Black screen when loading Windows: what to do if the computer does not turn on. Black screen when you turn on your computer? What to do? What to do if the black screen

There is a very common problem among PC owners - you turn on the computer and see black screen on boot.

What are the reasons for such a failure and what to do in this situation is the main topic of this article.

Problems when booting the system

The problem has a wide range of factors that provoke it.

In addition, a black screen can also be displayed in different ways, such as with or without a cursor.

Let's take a closer look at the main causes of failure:

  • Internal error at work operating system, due to which it fails to adequately interact with the graphical environment;
  • Video card driver failure (incompatible with installed version Windows);
  • Damage to the internal drive of the computer;
  • Critical violation Windows work OC, which prevents it from being adequately loaded even in safe mode;
  • Other conflicts of the PC hardware department;
  • The inability of the operating system to wake up from sleep mode.

Booting Windows in Safe Mode

Initially, you should try to secure boot systems.

Disconnect from computer external devices, as well as flash media, which could also be the cause of the conflict.

Shut down your computer to terminate all processes causing the black screen.

Then launch it again, at the very beginning of which be sure to press the F8 button on the keyboard (Delete, Shift + F8 - depending on the installed operating system).

In the Advanced Boot Options window, select the option you want.

In this case, Safe Mode.

If the computer starts in this mode without any problems, then we can assume that the settings of the system itself have failed.

This additionally includes the appearance of an error after next update in the OS registry, and drivers not working properly.

Here, activating the operating system is the first step towards fixing the problem.

Many people use an unlicensed copy of the operating system, the next update of which sometimes ends with a black screen.

This arises due to the impossibility of passing pirated copy» identification on the Microsoft website.

If this is the case, then after booting into safe mode, you will see a warning on the screen that you are using an unofficial version that should be licensed.

To get rid of the problem - activate your copy of the operating system.

Hardware malfunctions

Monitor and system unit

The black screen may be caused by hardware problems.

For example, due to poor contact between the monitor and the system unit, when it does not receive a signal from the video card.

Lack of normal contact between the monitor's network cable and the outlet

In this case, check the quality of all connections, and the presence of external damage to the screen, due to which the image may be missing.

If such a problem occurs on a laptop, then the reason is almost always not related to the display, since in order to damage it, it must be subjected to strong mechanical impact such as being dropped or hit.

In this case, the deformation of the monitor will be visible to the naked eye: colored stripes will be traced, areas with dead pixels, scratches, etc. .

On a computer, a black screen at logon can be caused by a failure of one of the constituent parts system unit, so it will need to be studied in detail.

First of all, attention should be paid to the video card, namely the reliability and density of its fastening in the slot motherboard, as well as the stability of the supplied voltage and cooling (if it is not passive).

Checking the operation of video card drivers

Check the status of video card drivers that may be conflicting with the system.

To do this, you need to restart the operating system in safe mode by activating the video mode support item with a low screen resolution in its menu.

Once logged in, go to the control panel.

To do this - right click on the menu "Start" and select from the list that appears "Device Manager" .

Choose there in the section "Video Adapters" installed video card and go to its properties window.

On the tab "Driver" click the button Delete.

Then restart your computer and install the factory drivers that came with your graphics card.

You can go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest version there.

If you don't know what drivers to look for, call the tab « Run» using a key combination Win+R.

Enter in the opening field

and click on the button " OK».

In this case, the DirectX Diagnostic Tools window will appear, displaying the name of the graphics card you have.

Using the information received, downloading the necessary ones is quite simple.

Eliminate possible conflict of software components

A characteristic feature of this option is that, after several attempts to restart, the computer still manages to start.

The “treatment” method will be approximately similar to the previous case, the only difference here is that you need to select the item in the Windows configuration section "Turn on safe mode» .

Then, in the top line, sort the installed software by download date.

Now, after looking at the list of installed software, you need to find the culprit of the problem and remove it.

The best way to do this is through third party programs, such as CCleaner, because with it you will get rid of all the residual elements after removal.

To get rid of a suspicious program, you need to go to the section "Tools - Uninstall programs" and choose the option you want.

Motherboard drivers

A black screen is sometimes the result of a conflict between the mother drivers and the system.

Repeat the previously described steps to uninstall and install a working program in their place.

Be careful when working with drivers, otherwise you cannot avoid a complete reinstallation of the operating system.

To protect yourself from this - ask checkpoint, to which, if necessary, it will be possible to roll back the system.

In the event that, after replacing the drivers, the black screen periodically continues to remind of itself - continue to search for the cause.

Try to remove all programs that can cause a system conflict, as well as test your computer for various malware.

Start the system again in safe mode and open the control panel by right-clicking on the " Start».

From present list select " Programs and Features' and click on it.

Carefully analyze which programs have been installed recently and can cause a conflict situation.

Remove them using standard Windows features or a third-party program.

One of the best so far is CCleaner.

The program is understandable and quite effective, allowing you to remove all the accumulated file garbage.

All that is required of you is to check the boxes in the section « cleaning» opposite the desired items.

After the analysis carried out by the program, press the button « cleaning» and wait for it to complete.

By going to the tab « Service» , you are free to choose the programs to be removed.

Select the one you want and click the button « Uninstall» .

Restoring the system registry

The intermittent appearance of a black screen may also be the result of some data being corrupted. system registry malware.

To get rid of this - you should restore it to a fully working state.

To do this, open « Task Manager» using a key combination Ctrl+Shift+Esc.

In the window that appears, go to the Applications tab. Here you will need to create a new task by clicking on the button of the same name and entering the value in the special field

In Windows 10, this is made easier. Right click on the menu « Start» and select from the list that appears « Run» .

In the input field, write

regedit

and press the button OK.

Windows Registry

The Registry Editor will open.

In it, you need to find a line with the name " Shell and double click on it.

When the window for changing the string parameter appears, delete all entries in the parameter " Shell”, and in the empty field enter

Explorer.exe

After that click on the button OK, saving the changes made.

The final step is to restart the computer, allowing the settings to take effect and debug the registry.

With correctly performed actions, the registry will be restored, and the black screen will no longer appear.

Restoring the system with third-party programs

debug work explorer.exe You can not only manually, but also with the help of a small AVZ utility.

It must first be downloaded and installed on your computer.

The main window of this antivirus utility contains several menu items, among which are the following:

  • File;
  • Service;
  • AVZGuard;
  • AVZPM;
  • Reference.

Choose an item « File» , and from the list that appears - » .

After that, the recovery function settings window will open, in which you need to activate the 8th and 16th lines (restoring Explorer settings and restoring the Explorer launch key).

By checking the checkboxes opposite them, it remains to click on the button Perform marked operations and wait for the end of the process. When it's done, be sure to restart your computer.

Autoload

It often happens that a program that is at startup, or a very large number of them, can cause a black screen to periodically appear.

Reduce the number of launches from Windows programs to a minimum and if that doesn't take away an existing error, then at least speed up the launch of the operating system itself.

It is easy to fulfill this condition using the command

msconfig

which should be written in the menu window "Run" .

By clicking on the OK button, you will be taken to the window "Windows Task Manager" , in which you should go to the tab.

This tab displays all programs participating in a joint launch with the OS.

Select all unnecessary programs and click on the Disable button.

System rollback

With the solution to the black screen problem often a simple rollback of the operating system to a restore point will help.

Although quite often users disable this function considering it almost useless.

But with its help it is sometimes quite possible to avoid reinstalling windows, returning to the moment of maximum stable operation.

It is quite possible to do this operation after loading the safe mode.

Conflict with antivirus

The inability to start often provokes a conflict between the OS and the installed antivirus program.

The latter sometimes erroneously blocks various system files.

To return the computer to a normal working state, you will need to complete some antivirus processes.

Using the button combination C trl+Shift+Esc open the task manager window and select on the tab " Processes» those related to antivirus - complete them.

Remember that this is a temporary measure and with the next start of the system they will be launched again. To avoid repetition, you should create certain exceptions for the antivirus application.

If you are using AVAST program- then it will look like this.

Go to the program settings window and select the active protection item.

Then go to screen tab file system and select a section "Settings" .

On the left side of this section, find the item "Exceptions" and click on it.

Add the following values to the input field - "C:\Windows\explorer.exe" and "C:\Windows\immersiveControlPanel\systemSettings.exe". Then click on the OK button.

In order for the explorer.exe process to start, you need to use the menu "Run" and enter the name of the process in a special window.

After pressing the OK button, you need to restart the computer.

Checking and removing viruses

Malicious programs, like no other, are the culprits of operating system failure.

Therefore, it is necessary to check not only the partition with the system, but the entire hard drive for their identification.

Can different ways carry out such a check.

One of them would be to use the utility 4MRecover, which is present on boot disk liveCD4MRescueKit.

Another option is hard check drive on another computer that has good anti-virus protection.

True, this is not very convenient, since you will have to remove the cover of the system unit and disconnect the disk itself.

Black screen during Windows reinstall

In this case, there are several solutions at once:

1. Use another media with the image for installation, or write a different version of the OS to it

2. Checking the Windows volume for bad sectors, as they can disrupt the installation process.

The USB flash drive or disk should be checked for other types of damage. For example, mechanical;

3. It is worth trying to choose another local disk as a system.

Fighting viruses and other malware

Fraudulent software is quite advanced and harms not only user data, but also important system utilities.

In this case, the cursor also occasionally appears, besides, it is even manageable.

A virus attack may not be confirmed, but it's still worth a try.

Nowadays, in the market of antivirus software components a lot, but it would be best to use the development of the laboratory Dr. web entitled CureIt.

With the help of it, the user is provided with the function of superficial analysis of files on a PC, and a more detailed check, this is what the start menu of the utility looks like:

If Windows won't boot, you need to take HDD and connect it to another PC.

Using this program is very simple: you just need to "HDD" , as well as the strength of the check.

If the above technique did not help, the reason should be looked for in something else.

Download

Create a recovery flash drive and reinstall Windows

One of the toughest methods among all those proposed is a complete reinstallation of the existing OS to a more stable one.

In our time, the need to burn the image to disk, now it is enough to simply create a flash drive with the installation program.

It is easy to do this with any specialized program.

Rufus

One of the best among all available is Rufus.

The utility, despite the scarcity of the external interface, does its job quite well.

Using it is very simple: you just need to go to the section "Device" select formatted in NTFS bootable volume and image file, and then press "Start" . View start page applications.

To the website

Ultra ISO

This program has a slightly larger arsenal of tasks than the previous one.

For creating bootable flash drive it must be reformatted to NTFS.

When you run the program, you will see the following window:

and press "Record hard image disk" ;

3. Choose the path to the image;

The worst option when a black screen appears is the failure of the hard drive.

Initially, this reason can be answered if the cursor is visible on the display, since this means that the device is functioning.

If you observe completely dark screen, most likely this provoked the fact that the drive simply does not work and, as a result, is not displayed in the system.

Definition of bad sectors

It should immediately be noted that bad sectors almost impossible to recover.

However, they can be closed for reading and writing, so they will not interfere further work. The origin of these damages has two natures:

  • logical. It occurs due to a mismatch between the ECC code and the contents of the sector. In fact, these fragments are not broken, but only temporarily unreadable, so they are subject to repair;
  • Mechanical. Broken sectors of this kind are caused by strong blows or strong shocks during operation. These particles are permanently out of order, so they cannot be repaired.

For finding and restoration in the operating room Windows system there is a built-in verification utility - CHKDSK.

This component is launched in two ways:

  • Through command line . To do this, call the "Run" menu with a combination of Win + R and enter cmd into it. In the window that opens, enter the following values: CHKDSK C: / where C - letter designation checked local disk;
  • Through the section properties in the tab "A computer" .

If the check shows that there are bad sectors in the PC memory, the utility will offer to restore or close them.

To prevent the occurrence of the damage in question, it is necessary to periodically clean the hard drives from accumulated dust and dirt.

Besides, solid state drives Falls are very bad, so you should try to prevent them.

To prevent logical damage, it is additionally necessary to defragment partitions from time to time, as well as optimize them.

By following these tips, you will greatly reduce the load on the hard drive and increase its durability.

Black screen when loading Windows 10

Some Windows 10 users complain that a black screen is displayed instead of the usual splash screen during the boot process. Most often, this problem haunts those who installed Windows 10 by updating more than old version OS.

If you have never encountered such a phenomenon as a black screen, namely, a black screen when Windows boot, then this does not mean at all that this cup will pass you by. Therefore, our note is intended both for those who have already encountered this problem, and for all other users. personal computer. Let's formulate the task more precisely: what to do if a black screen appears on the display while the computer is booting, and the further progress of starting the machine is impossible. Very often there is one white spot on this black background: a blinking cursor in the form horizontal line in the left upper corner screen. Such a black screen and the cursor plunged more than one user into despondency.

At first glance, the situation seems deadlocked. In practice, it turns out that the way out of it is quite simple. Moreover, there are not one, but several recipes for dealing with a dark display on a computer at the beginning of a startup. We will look at some of them, namely those that lead to success in the most direct way. There are many different problems that can occur when starting a computer, but this one is one of the most infamous. For the simple reason that a neophyte from IT is unlikely to find ways to solve it on his own. So, let's take a closer look at this topic.

The place where the problem is solved

To localize the problem, you need to access the Windows interface in any way. The only question is how to do this if the system does not want to start. The answer in this case is simple: use the safe mode service. For those who do not know what it is, we will give some explanations. The safe mode of the computer is a mode of operation in which only the most necessary components are loaded into memory. If Windows, in principle, is capable of showing signs of life, then turning on in safe mode will certainly be possible.

To go to a safe moment when starting the computer, you need to hold special key(usually the F8 key). In this case, the following picture will appear on the screen with options:

One of the options is the safe mode of operation. There are several variations of this mode, with or without network infrastructure support, with or without command line support. We need the one labeled simply as "Safe Mode". Use the arrows on your keyboard to move the cursor to this option and press "Enter". After that, you may have to wait.

Failed Authentication

If you are using a non-licensed system from version 7, then each system update will send information about the authenticity of your license to Microsoft. What if you don't have such a license? If you use ineptly "cracked" Windows, which literally yells about it all over the Internet? There are three solutions to this problem:

  • Disable system update.
  • Purchase a license.
  • Use a special program that cracks the licensing system.

Both that, and another, and the third are quite simple to do. But our advice to you: pay money for the license and don't worry about anything else. The slogan: "Pay and not worry" could be written in large letters on the Microsoft logo. If you do none of the above, then any solution to the black screen problem will prove to be temporary. After the next update, you will see this screen again.

The OS will notify you that it is aware of your license issues when starting in safe mode. Firstly, the usual background image will disappear, and secondly, a warning message will appear at the bottom of the screen. Here it is:

An example of a cracking program: the RemoveWAT21 utility can be searched on the Internet.

Reason: video card

What should I do if a black screen appears under the condition of having an OS license? I must say that there are many reasons for the appearance of blackness on the display: one of them is the video card of your computer. More precisely, drivers for the video card. Damaged or "flying" video adapter drivers inevitably lead to problems of this kind, like ours. If the problem is really in the video card, then you need to restore the damaged driver, preferably by downloading it latest version on the adapter manufacturer's website. For uninformed citizens, here is a list of video card parameters that you should be guided by when installing the driver:

  • Adapter manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, etc.).
  • OS type: Windows, Linux.
  • OS version: XP, 7, 8, 10.
  • Bit depth of the computer processor: 32 or 64 bits.

All these parameters will need to be specified on the page of the card manufacturer's website from which the driver will be downloaded. To determine the manufacturer, it is enough to have the DirectX library installed on the system. Type the following command in the Run box: dxdiag. A window similar to this will appear:

The "Manufacturer" field contains the manufacturer of the equipment.

Reason: broken registry

We move on. You entered the safe registry, everything is in order with the license, you updated the video card drivers, but Windows still does not boot - a black screen appears. How to start Windows, how to restore its work? Perhaps the black screen of the computer began to appear due to the accumulated critical errors in the system registry.

For those who do not know what a registry is, we give help: Windows registry- a special database containing the settings of both the system itself and the programs installed in it. Data in the registry can also be corrupted by a virus.

You can get to the registry data using the registry editor, which is called in the "Run" window with the regedit command. An editor window will appear on the screen:

This window has a left pane with a tree of registry keys and a right pane with registry keys in a key-value format. We will be interested in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon section. And the key in this section is called Shell. If this key is empty, then we drive the string "explorer.exe" into its value, and save the changed data. All this is done, as usual, in safe mode. After that, we restart the computer. After that, a system restore should occur and the normal boot progress should be restored.

AVZ Utility

When, after loading Windows, a black screen and a cursor begin to appear, you can try using the AVZ utility. This multifunctional program can help in many situations. Usually, after restoring the system with its help, everything starts working normally. But this is a topic for another conversation. Here we only indicate the very possibility of its use. We hope our article was useful to you and the black screen disappeared from your monitor.

Today I would like to discuss with you the reasons why the computer turns on, but there are no images on the monitor. In other words, "a black screen hangs."

The black screen when you turn on the computer is not always the same. It can be divided into 3 parts:

  1. Black screen due to the fact that the power connectors for the monitor are not properly plugged into the outlet and into the monitor itself, or the monitor is not connected to the computer with a cable.
  2. Black screen immediately after pressing the power button. That is, the monitor turned on, but there are no initial splash screens of the motherboard, inscriptions and numbers before the operating system is loaded. This is a hardware level issue. Most often in this case, the sign "No signal" hangs. It is also possible that the computer starts beeping. The signals may be different. Below, we will analyze in more detail how to restore the computer.
  3. The computer turns on as usual, there is an initial splash screen of the motherboard (not all computers should have it, so don't be scared), inscriptions, numbers run, and after all this goodness, the normal system boot begins. After that, a black screen just hangs, and sometimes a black screen with a cursor. It is not excluded the appearance This problem most likely the software level and it is quite easily eliminated, except when the hard drive has come to an end and the computer simply cannot read information from it.

Causes of the black screen.

Below I will write absolutely all the reasons due to which a black screen pops up when you turn on the computer, and then we will consider each of them in detail.

  1. Your computer needs to be cleaned of dust.
  2. Faulty video cable (VGA, HDMI, DVI) or monitor.
  3. Bad video card.
  4. A problematic program or driver.
  5. A problem with hard drive.
  6. Other hardware failures.

Now, let's look at each of these reasons in turn. Go!

  1. Your computer needs to be cleaned of dust.

The computer turns on, but instead of the usual boot, a black screen hangs? This is a fairly common problem. In 80% of cases, this is due to the fact that accumulated inside the system unit a large number of dust. In this situation, you need to pull out all the computer components from their connectors, remove the cooler and processor heatsink, and then thoroughly blow them and the system unit itself from dust using a special can of compressed air. (sold in any self-respecting computer store) You can find out how to do this in the article "" Also, I would advise you on the processor, video card and other chips, (where it is required) and also (if necessary).

  1. Faulty video cable (VGA, DVI, HDMI) or monitor.

Perhaps the reason that the computer turns on, and a black screen hangs on the monitor, is a faulty video cable.

It is of three types:

In order to test this theory, you need to connect the system unit using this cable not to a monitor, but to a TV. Or just borrow a known working cable from a friend.

In the same way, by the way, they check the computer monitor.

  1. Bad video card.

This cause also causes a black screen when the computer is turned on.

The fastest and most effective way to test a video card for performance is to substitute another video card in its place. If an image appears when you turn on the computer, go to the store for a new video card.

  1. A problematic program or driver.

This reason, due to which the computer turns on and then a black screen appears, is fundamentally different from all of the above and below described. The fact is that the problem is most likely at the software level. Remember what you did the last time the computer was working? Perhaps you downloaded something, installed something, or deleted something. A black screen with a cursor most often occurs when the graphics card driver is corrupted. In order to correct this misunderstanding, you should go into safe mode. To do this, restart the computer and as soon as it starts to turn on again, press the F8 key. The launch menu will open in front of you. It may look different. (it depends on what system is on your computer)

So this menu looks like on Windows 7.

After the computer has booted into safe mode, you need to do a system restore. An article on how to do it right lies

If the computer does not boot into safe mode, then 2 options are possible:

  • System damage is too global (in this case, you should and But before you do this, you should check the hard drive for errors and fix them. (If possible) It is also possible that after correction errors - system will start as usual.)
  • Hard drive problem (read the article below)
  1. Hard drive problem.

A black screen on a computer monitor may also indicate that something is wrong with the hard drive. To check and try to troubleshoot, the Victoria4.46b program is used. The video below describes in great detail and shows how the program works. I will only add that in order to restore damaged sectors (errors), you will need to put the switch in the Remap position before starting the test.

By the way, the video shows how to check the hard drive during a working operating system. But Windows does not work for us. In order to check the HDD without loading the system, we need to write the Victoria 4.46b program to disk in a special way (the Internet is full of instructions on how to do this) and it will not boot from the hard disk, as we usually do, but from the disk Where is Victoria. How to boot from disk read

  1. Other hardware failures.

If you, in turn, tried all the methods that are described in this article and nothing helped you, then most likely there was a serious hardware failure. You should take the computer to service center for diagnostics. Specialists will check everything and tell you which part should be replaced.

This is where my article comes to its logical conclusion. I hope it helped you to remove the black screen from your computer monitor. Thank you for attention! Good luck!

Sometimes, when booting the system, users encounter such an unpleasant problem as the appearance of a black screen, on which only the mouse cursor is displayed. Thus, it is simply impossible to work with a PC. Consider what are the most effective ways fix this problem in Windows 7.

Most often, a black screen appears after the welcome screen has been opened. Windows window. In the vast majority of cases, this problem is caused by an incorrectly installed Windows update, when some kind of failure occurred during the installation. This results in the inability to start system application explorer.exe ( "Windows Explorer"), which is responsible for displaying the graphical shell of the OS. Therefore, instead of a picture, you see just a black screen. But in some cases, the problem can be caused by other reasons:

  • Damage to system files;
  • Viruses;
  • Conflict with installed apps or drivers;
  • Hardware malfunctions.

We'll look into ways to fix this issue.

Method 1: Restoring the OS from under "Safe Mode"

The first method involves using "Command line" launched in "Safe Mode", to activate the explorer.exe application and then roll back the OS to working condition. This method can be used when the device has a restore point created before the black screen problem.

  1. First of all, you need to go to "Safe mode". To do this, restart your computer and when you turn it on again after sound signal hold down the button F8.
  2. The shell for selecting the type of system boot will start. First of all, try activating Last Known Good Configuration by using the arrow keys on the keys to select the indicated option and pressing Enter. If the computer starts normally, then consider that your problem is solved.

But in most cases it doesn't help. Then, in the boot type shell, select the option that involves activation "Safe Mode" with the support "Command line". Next click Enter.

  3. The system will start, but only a window will open "Command line". Drive into it:

    After entering, press Enter.

  4. The entered command activates "Conductor" and the graphical shell of the system will start to be displayed. But if you try to restart again, the problem will return, which means that you should roll back the system to a working state. To activate a tool that can perform this procedure, click "Start" and go to "All programs".
  5. Open folder "Standard".
  6. Enter the directory "Service".
  7. In the list of tools that opens, select "System Restore".
  8. The start shell is activated regular tool OS recovery where you should click "Further".
  9. Then a window is launched where you should select the point to which the rollback will be performed. We recommend that you use the most recent version, but one that must have been created before the black screen issue occurred. To expand your choice, check the box "Show others...". After highlighting the name of the optimal point, press "Further".
  10. In the next window, you only need to click "Ready".
  11. A dialog box will open where you must confirm your intentions by clicking "Yes".
  12. The rollback operation will begin. At this time, the PC will restart. After turning it on, the system should start in standard mode, and the black screen problem will disappear.

Method 2: Restoring OS files

But there are times when the OS files are so badly damaged that the system does not boot even in "Safe Mode". It is also impossible to exclude such an option that you simply may not have the necessary recovery point on your PC. Then you should perform a more complex procedure for resuscitating the computer.

  1. When starting the PC, move to the boot type selection window, as demonstrated in the previous method. But this time, from the presented items, choose "Troubleshooting..." and press Enter.
  2. The Recovery Environment window opens. Choose from the list of tools "Command line".
  3. The interface opens "Command line". In it, enter the following expression:

    Be sure to click Enter.

  4. The shell will start "Registry Editor". But you need to remember that its sections will not refer to the current OS, but to the recovery environment. Therefore, it is required to additionally connect the registry hive of the Windows 7 that needs to be fixed. For this in "Editor" highlight section "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".
  5. After that press "File". In the list that opens, select "Load hive...".
  6. The Load Hive window opens. Navigate in it to the section of the disk on which your operating system is located. Next, go to the directories sequentially Windows, "System32" and "Config". If, for example, your OS is on drive C, then the full path to navigate to should be:

    C:\Windows\system32\config

In the directory that opens, select the file called "SYSTEM" and press "Open".

  7. . Enter in its only field any arbitrary name in Latin or using numbers. Next click OK.

  8. After that, a new partition will be created in the folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Now you need to open it.
  9. In the directory that opens, select the folder setup. In the right part of the window, among the elements that appear, find the parameter "cmd line" and click on it.
  10. In the window that opens, enter the value in the field cmd.exe without quotes, then click OK.
  11. Now go to the parameter properties window "SetupType" by clicking on the relevant item.
  12. In the window that opens, replace the current value in the field with "2" without quotes and click OK.
  13. Then return to the window. "Registry Editor" to the section that was previously connected, and select it.
  14. Click "File" and choose from the dropdown list "Unload bush...".
  15. A dialog box will open where you need to confirm the decision by clicking "Yes".
  16. Then close the window "Registry Editor" and "Command line", thus returning to the main menu of the recovery environment. Click the button here.
  17. After rebooting the PC will automatically open "Command line". Enter the command there:

  18. The computer will be checked for the integrity of the file structure. If violations are detected, the procedure for restoring the corresponding element is automatically activated.

  19. After the restore is complete, enter the following command:

    shutdown /r /t0

    Click Enter.

  20. The computer will restart and turn on normally. At the same time, it is important to consider that if the system files were damaged, which caused the black screen, then, quite possibly, the virus infection of the PC could be the root cause of this. Therefore, immediately after restoring the computer's performance, check it with an anti-virus utility (not a standard anti-virus). For example, you can use Dr.Web CureIt .

If none of specified methods did not help, in this case you can produce Windows installation 7 over a working operating system with all settings saved, or complete reinstallation OS. If these actions did not work, there is a high probability that one of the hardware components of the computer is out of order, for example, a hard drive. In this case, it is necessary to repair or replace the broken device.

The main reason for the appearance of a black screen when booting the system in Windows 7 is incorrect installed update. This problem is "treated" by rolling back the OS to a previously created point or by performing a file recovery procedure. More radical actions also involve reinstalling the system or replacing computer hardware.

Description

When Windows boots (after the logo or login to account) a blank black screen (or a black screen with a cursor) appears.

The problem is relevant for all used Windows versions from XP to 10.

Cause

  1. By default, the wrong monitor is selected.
  2. Unsuccessful installation of Windows updates or graphics driver.
  3. Aggressive behavior of the anti-virus system.
  4. Damage to the explorer.exe file or its autorun.
  5. Software conflict.

Solution

Look out for similar symptoms.

  • If we observe a black screen immediately when the computer is turned on (there is no Windows splash screen or BIOS), go to the article The computer does not turn on.
  • If the boot hangs before the operating system splash screen, possibly with a blinking cursor (underscore), the problem may be with the disk drive or bootloader. For more information, see the instruction Booting up the computer hangs on the splash screen or a black background with a blinking cursor.
  • If a menu on a black background is loaded in front of us, we try to select the normal Windows boot.
  • If there is text with an error code on a black background, you need to study it using a search engine.

Below are solutions for the situation when Windows has booted up, but instead of the desktop, we see a blank black screen without inscriptions and text (only the arrow of the mouse cursor may be present).

1. Reboot

Before proceeding with the solution, try restarting the computer again - it is quite possible that the problem will be solved.

2. Restoring system files

As a result of the loss of part of the files of the operating system, it may become unstable, in particular, it may not load Explorer, leaving us with a black screen.

To check the system for the presence of corrupted files or their absence, run the command prompt as an administrator and enter the command:

3. Update Windows or video card driver

If the problem started after windows updates or install / update the driver for the video card, start the computer in safe mode and try:

a) uninstall the video card driver. To do this, go to the Device Manager (command devmgmt.msc) - open Video adapters- remove the used adapter:

After we restart the computer and install a new driver.

b) remove the latest patches. For this we open Control Panel(command control or use Windows search) - Programs - Programs and Features - Installed updates:

Sort updates by installation date and remove the latest installed:

4. Multiple displays and default monitor

a) Press the combination WIN+P- a window for selecting the mode of operation of multiple displays will open on the right. Trying to choose Only computer screen or Second screen only:

b) When using multiple monitors, we try to disable everything except the main one and restart the computer. If the image appears, check the setting of the main display.

5. Remove antivirus

In some cases, malware removal tools can cause an important system file to be blocked.

Trying to delete antivirus program. To do this, try to enter safe mode. For reliability, it is worth downloading a specialized utility for removing antivirus from the developer's website.

6. Problem with Windows Explorer

Explorer is the main program in Windows responsible for displaying windows. If it malfunctions, you may experience problems with an empty desktop display.

7. Antivirus check

We check the computer for viruses. To do this, you can use one-time utilities, for example, CureIt.

8. Disabling Fast Startup or Hibernation

Fast startup allows you to save the state of the system, which in turn allows it to boot faster. In some cases, such a launch of the system can lead to problems of a different nature. They are solved by disabling the fast start mode.

We make the necessary settings on the command line. First, we try to disable hibernation mode:

And we restart the computer. If it boots normally, you can try to enable hibernation again with the command:

If disabling hibernation did not solve the problem, try disabling quick launch. In Windows 8 and earlier versions of 10, this could be done in the power settings. In new versions, only through the registry, so we will analyze this particular method as a universal one.

Launch the command line and enter the command:

reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /v HiberbootEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

* with this command we set the value 0 parameter HiberbootEnabled in a branch HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power.

Let's try to reboot.

9. Autostart apps

10. Reinstall Windows

If the previous options did not help solve the problem, reinstall the system.

If there is valuable information on the disk, you can boot from Windows disk LiveCD and copy data to external media. After reinstall Windows.
