The system does not allow you to install the program. What steps need to be taken to install Windows

Often, novice users, to save time and money, do. A user who is doing the installation for the first time may encounter problems and may wonder why Windows is not installing?. Operating Systems Windows families, are very popular and now you need to know for what reasons they may not be installed.

Incorrect BIOS setting.

Any clean install Windows starts by preparing the computer. At this stage, when trying Windows installation problems appear from a disk or flash drive and nothing is installed. For everything to work, you need to set up the boot device that will read the Windows media. For example, if the installation will be performed from a DVD / CD, then the first boot device should be a DVD / CD drive with an optical drive (disk)
If needed, then the first device to boot should be the flash drive itself, and more precisely USB HDD, USB Flash, USB Drive also in BIOS there may be a signature by the name of your flash drive or something similar, depending on the BIOS firmware version and model motherboard computer. Before saving the selected settings, you need to make sure that the floppy drive is disabled. You need to go to the "Standard CMOS Features" section, where you need to disable "Floppy - 1.44 or Drive A". Next, you need to save the settings, press F10 and YES. The computer will reboot and the system will start installing Windows from a disk or flash drive.
Even when installing from a USB flash drive, there may be problems with the type hard disk. On the modern computers the hard drive can operate in IDE AHCI and RAID modes. If you do not have a disk array raid, then we will analyze the rest of the settings. You can find these settings in the IDE configuration section. I recommend using the AHCI mode, but when installing Windows from old flash drives, an inscription about the lack of a driver may appear. If you have such a problem, switch to IDE mode and then the installation will proceed without errors. Learn more about BIOS settings.

Broken system image or damaged media.

Another persistent problem is the incorrect image capture with Windows. Bad disc (blank disc), damaged DVD / CD drive through which Windows was recorded. The same can be with a flash drive - broken memory or faulty USB ports on the mainland. It also happens that the equipment is working properly and works correctly, and the image itself is damaged initially even before the moment of recording, for example, it is not downloaded enough or was even damaged when uploading to the site. In this case, you need to have several Windows images on hand, on different drives. You can try installing the operating system using another drive, for example, an external one. Use a variety of methods to install Windows and your device to achieve your goal of installing Windows by exclusion.

Damaged computer hardware.

Another problem is the failure of the computer hardware. This may be a damaged motherboard, video card, hard drive, RAM, power supply and processor.
It is necessary to carry out. Locate the damaged part and replace or repair it. There are many tests for this that don't need an OS. You can check the motherboard, processor and video card with the PC Test utility. Winchester can be checked HDD program regenerator. RAM using the MemTest utility. The power supply can be checked through the BIOS or just physically.

Outdated PC hardware

Here I think everything is clear if the hardware of the computer does not meet the minimum system requirements to install Windows, you won't be able to install it. For example, to install Windows 10, your computer must have at least 1GB of RAM, at least 16GB of hard disk space, and the processor frequency must be at least 1 GHz. The video card must support DirectX 9.0c. It is clear that such a computer will not be able to provide comfortable work. Therefore, for normal operation, a multi-core processor with a frequency of more than 1.6 GHz and 2 GB of RAM is required. Sometimes all parameters may be suitable except video or sound card. For example, many still have ATI Radeon x700 video cards with 256 or 512 MB of memory. It seems to be not very old video cards. But they don't have DirectX 9.0c support. They support DirectX 9.0b but no longer work on Windows 8, 8.1 and 10. Carefully study all the characteristics of your computer before installing Windows to meet the system requirements. And if they fit, only then start the installation.

What else might cause Windows not to install?

Old motherboard BIOS boards or video cards. Update them.
Disconnected loop or power, check the connection of all loops and cables.
Conflicting Parts - network cards, sound cards, TV tuners and the like.
Assemblies of Windows, many download assemblies of operating systems and try to install them. Such operating systems, often, simply cannot be installed on certain computers. Use pure original Windows images to install and then you should not have any problems.

What kind of errors have not been heard and seen when installing the Windows OS (and I started doing this even with Windows 98).

I want to say right away that most often, software errors are to blame, I personally would give them 90 percent ...

In this article, I would like to dwell on several such software cases, due to which Windows 7 is not installed.

Case #1

This incident happened to me myself. In 2010, I decided enough was enough, it was time to change Windows XP to Windows 7. I myself was an opponent of both Vista and 7 at first, but I still had to switch because of problems with drivers (new equipment manufacturers simply stopped releasing drivers for more old OS)...

Because CD-Rom "a at that time I didn’t have (by the way, I don’t even remember why) the choice of where to install from naturally fell on a USB flash drive. By the way, the computer then worked for me under Windows control xp.

In general, I bought a disk with Windows 7, made an image from it from a friend, wrote it to a USB flash drive ...

As soon as I did not change the BIOS settings, reset them, changed the download priorities, etc. - all in vain ...

Do you know what was the problem? The fact that the flash drive was incorrectly recorded. Now I don’t remember what utility I used to burn that flash drive (for sure, it was all about it), but the UltraISO program helped me fix this misunderstanding (for how to burn a flash drive in it, see this article).

After that it went like clockwork...

Case #2

I have a friend who is good at computers. Somehow he asked me to come in and suggest at least something why the OS might not be installed: an error occurred, or rather the computer just hung, and each time at a different time.

Those. this could happen at the beginning of the installation, or it could take 5-10 minutes. later...

I went in, checked the BIOS first - it seems to be configured correctly. Then I began to check the flash drive with the system - there were no complaints about it either, even for the experiment they tried to install the system on a neighboring PC - everything got up without problems.

The decision came spontaneously - try to insert the USB flash drive into another USB connector.

In general, from the front system block I rearrange the flash drive to the back - and what would you think? The system was installed in 20 minutes.

The problem was in USB - I don’t know exactly what (maybe something hardware). The main thing is that the system was installed and I was released. 😛

Case #3

When installing Windows 7 on my sister's computer, a strange situation occurred: the computer immediately hung up. Why? Unclear...

The most interesting thing is that in normal mode (the OS was already installed on it), everything worked fine and no problems were observed. I tried different OS distributions - it did not help.

It was in the BIOS settings, or rather in the Floppy Drive floppy disk drive. I agree that most do not have it, but in the BIOS, the setting can be and, most interestingly, it is enabled!

After turning off the Floppy Drive, the freezes stopped and the system was successfully installed...

Other common reasons for not installing Windows 7:

1) Incorrect recording of the CD / DVD disc or flash drive. Be sure to check back! (Burn boot disk)

2) If you are installing the system from a USB flash drive, be sure to use USB2.0 ports (Installing Windows 7 from USB3.0 will not work).

4) Before installing the OS, I recommend disconnecting printers, TVs, etc. from the system unit - leaving only the monitor, mouse and keyboard. This is necessary in order to reduce the risk of all sorts of errors and misidentified equipment.

For example, if you have an additional monitor or TV connected to HDMI, when installing the OS, it may incorrectly set (sorry for the tautology) the default monitor and the picture from the screen will disappear!

5) If the system still does not install, you may not software problem, and hardware? It is not possible to consider everything within the framework of one article, I recommend contacting service center or to good friends who understand computers.

Windows XP is the classic and most popular operating system, which is still installed on computers by lovers of antiquity. Unfortunately, due to its obsolescence, serious problems can arise during the installation process. In particular, installation may not occur at all due to errors. But almost all of them can be solved.

What could be the reasons

There are two options in total, according to which it may suddenly become impossible Windows installations XP to PC:

  • Problems directly in the software.
  • Problems with computer components.

In both situations, there may be significant conflicts with the installation process. operating system. However, any of them can be easily and simply solved if you understand a little what the problem is.

Damaged installation disk

One of the most commonplace reasons why Windows XP is not installed is a malfunction of the installation disk. In most cases, no one pays attention to a scratched and worn disk, although massive damage is quite capable of preventing some files from being read. The same applies to recording - incorrect "burning" of the media will not allow you to correctly install the operating system. So if the cause is scratched, it is recommended to look for another installation disk.

Wrong input and output device

The most common and far from the saddest mistake is an incorrectly set I / O device. The operating system is trying to install from some media, but the BIOS does not see it, so the installation fails.

So to fix the problem, you have to look into the BIOS. To do this, immediately after pressing the power button on the computer, start very actively clicking one of the keys on the keyboard. As a rule, this is F2, Esc or Del, more precisely, you need to look at the manufacturer of the motherboard.

After that, we directly set the boot priority. Using AMI BIOS as an example:

  • We go to Boot.
  • We find Boot Device Priority there.
  • We look at which device is set up first. It is necessary that the First Boot Device line contains the device that is necessary for installation (disk drive or flash drive).

After that, you can exit the BIOS by saving the settings.

If this does not help, be sure to replace the small battery that powers the CMOS on the motherboard.

Boot viruses

The next problem, which is also related to Bios, is the function of boot viruses. Or rather, its on state. In the original, this item should fight off viruses at boot, but for some reason it only interferes with the installation of the system. Therefore, you need to disable it by setting the position to Disabled.

Drive failure

In some cases, damage to the drive can prevent Windows XP from installing. The probability is especially high if there were problems with him before - he did not read or read the information incorrectly. If in Everyday life it is not so noticeable, then every file is important during the installation process, that's why it freezes.

There are two ways out of this situation - either install a new drive if the installation is planned from a CD / DVD disk, or try installing the operating system from a flash drive.

Hardware problems

The next reason is any malfunctions in the hardware of the computer. It could be a deformity hard drive. It occurs in the event that the computer for some reason fell or hit something. In this case, the hard drive is damaged, and writing to it can no longer be done.

The next "internal" problem is loose pins on the motherboard. Or, for example, there was a failure in the input-output device, which is located on the motherboard itself.

And there is only one way out - to try to install a copy of the operating system on another PC. If it starts, it means that the problem is in the hardware of the computer. If not, the problem lies in the copy itself.

Conflict with modernity

This problem is relevant for the latest motherboards. They work a little differently, so the installer just doesn't recognize HDD devices. The essence of the problem is as follows: the wrong value for the installer is set in the BIOS for the IDI / SATA chipset controller, specifically AHCI. outdated operating room Windows system XP is simply not able to recognize such a value, since it appeared much later than the last patch for it.

The solution is as follows - enter BIOS, then SATA Mode. Find there a value called IDE and set it as used. XP is familiar with it and will not be capricious.

Other issues

In addition to the problems that were described above, there may be other unpleasant malfunctions:

  • Overheating of any component. During operation, one of the components of the processor heats up excessively and cannot perform its functions correctly. So the cause of overheating should be eliminated first.
  • Conflict with newer system. If the disk already contains Windows 7 or later, the installation may fail. First you need to format the disk with the old system and only then start installing the new one.
  • Service pack conflict. If this error occurs, you should format local drives. A clean system is then installed on a free hard drive.

These were the most common and easily solved problems, but many others can also occur. Most often, they can be determined either by a specialist or by a program designed for diagnostics.

Windows 10 - operating system on long time. Microsoft has stated that new versions (in the usual sense) will not be released, and the development of the system will be permanent updates. Many Windows users want to be on the wave of progress, so they are switching to the newest and most advanced operating system in the world. But there are a lot of pitfalls for those who want to upgrade, especially for owners of computers two or three years ago: from the incompatibility of motherboards and components to the lack of support for some processors. As a result, the installation attempt fails or the process hangs.

Installing Windows 10 over the Internet

Microsoft considers the most logical way to install Windows 10 is to update the current version of the system via the Internet (this way you can upgrade from Windows 7 and 8), for which you can download from the company's website Get application Windows 10, which will do all the work on its own, and in the background: it will download the necessary components, install drivers, save user data.

Many experienced users prefer Clean Install - installation with removable media, - to fully control the situation. The best carrier for such an installation is bootable flash drive with the operating system distribution image. The problem is that the OS tools format the flash drive as a disk with an MBR partition. On computers with UEFI (that is, most modern ones), installing a system from such a flash drive will fail, and the installer will not see the section with files.

If you don't want to face an error, prepare boot disk GPT format. A program that will do this quickly and for free is Rufus.

Video: creating a bootable USB flash drive in Rufus

The disk has an MBR partition table.

When booting in UEFI mode, the Windows 10 setup program will not be able to install the system to a disk with MBR partitions. This situation is possible if Windows 7 or lower has already been installed on the disk. As a result, a warning is displayed on the screen and the installation is paused.

To proceed with the installation, you need to convert the drive to GPT format. There are two ways to solve this problem: fast - with the loss of all data on the disk - and slow, with the preservation of information. If you don't need the information, or it's just a second-hand disc from the secondary market, the first method is optimal:

  1. After receiving a warning about MBR partitions on the disk, press Shift+F10: this will open a window command line.
  2. Enter the following commands in sequence:
    • diskpart;
    • list disk - the program will display a list of disks;
    • select disk n - select the drive to be converted;
    • clean - delete all partitions;
    • convert gpt - convert disk to GPT format;
    • exit.
  3. Close the window and click the Refresh button on the partition selection screen.
  4. Select unallocated disk space for installation and continue: the error will no longer appear.

To implement the second method - converting a disk with data preservation - you will need a software package for working with disk partitions. Let's focus on the Minitool Partition Wizard program: it is free, and you can download a bootable USB flash drive image from the manufacturer's website.

Messages about the inability to install the system on a disk with MBR partitions can be avoided by switching the boot mode to Legacy in the BIOS settings. But this is a temporary solution, which will then lead to a decrease in system performance and reliability. The best option would still be to convert the disk.

Windows 10 won't install on a solid state drive (SSD)

When installing Windows 10 on an SSD drive, you may encounter errors such as “infinite installation”: at a certain stage, the computer restarts and starts the installation again. There is also such a nuisance as critically low speed SSD access - installation can take 12-15 hours. In addition, sometimes the installer does not recognize the disk and the SSD is not displayed in the disk selection window. To get rid of such errors, you should take a number of simple steps:

  1. Download the latest from the official website of the manufacturer of the motherboard or laptop BIOS version and install it according to the given instructions.
  2. In the BIOS settings, be sure to enable the boot type - UEFI.
  3. On the Peripheral Setup screen, select a job type SATA controller- AHCI.
  4. If the computer, in addition to the SSD, also has internal drives. Disable them before starting the installation by disconnecting the cables from the motherboard.
  5. When the installation starts, on the disk selection screen, you should delete any partitions on the SSD, if any are present. Install the system in an unallocated area, allowing the installer to create and format the partition automatically.

    To install the system, select an unallocated area

Blue screen when installing Windows 10

Blue Screen, aka Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) is a Windows diagnostic message about critical error, after which the operation of the system is impossible. Errors can occur both during the installation of the operating system and during its further operation.

Most often, such errors appear when there is a problem with the hardware of the computer. To get rid of the error, you can take the following steps:

  1. If the BIOS of the motherboard has options for overclocking the processor and RAM, disable them.
  2. Check the amount of installed RAM. If you have multiple sticks installed, try leaving only one of them before running the installer. This will put the memory controller into single-channel mode - slow but error tolerant.
  3. Disable everything peripherals except those required during the installation phase.
  4. Make sure that the bitness of the OS distribution and the bitness of the processor in your computer match. If you try to install a 64-bit OS on a 32-bit processor, the installation will fail. You can check the bitness of the processor with the free utility CPU-Z.
  5. Remove the hard drive and install Windows 10 on another computer that does not encounter the error. After the installation is complete, return the disk back and try to boot in normal mode.

Black screen when installing Windows 10

One of the common problems is a black screen (with or without a mouse cursor) after installing the operating system. This error most often appears on computers with discrete AMD graphics cards and NVidia, this does not happen with integrated video. It is possible that the computer is installing downloaded updates, in which case you should wait 15-20 minutes until the welcome screen appears. If the expectation did not lead to a positive result, you should restart the computer, and then disable the function quick launch systems (this is guaranteed to fix the black screen issue with AMD or NVidia graphics cards).

Windows 10 takes too long to install

Let's consider separately a group of errors due to which the installation of Windows 10 takes too long. In normal mode, on an average computer full installation system takes no more than 35-40 minutes, on a system with an SSD - 3-4 times faster.

Windows 10 freezes at logo during installation

This issue is most common when trying to install Windows 10 on one of the laptops Samsung. Some time ago, the company stopped producing laptops, stopped buying OEM versions of the operating system. Therefore, Microsoft removed support for these laptops from the distribution. As a result, the installer freezes already at the system logo, that is, at the very beginning.

You can install the operating system by dismantling the hard drive, which is connected to another computer, where the operating system installation procedure takes place. Then the disk is returned back to the laptop and after the phase auto tuning Windows 10 works great on it.

Windows 10 freezes preparing files for installation

This error occurs when updating Windows 7 or Windows 8 using Windows Update. Installation progress can stop at an arbitrary point and not increase indefinitely. In this case the best option will install the operating system with bootable media(flash drives). On the start screen, you can select the installation mode - "Update", - and all your data and the programs installed in the previous version of the OS will be saved.

Windows 10 installation stuck at 0%

This issue occurs when you try to upgrade to Windows 10 from previous versions OS. Update Center error prevents installation new system, when you try, you get the message "There were some problems installing updates ..."

To make the installation of Windows 10 possible, you need to run a special script that will reset all the errors of the Center windows updates».

  1. Create a notepad file and write the following commands in it (without the semicolon):
  2. Save the file as winupdate-reset.bat.
  3. Click on the icon of the RMB file (right mouse button) and run it as an administrator.
  4. Close the script window and restart your computer.

Now you can restart the upgrade to Windows 10 - there will be no errors.

Windows installation aborted with 25% error

At 25%, Windows 10 installation may freeze with error code 0xC1900101.

The error indicates a conflict between peripherals and the installer. Although Microsoft does not give any official instructions on how to fix it, you can achieve a normal system installation by following the steps below:

  1. When installing Windows 10, use a flash drive. Installing and updating from the operating system or from an optical drive increases the risk of error 0xC1900101.
  2. Disconnect all peripherals, leaving only the keyboard and mouse.
  3. Disconnect all SATA and ATA drives, except for the one on which the system is being installed.

Installation freezes at 32 or 99%

If the installation hangs after 32%, this is a feature of the system update mechanism, and not a bug. The amount of data that needs to be downloaded from the Internet is about 10 gigabytes, and the number of files is in the tens of thousands. Depending on the speed of the Internet connection of the central processor and the amount of RAM of the computer being updated, the installation of Windows 10 can take a long time. Sometimes the process can take up to a day.

When updating, there are several " control points”, during which the process slows down so much that it seems as if the updater has “frozen”. You just have to wait in such cases as:

  • on a black screen with a blue circle between 30-39% when Windows Update downloads all dynamic updates for Windows 10 from the network;
  • 96-99% when Windows OS leads backup user data;
  • while the message "This will take a little longer than usual, but it will be ready soon" remains on the screen.

You can greatly speed up the update process by disabling all USB peripherals, as well as additional monitors, if any.

Windows 10 does not create partitions when installing

This error occurs when trying to install the OS on a disk with an already created partition table. There are no unallocated areas on the disk, the installer cannot create additional hidden partitions for system needs, and it gives the error message "Could not create a new or find an existing partition."

In order for the installer to be able to create the structure of system partitions necessary for the operation of the OS, you must either delete the existing partitions from the disk (in this case, all data will be lost), or reduce the ones on the disk with the partitioning program. Thus, approximately 700 MB of space will be freed up and installation will become possible.

In the first case, select the existing partition with the cursor without leaving the disk selection window, and click "Delete". Then, in the same way, select the released free place and specify it for further installation of the operating system.

In the second case, you will need a bootable USB flash drive with the Minitool Partition Wizard program.

Windows 10 install reboots at 64%

The error occurs after installing the cumulative update KB3081424 (or using the installation disk, where this update is already integrated). The setup program scans the system registry and, if it finds non-existent user entries, crashes, after which the update tries to install again - and so on ad infinitum. To fix the error, you need to make changes to the system registry:

  1. Restarting the computer in safe mode(hold the F8 key at startup), launch the registry editor through the command line interface.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\.
  3. Delete the ProfileList key.
  4. Restart your computer and continue installing or updating the system.

Windows 10 setup window not showing up

A very rare error that occurs when installing other systems of the Windows family. Appears on configurations that have a floppy disk drive. Solving the problem - with the help BIOS settings turn off the drive and set Drive A (B) to disabled.

Device drivers not found

During the installation process, the installer reports that there are no drivers for the drive and stops. It is not possible to continue with the installation.

The reason is the USB 3.0 standard port, to which you have connected a bootable USB flash drive with the system distribution kit or a portable hard drive. Fixing the error is very simple - switch the drive to another USB 2.0 port. It is very easy to distinguish it: USB 3.0 standard ports are blue, and 2.0 standard ports are black.

Windows 10 Installation Errors - Official Guides

Microsoft has published at least two articles on fixing errors when installing or upgrading to Windows 10 from older operating systems. it detailed guides with error codes and a brief description. These are "Windows 10 Upgrade and Installation Error Help" and "Windows 10 Upgrade Error Troubleshooting". You can find them in the "Documents" section.

Please note that you can access Microsoft knowledge bases, including the articles mentioned, if you have an account Microsoft entry. If it is not there, do not be too lazy to spend 15 minutes on registration.

The errors and solutions discussed in the article are typical, that is, they occur on a variety of configurations. At the same time, “floating” errors can occur - those that occur with unpredictable frequency, which are very difficult to track and systematize. The stability of the OS and the absence of problems with its installation are closely related to the quality of the components from which the computer is assembled. Use RAM modules from trusted brands, hard drives without errors or damage and reliable system cooling. After all, it is much easier to prevent errors than to deal with them in the process of work.

Windows 7, despite the release of newer operating systems of this family, is still one of the most popular and in demand among users around the world due to its versatility. But even in it, as it turns out, it is not always possible to use some applications installed by the user. Most often, such situations appear just at the installation stage. But why on Windows 7, which, in theory, should have worked in it without any problems? There are many reasons for this, which will be discussed below. But only the most basic and most common problems are offered for consideration, since it is simply impossible to cover them all, especially if we take into account each specific case of failures and errors.

Why programs are not installed on Windows 7: the main reasons

To begin with, let's dwell on the reasons that cause errors to appear at the very beginning of the installation. Among them, the most important aspects are the following:

  • the user does not have the necessary rights;
  • installation blocking by antiviruses and firewalls;
  • inconsistency of the system architecture with the installed software;
  • outdated or unsupported hardware and drivers for it;
  • incomplete builds of distributions and missing important files operating system;
  • outdated additional platforms;
  • Remnants of earlier versions of installed applications;
  • compatibility issues;
  • damage and errors of MSI files;
  • the impact of viruses.

Of course, the above list cannot be called absolutely complete and reflects all possible situations, however, for the most part, it is precisely these reasons that prevent a normal installation. software, among which the leading positions belong to modern computer games and multimedia applications.

Troubleshooting Windows Installer errors for Windows 7 at the start of installation

Eliminating possible failures and errors, let's start with the simplest thing - that the user has the necessary rights to install some kind of program. It's no secret, after all, that it was in the seventh modification of Windows that the so-called super administrator first appeared with a hidden, but constantly active account, which, as a user, has much more access rights to change system parameters than any other user registered in the system, even from the administrator group. And as you know, any program, except for portable versions, just changes some system options, for example, by registering its own dynamic libraries or creating its own keys in system registry for which a permit is required. And if you add UAC user account control here, it seems that regular user there are no privileges at all.

However, if Windows Installer for Windows 7, immediately after the installation starts, it gives an error, you can fix the situation quite simply by running the installer as administrator through the RMB menu on the selected object. After that, the error may disappear. But you should not rely only on such an option.

Problems with security software

Now suppose that the installers are launched with the necessary rights, but the programs are still not installed on Windows 7. What to do? First you should read the installation conditions, if you are trying to install not official version applications, but you are using some kind of hacked or custom repack.

Although this may apply equally to some versions of legitimate software, it is sometimes recommended to disable antivirus protection in real time, especially if you have some kind of free antivirus like Avast. In principle, similar actions can be performed with the Windows firewall, but in most cases this is not necessary.

System bit depth

Now a few words about one more situation when programs are not installed on Windows 7. The installer error can appear again and again if your operating system has a different architecture than the one that the application being installed is intended to use.

In the properties of the computer through RMB, look at short description system in use. If you have Windows 7 x64, there should be no problems, since both 64- and 32-bit programs can be installed on this system. But on the contrary - no way.

Hardware, drivers and system updates

Sometimes you can also encounter problems with the hardware installed on the computer, for example, processors that do not support the x64 architecture. But, since today this is a rarity, basically the appearance of conflicts, if programs are not installed on Windows 7 under any pretext, is associated with incorrect installation of drivers, their absence or obsolescence. The fact that the system itself is able to choose the most suitable driver for a device (as it seems to it) does not mean at all that the equipment running such software will work without failures. In this case, you should install only "native" (preferably updated) drivers by downloading them, for example, from the official website of the device manufacturer.

To automate these processes, you can use special programs to update drivers like Driver Booster, which find the latest versions of control software with the right architecture and integrate them into the system without user intervention.

If correct driver will not be found, in the "Device Manager", which can be called through the advanced system settings and the hardware tab, the "Control Panel" or the "Run" console by entering the command devmgmt.msc, you should use the details tab and, after selecting the display of the hardware ID from the list, copy most long string, containing the identifiers VEN and DEV, and then use it to search for a driver, download it and install it yourself. Also, after saving it on the hard disk or external media, you can specify the installation from the selected location to the system.

Often modern software products also imply the installation of the most latest updates for the operating system itself.

If such packages were not found and integrated into the system automatically, you can set them in the "Update Center" manual search followed by installation at the end of the download.

Unofficial application builds and missing libraries

Sometimes programs on Windows 7 are not installed due to the fact that some unofficial (most often truncated) repack is used for this, which may lack important files of the application being installed. In this case, it is better not to engage in experiments, but to find the official release of the program. But it also happens that the system itself lacks the necessary dynamic libraries that are necessary for the correct operation of the application. Some advise downloading the missing components yourself, then placing them in the System32 folder, and then registering them with the regsvr32 tool. It has to be said, it's rather tedious.

Isn't it easier to use special utility DLL Suite that can automatically detect missing or corrupted libraries and download them from the Internet?

Incorrectly installed and outdated additional platforms

If we talk specifically about games and multimedia, special additional platforms must be installed in any system, without which not a single such program will simply work. There are three main ones among them:

The problem here is that if for the first two platforms you find and install the most latest versions If you can directly from the official Microsoft website, then the version of the third component, for example, for somewhat outdated games, does not have to be the latest. In general, the installer should initially contain a tool that installs the required platform modification, but if the installer itself is “broken”, this component will have to be integrated into the system on its own.

For multimedia, if the user is dealing with programs developed by Apple that have been adapted for Windows 7 x64 or x86, additional components may also be required. Most often, the QuickTime platform is required.

Remnants of deleted old versions of programs

Another reason that programs do not install on Windows 7 may be due to leftovers from deleted earlier versions of applications. As you know, thorough and most complete removal installed programs is one of the most weaknesses all systems in this family. But often at the end of such processes, you can find a huge number of residual components in the form of files, directories and registry keys. Therefore, for maximum complete removal applications, it is better to use automated uninstallers (for example, iObit Uninstaller) or to clean the system through the use of optimizers (CCleaner, Advanced SystemCare, etc.).

Using compatibility mode

And here are some legacy applications(or even installing them) that work without problems in earlier Windows versions, it is sometimes advisable to run using the so-called compatibility mode.

In Windows 7, in this case, the OS will be recognized by the installer or installed application not like the seventh version, but an earlier modification. Please note that the upgrade of the system version is not provided, that is, in the seventh modification, there is no compatibility with Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 at all (although theoretically all four systems can ensure the correct operation of the same program). You can select the desired mode through the properties of the file being launched, using the properties item and the corresponding tab, on which the required version of the operating system is selected from the list.

Corrupt installer files and service issues

Finally, one of the most common installation problems concerns damage to the installer itself. In part, this may be due to incomplete download of distributions or installation files packed into archives, sometimes the built-in Windows installer itself may not work correctly, etc.

In the first case, you just need to re-download the content, in the second case, use the services section (services.msc), stop the service " Windows Installer”, restart the computer device and turn it on again if activation does not occur automatically.

Viral exposure

Finally, the real scourge of all Windows systems is virus applets. They penetrate the system in various ways, affecting its important components, but most often such threats can be found on all kinds of torrent trackers. Therefore, after downloading files from such Internet resources, they must immediately be checked with some kind of portable scanner. But even here it should be clearly understood that not all modern viruses may be determined virus scanners. Some of them (for example, advertising applets called browser hijackers) may masquerade as official partnership programs and enter the system completely legally.
