Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device’s position in space. As the main function, the accelerometer is used to automatic change orientation of the image on the display (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer; it can control various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures rotation angles relative to a fixed coordinate system. Capable of measuring rotation angles in several planes simultaneously. A gyroscope together with an accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. Devices that use only accelerometers have lower measurement accuracy, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor that sets the optimal brightness and contrast values for this level illumination The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to your face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental clicks. The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the direction of the world in which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the magnetic poles of the Earth. The information received from the sensor is used in mapping programs for terrain orientation.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for precise measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system, allows you to determine altitude above sea level and speed up location determination.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System - global positioning system) - satellite system navigation, providing measurement of distance, time, speed and determining the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine location by measuring distances to an object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the delay time of signal propagation from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the antenna of the GPS receiver.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American system GPS navigation. GLONASS is designed for operational navigation and timing support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchrony) with the rotation of the Earth, which provides them with greater stability.

    Good-looking, strong screen and case (I fell into the sand many times, too, nothing happened), although I always carried it in a case. I have many applications open at the same time - everything flies. Two SIM cards. Wi-Fi and network reception is very good

    I've been using it for 4 years, I reset it to factory settings 3 times, I'm looking for a replacement (it's not just that it's started to glitch, it's a complete mess, WF resets very often, the Internet is terribly slow, and when I had the new one there were no complaints, and this is considering that I don't play games , I only look at WhatsApp and the weather sometimes on social networks, in general it hangs very badly for about 20 minutes, even the restart does not work.

    1) the battery charge 2) from the moment of purchase it slows down (at the time of purchase it was my first smartphone and I thought that it should be like this) 3) in the cold it discharges in a matter of seconds and it doesn’t matter how much interest you have. I came out with 100%, after walking for 10-20 minutes it discharges, despite the fact that it is in the inner pocket of my jacket. After using it for 2 years, it began to discharge and at a temperature of -1 4) I didn’t detect vibration at all, it was as if it wasn’t there 5) the speakers, well, they’ll do just fine

    A year later, shoals began to emerge. The battery began to last 2/3 days (the Internet is always on), sometimes it will reboot itself, sometimes it does not react to anything and only removing the battery helps. For a couple of days the interlocutors did not hear me, the same thing happened. In the cold it took about half an hour to sit down.

    4 years ago

    The camera is terrible, especially the front camera, the battery is not enough for a day, even if you don’t use the phone at all, the Internet will be turned off and the brightness will be at 0, and if you work in it, then for 4 hours maximum. Often you have to reboot due to glitches and it may cut off at 50% of the battery and will not turn on without charging. Paint peels off quickly

    Memory card! You CANNOT transfer anything from your phone to a memory card. This is truly terrible.

Just a year ago, dual-SIM smartphones accounted for at most a quarter of the smartphones presented in Ukraine (according to the database on qp.ua). By mid-2013, their number was almost half, and in terms of equipment, the oldest models with support for two SIM cards are already two steps away from the top segment. However greatest number offers can still be found in the mid-low price segment. Here, mainly second-tier brands have actively tried, filling the 1500-2500 UAH segment with interesting, but rapidly replacing each other models, and of the A-brands, only Sony does not show much interest in supporting two SIM cards. LG offers its L line smartphones in two versions, differing from each other not only in the number of SIM slots, but also in the shape of the case. At the end of last year, HTC released Desire SV, an interesting, but so far the only dual-sim model that has managed to fall in price to the price category that interests us. Samsung presented as many as three models (and all duos) in the above-mentioned segment in 2013, which more than openly hints at demand. These are the Galaxy Ace 3 with a 4-inch screen (review) and the Galaxy Win (review) with a 4.7-inch display and Galaxy Core. Something between them in size (4.3-inch display), price and equipment. This is what we will be talking about in this review.

Specifications

Like Samsung Galaxy Win, Galaxy Core works out of the box Android control 4.1.2. The model was presented a little earlier than the younger one Galaxy Ace 3, apparently that’s why it received an earlier version operating system. Let's hope that the update is not far off, although there is no big grief in Android 4.1, the difference between both versions is small, but the updated TouchWiz for Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is even more convenient, and some of its functions are no longer missing when returning to old version. For user data, the smartphone has 8 GB of internal memory, which is unusually good for an inexpensive device. The heart of the smartphone is a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon S4 processor, and the graphics are Adreno 203. For its price category and for a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, this solution looks normal and predictable. By the way, according to the characteristics mentioned above, the smartphone is identical to its closest competitors LG Optimus L7 II Dual and HTC Desire SV (although the latter costs a little more than both).

Appearance

You can't expect any surprises from Samsung designers. The manufacturer's features are clearly visible in the smartphone. The case is not compact for its size, but it fits well in the hand. Of course, today a 4.3-inch display is no longer called large. In addition, Samsung was among the first manufacturers of large-diagonal smartphones to realize that the location of the screen lock button on the right would be more convenient than on the top.

The only surprise for me was the color of the plastic of the case. We tested the blue Core. It looks fresh, interesting and much cooler than the faceless Chinese Fly or glossy and therefore tacky Prestigio smartphones- that is, smartphones that are presented in the same price category as Core and also have support for two SIM cards. It seems to me that this is the first time in my history on gg, when the body design Samsung smartphone I count it as a plus for the model. The only disappointing thing is the tendency of both the case and the smartphone screen to collect fingerprints. Well, in terms of the nobility of materials, the case is still inferior to HTC, but raising this eternal topic of plastic vs everything else is already boring once again. In the gallery below - photos appearance Galaxy Core. In several pictures next to it is a Samsung Galaxy Win, owner of a 4.7-inch display.

It is noteworthy that the use of micro SIM cards has already reached the middle segment of Samsung smartphones. In Galaxy Core, both slots are designed for this format.

Screen

TO Galaxy screen Core I have a twofold attitude. By today's standards, it is considered grainy - but Samsung's 2012 flagship device, Galaxy S II, had exactly the same screen: 4.3-inch, with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, 217 ppi. Unless the technology was different - for flagship smartphones Samsung uses Super AMOLED displays, for simple models - TFT. This display looks normal even against the background of IPS displays in Chinese smartphones in the same price category, if you do not take into account the fact that they usually have a higher resolution. In bright sunlight, the Galaxy Core display feels good and remains readable. For clarity, I provide photographic evidence. The photo below shows the Samsung Galaxy Gore, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini on a fine summer day in direct sunlight.

Although, by the way, measurements with our colorimeter did not show the best result: 330.37 cd/m2 - this is a confident “average”.

Device nameWhite field brightness,
cd/m2
The brightness of the black field,
cd/m2
Contrast
Samsung Galaxy Core I8262 330,37 0,51 654:1
Huawei Ascend Mate 454,76 0.58 791:1
Huawei Ascend D2 310,52 0.30 1037:1
Sony Xperia ZL 394 0.66 596:1
Samsung Galaxy S4 320 0
Sony Xperia T 421 0.28 1503:1
iPhone 4S 434 0.53 818:1

In terms of other indicators (color temperature, color gamut, color accuracy) - the same parsley. The smartphone does not shine, but it demonstrates quite typical and decent results for the screen of an inexpensive smartphone. The “Chinese” have it better and worse, it doesn’t happen all the time. In older Samsung models With TFT screen There have been better indicators. Unfortunately, the LG Optimus L7 II Dual and HTC Desire SV visited our editorial office even before the colorimeter appeared in it, so I cannot compare with them.

Performance

The performance of the smartphone can be said to be approximately on par with its competitors. With both the LG Optimus L7 II Dual and the HTC Desire SV, the difference is small (it is in favor of Samsung) due to the slightly smaller amount of RAM (768 MB per brother) and lowered to 1 GHz clock frequency processor. And with those “Chinese” with a price tag of about 2000 UAH, in whose heart beats a dual-core Mediatek MT6577 processor, and the amount of RAM, depending on the display resolution, is 512 MB or 1 GB. Fly has recently had about five such models, and other competitors (Prestigio and Highscreen, Russian brand) are not lagging behind. Performance test results can be seen below.

If we talk about live impressions, then for a person who has this first smartphone or who has had other relatively inexpensive devices in their hands that were released a year or two ago, the performance of the Galaxy Core will not seem insufficient. Of course, after using flagship devices more than slow work The Galaxy Core interface is striking. But by and large, everything is quite at the level of the price category, and is already a big step forward compared to last year’s models. HD video is played on the smartphone, not the most demanding toys are available.

Competitors and line neighbors

Now to the question of why in the review I constantly compare the Galaxy Core, an A-brand smartphone, with the “Chinese”. The fact is that it is included with most successful models, at least Fly, and at most also Prestigio, in the same price category. Where potential buyers are still sensitive to price, sometimes more sensitive than to brand.

Therefore, the competitors of this model are exactly split into two camps - these are two representatives of the A-brand - LG Optimus L7 II Dual and HTC Desire SV. Although HTC is close in price to the Galaxy Win - an older model. In essence, it is close to Core and L7 II Dual. The same display diagonal, approximately the same “filling”, but a weaker battery and “antediluvian” Android 4.0. But many potential buyers will like the more noble body of the device, and some will prefer the TouchWiz Sense interface. In addition, LG and HTC smartphones have an 8-megapixel camera, while Samsung equipped its model with a 5-megapixel camera, which is quite slow. And a 2460 mAh battery paired with a reduced processor frequency in the LG Optimus L7 II Dual smartphone can gain a few extra hours battery life- this indicator, in my opinion, for the owner of an Android smartphone should be more important than the camera resolution on a non-top smartphone, which will be mediocre in any case.

The second camp consists of smartphones from second-tier manufacturers. Here, for the same money, lovers of large diagonals can get a real “shovel” Fly IQ451 Vista with a 5-inch HD display and a quad-core processor that demonstrates a different level of performance. Or a 4.5-inch, more pleasant, in my opinion, Fly IQ446 Magic, also equipped with a quad-core processor. Besides them, of course, there are other models, but they are less interesting and, in fact, outperform the Galaxy Core primarily in diagonal and display resolution. But in this case, I wouldn’t take cameras into account at all; it’s rare that a “Chinese” is ready to boast of a good result in this field (the exception is Huawei Honor 2 and Highscreen Explosion, perhaps). But it is worth considering that in real life low-cost audience Chinese smartphones and smartphones produced by A-brands do not always overlap - the issue of trust in the brand, habits and status of the manufacturer for some is more acute than megapixels, gigahertz and inches.

The closest relative of the Galaxy Core - Galaxy Ace 3 - differs from it in a more recent version of the OS out of the box (Android 4.2), but with a very small display - 4 inches. For those who are afraid of medium and large diagonals, but are looking for a fresh and inexpensive dual-SIM smartphone, this will be an excellent choice. Galaxy Win is a branded alternative to the “Chinese”, from which it differs for the worse primarily in its low display resolution - the same 480x800 pixels, but on a 4.7-inch diagonal. In general, it is a quite adequate smartphone for its price (about 2500 UAH).

Video review of Samsung Galaxy Core

Bottom line

It turns out that in the price category of 2000-2500 UAH, first-tier smartphone manufacturers demonstrated dual-SIM models that were very similar in technical equipment. The difference between them is so symbolic (LG has better battery life, Samsung has better performance and memory capacity, HTC has better body materials, but a weaker battery and high price, Samsung installed a 5-megapixel camera instead of 8 MP), which you can safely choose specific model guided by personal sympathy for a particular manufacturer, familiarity with the interface, or the issue of price. And depending on these preferences, the Samsung Galaxy Core can equally likely become a desirable or, on the contrary, an unsuccessful choice.

3 reasons to buy Samsung Galaxy Core I8262:

  • good performance for an A-brand smartphone in this price category;
  • support for two SIM cards;
  • unexpected and interesting body color;

2 reasons not to buy Samsung Galaxy Core I8262:

  • weak camera;
  • a large number of more “sophisticated” devices from B-brands in this segment.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos SM-G355H has become the next model in the “galactic” line of the South Korean electronics giant. The smartphone, aimed at the budget price niche, went on sale in June 2014. Now you can buy the device for about $100. Our review will help you find out what the buyer will get for this money.

Externally, the device is practically no different from its neighbors in the series. It is made in a rectangular case with rounded edges, metal edging and an oval-shaped home button. At the back, near the camera window, the flash LED and speaker are located symmetrically. Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos presented in black and white colors.

Specifications Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos SM-G355H

Technical Samsung specifications Galaxy Core 2 Duos are quite ordinary for an inexpensive device. But at the same time, the device’s processor has four cores. In general, the filling of the smartphone is quite budget-friendly.

CPU

The use of Spreadtrum processors for Samsung is not something new. South Korean devices have been released using chips from this company before. This time, the manufacturer used the SoC SC7735 platform, which is the closest analogue of the Taiwanese MT6582. The technical differences between these processors are minimal: both have 4 cores of the same architecture and a Mali 400 graphics processing unit. The difference lies in the CPU frequency (1200 MHz for our hero, versus 1300 for the MT6582), and the number of GPU cores (2 for MTK versus 4 for Spreadtrum).

Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos should be slightly superior in performance (especially in games) to its competitors. But in reality the difference is not felt either by eye or in benchmarks. And the same AnTuTu shows an even lower score (15 thousand versus 17-18 for MTK). This is enough for games, but maximum settings Don't expect graphics.

Memory

Where budget and mid-range Samsung smartphones can stand out is the amount of RAM. 768 MB of RAM is almost impossible to find from other manufacturers. There is only one solution to this: Samsung, in addition to smartphones and household appliances, is also engaged in the manufacture of memory chips. Since today these 256 MB ones are no longer in use (to get 1 GB of RAM you need to solder as many as 4 chips on the board, and this is more difficult and more expensive than 1 1024 MB or 2 512 MB each), the company equips inexpensive devices of its own with its products. production. And the user is happy (after all, he receives not 512, but 768 MB), and the “illiquid” product is sold.

As for the practical meaning of “all these numbers” - here we can say that 768 megabytes is enough for the average user, but not enough for gamers and those who are used to “squeezing all the juices out” of a smartphone. Compared to the cheap devices remaining on sale with 512 MB, it looks attractive, but for 2015 it’s not enough.

About half of the 4 GB flash drive is provided for storing user content in the smartphone. Fortunately, the disadvantage free space compensates for the presence of a MicroSD slot. Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos supports flash drives with a capacity of up to 64 GB.

Battery

A 2000 mAh battery is normal for a budget employee. Moreover, the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos is not that large. The battery charge will last for 2 days in standby mode, about 8 – 10 hours of video playback and/or web surfing and about 5 hours of 3D games. For a $100 smartphone, that's not bad.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Core 2 doesn't deserve to be called a camera phone. 5 MP today is good for the front camera, but not the main module. At the same time, the pictures are not that bad. On a winter day there is almost no noise, just like in a properly “captured” summer landscape.

Example of a main photo Samsung camera Galaxy Core 2

The room is a little worse, but not downright bad. To be honest, we came across “Chinese” ones that even at 8 MP demonstrated disgusting quality. Therefore, we can safely assure: for 5 MP the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos camera good. Moreover, there is a flash, and autofocus is not possible.

The front module has a resolution of 640x480 and is intended purely for video communication. Trying to take a selfie good quality It’s not worth looking at - it’s better to turn the smartphone with the back side and “blindly” shoot five frames, each time tilting the device slightly to the side to catch your face in the center of focus.

Display

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos is budget, and has a resolution of 800x480 pixels with a diagonal of 4.5". This is not a typical Samsung AMOLED, but a classic TFT TN, so you should not expect ideal viewing angles, as well as reduced power consumption with a certain color theme .

Connection

Under back cover Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos hides two slots for SIM cards. They have a MicroSIM format, which is beneficial in terms of space saving. Because of this, owners of old format chips will have to go to the operator for a replacement or cut them themselves.

Network standards supported are GSM and UMTS/HSDPA. In addition, you can maintain a high-speed connection only from the first SIM card: the second is intended for voice communication. These are the features of budget radio modules.

Multimedia

The sound of the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos is truly “budget”. It's loud, it doesn't wheeze, but... frequency range let us down. Listening to music with headphones is much more pleasant - there is at least a hint of bass there. To be fair, it is worth noting that Samsung is not the only one guilty of this. So, among its competitors, the Galaxy Core 2 Duos deserves a solid six (out of ten). And considering that the smartphone also has a radio (unlike some flagships), the multimedia side cannot be considered a minus.

operating system

The operating system on the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos is Android 4.4. Naturally, it would not have been possible without the TouchWiz interface. The smartphone uses a stripped-down version of the shell, which is less functional than that of flagships, but given the small amount of RAM, this is not a minus, but a plus.

Pros and cons of Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos SM-G355H

Advantages of Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos:

  • good battery;
  • quad-core processor;
  • low price;
  • support for 64 GB memory cards;
  • good (for its class) camera.

Disadvantages of a smartphone:

  • mediocre display;
  • "dry" sound.

Our review of the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos SM-G355H

After Samsung review Galaxy Core 2 Duos, we can note that this inexpensive device corresponds to its class 100%. Compared to the flagships, it looks very modest, but if we are objective, we can’t call it bad. The Samsung Galaxy Core 2 Duos has everything that users who are not chasing megapixels, gigabytes and gigahertz need. For Internet surfing, working with email and social networks, watching videos - its capabilities are more than enough.
