Positioning

The segment of inexpensive smartphones is becoming more and more noticeable every year, but if until recently it seemed impossible to buy an official device with Android on board for less than 3,000-4,000 rubles, then after the model appeared on the market Megafon Login the situation changed dramatically. The company brought to Russia the simplest device possible Android based, invested serious money in advertising and sold the smartphone virtually at cost, making money from the sale of contracts that go towards the “load” of the device. Following MegaFon, two other operators presented similar models under their own brands big three– Beeline and MTS.

Today there are already a lot of smartphones in the category up to 3,000 rubles on the market, and although this is mostly similar offers from different brands, there is plenty to choose from. In this review, I want to talk about the Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4007D smartphone, its retail price is about 2,000 rubles, but in the Svyaznoy chain of stores this model is on sale for 990 rubles, so the result is a very interesting offer even on background of the updated Megafon Login 2.

The promotion is called “It’s hard to imagine such a price” and runs from May 1 to June 30. When purchasing an Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4007D smartphone in Svyaznoy stores, you can take along with it a SIM card from MTS with tariff plan « Super MTS» for 100 rubles (then it is converted to the “Smart” tariff) and deposit 900 rubles into your account. If this condition is met, the cost of the smartphone will not be 1,990 rubles, but 990. Accordingly, you will need to spend the same 1,990 rubles, but 950 of them end up in your account, on a new SIM card with the “Smart” tariff plan. This option is interesting for those who need the most inexpensive Android device and also need a new SIM card for mobile internet, For example. Now about the device itself.

Design, body materials

The device is available in three colors – black, white and dark blue. In all versions, the front side and part of the plastic around the perimeter are painted black, the only difference is the color of the battery cover. In the photo you see a smartphone in white. The plastic around the perimeter is matte, on the front side there is an insert made of glossy plastic. The battery cover is also glossy.

The Pixi 4007D looks simple and without pretensions, at the same time, there is nothing to complain about here - no decorative things, unnecessary elements or inserts. Universal design without pretensions.

Assembly, body wear

The build quality is high - the removable cover fits very tightly to the surface of the case, there are no large cracks or gaps between the structural elements, which is even surprising for a smartphone at this price. There are only two complaints - the glossy plastic quickly gets dirty and “collects” fingerprints and dust, and is also covered with the smallest scratches. So if the smartphone is used as an access point and carried somewhere in the depths of a backpack or bag, you should be prepared for rapid wear of the case.

Dimensions

The smartphone is small, fits perfectly in the hand, and you can hold and operate the device with one hand. Dimensions: 115 x 62.3 x 12.2 mm, weight – 118 grams.

Controls

On the front panel, under the screen, there are three touch keys - “Back”, “Home” and “Menu”. The buttons are not backlit, the touch area does not always accurately process presses; you need to press each key with force and at the marking point, otherwise the press may not be processed.

On the left edge there is a volume key, on the top end there is a power button and a 3.5 mm mini-jack. The speaking microphone hole is located under the touch keys block on the front panel.

Each time you touch a touch key, the device vibrates; vibration can be turned off in the smartphone settings.

Above the screen there is a speaker, an indicator light and a sensor for automatically adjusting the screen backlight level.

Slots for two SIM cards (miniSIM) and a memory card (microSD) are located under the battery.

The smartphone reads memory cards up to 32 GB, in addition, the device comes pre-installed file manager, so you can work with the contents of the card immediately by taking the device out of the box and turning it on.

Screen

IN Alcatel Pixi The 4007D has a capacitive TFT touch screen with a diagonal of 3.5” and a resolution of 320x480 pixels (HVGA). The display displays up to 262 thousand colors, has a good brightness reserve with the function of automatically adjusting the backlight level and mediocre viewing angles.

The protective surface above the screen is a layer of transparent plastic.

Camera

The smartphone has a camera with VGA resolution (0.3 MP), so there is no point in talking about the quality of the resulting images or settings. The camera is not suitable for anything, it is just there for show.

In the camera settings, you can set the image resolution to 2 MP, in this case the size is increased by interpolating the images, it looks like this:

VGA 2 MP

Autonomous operation

The capacity of the removable battery in the smartphone is 1300 mAh. The operating time declared by the manufacturer in 2G mode is up to 500 hours in standby mode and up to 13 hours in talk mode, in 3G - up to 300 hours in standby mode and up to 7 hours in talk mode.

In reality, a smartphone with two active SIM cards works in standby mode for more than a week without problems. If you use it occasionally for calls (a couple of times a day, as a second phone), the operating time is also calculated in days, on average it is 3-5 days, depending on activity.

Performance

The smartphone is built on the MTK 6575 platform with a single-core 1 GHz processor, equipped with 256 MB random access memory and about 100 MB of memory for storing user data. This volume is barely enough to install a couple of programs and toys, so if you plan to use the smartphone not only as a portable access point, you need to immediately buy a memory card for it.

The speed of the smartphone is far from good, especially when compared with top-end devices. But you can look at it from the other side. For a phone costing 1,000 rubles, the performance is more than adequate - there are no serious lags or delays when working with the interface, and pauses in the launch of programs for such a weak hardware are quite natural, but they can also be experienced.

Interfaces

The smartphone operates in GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and UMTS (900/2100) networks. Both high-speed data transfer standards are supported - EDGE and HSDPA. The first SIM card slot is intended for use as calls and for 2G/3G mobile Internet, the SIM card in the second one works only in the 2G band. To synchronize with a PC and transfer data, the included microUSB cable. USB interface 2.0.

Built-in module Bluetooth 4.0 (A2DP). Most common profiles are supported.

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n). In my sample, the Wi-Fi module worked flawlessly.

Wi-Fi router . The smartphone has a function of “sharing” 2G/3G Internet connection via Wi-Fi. In settings wireless networks select the “Modem mode” option, then “Wi-Fi router”. In the settings you can select the network name, password, and connection type (open, WPA2).

Implementation of operation of two SIM cards

The device has one radio module, therefore, if you speak using one SIM card, the other is unavailable at that moment and when you call it, the person will hear the phrase “the subscriber is unavailable.” In the settings, you can assign a color to each SIM card and change the name. When you make a call or send a message, a pop-up menu appears asking you to select a SIM card with which to perform the action. In the settings you can also disable the appearance of this window and simply select the “default” SIM card.

Navigation

There is no GPS support in the smartphone, there is only coordinate determination using additional means (A-GPS). To work with cards like Google Maps or Yandex Maps, the accuracy provided by A-GPS is quite sufficient, but full-fledged navigation software will not work on a smartphone.

Software

The smartphone runs Android 2.3 OS branded shell from Alcatel. Yes, the system version is outdated, but most programs work for it, and it’s simply pointless to demand more from a device for that kind of money.

The Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D smartphone went on sale in 2015. You can buy it for $54, subject to signing a contract with the operator. The cost without a contract reaches $65. There are several model options, with different versions operating system. There is also a single-SIM version, distinguished by the prefix 4027X in the name. There is another variation, with 1 GB of RAM, a different processor and 4G support. Same appearance, the same name - Alcatel Pixi 3, but with the 5017D prefix. This review will talk about Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) 4027D. This is very budget model for people who want to get a smartphone for minimal money.

Specifications Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) 4027D

Considering the price, the device lags behind other Chinese manufacturers in terms of characteristics, and is stuck somewhere in 2013.

Design

The appearance of the device does not stand out in anything remarkable: it is a typical rectangular brick with rounded edges. The only unusual thing to note is the huge touch buttons under the screen, which are not backlit. The lid has a soft-touch coating, so the device feels confident in your hands. The body height is 132.2 mm, width is 65.1 mm, and thickness is 11.7 mm - the smartphone can be considered thick by modern standards. Its weight is 151 grams.

CPU

The hardware is based on a very budget 2-core MediaTek MT6572 processor. Processor operating frequency - 1.2 GHz, in different sources Information on this matter is conflicting. The Mali-400 MP 500 MHz video chip is responsible for graphics processing. This hardware allows the smartphone to perform trivial tasks: calls, social networks, watching videos, launching applications, web surfing, navigation. The Antutu synthetic test estimates the smartphone's performance at approximately 12 thousand points.

However, given the insufficient amount of RAM, the user may experience a noticeable lack of performance. For example, the interface sometimes slows down. The speed of launching applications and switching between them leaves much to be desired. Videos on YouTube play normally in low resolution, but you won’t be able to watch online videos normally in a browser. Simple games a la Angry Birds run without problems. In resource-intensive 3D games, stuttering will sometimes be noticeable. And no graphics settings will help: there is too little RAM.

Memory

The manufacturer saved on RAM: in the Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D its volume is only 512 MB. To work comfortably with a smartphone, this is not enough; you need at least 1 GB of RAM. Periodic slowdowns in the operation of the device that occur when trying to load it with more than one simple task are proof of this.

The capacity of the built-in storage is also negligible: 4 GB, of which about 2 GB is available to the user. This is barely enough to install the necessary software; any games are out of the question. However, despite the limitation of the operating system, the manufacturer has added the ability to select the location for installing applications. Supported external drives microSD format up to 32 GB.

Autonomous operation

Nutrition that provides autonomous operation, comes from a 1400 mAh battery. Not enough, but the hardware is quite modest and consumes energy sparingly. The charge is enough for one day of light if you use the device for infrequent calls and communication in social networks. In games, the battery can be completely drained in 3 - 3.5 hours. The maximum video viewing time on one charge is about 4 hours. Charger included in the kit, when connected to the network, replenishes the charge level to 100% in about 2.5 hours.

Camera

Alcatel Pixi 3 is equipped with a 5 MP main camera. The quality of the resulting photos is unsatisfactory, but quite consistent with the price category of the smartphone. The general blurriness of the images, the lack of proper detail is, in general, a standard situation. You can use the flash to take pictures in low light. The camera is not equipped with autofocus, so photos can often be “out of focus,” especially if you try to take a photo at close range. There is an HDR mode, but it doesn't help the situation. Videos can be recorded at a resolution of 1280 x 720, although in the settings the maximum available resolution is 840 x 480. The quality of the resulting videos is much better than photos.

The 0.3 megapixel front camera with interpolation up to 2 megapixels also does not produce good results. But it can be useful for video communication.

Display

The smartphone has a 4.5-inch TFT display. The smartphone manufacturer “forgot” to clarify the technology used to make the matrix. Judging by the not-so-high viewing angles, we can assume that this is a TN matrix. The screen resolution is 854 x 480 pixels, pixel density is 218 ppi. However, the screen cannot be called terrible - viewing angles and image quality are quite acceptable. The touchscreen recognizes 2 touches simultaneously. There is no adaptive brightness control. The maximum brightness reserve is not conducive to using the device in bright sunshine. But for indoor use, the brightness of the display is quite enough.

Network communications

Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D can work with two SIMs; they are installed in the corresponding slots under the battery. 2G GSM and 3G communication standards are supported. The smartphone has a module GPS navigation, with support for A-GPS technology. It “clings” to satellites without problems, the connection is stable. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 data transmission technologies are supported.

Sound

The main audio speaker is loud enough to not miss a call or alarm. You don't need anything more from it for such a price. There are no complaints about the conversational speaker; the interlocutor can be heard normally. The sound in the headphones is acceptable, nothing unusual.

Software

Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D runs on operating system Android 4.4 KitKat. In the settings there is a “Software Update” item, however, more new version You shouldn't expect an OS from the manufacturer. But on w3bsit3-dns.com there are a lot of firmware for this device, including CyanogenMod 12.1, based on Android 5.1.1. This device can also be found with Firefox 2.0 and Windows 8.1 OS. But such offers, most likely, will not be available to our market.

Distinctive features

There is an event indicator on the front panel. It lets you know if there are missed calls or notifications without unlocking the screen. An event indicator light in an ultra-budget segment device is a very rare occurrence.

Gestures that use the accelerometer are also supported: hang up the call and turn off the alarm by rotating the screen down, and changing the playing track by shaking the smartphone.

Pros and cons of Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D

Pros:

  • event indicator light;
  • Gesture support;
  • not the worst display.

Minuses:

  • only 512 MB of RAM, the lack of RAM is felt due to periodic freezes of the interface and applications;
  • with such a thick case (11.7 mm), they could install a more capacious battery;
  • little built-in memory.

Our review of the Alcatel Pixi 3 4027D smartphone

The quality of shooting from both cameras was deliberately not included in the list of shortcomings. At the moment, the cameras are quite consistent with the price of the device. Otherwise, Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) 4027D is a smartphone entry level. Designed for people who need affordable mobile device on Android, with support for 2 SIM, WiFi and 3G. And also for those who are looking for a cheap device from a more or less well-known manufacturer, but are not yet aware that Alcatel is no longer French company. This is a Chinese device, and for a similar price there are much more attractive devices, both in appearance and in characteristics.

Today we’ll look at the budget Alcatel One tablet in all respects touch pixi 3, which, as it turned out in practice, fulfills all the obligations assigned to it. For the amount of $80, we get a dual-core processor and 512 MB of RAM, which is certainly not much, but for surfing the Internet, watching videos and listening to audio, it’s quite enough. Also, weak cameras will not take high-quality photos, but, as it were, the tablet is not positioned as a selfie device. Additionally, it is worth noting that the device is assembled quite well and has a screen with good color reproduction, but a small expansion. Ideal for those people who do not like to spend a lot of money on this kind of gadgets, but would not mind enjoying all the benefits modern world. Moreover, Alcatel One Touch pixi 3 is bought mainly by children, for obvious reasons. Overall, it’s a pretty good tablet, especially considering its price, I definitely recommend taking a closer look at it

Alcatel One Touch pixi 3 Reviews

— The price-quality ratio is undoubtedly pleasing;

— The quality of the photos is far from the best due to the weak camera;

— Not a bad touchscreen;

— For the cost of $70, we get a dual-core processor that copes with its responsibilities.

— Little RAM, although it will be quite enough for surfing the Internet.;

— Fits quite well in the hands;

The build quality matches the price;

- Copes well with navigation programs. Quickly searches for satellites;

— The battery is quite decent, if used at maximum load it should be enough for a full working day;

— The screen is the most ordinary. Color rendering is within normal limits. The eyes practically do not get tired from such a screen;

The system works stably, and there is no large amount of pre-installed software that then has to be removed;

- Included detailed instructions;

— The back cover fits perfectly in the hands;

Convenient size tablet;

— This device is bought mainly by children, which is not surprising, since if something happens to the device, the amount is not that big;

— A large number of positive responses on the network;

— Regarding the screen expansion, it is only 1024*700 pixels, which is certainly not enough for 2016. The same can be said for the system as a whole, therefore, the most modern games obviously won’t work, but for everything else the One Touch pixi 3 can be used

Conclusion

This tablet will be popular, first of all, among children and their parents, as well as among those people who do not like to spend a large number of cash for various gadgets. Overall, the Alcatel One Touch pixi 3 leaves more positive memories than negative ones.

    I bought it in December 2015. As of today - January 2019.. my faithful friend, it still works. Like New! Whatever is really needed, I take a photo. The battery charge lasts all day, because... I don’t go online from it. The calls are loud, the vibration is vibrating, the speakers are working, the audibility is excellent. What else? Never mind. This is my faithful, reliable comrade. I want to buy something new, but in my heart I feel so sorry to betray him.

    slow compared to its 3.5" "younger brother" PIXI 2 4014D, perhaps precisely because big screen+ the battery drains faster When dialing a subscriber, the vibration does not work when answering. The same is observed in the 4014D and also in the 4009d and also in the 4015d. The software glitch is irreparable, because It's a matter of firmware from the manufacturer.

    Sometimes it overheats, the phone is definitely not for professional photography (the price is clear), when you set the video quality to UT 480 it starts to lag, I also want to note that the RAM for games is too small so there are lags and slowdowns

    just a terribly stupid and slow phone. It feels like it is powered not by a battery, but by brake fluid.

    3 years ago

    Terrible camera, both front and rear. Problems with memory, I don’t understand what this phone wants, a 4 GB memory card, it’s set in the settings to immediately move all applications to the memory card, but it doesn’t move them. It’s sooooo stupid, it’s impossible to go to Google normally, or watch a video on YouTube. The battery runs out quickly, right before your eyes. The included wire stopped working literally after 1 month, so I had to use another one. When talking on the phone, the conversation itself is very audible.

    Brakes, creaks back cover, sometimes ignores touches; If you watch a video on it, the pixels will be visible

    3 years ago

    It’s very sluggish, after turning it on it takes about a minute and a half to load, then the touchscreen slows down for the first time. The touchscreen itself is generally very rough, does not respond well to touch, and very often neighboring buttons are pressed instead of the desired one. Because of this, you try more to use voice input, but it only works more or less decently with 3G connections. And sometimes you have to repeat it 5 times. There’s some kind of problem with the memory in general; it’s not clear why you need a memory card if installed applications are not transferred there. I have a situation where in order to install a new application I have to erase the old one. IN general telephone only suitable as a simple dialer
