turned it off. When in doubt, go online.
    • Be careful and careful, take your time.

    Results

So, from this article you learned how to disassemble and clean your laptop from dust yourself.

The first time it may be a little difficult, but the second time, I assure you, it will be much easier! After all, the neural connections in your brain will already be established. 😉

Good luck to all! Any questions left - ask! 😉

You can carry out simple laptop or netbook repairs yourself at home. It’s just that most users (even those who know how to disassemble the system unit of their home computer) are afraid to open a netbook (laptop).

More on the topic of proper computer maintenance

The reason for the fear of opening the casing of these compact devices is understandable. What if I damage or break something there?

Well then. Now your doubts will be cleared. You will clearly see the real story in pictures. minor repair of asus netbook(cleaning dust and lubricating the cooler, which began to make noise during operation).

The unprecedented abnormal heat of last summer caused a lot of trouble for computer equipment owners. She will probably be remembered by many of us :-(

Someone couldn’t stand it at this high temperature home computer, some have a laptop, while others probably had more serious problems, such as failure of various communication devices network equipment at the enterprise.

Here's a real educational story about netbook repair Shevtsova - how to open the case and disassemble acus netbook:

The summer heat didn’t spare me either, and in mid-August my faithfully served netbook ASUS eee pc 1101ha I began to whine strainedly with my only cooler, which stopped buzzing only after a tangible tapping of my finger on the body of the netbook.

But after a while he began to grunt noisily again. This did not affect the performance of the netbook, but, naturally, it caused certain inconvenience during operation, as a result of which, after almost a month, I finally decided to try to fix the problem with my own hands.

How to disassemble an asus laptop

    Guide to opening laptops and
ASUS netbooks using the eee pc as an example

Having not found a detailed answer on the Internet to the question of how to painlessly open my mobile friend, it was decided to find a description of the process of disassembling any of the ASUS laptops or netbooks, and having already studied it, proceed to opening the case of an ASUS eee pc netbook.

So, within half an hour, several articles on a similar topic were studied, after which a computer operating table was prepared:

As you can see in the photo, I have already removed eight screws from the back of the ASUS netbook and removed the protective cover of the RAM expansion slot.

What we have in the form of tools:

    Screwdriver "8 in 1"
    - Screwdriver with Oriflame tape measure
    - A set of master keys bought on the market for pennies
    - Short screwdriver from a simple set

In general, I always have all these instruments at hand, and the patient never needed some of them during our operation, and the other part, which is not in this photo, will be discussed below.

    How to disassemble a laptop

Applies to almost all netbook models (not just ASUS)

After the screws were removed, it was removed from the case. RAM and the battery, an attempt was made to remove the case itself.

An attempt to remove the housing was unsuccessful. It became clear that first you would have to remove the front part of the netbook, but before that the keyboard:

U netbooks and laptops, the keyboard is removable quite simple, you just need to press on top of a few “locks” along its perimeter.

There are four of them in total, and they are all located in its upper part:

The scuffs on the keyboard are actually just stickers with the usual letter layout. But in order to completely remove the keyboard, we will also need to disconnect the cable.

It is not held in the usual way, but on a special latch (for reliability), which does not allow it to move away from the connector. Clasp without extra effort moves away from both sides using one of the prepared master keys:

After this, the most interesting action awaits you - unscrew the last screw, protected by a sticker warning of loss of warranty if its integrity is violated, and try to remove the front side of the working surface of the netbook (the principle is similar for laptops):

This part of the netbook case is removed at the same time as if it were simple and at the same time rather complicated and responsible, since there is a risk of breaking the thin plastic.

In general, it’s difficult to advise anything other than taking the thinnest master key available, using it to find the gap between the back and front of the case, and gradually go around all the “locks”, prying them up one by one.

Gradually consolidating the achieved success by fixing the resulting gap with something suitable in size. In the end we get the long-awaited picture disassembled asus netbook case:

Locks are easy to find if you have done similar things at least once: in those places where it seems that the plastic is about to break, there is a “lock” :)

You can also use an old SIM card from a mobile phone. Somewhere on the corner you push it into the gap between the covers and with a slight movement of your hand you unlatch all the “locks” around the perimeter.

With simple manipulations, he is hooked, and the process continues. For example, here is one of them, right in the center:

Do not forget that here, as in the case of the keyboard, another cable awaits us, which this time comes from the touchpad (analogous to the mouse on laptops and netbooks - the square under the keys).

As you can see, small laptop or netbook repair at home turns out to be not such a difficult matter.

This cable is also attached in a special way, only this time the latch rises up, and does not move forward as before (here it is already raised):

And now we finally got to the cooler (fan), and at the same time to all the other removable parts of the netbook.

Removing this fan does not present any problem - you need to unscrew two screws and disconnect it from the motherboard, to which it is attached using a regular (without fasteners) connector:

And here is our hero of the occasion, because of whom we had to dismantle the whole netbook asus eee pc...after all, this particular cooler did not want to work quietly.

In principle, you can change the fan (cooler) of a netbook yourself without any problems. If you find exactly the same one in the store. But now we will bring the old one back to life.

And here it unexpectedly turns out that the cooler itself is packed in a certain case, which is closed with two “watch” bolts, which are in no way possible to unscrew with our tools.

We need to get to the fan. How to clean the cooler from dust and lubricate the fan in a laptop yourself look further.

An ordinary stationery knife comes to the rescue; with its help, the bolts are removed, and when opened, a small strip of foam rubber breaks along the line of the protective iron casing.

In the photo below you can see its tip peeking out in the right top corner pieces of iron, and the casing itself, which is attached to one of the sides of the plastic case, also bends:

In this photo, the cooler is already clean, and a brush for cleaning camera lens glass helped with this.

If you don’t have such a brush on hand, then you can build something like this from thick paper folded into several layers, cut into strips on one side.

The result will be something like an improvised brush, which will even be superior in properties to its analogue, since the process of cleaning a fan requires rather stiffer bristles than brushes for cleaning camera lenses.

How to lubricate a laptop cooler

It is better to remove the top part of the cooler before cleaning. It is attached by magnetic interaction and nothing else. However...

This, however, is enough for several minutes of confusion among those who do this for the first time, how to painlessly remove it to remove dirt and lubricate the mechanism itself.

Only the bushing on which the fan blades rotate needs to be lubricated. The photo clearly shows where it is subsequently inserted:

Now you know how to produce Asus cooler repair and how to lubricate correctly laptop cooler on your own at home.

Disassemble a laptop or netbook you can do this without any problems :)

The vast majority of not only laptops and netbooks from ASUS, but also other companies such as aser, samsung, lenovo, etc. are disassembled in this way.

In addition, some modern models of Lenovo netbooks and laptops have a special hole for pouring lubricating oil into the fan without disassembling its case.

Secrets and subtleties of working on a computer

    How to disassemble a netbook?

Simple equipment repairs can be done at home. Let's look at how to disassemble a netbook yourself for cleaning or repair. When preparing for work, you need to lay out the necessary tools on the table:

    • multifunctional screwdriver 8 in 1;
    • screwdriver with tape measure;
    • a simple short screwdriver.

Disassembling the device should begin by unscrewing the eight screws located at the back of the netbook, as well as removing the protective cover protecting the RAM slot.

    Opening the netbook case

After the above operations, you need to remove the battery from the case. Despite the fact that all visible screws have already been removed, it is still too early to remove the case. To detach it, you must first remove the front of the netbook, as well as its keyboard. On most devices, the keyboard can be removed very simply - you just need to carefully press several locks located around its perimeter. All of them are located in its upper part. After lifting the keyboard, you need to disconnect its cable, which is held on by a special latch. It is quite easy to remove it with a master key or a screwdriver.

After this, the user can only unscrew the remaining screw holding the front side work surface devices. Open the netbook case using a thin master key. It will help you deal with all the locks located between the two parts of the case. Finding the locks is very easy. Even if there is no convenient master key, they can be opened using old SIM card from the phone. It needs to be inserted into the gap closer to the corner and moved around the perimeter, snapping off the connections. As a result of correct operation, the user will be able to open the housing.

You won't be able to detach the top part right away. The touchpad of each laptop, like its keyboard, has a cable. This part is attached in a special way: the latch rises upward, and does not move forward, as is the case with the keyboard. After releasing the cable, you can safely remove the upper part of the case.

    Removing Removable Parts

Let's move on to removing the cooler, as well as other removable parts of the device. Removing the fan is fairly easy. To do this you should:

    • unscrew a few screws;
    • Find the appropriate connector and disconnect the cooler from the motherboard.

The cooler itself is in a kind of metal case, closed with two bolts. Great for eliminating them regular will do knife. When the casing is opened, a small strip of foam breaks.

To remove the motherboard, as well as communication ports, you should disconnect their cables, the fastenings of which open upward. Opening the clamps must be done carefully, since these parts are made of thin plastic. Here it is better to use a plastic card or other similar tool that allows you to lift the edge of each latch.

After performing these operations, you need to dismantle and remove the hard drive by unscrewing several bolts. Then you need to extract small but important details - WI-FI module, fastened with one bolt, and a WEB camera cable. Now nothing prevents the motherboard from being removed from the device case.

The last step is to disassemble the netbook cover, allowing you to remove the matrix and cable of the device. You can start this work with a sharp knife or scalpel. The disassembly process includes:

    • passing a scalpel around the perimeter of the screen in order to disconnect the latches;
    • removing the display frame;
    • disconnecting the cable;
    • dismantling the matrix.

Now you know how to disassemble a netbook at home, and you can do it yourself. Read also.
