Program for remote control of a computer via the Internet. We connect remote access to a computer via the Internet

Hi all! Imagine you are leaving. It doesn't matter: to the office on the next street for a few hours, on a business trip or on vacation. But you know for sure: you may need the data that is stored on your home computer. For some reason, you can't take them with you: for example, you don't know exactly which books from your huge library you'll need or which samples you'll want to put into a song you're writing in the islands. But access to home computer you will need.

Good news for you: humanity has long figured out how to remotely connect to a computer via the Internet. True, you need to prepare for this event in advance. In the article below, we'll show you how.

There will be 2 methods involved. The first one is with standard applications Windows, and the second using third-party programs.

Remote access to a computer via the Internet using Windows

Remember the lines included in the joke from the old Nokia instructions? Well, yes, “to use this function, the phone must be turned on”? You will laugh, but we will also play Captain Obvious: in order for you to remotely connect to your computer, it must remain turned on and connected to the Internet.

But this is an obvious consideration. There are also not so clear: for example, the interaction between two computers - your home and the one through which you will connect - is based on the “client-server” scheme, and your home computer will act as the server, and the one you have with yourself. Before you connect to another computer via the Internet, you need to prepare both.

Let's start with a home computer. Let's assume it's on it. I must say that the Home version is not suitable for this function to work: you must have at least Windows 10 Pro.

The first step is to allow remote connection to your computer. This is done using the system tools: go to Control Panel / System / System Protection / Remote Access, find the line “Allow remote connection” there and check the box there.

The second thing you need is a static IP address. In the same Control Panel, go to the “Network and Internet / Network Connections” section, find the adapter that is currently being used, and right-click its menu.

Click on "Properties", select the line "IP version 4" and click on "Properties" in the same tab. Here you need, available locally, but not used by the router (the occupied range can be found in the menu of the router itself). In the line "Subnet mask" is usually entered "255.255.255.0.", And in the line "Default gateway" - the IP of your router. It can also be entered as a DNS server, but options are possible here. So, for example, Google's public DNS addresses are also valid: 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8.

For example it could be like this:

On the router, you will also need to configure port 3389 (how to do this - read the instructions for the router or in thematic discussions).

However, all the manipulations from this point can be avoided if, when leaving, you turn off the router altogether and leave the computer connected directly to the provider's network. Then you only need to know yours and make sure with the provider that it will remain unchanged.

How to prepare a terminal using Windows

By "terminal" we mean the computer from which you will connect to your remote. All you need for this is an application called "Remote Desktop". Perhaps in your Windows versions it already exists. And if not, you can download it from the Microsoft App Store.

The application is made in Modern-style, with the expectation of touch displays, but it is also convenient to work with it in the traditional way. To add your home computer, you need to click the plus button on the right upper corner window. In the drop-down menu, select Desktop (Computer) and enter the access data - a local IP address if the computer is on the same network as you, or an external one if you connect via the Internet.

To access your computer, you will need account information. If you are using an account Microsoft entry, enter its details. If local, enter the username and password. Click "Save" to avoid entering data every time you connect. Of course, if you're using the Remote Desktop app on someone else's computer, you don't need to save your login information on that computer.

At correct setting after connecting, you will be able to see the desktop of your computer in the program window and run any programs or open files from it.

We only considered the option when Windows 10 Pro is installed on the remote computer. Other versions of Windows do not have this functionality or need more fine tuning. However, remote control of a computer via the Internet is also possible through universal solutions, which we will discuss below.

Third Party Remote Access Tools

Although Windows has its own organization of remote access, there are third-party programs that do it better. Let's take a look at some of the most famous of them.

teamviewer

One of the first programs that more or less dedicated people thought of when they saw the title was TeamViewer. Naturally, we will start with it.

The advantages of this program are not only well-known and popular (and as a result - commercial success, demanding users and attentive developers, plus support). TeamViewer is a fairly simple, flexible and multifunctional solution. By and large, you don't even need a second computer to connect to your home computer: an iPhone, iPad, or Android device is enough. Clients exist for most mobile platforms, plus Windows, OS X, and Linux.

In addition to remote desktop, the application supports voice and video calls. So, for example, if one of your relatives or colleagues still has access to your computer and needs your help, you can chat as you work right in TeamViewer without leaving your session or using other programs.

Your connection will be protected by 256-bit AES encryption, so intercepting it is almost useless.

The most valuable property of the program, which cannot be overestimated, is the ability to turn on your home computer on a signal via the Internet. If in your absence there were many hours of power outages, no UPS will help. But TeamViewer will allow your computer to turn on on demand from the outside.

And one more plus - the program is not divided into client and server parts. It is enough to install a single version on both computers. And then everything is configured in a few clicks.

The disadvantage of the program, by and large, is only one: the cost. A single copy license for a private user costs about $200. But if timely access to a computer is worth it - why not?

Radmin

The name of this product means "Remote Administrator", which immediately conveys its purpose. By their own functionality it roughly corresponds to Team Viewer: you can receive remote access to your computer, turn it on and off with network commands, run programs, open files and move data between the remote PC and the terminal.

Radmin is inferior to TeamViewer only in some aspects: it does not offer applications for mobile devices, does not provide simultaneous access to a computer from several terminals, and is not so common.

One of the main advantages of Radmin is the price. A single license for the program to access one computer will cost only 1250 rubles - that's just over $ 20: ten times cheaper than Team Viewer! At the same time, you will get all the benefits of commercial programs: ongoing support,

However, if you need a completely free solution, there is one too.

UltraVNC

Yes, it exists! Free App, which works on the same principle as the above. But remote access to a computer via the Internet, it is very high quality.

Yes, UltraVNC is inferior to commercial solutions in some aspects. So, to provide 256-bit encryption, you will need to install a special plugin. The desktop client is only for Windows, while the mobile clients are only for Android and iOS. There is no built-in voice communication, so remote support will have to be done using Skype or regular phone, or built-in text chat.

But, on the other hand, a remote access tool for free is not such a frequent pleasure. Therefore, we recommend that you first use UltraVNC, and then, if any important functions will be sorely missed, turn to commercial products.

Remote access is a great tool if you need to help a person who is away with a computer, or urgently view work files from home. Consider what programs you can use for this, how to configure them and apply them in your work.

What is remote access

Remote access is a technology that allows a user to connect to a computer from a distance using another device and control it as if he were sitting at this computer. It can be connecting to a work machine from home, or helping a friend with installing programs - there are many options. The main condition is the presence of Internet access and a special program on both devices.

To organize remote access, there are many programs, both complex and very simple, some of which we will try to highlight.

A device on a remote access network can play two roles:

  • host - a computer to which access is provided (for example, a work computer on which you need to work from home);
  • client - a machine that accesses other devices.

The same computer in different situations can be used both as a host and as a client - but not at the same time.

Each device is assigned its own identifier - a label with which the devices "find" each other on the network. In most cases, the connection goes like this: the client is given a host ID, it finds it on the network and connects to it, giving the user access. For security purposes, you may also need a unique one-time password that is visible only to the host: this is done so that an untrusted person cannot connect to the computer.

Some programs use a generated unique ID number as an identifier, some prefer to use an IP address and Domain name. We will consider both of them.

Remote access via ID

First, let's talk about programs that operate on ID. They are quite easy to use and suitable for everyday needs of ordinary users, but they are not without their drawbacks.

AeroAdmin

Video: Using TeamViewer

Ammyy Admin

Ammyy is another remote access program that stands out for its simplicity and minimalism.

It has fewer functions than TeamViewer, but it is perfect for people who do not have special requirements for functionality: Ammyy is simple and very convenient, and also free.

The interface of the program is similar to the previous one: there is a window, the window contains your data as a host and a form for connecting other computers. You can connect both by ID and by IP.

The main window of Ammyy Admin provides the opportunity to both connect your computer to the client and become a client yourself

Unlike TeamViewer, Ammyy Admin does not ask for a password: instead, it requires the host to be sure to agree to the connection. Without the consent of the host, the communication session will not start.

Ammyy is waiting for the host to give permission to connect

The main disadvantage is the same as that of TeamViewer: the free version implies restrictions on the use of the program, which are eliminated only by purchase full version.

LiteManager

The third program that provides access by ID is LiteManager, a Russian program built on the basis of a utility from Microsoft, now closed. In the same way, dividing into free and paid version, LiteManager provides "free" users with much more options than previous programs: for example, not 5 computers, but all 30 can be connected to your client. Such loyalty makes the program attractive not only for ordinary users, but also for administrators of small networks.

Unlike other considered tools, LiteManager consists of two components that are installed separately from each other: the client (installed on the client machine) and the server (respectively, on the host) part.

When installing the server part, a password is set for it, which is subsequently used by the client to connect to the host.

The client interface differs from previous programs and is more like a manager window virtual machines. In him a list of connected devices is indicated, each of which can be launched using the mouse.

The LiteManager interface displays connected devices that can be launched with a mouse click

The capabilities of LiteManager in some way repeat the functionality of TeamViewer and even exceed it. You can connect both by IP and by ID; there is also a handy display function, referred to as a network map. It can be used to represent all computers involved in the network in the form of a map that displays the connection of hosts to the client, as well as connected printers and other devices.

Network map in LiteManager is the ability to view connected devices as a map

Remote access using an IP address

Here everything is somewhat more complicated. The fact is that the IP address of an ordinary user is dynamic, that is, it changes regularly, and if you need to constantly connect via IP, it will be very inconvenient to set up the program again every time. Therefore, in order to take full advantage of remote access via IP, it is necessary to activate the static IP service. This is done by the provider and costs about 200 rubles per month (prices may vary depending on the provider).

After connecting the service, you will be given a static (unchanging) IP, and you can use the remote connection. However, the service should be used at your own peril and risk: ordinary user PC static address, due to its less security, can bring problems.

Alternatively, you can use the DynDNS service, which, for a fee, gives the user virtual server- through it the connection will pass. However, this service is more expensive than a static IP.

When a static IP is received, you need to open the port necessary for the program to work.

Now that the settings have been applied, it's time to move on to the program itself.

Radmin

Radmin program for a long time(before the advent of TeamViewer and other systems using ID) was the leader among remote access systems. It is very lightweight, undemanding to system restrictions (therefore, it "runs" well on older computers), and also provides high connection speed. However, this program only works through an IP address.

Radmin consists of client and server parts, and after installation, some configuration will be required.

Radmin- paid program, but a free 30-day trial version can be downloaded from the official website.

Remote Desktop

This is not a third party software. This is a built-in tool for remote administration from Microsoft, which usually only works on a local network. To work with it, you will also need a static IP address and port settings, which are described above. The port, however, needs to be specified differently: 3389.

For Remote Desktop to work, you need to give it permission. To do this, go along the path "Start - Control Panel - System - Remote Access Settings" and tick "Allow connection ..." wherever possible.

To built windows service Remote Desktop worked, you need to set permissions for it

Remote Desktop is found through the start menu search as "Remote Desktop Connection". It looks like this: a window into which the data of the host computer (IP address and username) are entered.

To connect via classic app Windows needs to enter the details of the host computer

If everything is good, then this will be enough to connect.

So, we found out how to use remote access programs and how they can help both a simple user and a network administrator. Now the main thing is to apply the acquired knowledge in time!

Since our site is designed for average users, there was some disagreement within the NeError.Ru team regarding the usefulness of this article. Usually, such material is presented for more experienced users, who at least have a good knowledge of Windows.

On the other hand - where to go for a novice user who only remotely knows what RDP, TCP, UDP are? But you really want to know? Again, does the average user need this? Maybe one simple program is enough for him?

A difficult situation.

Explain in one article what remote access to a computer via the Internet is, but in such a way as not to frighten off the visitor.

We decided to experiment. Tell about the complex, as clearly as possible. We will focus on your comments.

What is this article about?

This article will tell you about two types of remote connection, briefly talk about what is ID. Talk about programs Remote access and Remote Desktop. We will also try to set up our computer in order to access it remotely without using third-party programs. Difficult terms in the article are highlighted in brown, and provided with explanations in the form of tooltips.

The concept of remote access

Remote access to a computer via the Internet is called operating system tools, or third party program, allowing you to get visual or file access to a computer located at a remote distance, but at the same time connected to the Internet.

How is the desired computer recognized on the Internet?

Conventionally, all remote access programs can be divided into two groups according to the type of connection:

  • Using ID
  • Using IP addresses and domain names

Remote access programs using ID

Of great interest are programs that use ID(unique identificator). Receiving method ID something like this: when a remote access program is launched on the computer to which the connection is planned, it sends a request to its server through which the connection will be made.

Having received this data, the server generates for the computer unique identification numberID. This number is assigned to the computer. It is highlighted in red in the screenshot below.

Knowing this identification number and password, you can connect to a computer from anywhere in the world with this ID.

It remains unchanged until the hardware is replaced or the OS is reinstalled.

So the use of such programs is very convenient. When changing the Internet provider, city, and even country, your computer ID Will not change.

The disadvantage of programs using ID one - they are paid or shareware. Condition - you must not use the program for commercial purposes.

An example of programs using ID— TeamViewer , Ammy Admin . But the list is not limited to these two. They are simply the most popular and always heard by users.

We will not spend much time on these programs, as their interface is simple and allows you to learn the program in 5-10 minutes. In the future, we may consider each of them.

You won't have any problems with these programs. Use on health, not abusing. If TeamViewer will connect to a large number of ID- then sooner or later, the communication session will be limited to five minutes.

Remote access programs using IP address or domain name

With this category, things are a bit more complicated. They need a static ip address or domain name. Connection via IP address, this is a classic type of connection. It does not offer as much flexibility in the location of the computer and is most commonly used in "office space".

In order to use it, you need to do the following.

Connecting a fixed IP address or domain.

You need to connect with your ISP additional serviceFixed ip address . This service is provided by many providers, including mobile ones. This service will assign your home network external ip address format 123.123.123.123

It is this address that will allow you to find your computer from the outside.

An alternative to a fixed ip-address can be a service DynDNS. Upon registration, you will be given an individual domain, for example:

neoshibka.dyn.com

Next, you simply install a program on your computer that, when turned on, will track your current ip-address and send it to the server DynDNS, which in turn will match your current dynamic ip address , with address yourlogin.dyn.com

Thus, wherever you are, no matter what provider you use, no matter how often your IP address changes - the address of your computer - yourlogin.dyn.com

We will not undertake to assert, but getting a fixed ip-address from a provider is somewhat easier and cheaper than using DynDNS. For example, at the time of this writing, the cost of a dedicated IP address was only 20 rubles. / month

Advertising

Opening a port on the target is a remote computer.

Even now, knowing our ip-address or assigned to us DynDNS domain, we can hardly connect to the computer - the firewall will not let us through. Most likely a port 3389 used by the program Remote Desktop which we will tame in this article will be closed. For everything to work as it should, we will have to open it and redirect it to desired computer online.

Difficult? Not at all. Let's try to understand in practice.

Remote access to a computer over the Internet using Remote Desktop

So, first what we did was get a fixed ip address from our ISP. Remember, write it down, draw it.

Second. Let's find out intranet ip address our computer. To do this, we will follow the following path: Network and Sharing Center => Local Area Connection => Details
As you can see in the screenshot, the address of our computer within the network 192.168.1.102

Third point will be the opening of the port 3389 to the above address. To do this, go to the router. In our case, this ADSL modem TP-LINK. We will show everything by his example. There's nothing you can do about it, but you can't do without instructions if you don't know how to set up the modem yourself.

In our case, we go through Google Chrome by the address 192.168.1.1 and under the combination admin/admin. We get to the information page.

Let's go to Advanced Setup => NAT => Virtual Servers and press the button (add).

Here you can choose ready-made services or create your own.

We will create our own and call it Udalenka, but the name can be absolutely anything. We prescribe the local address of the computer, the one that was spied on earlier. In the table, we write the port everywhere 3389 and choose protocol TCP/UDP. We do all this based on a standard Windows application. Remote Desktop. For other programs, the ports may be different. A good list of applications and the ports they use is given. (What we are learning can even be useful for games).

If, for example, you want to use Remote Desktop, and advanced RAdmin, then you will have to register a different port for it: 4899 .

Click the button to save.

Item fourth, we will run on the computer we are going to manage - Terminal Server Service. Here it is worth clarifying something.

Using the method described below is not recommended from the point of view of license purity if you do this in the organization where you work. Not sure about Windows 10, but in Windows XP-7, the license was not violated if only one user connected to the computer.

We, on the other hand, do all this for the purpose of familiarization and in order to learn the principles of remote access to a computer via the Internet.

So here's to run on the computer Terminal Server Service. In Windows XP, this was done simply - Went to AdministrationServices and ApplicationsServices found it and just turned it on. This allowed one user to connect to the computer. At the same time, the user who was sitting locally was disconnected.

In Windows 10, we need to do things a little differently. We need a special patch. You can download it from here. This patch will allow you to run on the system Windows 10 terminal service.

Recently, search engines Google and Yandex began to consider given file as a virus threat. In fact, the file was on the site for two years, and never a single scanner considered it to be malware. However, now the file is stored outside of NeOshibka.Ru - you download it at your own peril and risk.

Unzip the downloaded file to any location. For example on Desktop. Run as administrator file install.bat

A black window will report a successful result. command line with content like this:

Fifth point we will set a password for our user, and also add it to the group.

To do this, on the icon A computer and right click to select Control.

In the window that opens, in its left part, we need to expand the list Local Users and groups, select subitem Users.

In the list of users, you need to find yourself and right-click.

Enter your password twice, press and the system will confirm that the password is set.

Now we need to add our user to the group Remote Desktop Users.

In order to do this:

Right click on the user - Properties.

In the window that opens, go to the tab Group membership and press the button <Добавить…>

Next, do everything in the same order as in the screenshot:

As a result of the work done - Remote Desktop Users should appear in the general list of groups to which the user belongs.

We would like to draw your attention to the following. The above describes how to assign a password to your user. But it's better to create a new one and already attach it to the groups. Otherwise, you may end up losing some data. For example, we logged out wherever possible. I had to type in all the passwords again.

Let's check if we managed to get remote access to the computer via the Internet using Remote Desktop.

We go to another computer, go to Start Menu => All Programs => Accessories and run the program "Remote Desktop Connection".

Enter in the window that appears the ip-address assigned to us earlier by the provider, press the button <Подключить> .

If everything we did before, we did it right, then we will be asked almost immediately Name and Password user on remote machine. Enter them and do not forget to check the box to remember the credentials.

And the last "touch on security" will be checking the certificate of the Remote machine. Here, too, we must agree with everything. And check the box too.

That's all. If everything works as it should, you can climb in the settings of the Remote Desktop program. Here you can turn on / off the sound, change the picture quality, connect local resources to the remote machine.

Free Solutions

Remote control involves connecting to another computer to gain access and manage resources. Thanks to this feature, the user can solve many additional tasks remotely: consult, diagnose, monitor the computer. Thus, tasks are simplified, which are often impossible or irrational to perform at a distance.

As part of the review, 10 solutions (6 free and 4 paid) will be considered for remote control. The main attention will be paid to the following features of the software of the selected category:

  • Package contents: what components are included in the distribution, types of installation on the host and client computer
  • Connection modes: supported protocols, work with RDP (see below)
  • Presentation functions: this refers to the possibility of audio and video accompaniment, screen capture, the presence additional tools(“pointer”, “drawing board”, etc.)
  • Security: supported encryption technologies, storage of confidential data, types of authorization on local and remote computers, availability of necessary settings
  • Platform support: mobile platforms and operating systems, availability of an online version.

The standard features of Windows will not be ignored, namely the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), which will be considered first. At the end of the review - a comparative table with detailed information about the availability of the necessary functions in the mentioned applications.

RDP - Windows Remote Desktop Protocol

Starting with Windows NT, the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is supported. Accordingly, Windows 7 offers the user RDP 7 (an update for Windows XP is also available), Windows 8 - RDP 8 (also available for Windows 7 SP1). The capabilities of the current version, RDP 8, will be reviewed.

Connecting to a remote desktop is done using the mstsc.exe application, after entering the name of the remote computer. Connection parameters are also available in this dialog.

In the "Display" tab, the resolution of the remote desktop is indicated (with the ability to enable full screen mode), color depth (up to 32 bits).

In the "Local Resources" section, you can select the sound playback mode (on a remote or current computer), enable recording audio from a remote desktop. Also in this section, access to the printer is configured, local disk, disk drive, PnP devices, ports.

The quality of data transfer is regulated in the "Interaction" tab. You can not only select a connection profile, but also define display settings yourself: desktop background, anti-aliasing, visual effects, image caching. All these options affect the data transfer rate during remote access and can significantly optimize network traffic.

Security settings are available through the "System" component ("System Properties" in the Control Panel). In the "Remote Access" tab, you can allow remote assistance connections, as well as remote connections to the computer. Authentication is performed at the network level. It is also possible to restrict access by specifying a list of allowed remote desktop users yourself.

Thus, the Windows state provides basic tools for working with RDP protocol. But, as expected, advanced security settings, support for mobile platforms, and presentation functions are not offered to the user.

teamviewer

TeamViewer is perhaps the most famous program for remote control among free. The toolkit allows you to establish remote access to your home computer, manage your desktop from various platforms and devices, administer windows server. In addition, the developers highlight the corporate capabilities of TeamViewer: the program can be used to organize conferences, consultations and help colleagues at work.

TeamViewer is available for Windows, Linux, Mac platforms (with restrictions), remote access from OS-based devices is possible. The TeamViewer client in the full version of the distribution kit ("All in One"), as a system service (TeamViewer Host), in a portable format, on a terminal server and other options. The TeamViewer QuickSupport module should be highlighted, which does not require installation and is optimal for performing urgent tasks.

The client and operator parts are available in the full version of the program. The TeamViewer interface is represented by the main window with two tabs - "Remote Control" and "Conference".

Remote control

The user receives a unique ID to identify the computer on the network, and a temporary password. Also, using the partner ID (optionally - IP address) and knowing his password, you can establish a connection to a remote device.

Three connection modes are available:

  • Remote Management: Manage your device remotely or collaborate on the same computer
    All actions are performed on another computer through the remote control window. At the same time, it is possible to change the resolution and scaling, switching between active monitors and other options.
  • File transfer: share files during a session
    For data exchange in TeamViewer, a two-pane file manager is used, in which host and client resources are available and basic file operations for working with them, such as: creating folders, deleting, copying, etc.
  • VPN: virtual network mode
    Between computers, you can install a virtual private network to share devices (printers, removable media and etc.).

Conferences

In this TeamViewer tab, you can create a blitz conference or connect to an existing one. Among available tools you can note voice and video communication, screen sharing, session recording with the ability to convert to AVI. "Whiteboard" (Whiteboard) is used as a canvas for drawing, creating sketches, comments.

One of the indisputable conveniences of TeamViewer is the "Computers and Contacts" list, which provides quick access to devices. In addition, here you can track the network status of computers, exchange messages (there are group chat options). Looking ahead, it should be noted that not every participant in the review offers an address book for quick connection to other devices.

For security purposes, the program uses session encryption (AES 256 bits) and traffic (exchange RSA keys). Files transferred during a session are signed by VeriSign and the end user must agree to receive them. Through TeamViewer settings it is possible to restrict access: setting access to all operations only after confirmation or prohibiting outgoing sessions.

Summary

TeamViewer is a universal solution with a choice of remote control methods. Due to the widely presented multimedia functions, convenient organization of contacts, the program is optimal for conferences.

Ammyy Admin

Ammyy Admin does not require installation and combines a simple interface with flexible functionality. The program is free, has no restrictions when home use. Distributed for Windows, Linux/FreeBSD platforms, mobile devices are not supported.

The client and operator modules are available in the main window. The user receives an ID, which is generated with reference to the equipment. Optionally, when connecting, you can use IP.

The client part can be activated or stopped, thereby setting a ban on connections; by default, Ammyy Admin works in standby mode. You can track the connection status using indicators, the decoding of which is in.

There is an address book, contacts can be combined into groups, change the order of contacts, manually add new addresses. The network status of computers, however, cannot be monitored.

Of the main connection modes, you can select Desktop (remote desktop), File manager ( File manager) and Microsoft RDP. RDP allows you to connect to a remote desktop, regular Windows functions are provided.

Of the other modes, there are Voice Chat (voice chat) and Speed Test (connection speed test). It's obvious that multimedia capabilities here they are not presented as fully as in TeamViewer: Ammyy Admin is not positioned as some kind of corporate solution. We can note the screen sharing function, which, in combination with voice chat, makes Ammyy Admin a program suitable for remote assistance.

By going to “Ammyy → Settings → Operator”, you can specify RDP parameters, select the type of encryption and codec profiles, thereby reducing the load on the network. More importantly, the "Network" tab allows you to configure the Ammyy Admin connection, manually specify routers, enable or disable data transmission over the Ammyy Worldwide Network.

The file manager is a two-panel one, through which standard file operations between the client and the operator are available.

In the access rights settings (“Client → Access rights”), separate parameters can be set for each ID. The authentication mode (connection to a PC) is provided to choose from: by Hardware ID, password or user permission. Thus, you can minimally protect your computer from unauthorized remote connections.

Summary

The main advantages of Ammyy Admin are speed, simple and fast interface, relative independence from Ammyy servers and free of charge. Probably not the best for teamwork optimal solution, but for individual use, with several computers at your disposal, it's fine.

Supremo Remote Desktop

Supremo Remote Desktop is a convenient portable tool for remote control, remote assistance to other users. Works under Windows control XP and above, mobile devices are not supported.

The program starts without installation, to get started, the host and client must download Supremo Remote Desktop from the developer's site. Traditionally, two modes of operation are supported: using a computer as an access point and connecting to a remote device. In the first case, access is opened by pressing the Start button. The Your credentials section contains the data required to connect: ID and password generated at the beginning of the session. The client requests authorization when logging in (option Ask authorization), thereby preventing attempts of unauthorized access to the computer.

To connect to a host, use the Your partner field, or select an address from the Address Book. The list of active connections is displayed in the Connections section of the main program window.

During transmission, the HTTPS (SSL) protocol is used, the data is encrypted. The security settings are poorly disclosed: you can set a password to start the program, specify the IDs allowed for the connection.

Of the other tools available in Supremo Remote Desktop, one can note the multiple connections of users to one machine. To transfer files, a manager is used that resembles a classic two-panel one; uploading and downloading files is available. No presentation and multimedia functions are provided. This certainly limits the use of Supremo as a remote assistant.

Summary

Supremo Remote Desktop is an easy-to-use program with a standard set of tools for remote control. It can be noticed by users who do not need multimedia features.

mRemoteNG

Speaking of universal tools that allow you to work with several protocols at the same time, mRemoteNG is worth mentioning. The program provides access to VNC, ICA, SSH, Telnet, RAW, Rlogin and HTTP / S, there is also support for RDP. Distributed in portable and standard version installer for the Windows platform.

The mRemoteNG interface is represented by several sections, there are panels, tabbedness - as a result, it is easy for the user to configure appearance programs in your own way. The main options are available in the "Configuration" section. Here you can specify the protocol required for connection and related parameters: connection settings, protocol, gateway, appearance, resources, and others. The 'Configuration' displays the connection status of the host.

Connection with devices is carried out through the quick connection panel - it is easy to create several configurations here, which, in the case of many protocols, is very convenient. Connections can be grouped and configurations can be easily imported/exported.

File transfer is carried out via the SSH protocol - which is not very familiar to the average user and at the same time, more reliable in terms of security. Additional features include a port scanner, external tools can be added to the list.

The indistinctness of mRemoteNG is striking. This is manifested in an unusual interface: it is not so convenient to work and configure with each specific protocol. In the connection configuration, many parameters are reduced beyond recognition - this can be attributed to the quality of localization. When you try to find a description of the functions, the documentation is silent, its sections are empty.

Summary

A notable feature of mRemoteNG is the combination of popular protocols into a single graphical shell. By setting up multiple connections, there is no need to use multiple specialized solutions. This plus to some extent compensates for the non-intuitiveness of the program and the lack of documentation.

TightVNC

Homepage: http://www.tightvnc.com/

TightVNC Software develops several products: TightProjector, RFB Player, VNC Reflector and TightVNC. TightVNC is a remote control program, you can use it to solve computer problems, educational purposes, and administration.

TightVNC is a cross platform solution. For Linux, however, at the time of writing, only old version programs, Mac OS is not supported. However, there is a version of TightVNC on the Java platform available, which implies the possibility of remote control via a web server. On the Windows platform, TightVNC is installed as a regular application or as a system service. Quiet mode is supported, it is quite easy to transfer the configuration to other computers or remotely update the server.

The TightVNC toolkit is divided into two modules: WinVNC - a server part installed on a remote machine, and a Viewer application designed to view the contents of the screen remote server. In the Viewer connection settings, the VNS server address and transmission speed are set.

It should be noted that TightVNC does not generate an access password, you need to define it yourself in the settings. The connection status can be recognized by the icon displayed in the notification area: if at least one user is connected to the computer, the colors of the icon change.

The developers hint that data transfer via VNC, despite the initial DES password protection, is imperfect. For security reasons, it is recommended to use SSH tunneling. At the same time, TightVNC settings can reduce the likelihood of unauthorized access to zero. In future versions of the program, it is also planned to introduce more reliable protection methods.

Summary

TightVNC surprises large quantity settings relating to connection, security. it a good choice for the administrator, but in terms of transferring to the server and further maintenance - not the best option for the inexperienced user.

Remote Utilities

Remote Utilities is a solution, according to the developer, designed for small and medium businesses. Remote control is possible directly via local network or the Internet. When working with a set of utilities, no firewall adjustment or pre-configuration is required.

The complex works only under Windows, for Linux it is proposed to install wine emulator- but only for working with RUT-Viewer. mobile version missing.

Remote Utilities consists of three modules: viewer - installed on local computer, host - remote, agent - module for user support. The agent, it should be noted, is optimal for quickly establishing communication between the client and the host. Remote installation, as well as updating, is a breeze thanks to the Remote installation tool.

Connection in one of the above modes is made using the New connection dialog (Connection → Add Computer), you can specify an IP address, Internet ID or DNS as an access point. The connected computer is added to the list. address book, from which in the future the selection of the necessary devices is carried out.

Provided regular tools for remote control such as remote device manager, registry viewer, terminal and file manager. A two-panel manager with the ability to copy and move data, launch and open applications and documents on a remote host. Also available support for terminals, power control.

Text chat is quite simple, but be aware that Remote Utilities also offers audio/video chats to users. Worth mentioning here is the ability to capture video and adjust the transmission quality - from 24-bit color to an optimized "picture" for a network with limited transmission (in addition, there is a Network usage mode parameter in the Properties settings of the remote computer). In a word, there are those features that have been listed more than once in similar programs with RDP support.

Remote Utilities assumes 3 types of authorization, AES encryption with a 256-bit key, a 2048-bit public key. Incoming connections are filtered by IP, you can also create a list of trusted users with different access rights. The security subsystem is optional: you can choose RUT or WinNT. Both modes allow you to flexibly configure access to certain functions for each user, there are no significant differences between them.

Summary

A simple set of utilities for remote connection, without choosing a connection protocol, but extremely clear in installation and configuration. Essentially, it lacks cross-platform and a user-friendly interface for working with multiple devices at the same time.

Remote access to a computer via the Internet will allow you to control your PC, even if it is thousands of miles away from your location.

The technology works on the principle of assigning a unique identifier to the user in the global network.

This data is used to connect to the remote control.

The function can be configured using system functions Windows operating system, and using additional programs(their use is usually free).

Notice! In order to access remote computer via another PC, the remote PC must be turned on and have an Internet connection. Also, the function or program that provides a remote connection must be connected on both devices. In the operating Windows system there is a built-in ability to configure a remote connection between two PCs.

Using the Internet ID feature in Windows

The Windows operating system has a built-in ability to set up a remote connection between two PCs.

The function is called Internet ID, it allows you to connect to the desired Host as quickly as possible.

However, all additional network protocols NATs are ignored by devices. This allows you to ensure a fast and uninterrupted connection.

Please note that the speed of a remote connection directly depends on the quality of the Internet connection.

Assigning a unique identification number on the network greatly simplifies the connection process. By using this feature, computers do not have to set up the reverse connection process every time.

Also, the Internet ID function is quite easy to use and even an ordinary user can configure its operation.

How does an Internet ID work? The connection of two computers occurs due to the connection to a single Host. The interface is displayed using the NAT protocol or a standard firewall.

Follow the instructions below to set up remote access to a PC using the Internet ID option yourself:

  • First you need to get an identifier with which two computers can establish a connection. The procedure for issuing an identifier is carried out by the host free of charge;
  • Some builds of Windows may not have a previously installed utility. You can download it from the link http://db.repairdll.org/internetidadmin.exe/ru-download-50.html .
  • Install the tool on both computers and get to work;
  • Once installed, a host icon will appear on the desktop toolbar. Click on it with the right mouse button and select the connection settings item;
  • Then, in a new window, click on the appropriate button to get an Internet ID. This procedure must be done on the computer from which another PC will be controlled;
  • After a few seconds, a window will appear with a text field, which will contain an identifier that provides a remote connection between two PCs. Remember it, because without specifying an identifier on another PC, you will not be able to set up a connection;
  • Now you need to perform several actions on the client personal computer (to which you will connect). Run the installed utility, select the operating mode as "Client";
  • Press the button for creating a new connection and in the window that opens, specify the name of the connection and the identifier itself. You can choose any name, and the Internet ID must match the one that was issued on the first PC. Press the OK key;
  • Next, the connection properties will open. Select the connection mode via ID, as shown in the figure below, and enter it again in the corresponding text field;

Now wait a few seconds and wait for the connection to complete. On subsequent attempts to gain remote access to another PC, it will be necessary to enter only the identifier on the administrator's side, and on the client side, select the previously created connection template.

In addition to the suggested method for setting up remote access, you can use special programs which are even easier to set up.

TeamViewer

TeamViewer is one of the most popular applications for creating a connection and working with remote access to a computer.

The program is also available on operating systems Android, IOS, MacOS, Windows and more.

Such cross-platform will allow you to provide access to a computer even from your phone. You can download the application for the desired OS from the link on official page developer https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows/ .

main feature utilities: the user does not need to deal with the client and server parts of the program separately. It is enough just to install the program on both computers and set up a connection in a few mouse clicks.

After the first activation, the application window displays a personal computer ID and an access password.

To connect to another computer, just enter its identifier in the Partner ID field and click the Connect button.

Advantages of TeamViewer:

  1. The presence of several modes of operation of two computers at once: remote access, file and folder transfer mode, VPN;
  2. During the connection, you can open a chat window, this will allow two users to communicate in real time without being distracted by other messengers;
  3. To provide full-scale system administration of another PC, you can connect the option of 24/7 remote access. In the inactive mode, the function consumes few resources and does not load personal computers;
  4. Speed and stable connection. Due to the availability of quality hosts, users do not face the problem of access failure (this only happens in case of a bad connection to global network Internet);
  5. Please note that TeamViewer cannot be used for commercial purposes. The developer has built into the program a utility for determining the commercial connection. If it is detected, access to the PC will be immediately blocked.

If you want to use the modules for corporate connection, you will need to buy a paid version of the application.

Ammy admin

This program allows you to access the remote control function of other PCs. The functionality is very similar to the Team Viewer described above.

Available modes of operation include the ability to view and remotely control another user's personal computer or laptop.

The program can be used without installing it on two devices. It is enough to open the portable version on computers. The utility is not intended for use in commercial organizations and enterprises.

Download Ammy admin You can visit the official website of the developer at http://www.ammyy.com/ru/.

To get started, run Ammy admin on both computers. Then enter the ID of the server computer on the client computer. Click on the "Connect" button. The connection diagram is also shown in Figure 8.

This application is more suitable for organizing a one-time connection than for long and regular work. Among the advantages over other similar software are a simplified connection process, an intuitive interface and high speed.

Among the shortcomings of the application, it can be noted that it is not available on mobile devices and tablet PCs. There is also no folder and file transfer mode.

The use of the program is limited to fifteen hours per month. Such a function is organized to eliminate the possibility of commercial use.

Lite Manager

This utility has a user-friendly interface and big set options. The application has two parts: for separate installation on the server and client side.

Unlike previous utilities, using LiteManager will be more appropriate for more advanced users who need to organize regular access to a remote computer.

Also, unlike TeamViewer and Ammy admin, a unique identifier for the server PC is assigned only once (at the first start). In the future, it does not change. This will allow you to quickly remember it and in the future not have problems with its introduction on the client side.

Also, users have the opportunity to independently set their own identifier on the network.

The program itself is paid, however, if you do not need to use it for commercial purposes, you can download the LiteManager Free version. It is free and its operation is limited only by a filter that determines a possible commercial connection.

The application presents a large number of modes for connecting two PCs, namely:

  1. Remote access;
  2. Data transfer;
  3. Chat organization mode;
  4. Ability to access the registries of two PCs;
  5. Task Manager.

The program also provides a real-time screen recording function, inventory options and installation of programs on a client PC using a server. Among the shortcomings of the program, one can note its absence on mobile operating systems.

RAdmin

This software is one of the first programs whose developers were able to organize uninterrupted remote access to a PC using the Internet.

The main advantage of the utility is the organization of network security and protection against unauthorized copying of data by an intruder.

All transmission channels are protected by cryptographic algorithms.

Also, the application has a very good speed. The first connection occurs in a matter of seconds. You also have the opportunity to access the BIOS of a remote computer.

The utility cannot set up a connection without specifying the IP address of the server PC, that is, connection by ID is not possible.

All modern applications for working with remote access are characterized by fast operation and a convenient user interface.

Choose the appropriate connection method, based on whether it will be regular or one-time.
