As reviews show, Philips products have their own advantages:

  • favorable cost;
  • great functionality;
  • excellent assembly;
  • good selection of models;
  • use of modern technologies.

But even the best and highest quality TV from Philips can be inferior to the products of the most popular brands in many ways. And there are a number of reasons for this. First of all, the high functionality of the models is noted, but slightly inferior to the advanced leaders. Sometimes there are problems in the operation of the TVs themselves, for example, freezing and even rebooting, problems with the software. But the update solves this problem quite easily.

However, the use of modern technology has allowed the brand to once again loudly declare itself. And this became possible due to certain advantages of the company:

  • competitive prices;
  • quality assembly;
  • high performance indicators;

The advantages of the brand's products are as follows:

  • cost-effectiveness of models due to the minimum software equipment;

But all the benefits can be crossed out by the sound and picture of Thomson TVs. You need to understand that you can’t expect high quality in all manifestations from an inexpensive TV. And this means that a problem may arise where it was not expected - a mismatch of connectors and bolts, poor-quality plastic, poor picture, functionality, and much more.

Conclusion

What to choose is a personal matter for everyone. But as practice shows, it is better to pay more and get quality that pleases for a long time. Inexpensive and not always high-quality models in all manifestations can cause a lot of negativity. The best manufacturers of modern TVs offer their own options and solutions to various problems that concern consumers, but the amount of goods depends on the final result. And here you need to think - you need a TV for pleasure, work, decor, entertainment or information.

When choosing a new TV, users mainly pay attention to the technical characteristics and functionality of the device. This is a reasonable and rational approach. However, potential buyers are also interested in which brand of TV is better? Does the brand affect the quality of the equipment?

The name of the manufacturer plays a big role. Products from trusted companies will last much longer than devices from little-known manufacturers. Now let's determine which brands occupy a leading position in the field of TV development.

The importance of choosing the right TV

It is completely pointless to delve into the history of companies. This information can be found on Wikipedia. It is more important for users to know what a manufacturer is today. Is it worth buying his products?

What brand to buy a TV? Not the easiest question. To answer it, you need to take into account the financial capabilities of the buyer. Do not forget that advertising ambitions do not always correspond to the real situation.

The list of the best brands includes mainly South Korean and Japanese companies. Not so long ago they released budget TV, but now they are naturally considered leaders in this industry. First, these companies offer extensive the lineup, which has both flagships and budget devices. Secondly, they offer appliances with progressive functionality.

Popular TV brands

Let's start our acquaintance with the best TV manufacturers. Let us analyze the features of the manufactured equipment, as well as the strengths and weak sides most popular companies. Not only TV specifications were taken into account, but also real reviews clients.

When forming the rating, statistical information was taken into account. For example, how often TV owners from a certain manufacturer contacted a service center. This information allows us to estimate the actual operational life of the equipment. Based on the information provided, you will be able to draw conclusions as to which brand is better to choose TV.

Sony

A popular Japanese company that has been a leader in the production of TVs for a long period of time. The highest quality of Sony was shown even on kinescope models. Of course, there have been certain downturns in the history of the company. However, unlike many previously popular brands, of which today only the name remains, Sony continues to produce quality TVs every year.

If we talk about today's assortment, then the Japanese brand has relied on LED TVs. Users are offered both budget models and flagships. 2017 can be considered a landmark date in the history of the company. It was then that the best Sony TV was released - BRAVIA A1 with an OLED display.

Sony televisions compare favorably with the technology of other companies. Devices released by the Japanese brand broadcast a realistic image of excellent quality. Buyers are attracted by the natural color palette and lack of oversaturation.

Elegant and original design is the signature style of the brand. What is it worth appearance Sony lineup KDL. The company's asset can be safely added to the excellent build quality. Production facilities are located in Slovakia and Malaysia.

Main advantages:

  • a wide range of models with different screen sizes - from 32 to 100 inches;
  • manufacturer produces TV with matrices different types: OLED, IPS, VA. The refresh rate ranges from 60-120 Hz;
  • high-performance image quality improvement technologies are used - 4K X-Reality PRO, Motionflow and others;
  • even Full HD models support HDR technology;
  • carefully thought-out design concept: narrow bezels, all wires are hidden, branded stand.

There are also certain disadvantages:

  • premium-class models are much more expensive when compared with TVs from other brands;
  • Smart TV functionality is focused on the use of paid services.

Keep in mind that Sony TVs are assembled in Slovakia and Malaysia, not China. Therefore, the higher cost of technology is a completely natural phenomenon.

LG

The second position is occupied by the South Korean TV manufacturer, which regularly releases the highest quality models. Where does LG lose to Sony? The fact is that on LG TVs, a high-quality image is found mainly on premium segment models. Here you will find a wide range of interesting options. For example, if money allows, you can pay attention to the elite LG Signature series. A regular Full HD model will broadcast a good picture, while it costs less than its counterpart from Sony.

The enormous popularity of this brand is due to the fact that the company continues to adhere to the original concept of development. The manufacturer makes every effort to regularly produce high-quality, but affordable devices.

Mostly in LG TVs there are LCD matrices with LED backlighting. Even premium segment models are arranged in a similar way, for example, devices that support SUHD with Nano Cell technology.

Smart TV features are another reason why people often choose LG. Unlike other companies, the South Korean brand offers a huge number of free pre-installed apps.

Main advantages:

  • intuitive operating system webOS with the possibility of future upgrades to increase performance;
  • a wide range of models with different resolutions - from HD Ready to 4K;
  • proprietary Active* HDR technology with support for HDR 10, Dolby Vision;
  • optimal viewing angle and rich colors for models that are equipped with proprietary IPS matrices;
  • Since 2017, absolutely all LG OLED TVs have been released with Dolby Atmos support.

As for the shortcomings, the following points should be highlighted:

  • in the process of playing "heavy" content online, the operating system starts to slow down;
  • Many TV models do not have a headphone jack.

Samsung

In the modern TV market, Samsung is the most massive and therefore popular brand. This company produces many more models than competitors. Moreover, you can find TVs with different diagonals - from 24 to 88 inches. Such a range will fully satisfy the needs of all users.

The flagship can be called the 4K QLED line (displays created on the basis of quantum dots). This technology is the main vector of development. Because it is a counterweight to OLED TVs that are being promoted by other brands.

Of course, these are improved TVs, but they do not have significant differences from conventional LCD models with LED backlighting. Therefore, in the specifications, the brightness and color reproduction are higher, but in fact the image is no different when compared with OLED TVs.

For the most part, modern Samsung models are classic Full HD and 4K LED TVs with a matrix refresh rate of 60-120 Hz. The viewing angle will be wide. It should also be noted a decent black level and high contrast ratio.

Main advantages:

  • a wide range of different models with a regular and curved screen;
  • proprietary technology significantly improves the original image;
  • video signal delay is minimized, which gamers will appreciate;
  • fast and intuitive Smart TV running on the Tizen operating system;
  • remote control One Remote that supports voice switching of TV channels.

Flaws:

  • the cost of some TVs is frankly overpriced;
  • Russian assembly models of very poor quality.

Panasonic

A proven company that is a real old-timer in the TV market. The company has always been famous the highest quality assemblies. Many models were assembled in Japan. This applies not only to modern TV, but also CRT models.

Today it is not the most popular TV brand. It is significantly inferior to Sony and South Korean brands. This is due to the fact that the range of TV is very limited. With a small number of models, it is very difficult to compete with the leaders.

What is the best Panasonic TV to buy? The best option would be premium segment models with OLED displays and 4K support. Realistic image, natural color palette - far from the full range of advantages. The build quality is also at the highest level. Separately, we highlight the technologies 4K HDR and 4K Pro HDR.

Series 6 - the middle price segment. You will find budget models in 4 and 5 series. They are produced in Belarus. Users note that the image blurs in dynamic scenes.

Strengths:

  • support for several HDR formats at once;
  • the brand has not abandoned the production of models with 3D;
  • convenient Smart platform on the Firefox operating system;
  • modern and non-standard design;
  • long service life.

It is better to buy models 6 or 7 series. They are going to the Czech Republic. Therefore, the quality is much higher than that of the Belarusian assembly.

Flaws:

  • overcharge;
  • budget models lose in image quality to devices of leading brands.

Philips

Philips releases different models. Therefore, you can choose both a device from the premium segment and a budget TV. Inexpensive TVs are in the greatest demand. The screens of such devices are capable of broadcasting an image maximum quality. The picture will pleasantly surprise even the most inveterate skeptics.

Good image quality is not the only advantage of this brand. Philips has a special feature - dynamic background lighting. Of course, not all models are equipped with such a backlight.

Disadvantages are predominantly programmatic character. Updating the operating system often does not allow you to eliminate previous errors or other failures. Previously, the Philips trademark belonged to a well-known Dutch concern. Today it is owned by the Chinese company TP Vision. This is reflected in the quality of the products.

Advantages:

  • for a small amount of money you can buy a multifunctional TV;
  • in terms of design, the company prefers minimalism. Despite this Philips TVs always look modern;
  • natural image, maximum image clarity and contrast;
  • Ambilight option - a unique backlight automatically changes the color palette in accordance with what kind of scene is played on the screen;
  • remote controls with radio transmitter.

Flaws:

  • very inconvenient main menu and settings system;
  • Smart TV is slow.

Economy TVs

Previously, television manufacturers were considered that produce models with a price of medium and high level. Now let's talk about companies that offer TV at affordable prices. Consider the popular brands in this segment, as well as analyze their advantages and disadvantages.

Thompson

Another brand that was popular before, but every year TV from this company is less and less common. In the early 2000s, an American-French company produced really high-quality goods that were in demand all over the world. Even then, the company decided to abandon the production of TVs, giving the right to use the trademark to the Chinese manufacturer TCL.

Today Thompson TV is unable to compete with Sony devices, Samsung or LG. However, they will definitely not get lost in the budget niche of the domestic market.

Today's lineup is represented by classic LED TVs. The screen diagonal starts from 19 inches and ends with 55-inch models. Lots of simple TVs. The manufacturer positions them as an excellent option for commercial use: hotels, cafes, offices, etc. There is a line with support for the Smart TV platform.

Advantages:

  • decent value for money;
  • simple settings system;
  • narrow bezels and minimalist design;
  • all models are equipped with a tuner for digital TV;
  • TVs are equipped with all necessary interfaces.

Flaws:

  • software failures in the operation of Smart TV;
  • viewing angles leave much to be desired.

Akai

The manufacturer is considered one of the leaders in the middle price segment. Of course, Akai also produces premium models. Inexpensive TVs from this brand boast a wide viewing angle, high-quality Smart TV platform.

TVs from a little-known Japanese brand are equipped with powerful speakers, which is a rarity. Stylish and modern design is another indisputable advantage of TV from this company.

To understand which TV brand to buy, you need to carefully study the advantages and disadvantages. Let's start with the strengths:

  • convenient menu with a huge number of different modes;
  • natural and rich palette of colors;
  • instant response;
  • implemented support for all modern formats;
  • affordable price.

Flaws:

  • in some situations, users have complaints about the build quality.

Supra

Don't know which TV brand to choose? Pay attention to Supra TVs. Previously, this manufacturer was Japanese. Therefore, the quality of products was much higher. Today, this trademark is the result of Russian-Chinese cooperation. The quality of TV has fallen, but it is still at a decent level.

Supra mainly produces compact LED TVs with a diagonal of up to 50 inches. There are very few 4K models, the bet is made on affordable Full HD devices.

The manufacturer uses high-quality matrices and backlights, which allows you to create inexpensive TVs with a realistic image. Reviews about the products of this company are very contradictory. Customer complaints are more related to expensive models.

Main advantages:

  • price-quality ratio;
  • modern design;
  • Smart TV platform runs on Android OS;
  • built-in digital tuner;
  • excellent build quality.

Flaws:

  • poor sound quality;
  • Smart TV slows down;
  • Poor analog TV reception.

Hitachi

Another firm that was once a legend. Hitachi is a Japanese company that produces a wide variety of products. In 2012, the rights to produce Hitachi-branded TVs were sold. The new owners are gradually expanding the range of equipment.

Advantages:

  • affordable price;
  • build quality;
  • rich palette of colors.

Flaws:

  • too limited range.

Find out what, besides diagonal and resolution, to pay attention to.

Measure the dimensions of a cabinet niche or wall space and write it down. Later, this will help to understand whether the selected TV will fit or if you have to slightly moderate your appetites.

2. Choose a diagonal

The larger the screen, the stronger the immersive effect. But just buying the largest possible TV for all the money is not entirely correct. Indeed, the choice of diagonal is influenced by the distance to the screen and the quality of the content, and these parameters are closely related: the closer to the display, the more realistic the picture and the more noticeable all the flaws.

The optimal distance is considered to be a distance of 1.2–2.5 diagonals: this is recommended by manufacturers.

For example, for 40 inches it will be about 1.2–2.5 meters, for 65 inches - 2–4 meters. Provided that the room is of sufficient width and you plan to watch high-quality digital content, you can focus on this formula.

If there is not a lot of space, and the signal is not always in high resolution, you will have to look for a compromise, taking into account the dependence of the diagonal, distance and content quality.

  • If you want a larger diagonal- take care of a quality signal or sit away from the TV.
  • If the room is small- reduce the diagonal or increase the signal quality.
  • If the content is of dubious quality- move away from the screen or take a smaller diagonal.

What to buy

  • TV LG 43UM7500PLA with a screen diagonal of 43 inches, 33,990 rubles →
  • TV Philips 50PUS6504 with a screen diagonal of 50 inches, 29,990 rubles →
  • TV LG 65UM7510PLA with a screen diagonal of 65 inches, 64 990 rubles →
  • TV Samsung UE75RU7100U with a screen diagonal of 75 inches, 89,990 rubles →

3. Decide on a resolution

The resolution of the display directly affects the level of detail in the image, of course, subject to a quality signal. In 2020, four standards are available on the market, but HD is almost never found, and 8K is still considered exotic. In fact, you will have to choose between Full HD and 4K.

The rule "the more the better" does not work here again, since the TV with a screen is fully opened high definition only if there is an appropriate signal. The whole choice comes down to understanding the content in which resolution you plan to watch more often.

  • HD (1280×720)- morally obsolete, but at the same time it is an ideal option for viewing terrestrial TV channels and TVs with a diagonal of up to 32 inches. It is found only in the most budgetary models and is suitable only for a summer residence or a kitchen.
  • Full HD (1920 × 1080)- is gradually being replaced by more progressive 4K, but at the moment it is still in demand and remains the most popular. The vast majority of content is available in 1080p.
  • UHD or 4K (3840 × 2160)- a format that is gaining momentum, which will become the main one in the next couple of years. Ideal for YouTube videos, movies, series, games. For TV channels, it will be worse than Full HD.
  • 8K (7680×4320)- a recently introduced standard that is twice the resolution of 4K and four times that of Full HD. There is no point in buying in the next 3-4 years, since there are only a few models available on the market, and all content is limited to a dozen videos on .

What to buy

4. Select a matrix technology

In pursuit of realistic color reproduction, high brightness and contrast, manufacturers are constantly experimenting with displays. Now all TVs have three main types of matrices: LED, QLED, OLED. Each of them has both advantages and disadvantages, so you should choose based on your preferences.

LED

Technology based on liquid crystals. In fact, the same LCD (LCD), but with a backlight not on fluorescent lamps, but on LEDs. This made it possible to significantly save space and produce thin devices, so manufacturers put the type of LED backlight into the name. It has been fixed, although the matrices do not differ from the older ones.

LED panels are currently the most common. They have two varieties, which differ in the arrangement of crystals in the matrix.

  • IPS- in such panels, liquid crystal molecules are always parallel to the display plane and scatter light to the sides. Due to this, very good viewing angles and color reproduction are provided, but contrast suffers, and blacks in low light look more like dark gray.
  • VA- in these matrices, the crystals are located perpendicular to the screen, which allows you to completely block the light and gives a deep black color. However, this at the same time worsens the picture when the viewing angle is changed: the shades are distorted horizontally, and the shadow detail is distorted vertically.

Both technologies are used in models entry level. LED‑IPS can be recommended for family viewing in natural light and video games. LED‑VA is the best choice for those who prefer to enjoy movies and series in the evenings alone or together.

QLED

QLED matrices, in fact, are an improved version of the previous technology and have nothing to do with OLED. But at the suggestion of the same manufacturers, they were singled out in a separate category. Samsung uses this term, LG calls them Nano Cells, Sony calls them Triluminos.

The difference of this technology lies in the use of blue LEDs for illumination. They form the red and green colors missing for the RGB palette due to an additional layer with quantum dots. All this gives a brighter and more saturated picture.

QLED matrices are more expensive, so they should be considered with an average budget.

Although most manufacturers already install them in all models, except for the initial ones.

OLED

A fundamentally different, more modern technology based on organic light emitting diodes. They do not need additional illumination, since they themselves emit light when current is applied, being able to turn off completely. As a result, OLED TVs boast excellent color gamut and contrast, as well as perfect blacks and are only a few millimeters thick.

The disadvantages of such matrices include inferior LED-analogues brightness and a very high price.

In addition, OLED screens are prone to "burn-in" - the appearance of residual marks on static images like the interface in games or TV channel dice.

What to buy

5. Consider the type of backlight

All TVs except OLED use LED lights matrices. At the moment, manufacturers are using two technologies: Edge LED and Direct LED.

The first assumes the location of the LEDs around the perimeter of the screen, while the matrix itself is illuminated through a diffusing panel. This option is cheaper and allows you to achieve a smaller thickness of the case.

Direct LED light emitting diodes installed directly behind the matrix and evenly distributed over its entire plane. This design, although it turns out to be thicker, gives a more uniform backlight without flashes and allows you to extinguish certain areas of the screen to achieve deeper and more natural blacks.

6. Decide on the sweep frequency

This parameter shows the screen refresh rate in one second and is measured in hertz (Hz, Hz). So, 60 hertz means that the image will change 60 times in a second. The higher the frequency, the smoother action scenes such as sports broadcasts or video games will look.

Screens with a frequency of 60 Hz are sufficient for viewing most content, including TV shows, movies and series. 120 Hz can only come in handy if you plan to connect to a TV and play video games.

What to buy

7. Choose an operating system

Without any OS, only the most budget models are now sold. In principle, this is even good: you can save money, and if you want to realize smart features It will turn out at any time by purchasing a media prefix.

Most TVs on the market have one or another Smart platform. All of them offer a minimal set of software, which includes a media player, YouTube, online movie theater clients, and an app store. The differences are mostly visual, but not only.

  • webOS- Own development of the LG company. A nice shell with a minimalistic, intuitive interface and good optimization. The disadvantages include closeness and a meager set of applications in the store.
  • Tizen- a variant of the smart platform from Samsung. Can do about the same as webOS, and by and large differs purely visually. Exclusive feature - support Samsung systems Smart‑Things for the Internet of Things.
  • Android TV- a special version of the OS from Google, which is used in Sony TVs, TCL, Philips and other manufacturers. In terms of interface and speed, it loses to WebOS and Tizen, but boasts a mass of applications from Google Play, including games.

What to buy

8. Learn Connectors and Wireless Standards

Now the number of ports on TVs has been reduced to a minimum. Video and audio are carried over the HDMI connectors, so all you really need to do is make sure you have enough for all your devices. However, there are several nuances that are worth paying attention to.

  • HDMI- the most important connector. There should be at least two of them, and preferably three or more - to connect a media set-top box, a game console, and all other devices. 4K 60Hz output requires version 2.0 ports, while 4K 120Hz output requires version 2.1. Often there is only one such connector, the rest are older.
  • USB- it is better to have at least a couple: for flash drives and mice, gamepads or keyboards. Also check if there is USB support 3.0 and what is the maximum size of disks.
  • ethernet- Wired connection is preferred as it will provide higher speed and reliability compared to Wi‑Fi.
  • Digital Optical Out- optical output for acoustic systems. You will need it if you are going to use speakers with this connection option.
  • WiFi- connection by wireless network handy for those who don't want to mess around with cables. However, if the air is congested, there may be stability issues.

What to buy

  • TV LG 32LJ600U with USB connectors, two HDMI, RCA, optical Toslink output, LAN and a connector for the DVB CAM module, 13,990 rubles →
  • TV Samsung UE65RU7200U with two USB connectors, three HDMI, optical Toslink output, LAN and a connector for the DVB CAM module, 62,990 rubles →
  • TV LG NanoCell 55SM8600PLA with four HDMI connectors, three USB, optical Toslink output, LAN and a connector for the DVB CAM module, 54,990 rubles →
  • TV TCL L55C8US with three HDMI connectors, two USB, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, 56,990 rubles →

9. Check the sound

All TVs with built-in speakers have about the same sound quality and volume. You should not get hung up on the number of speakers and their power, because you can significantly improve the sound by connecting even the simplest speakers or a soundbar.

Testing is essentially limited to listening at above-average volumes.

There should be no rattle of the case and wheezing of the speakers.

10. Rate the remote

It is also important to check the convenience of the complete remote control. Especially if the TV and the remote will be used not only to turn on the screen, but also to navigate through the menu.

More expensive models have a built-in gyroscope that allows you to control the cursor by tilting the remote control, moving through the menu in the manner of a mouse. Sometimes there is even a QWERTY keyboard on the back.

12. Explore additional features

Manufacturers develop technologies and introduce new features, but not always useful (some are just another trick of marketers).

Some of the useful features include:

  • is a high dynamic range feature found mainly on 4K TVs. In films and games with appropriate support, it makes the picture as contrasting and juicy as possible, adjusting the brightness of certain areas of the image.
  • Bluetooth- useful for use wireless headphones, as well as mobile devices to broadcast media content.

Definitely unnecessary and useless in 2020 are:

  • 3D- once fashionable technology has now completely sunk into oblivion and is no longer used in modern TVs. You can meet her only in models lying around in warehouses.
  • Curved display- curved screens just look interesting. In fact, there is only one harm from them: you can only watch while sitting strictly in the center, because even with a slight deviation the picture is distorted.

There is a TV in almost every apartment, in every private house, in many restaurants ... Even if you do not watch it, you most likely have a TV receiver itself. That's why TV manufacturers are doing pretty well. In the days of kinescope models, every major country had at least one factory that assembles TV devices. Now the situation has changed. It's time for big brands to gobble up small brands. Let's find out which TV manufacturers are currently on the market, which ones are better and in which countries they are made. How do they differ from each other. Who should be trusted, and whose devices should be avoided.

The best TV manufacturers are the leaders in the ratings

If earlier all TV manufacturers felt equally good, now South Korean brands can boast of the greatest success. In particular, Samsung Electronics, the TV manufacturer's country of South Korea, sells millions of its devices annually.

In the assortment of this company you can find a variety of TV devices - from the simplest to large and curved, endowed with an increased scanning frequency. In the case of Smart TV, it uses its own Tizen operating system, which can also be found in smart watch, smartphones from the Z-series and even refrigerators.

Samsung TVs

The most expensive are equipped with a screen created using QLED technology. That is, the matrix consists of so-called quantum dots. Roughly speaking, this is an analogue of OLED technology, where each pixel glows independently, which leads to an incredibly high contrast and very rich colors. And these TVs have 4K resolution and support for HDR.

LG TVs

Another South Korean manufacturer of television equipment is LG Electronics. His products are also actively sold all over the world. The range can be called very wide. TV receivers have different diagonals, different resolutions, and the set of connectors can be completely different. At the same time, they most often have a lower markup for the brand, and therefore their cost is more optimal.

Top models are equipped with a matrix made using OLED technology. Such devices are able to please with perfect color reproduction. However, one cannot fail to note the minimum number of such devices - unfortunately, so far LG Display has only one or two factories at its disposal that can create OLED panels.

Sometimes South Koreans have to order matrices from Japanese competitors - this happens too. Another noteworthy fact is that the LG function is based on webOS, a special operating system that is intelligently adapted to very large screens.

Sony

Any analyst will confirm that the TV market is going through better times. If a new smartphone is bought every two or three years, then television equipment can last a whole decade. Because of this, the vast majority of manufacturers of such devices do not make a large margin, trying to lure the buyer at least at a low cost. The exception to the rule is Sony, in Japan.

The Japanese make expensive equipment. And, oddly enough, they buy it, albeit on a fairly small scale.

Most often, Sony TVs have a stylish appearance and a high-quality matrix. OLED models are few and far between, mostly the Japanese company is betting on traditional LED TVs. But the screens of the vast majority of Sony products have 4K resolution.

Some models boast high-quality sound- their customers do not even think about purchasing any acoustics. There are also Japanese TVs with HDR support and increased refresh rates that are ideally paired with the PlayStation 4 Pro game console. As far as Smart TV is concerned, this feature can be based on Android or even Linux.

Philips TVs are still in great demand. At one time, it was the Dutch company that was the first to introduce Ambilight backlighting. This is when on the wall behind the screen appear different colors in tune with what is happening on the screen. This feature makes you forget about the frames around the screen, visually expanding the picture.

If you really buy Philips devices, then only with the support of this technology! In this case, you should not worry about the fact that the Dutch have not had anything to do with TVs under their brand for quite a long time. Now they are produced by the Chinese company TP Vision, which bought both the factories and some of the patents.

You should be prepared for the fact that the purchased "Dutch" TV will have not only advantages, but also disadvantages. For example, a remote control with a radio transmitter can certainly be added to the pros, since it will not force the user to “aim”. But Smart TV on Android based, working with slowdowns - this is already a significant drawback. And TP Vision cannot boast of a wide range now. The Chinese manufacturer does not think about OLED at all, although this technology is the future of the market.

Minor brands

In stores that sell LCD TVs, you can easily find devices under many other brands. Each of these companies occupies less than 3% of the market. However, this does not mean that they should not be mentioned at all. Some of them were once very popular. Suffice it to recall Panasonic - many of us used to have TVs under this brand. But the transition from kinescopes to LCDs was difficult for the Japanese.

For a long time the company produced screens in its home country. This is what led to the high cost of such devices. Now Panasonic TVs are becoming more and more difficult to find in large retail chains. In terms of their price tag, they lose to many competitors, and therefore buyers do not want to look towards Japanese products.

But it has a number of advantages. Firstly, engineers work in tandem with specialists from Hollywood, so that the HDR picture is perfect. Secondly, premium models get a colorful and energy-efficient 4K OLED screen. Thirdly, the Japanese do not abandon the production of TVs with a 3D screen - the image is displayed using shutter technology. The Smart TV function is most often based on Firefox OS, an operating system that has never found a place in the smartphone market.

Sharp and Toshiba TVs

Surely many of our readers are familiar with the Japanese companies Sharp and Toshiba. At one time, they divided a fairly solid share of the global TV market into two and were considered one of the best manufacturers. They were the easiest to achieve a low price tag, because these companies did not have to order LCD matrices on the side.

Little has changed now. The Japanese still make their own screens. But mostly they supply them to other companies - they build them into their TVs, smartphones, tablets and other devices. It turns out that this brings more profit than the assembly and sale of their own television equipment.

However, this case is not thrown by the Japanese - on the shelves of stores you can still find very good devices with different dimensions, cost and functionality. Basically, all these are representatives of the budget segment - when the price tag does not exceed 40 thousand rubles. Interestingly, even such inexpensive devices can have a 4K screen. Two Japanese companies do not even think about OLED - this technology is too expensive for them.

BBK

In China, there are several very large companies involved in the production of audio and video equipment. One of them is BBK Electronics. For a long time, this brand was familiar to Russians from budget DVD players. With the advent of the era of LCD TVs, the company decided to try its hand at a new market.

Her devices continued to emphasize low cost. This means that they most often have a screen with a low resolution (maximum - Full HD), simple speakers and a minimal set of connectors. Many models are supplied without Smart TV, which significantly limits the potential of the TV.

DEXP and Supra

On the shelves Russian stores you can easily find devices under domestic brands. At the same time, many people would never call the DEXP and Supra trademarks Russian - they seem to them exclusively foreign. In fact, the DEXP brand belongs to trading network DNS. Under it, gadgets assembled in China by all sorts of OEMs are distributed.

Including DNS, there is a large assortment of LCD TVs that differ from each other in workmanship, functionality, size and cost. As for Supra, Japanese technology used to be distributed under this brand. But now this trademark is the result of Sino-Russian cooperation. TVs with the Supra badge emphasize a very low price tag. The most popular are models with a small diagonal - they are usually bought for installation in a car.

AKAI

The Japanese company AKAI existed until 2004. After the bankruptcy, the trademark did not disappear anywhere - the rights to it were bought by the Grande Group of Hong Kong. Now this brand is provided to various Chinese companies. That is why AKAI LCD TVs are still sold in stores. Basically, they have a low price tag, and in as Smart TV they use the operating room android system. Screen resolution is not always low - there are models with a 4K screen.

TCL Corporation was founded in 1981. For a while, the Chinese produced only audio cassettes. Later, the company switched to the production of household appliances and telephones intended for the Chinese market. TCL now owns the Thomson and Alcatel brands.

However, televisions by the company are increasingly being produced under their own brand. Often these are top models equipped with everything you need. Unfortunately, such LCD TVs are supplied to Russia in a minimal volume - for now, the company focuses primarily on the home market.

If you start choosing a TV, you will come across other brands. For example, Erisson, FUSION, HAIER, Harper, ORION and other trademarks of this kind are very popular in our country - you can list them for a very long time. Separately, MYSTERY products should be singled out - usually compact LCD TVs designed for installation in a children's room or a car are distributed under it.

Telefunken-branded devices are also becoming increasingly popular. Someone knows that this is the name of a German company. But in fact, back in 2006, the rights to produce TVs under this brand were sold to the Turkish holding Profilio-Telra.

Xiaomi

For some time now, Xiaomi has been trying to penetrate the TV market. This company produces a wide variety of electronics, why not take a swing at TV receivers? According to a good tradition, devices under this brand have impressive characteristics, while being distributed at a low price.

However, so far only sold in China. Russians can acquire them only by using the appropriate online store and paying for the delivery of bulky goods.

Forgotten Legends

Unfortunately, not all companies were able to successfully survive the end of the era. kinescope TVs. Someone refocused on the production of liquid crystal models, but at the same time lost most of their popularity. Others disappeared altogether, unable to sell even their brand. For example, products under the Rubin trademark are less and less common on the shelves.

But these are one of the few TVs that are assembled in Russia. A little in more sold devices called HORIZONT. As you might have guessed, these are the famous "Horizons" in the past, produced by a Belarusian enterprise. Interestingly, some devices have a 4K display, as well as a Smart TV function on the Android buzz.

Hitachi can also be attributed to the forgotten legends. This Japanese company now produces a wide variety of products - from screwdrivers to excavators. However, LCD TVs are of little interest to her. In 2012, the company decided to leave this market by selling the rights to produce television equipment under its own brand. The new owners are more successful - it is no accident that the range of Hitachi TVs is constantly expanding.

Finally, you can remember about JVC. Many Russians at one time had a VCR made by this company. And someone was lucky enough to use a video camera. Unfortunately, JVC did not survive the onset of the digital era - the company almost went bankrupt, the management had to sell it to Kenwood.

However, the brand has not disappeared - the new owner uses it to manufacture and sell TVs, while automotive electronics continue to be distributed under the Kenwood trademark.

Summarizing

The LCD TV market is going through hard times. Sales are declining, and intense competition is forcing many companies to either close or start producing something else. Now you know which TV manufacturers best meet the requirements of the time. But it is possible that the rating published by us will become a little shorter in the coming years.

Tell us in the comments which TV receiver is used in your family, which TV manufacturers do you consider the best? And which brand would you focus on when buying a new device?
