Tablet tab a 6 difference. All tablets

In 2015, Samsung's tablet lineup has undergone a major overhaul. The company has significantly narrowed the number of models presented, although it is completely abandoning products of this type did not, despite a noticeable decline in sales. It is understandable - why do this if the Koreans occupy one of the leading positions there, and along the way are practically the only manufacturer flagship tablets, capable of seriously competing with the Apple iPad.

As a result, three lines were launched on the market: new and, as well as the development of the top series. The "cheapest" was the Galaxy Tab E with a single 9.6-inch tablet. Galaxy Tab A received noticeably stronger stuffing, but their design turned out to be subjectively worse, and at the same time the screen geometry changed there - there was a transition to a “square” ratio of 4:3. Moreover, Samsung saved on resolution by offering a miserable 1024x768 pixels. The Galaxy Tab S2 was also "squared", but the displays there turned out to be the best possible - Super AMOLED they are. Moreover, the devices have become the thinnest tablets in the world.

And here it is in the yard of 2016, which Samsung begins with another "confusion". The continuity of the lines is again violated, and it is completely incomprehensible why. In March, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) tablet is presented, which, as the name implies, has acquired a 7-inch screen. The company ignored this diagonal in 2015 and now decided to return. And everything would be fine, but in many respects this budget model. And initially it was held as the Galaxy Tab E 7.0, but after it was assigned to the A series. In general, let's figure out what's what and whether the new device deserves anyone's attention in principle.

Video review Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Before getting acquainted with the Samsung tablet in all details, we suggest watching its video review:

Design

I must say that in terms of design, Samsung tablets somehow do not stand out much. However, if you think about it, what is there to “stand out” at all? The ratio of the screen area to the area of the rest of the body is noticeably higher than that of smartphones, so there is nothing to “show design delights” on.

And if you also remember that the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is one of the cheapest Samsung tablets, it immediately becomes clear that this device is “not about design”. Indeed, one glance is enough to understand: the company obviously did not put much effort into its design.

However, this does not mean that the tablet is terrible or something like that - it just does not differ in any way from its predecessors. Before us is the most ordinary "Samsung", which has been seen more than once. Unless, according to the latest fashion, it has slightly narrowed bezels on the sides of the screen, and it is made in the format of a super-large smartphone, which is completely pointless if you have a Wi-Fi version.

There is nothing remarkable on the back either: there are technical inscriptions, a camera and a solid black cover. The lid is covered with an embossed texture with pitted holes so that it does not slip out. The touch is nothing unusual, but the tablet does not really slip out.

At the same time, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 is perfectly assembled and it is clear that the plastic used is of high quality. In this regard, there are no complaints about the device.

In terms of dimensions samsung tablet overall compact, but here it depends on what to compare. If with the flagship Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, then the hero of our review noticeably loses, and if you look at the numerous cheap crafts of little-known Chinese companies, then Tab A 7.0 looks noticeably better. In general, it has a thickness of 8.7 mm and a weight of 283 grams, which is the maximum average for such a tablet.

In total, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) can offer a long-familiar design, good assembly, relatively small thickness and weight. Not bad for an inexpensive solution.

Connectors and controls

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) does not have any special features in terms of ergonomics, everything is as usual here.

Above the screen is only the inscription Samsung and the front camera lens. The model SM-T285, the one with the communication module, still has a speaker.

Well-known buttons were placed under the screen: touch-sensitive application list and Back, as well as a mechanical Home. The latter does not have a built-in fingerprint scanner, and the first two are devoid of backlighting - the tablet, we recall, is budgetary.

At the back in the upper part is the rear camera lens, which is not supplemented by a flash. The tablet does not particularly need it, and even an inexpensive tablet is so even more so. To the left of the lens is an external speaker, only one.

On the left side is a slot for a microSD card.

It is covered with a traditional Samsung flap that flips up. To install a memory card, it must be pushed inward until a characteristic click. If you have any problems with this, then a small video instruction will help to solve them:

On the right, there are a few more buttons: two to adjust the volume and one to turn the device on / off.

All connectors are on top: 3.5 mm minijack for headphones and headset, as well as microUSB. We will not lament about the latter - if we had a smartphone in front of us, then such an arrangement would affect usability, while in the case of a tablet it does not matter.

At the bottom end there was a small hole for a spoken microphone.

We have nothing more to say about the ergonomics of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016). Here everything is within the normal range, it is convenient to use the tablet.

Case for Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Buying a case or cover for the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is difficult on the one hand, but easy on the other. It’s difficult because at the start there are almost none on sale, and with “simplicity” everything is also obvious - covers from other 7-inch Samsung tablets can fit this tablet.

Here is a leather case-bag will cost about 1600 rubles. Not very cheap, but looks good, and is a versatile option.

Such interesting covers-stands are also produced, they are also covers. It costs something about 1600 rubles.

In such a leather cover, the tablet begins to resemble a huge smartphone. Yes, and it costs decently - 3000 rubles.

Screen

In 2015, the Galaxy Tab A tablets were distinguished by one not the most pleasant circumstance - both models, 8.0- and 9.7-inch, received a screen with a low resolution of 1024x768 pixels. As a result, the display quality was not bad, but the picture is grainy, not at all as sharp as most similarly priced devices.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is somewhat different in this regard. First of all, the company returned to its more familiar aspect ratio of 16:10, without using the “square” version of 4:3. We don’t see anything wrong with either, except that the larger version is better suited for watching movies. As for the resolution, here we have 1280x800 pixels, which at a diagonal of 7 "gives a dot density of 216 ppi. Far from the record, but for an inexpensive tablet it is quite a tolerable option.

At the same time, the display here is definitely not as good as in older models. Although you can't call it bad - Samsung decided to install an inexpensive IPS-matrix, which gave a more or less decent picture at the output, but the colors on the display look a little whitish. Viewing angles are normal - we did not experience discomfort in their part. In addition, the screen has a good margin of brightness, which, however, did not save it in the sun - the picture on a fine day is difficult to see.

Objective measurements generally confirm our observations of the Galaxy Tab A 7.0. So the screen of the tablet turned out to have a very high brightness of 487.26 cd / m 2, which is an above-average result. True, at the same time, the black color is more like dark gray - this is not surprising with its brightness of 0.57 cd / m 2. If it had been one and a half times smaller, it would have turned out very cool, but no - the miracle did not happen. The final contrast ratio came out “on a four”, namely 855:1.

The color gamut of the display is entirely within the sRGB color space and in some places noticeably falls short of its borders. In other words, not all possible colors are displayed to them, hence, obviously, that “whitness”.

The color temperature looks good. Its excess relative to the optimal value of 6500K is not large - about 800-900K. In other words, the image is out of white balance, towards colder shades, but compared to most devices, the excess is negligible.

Another reason for the whitishness of the picture is the gamma curve, which passes noticeably higher than the reference curve 2.2. This means that everything on the screen is displayed brighter than necessary.

I'll never know how it happened that the display of an inexpensive tablet in general recognizes a "full set" of fingers. Usually here more than five simultaneous touches cannot be seen.

Screen settings also contain amazing items. On the one hand, automatic brightness control is not available to him, and on the other, there is a choice color profile, just like on Samsung devices with AMOLED matrices. However, we did not see any difference from changing the profile - perhaps this is a feature of the non-final firmware, where this section was not removed due to an oversight.

Basically Galaxy screen Tab A 7.0 (2016) worked for us. There are not enough stars from the sky, and even without automatic brightness control, but for your money it is quite an acceptable option.

Camera

Samsung considers that the camera in the tablet is purely nominal. And really, why does this “bandura” need a cool camera if there is always a smartphone at hand? In short, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 offers unpretentious 5 and 2 MP cameras.

The control application is typical when it comes to Samsung devices. Here you can select various effects and modes.

They even left the Pro mode, where you can adjust the white balance, ISO sensitivity and exposure compensation.

There are few settings for the camera. Let me remind you, she does not even have a flash.

The maximum resolution is achieved at an aspect ratio of 4:3, which is a common occurrence.

You know, it didn't turn out as bad as we expected. In the photo, we see the correct white balance, good color reproduction, and the sharpness is more or less decent. Even with room lighting, all the pictures are quite good.

Video is limited to 1280x720 pixels, which is also typical for Samsung tablets.

In principle, the video looks decent, although it would not hurt to add a little sharpness. Well, the resolution is not very high, yes.

The face sensor also takes pictures with an aspect ratio of 4:3, and there are simply no other options.

Photos from the front camera are worse, although you should not expect otherwise. But from a larger white balance is observed and even the frames have some kind of sharpness.

The video in front is limited to a very modest resolution of 640x480 pixels, also known as VGA.

Although at the same time it is quite high-quality, with good colors, without jerks and illumination, traditional for the front camera.

The cameras of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) are not bad, but with a lot of reservations: they have a low resolution, no flash. However, they are capable of taking a quick picture. And on it you, most likely, then at least learn something.

Specifications Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) was the first A-series tablet to be released in 2016. It must be assumed that it will be followed by updates to the 8.0- and 9.7-inch models, which, it is possible, can get a different screen ratio, and along the way, other diagonals. Meanwhile, the novelty has the designation SM-T280 for the Wi-Fi version and SM-T285 for the version with a 4G module.

We decided to compare the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 with the Galaxy Tab E 9.6, released in 2015, because they are very similar in many ways. Let's say more - Samsung originally intended to call the considered tablet Galaxy Tab E 7.0, but then for some reason moved it to a more advanced A series, meanwhile retaining its characteristics.

Our copy of the tablet got at its disposal a Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with four Cortex-A7 cores operating at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. This is not the first time we have encountered this chipset in Samsung products and, in principle, nothing bad can be said about it - this is a typical budget chip, not the fastest, but without serious flaws.

It should be noted that some sources report the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, which has four 64-bit Cortex-A53 cores operating at the same frequency of 1.3 GHz. Undoubtedly given processor much better, but we believe the 4G version of the Galaxy Tab A 7.0, labeled SM-T285, is equipped with it, or, alternatively, such a tablet is available in certain markets.

As for the Spreadtrum SC8830 video card, it is also unable to offer anything interesting. You get the old Mali-400 MP2 graphics core with a couple of execution pipelines. It, in addition to general slowness, also does not support modern OpenGL ES 3.0 APIs, and even more so 3.1 - only version 2.0. Recall that Adreno 306 from the Snapdragon 410 is devoid of this drawback, and, in principle, faster.

In terms of memory, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is again closer to "Eshka" than "Ashka" - it has 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory. Other Galaxy Tab A have a minimum of 16 GB of flash and 2 GB of RAM. From the point of view of a budget product, the proposed option is quite in trend, but it falls short of the average level for which the A series is positioned.

Our Galaxy Tab A 7.0 was deprived of the communication module with mobile networks, and therefore “wireless” is represented only by Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.0 standards. Most should be enough.

General Specifications budget tablet Samsung is not bad for its level. In theory, nothing will slow down, although flash memory is still not enough - you will have to use a separate microSD card.

Performance Testing

It makes no sense to compare the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) with other members of the A family - despite the year difference, they will still be faster. But to see how the speed of almost identical processors differs (in the Galaxy Tab E it is the same as in our tablet) in different versions Android (4.4 vs. 5.1 on a 7-inch tablet) will be interesting.

The old Smartbench 2012 showed mixed results. A system-wide run showed the superiority of the Galaxy Tab E, but the graphical component remained with the device in question by a small margin.

But other benchmarks unequivocally gave victory to the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016), especially the modern Antutu.

And for some reason, JavaScript in the browser worked better on old galaxy Tab E - really new chrome worse optimized?

An old electopia 3D toy showed that the Tab E's graphics card performed better. But what about the more complex 3D tests?

Obviously, with more modern games Galaxy Tab A 7.0 will do better. However, its superiority is not devastating, but in general the speed of the video card is still low.

The best autonomy, according to the Galaxy Tab E. In the Galaxy Tab A 7.0, it is noticeably worse. We believe that the point here is not at all in the 4000 mAh battery, but in the dampness of the firmware of our test specimen. We believe that the retail version would show a much better result - this should be taken into account when making a purchase decision.

As always, the maximum energy consumption fell on three-dimensional games. All other tasks consume approximately the same amount of energy - the screen is always very voracious.

In terms of power saving, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is a typical Samsung device. It is well optimized, and there are additional options in the settings, including an extreme power saving mode. The latter, however, looks a little comical - without an AMOLED screen, there is little benefit from it.

The performance of Samsung's 7-inch tablet deserves the epithet "normal". For my level, of course. There is nothing outstanding here, but we didn’t notice any problems either - the interface does not slow down, applications start more or less quickly. And what about the games?

Games on Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Games are one of the specialties of tablets, and therefore it is important that they work well. But with Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 the main problem lies in the small amount of built-in memory - 2-3 serious games will fit there at most.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 7: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 8: some delays are visible;

  • Modern Combat 5: Blackout: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • N.O.V.A. 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Real Racing 3: noticeable delays are visible;

  • Need for Speed: No Limits: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: did not start;
  • Frontline Commando 2: did not start;
  • Eternity Warriors 2: did not start;
  • Eternity Warriors 3: not available in the Play Store;

  • Eternity Warriors 4: some delays are visible;

  • Trial Xtreme 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Trial Xtreme 4: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • dead effect: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Effect 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: some delays are visible;

  • Iron Man 3: some delays are visible;
  • dead target: did not start.

As you can see, with more games work well. Something did not start, but we again attribute this to raw firmware - there should not be such problems on a Samsung tablet bought in a store.

ON

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) ships with Android 5.1. For the first half of 2016, this is not the most modern solution, and even after android release 6.0 has been a long time coming, but don't expect Samsung devices with the 6.0 before the middle of the year. We are talking about cheaper products than the Galaxy S7.

And so on top of the system, as always, the TouchWIZ shell is installed.

It is adapted to any screen orientation, landscape or portrait, although the main one for the tablet is portrait.

Something has been changed in comparison with the “naked” Android in the system, but if you have previously dealt with Samsung devices, then there will be no problems with the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 - everything is familiar here.

And the task manager does not differ at all from the standard one - here they just added the “Close All” button.

There are not very many programs on the tablet, although they are probably not a complete set here, since we were dealing with an unsaleable version of the device.

However, the well-known smart app manager on site. Recall that here you can figure out how memory is consumed, battery charge and protect the tablet.

There is also " Children's mode" - this is special application, which is a shell and several applications for children. True, you will have to download and install it - only a link is displayed in the general list.

The Galaxy Apps store is also in place. But we did not find the Galaxy Essentials section there, which provides free downloadable utilities. There, by the way, is usually the same "Children's mode".

And so on the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) there is a standard set of software, including one containing an adapted file manager.

The S Planner calendar is also convenient to use on the big screen.

Over time, the Clock program works, which is also well known and present on every smartphone and tablet. But here it is presented in the style of Samsung.

In terms of software Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is a typical South Korean tablet with a good and responsive shell. I have seen all this more than once and you quickly get used to it if you have never used Samsung products before.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is a typical tablet with "moderate" specs and a lovely short name. We believe that the manufacturer will emphasize its relatively affordable cost, coupled with an average quality screen, sufficient performance, and high-quality software. Android 5.1 will not work as a chip already - this should have been done in mid-2015.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) performed quite well in work. Its processor is not very modern, but its speed is enough for smooth animation of the interface and even for most games. The cameras on the tablet are “good” for the assessment - this is clearly not his forte, but the rear one is capable of producing more or less decent pictures. Although it would seem that a 7-inch model will be worn more often than any 9.6-inch one.

We did not notice any significant disadvantages of the device. The lack of automatic screen brightness adjustment is frustrating, but it's not fatal. The ergonomics of the tablet is good, it is not heavy, with a capacious battery, thoughtful software, among which there is even a children's mode. The main thing is that the price is adequate.

Price Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Buy Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is set at 12 thousand rubles. Galaxy Tab E 9.6 is sold for 16 thousand rubles, but this tablet is larger and comes with a 3G module.

- this is not exactly a tablet, but rather a super-huge phablet with a 6.98-inch screen. Moreover, it is more than a worthy competitor to our Samsung, since official store Lenovo gives it away for some 10 thousand rubles. At the same time, it is lighter, more compact, equipped with a faster processor, a 4G module, it has 16 GB of memory, but only 1 GB of RAM. The cameras are noticeably better, Phab also feels noticeably more comfortable in the hands. And it works on Android 5.1.

Can you imagine, finding an adequate competitor to the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 is simply not possible. Apart from the Lenovo Phab described above, the rest are either very cheap and are in the segment of ultra-budget devices, or are outdated models, such as Acer Iconia Tab 7A1-713HD. It costs about 10 thousand rubles and is equipped with a 4-core MediaTek MT8382 processor, its screen has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, there are 16 GB of flash memory and 1 GB of RAM. At the same time, it has a weak 3400 mAh battery and ancient Android 4.4. It is also thicker and heavier than Samsung.

Pros:

  • quality assembly;
  • decent screen for its class;
  • Relatively high quality rear camera.

Minuses:

  • There is no automatic screen brightness adjustment.

Samsung introduced new tablet this year from the Galaxy Tab A line - it was a model called SM-T280. The device is a 7-inch mid-range gadget with and for a low price.

The company has released a small but functional gadget for its customers.

Let's do more detailed overview characteristics of the new model, learn about its parameters and the possibilities that it provides to the user.

Contents of delivery

The delivery set, as before, is minimal - documentation, a cable for connecting via USB and a charger. Nothing new, unusual or superfluous. Headphones or case protective film on the screen, everyone acquires at will.

Design

As usual with this manufacturer, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is outwardly simple in design, but it looks attractive - the sense of style among designers does not disappear with time. The tablet is available in black and white colors.

The manufacturer's logo is located on the top of the front, on the bottom - function key, on the sides of it - two touch buttons. You can see the camera connector on the back, a speaker on the side of it, and another reminder of who released this gadget.

The case is made of matte plastic, looks nice and dignified. The dimensions are quite compact, the device can be carried lightly with you, it weighs a little. Such a solution determines and - the device is well suited to the user for work, study, travel, as it is convenient to take it with you.

Generally external design It is not to be complained about and will appeal to many buyers, the device will fit well into any environment, which makes it versatile.

Screen

The model is equipped with a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels, which guarantees good quality Images. Such a diagonal is the most popular among users, as it is convenient for watching movies or web pages, but at the same time the tablet remains compact and mobile to always have it at hand.

It is worth noting that IPS screens, like this Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016, are notable for their quality and are the best option for such technology. They are inexpensive, provide a colorful image with large viewing angles. Such a display will perfectly cope with basic tasks - such as watching videos or photos, reading, using the Internet.

Performance

The tablet comes with an Exynos 3475 processor, which consists of 4 cores and has clock frequency 1.3 GHz. The performance is also affected by RAM, the amount of which in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is 1.5 GB. Combining the characteristics, we conclude that the tablet has decent performance, which is enough for a mid-range device.

Such parameters are enough for everyday tasks - using the Internet, watching videos or movies, reading and working in applications, even if all this happens at the same time. Naturally, a tablet cannot be considered a gaming tablet - equipment with such a specialization is much more expensive, since games require more powerful parameters.

Of course, you can play on this device, but the graphics are unlikely to be the most realistic, and the applications that require them may not be displayed correctly. So the tablet can be used mainly for work, and on the road it will come in handy as a compact multimedia center.

Multimedia features

About multimedia Samsung features Galaxy Tab A 2016 can be judged based on screen, performance and sound parameters. If we talk about the screen, then its quality will allow you to enjoy a beautiful picture of a movie, video or photos, and the size of 7 inches also plays in its favor.

The tablet's speaker is located on the back, close to the camera, but not on the edge, so you won't mute it while holding the device. It produces a pretty good loud and clear sound. The performance of the model is sufficient for the full implementation of all tasks related to multimedia. The system has 8 GB of memory for storing files - not much, but the tablet reads cards up to 200 GB in size without any problems. Therefore, you will have somewhere to store all your books, documents, photos and series, and the main space is better used for applications.

Battery and operating time

The tablet has a 4000 mAh battery. Given the operation of the system, this power should be enough for 9 hours of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016. In fact, this figure is very relative - it all depends on how much you use the device.

It can be assumed that since the screen, like the processor, does not consume too much power, the battery will be enough for one working day. In some cases, if you use the tablet for only an hour and a half a day, it will last several days without any problems.

Camera

Basic Samsung module The Galaxy Tab A 2016 has 5 megapixels - not bad for a mid-range device, but not enough for high-quality pictures. However, in most tablets, cameras are supplied as far from being the main ones, but therefore you should not expect much from them.

In general, with the help of a camera you can take good pictures in optimal lighting, it will help you out in situations where you need to take a picture urgently. The 2 MP front module will help you create good “selfies” and cope with video calls. Nothing else is needed from this camera.

Operating system and programs

Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 runs on the Android system with the Lollipop shell, common to many devices of this brand. As before, this software is easy to use, with a standard menu view in the form of a list of applications, and it will not be difficult even for a beginner to understand the settings and interface.

The system works stably and smoothly, the basic set includes all necessary programs to start using the tablet: browsers, mail, an alarm clock with a calculator, settings, a file manager, a player, multimedia storage and a few more programs.

Installing other components is easy with the help of company store from Google, so there is nothing special or unusual about the tablet system. As, however, no shortcomings were found in it.

Competitors

If you are looking for a tablet with mid-range specifications and low price, 7-inch display and optimal performance, take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 competitor Asus Nexus 7. It has a slightly better screen, the processor frequency is 1.5 GHz . In general, according to the review of the main parameters, the tablets are almost identical, and they cost almost the same.

Other competitors are superior in some ways, and inferior to this model in some ways, so a more detailed comparison should be done independently, based on your needs. In general, the device is a completely original and worthy gadget, so it is worth paying attention to it.

Pros and cons

Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is a good device with powerful characteristics for its price level, in which I would like to note the following advantages:

  • Pleasant exterior design.
  • High-quality display with good viewing angles.
  • High performance.
  • Sufficient battery capacity.

Among the minuses, as always, when it comes to tablets, we can mention the cameras. And as for this particular device, it also lacks 3G, 4G, LTE, which are becoming increasingly popular. However, if they were present in such a device, its cost would become much higher.

Conclusions or Conclusion

Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is an excellent user gadget for everyday tasks - network access via Wi-Fi, work with documents and multimedia. Compactness and harmonious dimensions make it convenient for both home and travel use, which adds to its attractiveness. It has a high quality display high performance It looks stylish and looks great in any setting.

Therefore, undoubtedly, this model is worth your attention. It will provide the user with everything they need - and at a cost that correlates well with the quality of the equipment.

Positioning

The TAB A line of tablets means affordable models, that is, devices that attract with their price / quality ratio. Considering that the tablet market has been declining for the third year now, large manufacturers do not tend to release many models, but Samsung continues to saturate the market with its solutions with different diagonals and decided to update 10-inch models, which is a completely dying type of tablet. The update compared to the previous TAB A 9.7 inch looks interesting, improved the amount of memory, put faster processor, more battery, finalized the case. In a word, evolutionarily new tablets are better, this is the development of the line. In their price segment from 20 to 25 thousand rubles, oddly enough, they have no direct competitors, only old models from other manufacturers that run on Android 5.1. To some, this will seem like an insignificant difference, but if, with a comparable price, there is a choice and you can get the latest version of the OS, then why not. These tablets turned out to be interesting workhorses, with a maximum life cycle. They can be bought for 4-6 years to use at home or at work.

Design, dimensions, controls

There are three color solutions for the tablet - white, black and blue. In all cases, the plastic is matte, it does not leave marks from hands, as well as scratches. Compared to the younger model TAB A 7 inches, the quality of the case and plastic is clearly higher here, the model is in a different price segment.

The move, or rather return, to the 16:10 widescreen is welcome, a handy option for a home or work tablet, or watching videos. Usually in 3G / 4G models of Samsung tablets, they retain a conversational speaker, but in SM-T585 it is not, so for a conversation you will have to use the usual speakers on the bottom end, then the tablet will have to be held upside down, which is inconvenient. The microphone is located exactly opposite, so this is done consciously, after all, this is a tablet, not a phone.

Tablet size 254.2 x 155.3 x 8.2 mm, weight 525 grams. The dimensions are typical for such models, there are no achievements or shortcomings, a good form factor, comfortable in the hands. Moreover, the tablet was adapted at the software level for both horizontal and vertical orientation, you can choose what is interesting for you.

On the right side there is a slot for memory cards, it is covered with a cap attached to the case. Next to it is a slot for a nanoSIM card. Right there you see a paired volume rocker, as well as an on/off button. The 3.5 mm jack and microUSB are located on the top end.

The tablet has a physical key under the screen, two touch keys on the sides. I don't like that the touch keys are close to the central one, you expect them to be closer to the sides and often miss when you press without concentrating on it.

There are no complaints about the build quality of the device, it is excellent, the tablet will have maximum life cycle, you will change it in 4-5 years, unless you break it earlier.

Display

The display characteristics are as follows - 10.1 inches, TFT IPS, 1920x1200 pixels (224 ppi), 16:10, light sensor. The screen is very good in its class, it is quite bright and comfortable both indoors and out. For a month with the tablet, there were no complaints about its work, the display adapts to different lighting conditions.

Chipset, memory, performance

Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset, 8 Cortex A53 cores up to 1.6 GHz, Mali-T830MP2 GPU. This is a very good solution, especially since it is made according to the technological standard of 14 nm, which gives an increase in operating time. In terms of performance, the tablet seemed like a golden mean to me, on the one hand there is a margin for the future, this is not a budget solution, on the other hand, it lasts longer than all competitors on a single charge. For some reason, this tablet reminded me of the Samsung J7 (2016) smartphone, which I also liked for a long time.

Random access memory 2 GB. Built-in memory 16 GB, 10.5 GB available to the user. Look at the results of synthetic tests.

You can install memory cards up to 200 GB, which is not bad.

Battery

The tablet is Li-ion battery with a capacity of 7300 mAh. For her, the video playback time is up to 13 hours (in reality, 9 hours at maximum brightness).

Full battery charging time is about 3.5 hours. My tablet worked much longer than all analogues, an increase of at least one and a half times. The battery is the most strong point this decision. I would like to see fast charging here, but this is already out of the realm of dreams.

In the settings you can find the power saving mode, including the extreme one, but these modes do not greatly increase the operating time, but the speed of the device drops noticeably.

Camera

The main camera is 8-megapixel, the image quality is typical for tablets, it is average. For some reason, a flash was added to the camera. It is impossible to consider the camera as something serious, however, see for yourself.

Communication options

The tablet has support for USB on the GO, and the USB 2.0 version. Version BT 4.2. For the version with a SIM card, 4G is supported, there are no problems with working on Russian networks. I note that the tablet supports ANT +, which is unusual for such solutions.

Software features

Inside is the usual Android 6, TouchWiz shell. This is a typical representative of Samsung tablets, there is a division of the screen into areas, work in several windows.

Branded Kids Mode is available on all Samsung tablets, here it is also available. In this mode, you can set the tablet so that children have access to only a limited number of features and applications, you can also set a schedule. Highly good program, which turns Samsung tablets into children's devices when needed. Similar software is usually worse and not free.

Similarly to modern models, Smart Manager appeared, in which you can see what the memory is doing, clear it, install an antivirus if necessary.

In the "Gifts" section you can find free apps and subscription to different services. There are few gifts themselves, and they are not for everybody.

For the 4G version of the tablet, there will also be a dialer plus an SMS app. This tablet can act as big phone, you can speak even without a headset.

Stop at typical Android features I don’t see any point, they are described in a separate material.

Impression

As I said at the very beginning of the review, Tab A 10.1 (6) is a workhorse, it has good screen, a fairly powerful chipset for this price, the latest android version and a good battery. You can blame that the sound is not very clear from the speakers, the buttons are located inconveniently for games, but these are trifles. The tablet turned out to be successful and profitable in terms of price / quality ratio in its segment. For the WiFi version in branded retail, they ask for 21990 rubles, for LTE 24990 rubles. In federal retail, taking into account discounts, you can find these tablets for 1-2 thousand rubles cheaper.

These tablets have practically no direct competitors, we can recall the outgoing Lenovo Tab 2 A10, but it has an old version of Android, and it is much simpler, the performance is lower. This is a passing nature, there is no special point in buying it. But it costs 18 thousand rubles.

You can look at Lenova Yoga Tablet 3, also an old version of Android, but other characteristics are close to Tab A. Moreover, the LTE version costs 20,000 rubles in Svyaznoy.

There is another model like Huawei mediapad T2 10.0 with LTE, this is also outgoing nature. By and large, there is no choice among new tablets, Samsung devices are in a kind of vacuum. The predecessor in the face of Tab A 9.7 costs imperceptibly cheaper, the difference is 2-3 thousand rubles, but it is noticeably worse. Therefore, it is worth stopping at new devices.

It looks like South Korean manufacturer Samsung has been hard at work on their Galaxy S7 flagships lately. Probably, for this reason, there was almost no time to update the catalog of tablets. And why, because the company has a lot of offers for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (2015) tablet or the slightly larger diagonal Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. Be that as it may, the first novelties nevertheless began to appear: we are talking about Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016).

What's new

This model will attract the attention of fans of seven-inch tablets. Slim, lightweight, won't take up much space in your shoulder bag. Due to the fact that the back is textured, it not only fits comfortably in the hand due to its size, but also does not slip. Smooth outlines and rounded corners make the design ergonomic, which is important for a device whose dimensions are larger than mobile ones.

But main feature not in design: it is quite ordinary here and unremarkable for its time. First of all Samsung galaxy tab a (2016) the category of users who have already switched to the LTE Internet will want it. Nano SIM cards are supported here, which allow the tablet to work in LTE. True, there are cheaper modifications that support only Wi-Fi.

Technical capabilities

The display is made using IPS LCD technology, which means that the picture quality should be at a good level. As for the platform, the device runs on a Qualcomm MSM8916, i.e. a 410 1.3 GHz snapdragon. Adreno 306 is responsible for the video. The RAM is 1.5 gigabytes, which is quite typical for mid-range Samsung Android devices. Concerning permanent memory- its here 8 gigabytes. Fortunately, microSD cards are supported, which can improve the situation. There is also a five-megapixel camera with autofocus. Another nice feature is gps with glonass function. In general, like most tabs. About operating system we can say that Android 5.1.1 is supported here, which has already begun to be slowly replaced by the sixth version, but in general has not lost its relevance. In any case, at an affordable cost, the novelty will be an excellent choice for users of compact tablets.
